Second Mehl:
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਚੰਦਾ ਉਗਵਹਿ ਸੂਰਜ ਚੜਹਿ ਹਜਾਰ ॥
Jae So Chandhaa Ougavehi Sooraj Charrehi Hajaar ||
जे सउ चंदा उगवहि सूरज चड़हि हजार ॥
If a hundred moons were to rise, and a thousand suns appeared,
ਏਤੇ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋਦਿਆਂ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰ ॥੨॥
Eaethae Chaanan Hodhiaaan Gur Bin Ghor Andhhaar ||2||
एते चानण होदिआं गुर बिनु घोर अंधार ॥२॥
Even with such light, there would still be pitch darkness without the Guru. ||2||

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਨ ਚੇਤਨੀ ਮਨਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਸੁਚੇਤ ॥
Naanak Guroo N Chaethanee Man Aapanai Suchaeth ||
नानक गुरू न चेतनी मनि आपणै सुचेत ॥
O Nanak, those who do not think of the Guru, and who think of themselves as clever,
ਛੁਟੇ ਤਿਲ ਬੂਆੜ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੇ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਖੇਤ ॥
Shhuttae Thil Booaarr Jio Sunnjae Andhar Khaeth ||
छुटे तिल बूआड़ जिउ सुंञे अंदरि खेत ॥
Shall be left abandoned in the field, like the scattered sesame.
ਖੇਤੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਛੁਟਿਆ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਉ ਨਾਹ ॥
Khaethai Andhar Shhuttiaa Kahu Naanak So Naah ||
खेतै अंदरि छुटिआ कहु नानक सउ नाह ॥
They are abandoned in the field, says Nanak, and they have a hundred masters to please.
ਫਲੀਅਹਿ ਫੁਲੀਅਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਭੀ ਤਨ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਆਹ ॥੩॥
Faleeahi Fuleeahi Bapurrae Bhee Than Vich Suaah ||3||
फलीअहि फुलीअहि बपुड़े भी तन विचि सुआह ॥३॥
The wretches bear fruit and flower, but within their bodies, they are filled with ashes. ||3||

ਆਪੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਆਪੁ ਸਾਜਿਓ ਆਪੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਰਚਿਓ ਨਾਉ ॥
Aapeenhai Aap Saajiou Aapeenhai Rachiou Naao ||
आपीन्है आपु साजिओ आपीन्है रचिओ नाउ ॥
He Himself created Himself; He Himself assumed His Name.
ਦੁਯੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਾਜੀਐ ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣੁ ਡਿਠੋ ਚਾਉ ॥
Dhuyee Kudharath Saajeeai Kar Aasan Dditho Chaao ||
दुयी कुदरति साजीऐ करि आसणु डिठो चाउ ॥
Secondly, He fashioned the creation; seated within the creation, He beholds it with delight.
ਦਾਤਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਤੂੰ ਤੁਸਿ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਸਾਉ ॥
Dhaathaa Karathaa Aap Thoon Thus Dhaevehi Karehi Pasaao ||
दाता करता आपि तूं तुसि देवहि करहि पसाउ ॥
You Yourself are the Giver and the Creator; by Your Pleasure, You bestow Your Mercy.
ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣੋਈ ਸਭਸੈ ਦੇ ਲੈਸਹਿ ਜਿੰਦੁ ਕਵਾਉ ॥
Thoon Jaanoee Sabhasai Dhae Laisehi Jindh Kavaao ||
तूं जाणोई सभसै दे लैसहि जिंदु कवाउ ॥
You are the Knower of all; You give life, and take it away again with a word.
ਕਰਿ ਆਸਣੁ ਡਿਠੋ ਚਾਉ ॥੧॥

करि आसणु डिठो चाउ ॥१॥
Seated within the creation, You behold it with delight. ||1||

ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਖੰਡ ਸਚੇ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ॥

सचे तेरे खंड सचे ब्रहमंड ॥
True are Your worlds, True are Your solar Systems.
ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਲੋਅ ਸਚੇ ਆਕਾਰ ॥
Sachae Thaerae Loa Sachae Aakaar ||
सचे तेरे लोअ सचे आकार ॥
True are Your realms, True is Your creation.
ਸਚੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਰਣੇ ਸਰਬ ਬੀਚਾਰ ॥
Sachae Thaerae Karanae Sarab Beechaar ||
सचे तेरे करणे सरब बीचार ॥
True are Your actions, and all Your deliberations.
ਸਚਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਅਮਰੁ ਸਚਾ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥
Sachaa Thaeraa Amar Sachaa Dheebaan ||
सचा तेरा अमरु सचा दीबाणु ॥
True is Your Command, and True is Your Court.
ਸਚਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਫੁਰਮਾਣੁ ॥
Sachaa Thaeraa Hukam Sachaa Furamaan ||
सचा तेरा हुकमु सचा फुरमाणु ॥
True is the Command of Your Will, True is Your Order.
ਸਚਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਰਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
Sachaa Thaeraa Karam Sachaa Neesaan ||
सचा तेरा करमु सचा नीसाणु ॥
True is Your Mercy, True is Your Insignia.
ਸਚੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਖਹਿ ਲਖ ਕਰੋੜਿ ॥
Sachae Thudhh Aakhehi Lakh Karorr ||
सचे तुधु आखहि लख करोड़ि ॥
Hundreds of thousands and millions call You True.
ਸਚੈ ਸਭਿ ਤਾਣਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਭਿ ਜੋਰਿ ॥
Sachai Sabh Thaan Sachai Sabh Jor ||
सचै सभि ताणि सचै सभि जोरि ॥
In the True Lord is all power, in the True Lord is all might.
ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਸਚੀ ਸਾਲਾਹ ॥
Sachee Thaeree Sifath Sachee Saalaah ||
सची तेरी सिफति सची सालाह ॥
True is Your Praise, True is Your Adoration.
ਸਚੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਸਚੇ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥
Sachee Thaeree Kudharath Sachae Paathisaah ||
सची तेरी कुदरति सचे पातिसाह ॥
True is Your almighty creative power, True King.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਨਿ ਸਚੁ ॥

नानक सचु धिआइनि सचु ॥
O Nanak, true are those who meditate on the True One.
ਜੋ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੇ ਸੁ ਕਚੁ ਨਿਕਚੁ ॥੧॥
Jo Mar Janmae S Kach Nikach ||1||
जो मरि जमे सु कचु निकचु ॥१॥
Those who are subject to birth and death are totally false. ||1||

ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਵਡਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Jaa Vaddaa Naao ||
वडी वडिआई जा वडा नाउ ॥
Great is His greatness, as great as His Name.
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਆਉ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Jaa Sach Niaao ||
वडी वडिआई जा सचु निआउ ॥
Great is His greatness, as True is His justice.
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਨਿਹਚਲ ਥਾਉ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Jaa Nihachal Thhaao ||
वडी वडिआई जा निहचल थाउ ॥
Great is His greatness, as permanent as His Throne.
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਲਾਉ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Jaanai Aalaao ||
वडी वडिआई जाणै आलाउ ॥
Great is His greatness, as He knows our utterances.
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਬੁਝੈ ਸਭਿ ਭਾਉ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Bujhai Sabh Bhaao ||
वडी वडिआई बुझै सभि भाउ ॥
Great is His greatness, as He understands all our affections.
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਨ ਦਾਤਿ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Jaa Pushh N Dhaath ||
वडी वडिआई जा पुछि न दाति ॥
Great is His greatness, as He gives without being asked.
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Jaa Aapae Aap ||
वडी वडिआई जा आपे आपि ॥
Great is His greatness, as He Himself is all-in-all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਰ ਨ ਕਥਨੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
Naanak Kaar N Kathhanee Jaae ||
नानक कार न कथनी जाइ ॥
O Nanak, His actions cannot be described.
ਕੀਤਾ ਕਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੨॥
Keethaa Karanaa Sarab Rajaae ||2||
कीता करणा सरब रजाइ ॥२॥
Whatever He has done, or will do, is all by His Own Will. ||2||

ਇਹੁ ਜਗੁ ਸਚੈ ਕੀ ਹੈ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਸਚੇ ਕਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
Eihu Jag Sachai Kee Hai Kotharree Sachae Kaa Vich Vaas ||
इहु जगु सचै की है कोठड़ी सचे का विचि वासु ॥
This world is the room of the True Lord; within it is the dwelling of the True Lord.
ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ਲਏ ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਰੇ ਵਿਣਾਸੁ ॥
Eikanhaa Hukam Samaae Leae Eikanhaa Hukamae Karae Vinaas ||
इकन्हा हुकमि समाइ लए इकन्हा हुकमे करे विणासु ॥
By His Command, some are merged into Him, and some, by His Command, are destroyed.
ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਭਾਣੈ ਕਢਿ ਲਏ ਇਕਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥
Eikanhaa Bhaanai Kadt Leae Eikanhaa Maaeiaa Vich Nivaas ||
इकन्हा भाणै कढि लए इकन्हा माइआ विचि निवासु ॥
Some, by the Pleasure of His Will, are lifted up out of Maya, while others are made to dwell within it.
ਏਵ ਭਿ ਆਖਿ ਨ ਜਾਪਈ ਜਿ ਕਿਸੈ ਆਣੇ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Eaev Bh Aakh N Jaapee J Kisai Aanae Raas ||
एव भि आखि न जापई जि किसै आणे रासि ॥
No one can say who will be rescued.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੩॥
Naanak Guramukh Jaaneeai Jaa Ko Aap Karae Paragaas ||3||
नानक गुरमुखि जाणीऐ जा कउ आपि करे परगासु ॥३॥
O Nanak, he alone is known as Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord reveals Himself. ||3||

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਅ ਉਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਲਿਖਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਧਰਮੁ ਬਹਾਲਿਆ ॥
Naanak Jeea Oupaae Kai Likh Naavai Dhharam Behaaliaa ||
नानक जीअ उपाइ कै लिखि नावै धरमु बहालिआ ॥
O Nanak, having created the souls, the Lord installed the Righteous Judge of Dharma to read and record their accounts.
ਓਥੈ ਸਚੇ ਹੀ ਸਚਿ ਨਿਬੜੈ ਚੁਣਿ ਵਖਿ ਕਢੇ ਜਜਮਾਲਿਆ ॥
Outhhai Sachae Hee Sach Nibarrai Chun Vakh Kadtae Jajamaaliaa ||
ओथै सचे ही सचि निबड़ै चुणि वखि कढे जजमालिआ ॥
There, only the Truth is judged true; the sinners are picked out and separated.
ਥਾਉ ਨ ਪਾਇਨਿ ਕੂੜਿਆਰ ਮੁਹ ਕਾਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਦੋਜਕਿ ਚਾਲਿਆ ॥
Thhaao N Paaein Koorriaar Muh Kaalhai Dhojak Chaaliaa ||
थाउ न पाइनि कूड़िआर मुह काल्है दोजकि चालिआ ॥
The false find no place there, and they go to hell with their faces blackened.
ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਇ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜਿਣਿ ਗਏ ਹਾਰਿ ਗਏ ਸਿ ਠਗਣ ਵਾਲਿਆ ॥
Thaerai Naae Rathae Sae Jin Geae Haar Geae S Thagan Vaaliaa ||
तेरै नाइ रते से जिणि गए हारि गए सि ठगण वालिआ ॥
Those who are imbued with Your Name win, while the cheaters lose.
ਲਿਖਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਧਰਮੁ ਬਹਾਲਿਆ ॥੨॥

लिखि नावै धरमु बहालिआ ॥२॥

Wonderful is the sound current of the Naad, wonderful is the knowledge of the Vedas.
ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਜੀਅ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਭੇਦ ॥
Visamaadh Jeea Visamaadh Bhaedh ||
विसमादु जीअ विसमादु भेद ॥
Wonderful are the beings, wonderful are the species.
ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਸਮਾਦੁ ਰੰਗ ॥
Visamaadh Roop Visamaadh Rang ||
विसमादु रूप विसमादु रंग ॥
Wonderful are the forms, wonderful are the colors.
