तनि बिरहु जगावै मेरे पिआरे नीद न पवै किवै ॥
Separation from my Lord keeps my body awake, O my dear beloved; I cannot sleep at all.

चड़ि चेतु बसंतु मेरे पिआरे भलीअ रुते ॥
In the month of Chayt, O my dear beloved, the pleasant season of spring begins.
ਪਿਰ ਬਾਝੜਿਅਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਆਂਗਣਿ ਧੂੜਿ ਲੁਤੇ ॥
Pir Baajharriahu Maerae Piaarae Aaangan Dhhoorr Luthae ||
पिर बाझड़िअहु मेरे पिआरे आंगणि धूड़ि लुते ॥
But without my Husband Lord, O my dear beloved, my courtyard is filled with dust.
ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਉਡੀਣੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੁਇ ਨੈਨ ਜੁਤੇ ॥
Man Aas Ouddeenee Maerae Piaarae Dhue Nain Juthae ||
मनि आस उडीणी मेरे पिआरे दुइ नैन जुते ॥
But my sad mind is still hopeful, O my dear beloved; my eyes are both fixed upon Him.
ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਉ ਮਾਤ ਸੁਤੇ ॥੪॥

Sabh Aasaa Har Pooreeaa Maerae Piaarae Man Chindhiarraa Fal Paaeiaa ||
सभि आसा हरि पूरीआ मेरे पिआरे मनि चिंदिअड़ा फलु पाइआ ॥
The Lord has fulfilled all my hopes, O my dear beloved; I have obtained the fruits of my heart's desires.
ਹਰਿ ਤੁਠੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
Har Thutharraa Maerae Piaarae Jan Naanak Naam Samaaeiaa ||5||
हरि तुठड़ा मेरे पिआरे जनु नानकु नामि समाइआ ॥५॥
When the Lord is pleased, O my dear beloved, servant Nanak is absorbed into the Naam. ||5||
ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਖੇਲਸਾ ॥

पिआरे हरि बिनु प्रेमु न खेलसा ॥
Without the Beloved Lord, there is no play of love.
ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਖਸਾ ॥
Kio Paaee Gur Jith Lag Piaaraa Dhaekhasaa ||
किउ पाई गुरु जितु लगि पिआरा देखसा ॥
How can I find the Guru? Grasping hold of Him, I behold my Beloved.
ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤੜੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਸਾ ॥

हरि दातड़े मेलि गुरू मुखि गुरमुखि मेलसा ॥
O Lord, O Great Giver, let me meet the Guru; as Gurmukh, may I merge with You.

Tasted - I have tasted the sweet essence of the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਵੂਠਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਤੂਠਾ ਸਹਜੁ ਭਇਆ ॥
Har Ras Meethaa Man Mehi Voothaa Sathigur Thoothaa Sehaj Bhaeiaa ||
हरि रसु मीठा मन महि वूठा सतिगुरु तूठा सहजु भइआ ॥
The sweet essence of the Lord has rained down in my mind; by the pleasure of the True Guru, I have attained peaceful ease.
ਗ੍ਰਿਹੁ ਵਸਿ ਆਇਆ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ਪੰਚ ਦੁਸਟ ਓਇ ਭਾਗਿ ਗਇਆ ॥
Grihu Vas Aaeiaa Mangal Gaaeiaa Panch Dhusatt Oue Bhaag Gaeiaa ||
ग्रिहु वसि आइआ मंगलु गाइआ पंच दुसट ओइ भागि गइआ ॥
I have come to dwell in the home of my own self, and I sing the songs of joy; the five villains have fled.

सीतल आघाणे अम्रित बाणे साजन संत बसीठा ॥
I am soothed and satisfied with the Ambrosial Bani of His Word; the friendly Saint is my advocate.

पाहुनड़े पाहुनड़े मेरे संत पिआरे राम ॥
Guests - my guests are the Beloved Saints, O Lord.
ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸਾਰੇ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਿ ਲਗੇ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
Santh Piaarae Kaaraj Saarae Namasakaar Kar Lagae Saevaa ||
संत पिआरे कारज सारे नमसकार करि लगे सेवा ॥
The Beloved Saints have resolved my affairs; I humbly bowed to them, and committed myself to their service.
ਆਪੇ ਜਾਞੀ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਞੀ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
Aapae Jaanjee Aapae Maanjee Aap Suaamee Aap Dhaevaa ||
आपे जाञी आपे माञी आपि सुआमी आपि देवा ॥
He Himself is the groom's party, and He Himself the bride's party; He Himself is the Lord and Master; He Himself is the Divine Lord.
ਅਪਣਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਧਾਰਨ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
Apanaa Kaaraj Aap Savaarae Aapae Dhhaaran Dhhaarae ||
अपणा कारजु आपि सवारे आपे धारन धारे ॥
He Himself resolves His own affairs; He Himself sustains the Universe.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੋਹੇ ਬੰਕ ਦੁਆਰੇ ॥੨॥
Kahu Naanak Sahu Ghar Mehi Baithaa Sohae Bank Dhuaarae ||2||
कहु नानक सहु घर महि बैठा सोहे बंक दुआरे ॥२॥
Says Nanak, my Bridegroom is sitting in my home; the gates of my body are beautifully adorned. ||2||
ਨਵ ਨਿਧੇ ਨਉ ਨਿਧੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
Nav Nidhhae No Nidhhae Maerae Ghar Mehi Aaee Raam ||
नव निधे नउ निधे मेरे घर महि आई राम ॥
The nine treasures - the nine treasures come into my home, Lord.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਰਾਮ ॥
Sabh Kishh Mai Sabh Kishh Paaeiaa Naam Dhhiaaee Raam ||
सभु किछु मै सभु किछु पाइआ नामु धिआई राम ॥
Everything - I obtain everything, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਸਦਾ ਸਖਾਈ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਈ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ॥
Naam Dhhiaaee Sadhaa Sakhaaee Sehaj Subhaaee Govindhaa ||
नामु धिआई सदा सखाई सहज सुभाई गोविंदा ॥
Meditating on the Naam, the Lord of the Universe becomes the one's eternal companion, and he dwells in peaceful ease.
ਗਣਤ ਮਿਟਾਈ ਚੂਕੀ ਧਾਈ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਾ ॥
Ganath Mittaaee Chookee Dhhaaee Kadhae N Viaapai Man Chindhaa ||
गणत मिटाई चूकी धाई कदे न विआपै मन चिंदा ॥
His calculations are ended, his wanderings cease, and his mind is no longer afflicted with anxiety.
ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗਾਜੇ ਅਨਹਦ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਸੋਭ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
Govindh Gaajae Anehadh Vaajae Acharaj Sobh Banaaee ||
गोविंद गाजे अनहद वाजे अचरज सोभ बणाई ॥
When the Lord of the Universe reveals Himself, and the unstruck melody of the sound current vibrates, the drama of wondrous splendor is enacted.
