When the Guru becomes merciful, then all one's demerits are dispelled.

Cutting away the painful noose of Maya, He makes us His own slaves.

द्रिसटंत एको सुनीअंत एको वरतंत एको नरहरह ॥
I see only the One Lord; I hear only the One Lord; the One Lord is all-pervading.

हिकु सेवी हिकु समला हरि इकसु पहि अरदासि ॥
I serve the One Lord, I contemplate the One Lord, and to the One Lord, I offer my prayer.

Aavan Jaanaa Hukam Sabh Nihachal Thudhh Thhaehu ||
आवण जाणा हुकमु सभु निहचलु तुधु थेहु ॥
Coming and going are all by the Hukam of Your Will; Your place is steady and unchanging.

The five vices have corrupted my mind.

पलु पलु हरि जी ते अंतरु पारिओ ॥२॥
Moment by moment, they lead me further away from the Lord. ||2||

जत देखउ तत दुख की रासी ॥
Wherever I look, I see loads of pain and suffering.
ਅਜੌਂ ਨ ਪਤ੍ਯ੍ਯਾਇ ਨਿਗਮ ਭਏ ਸਾਖੀ ॥੩॥

अजौं न पत्याइ निगम भए साखी ॥३॥
I do not have faith, even though the Vedas bear witness to the Lord. ||3||
ਗੋਤਮ ਨਾਰਿ ਉਮਾਪਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ॥

गोतम नारि उमापति स्वामी ॥
Shiva cut off Brahma's head, and Gautam's wife and the Lord Indra mated;
ਸੀਸੁ ਧਰਨਿ ਸਹਸ ਭਗ ਗਾਂਮੀ ॥੪॥
Sees Dhharan Sehas Bhag Gaanmee ||4||
सीसु धरनि सहस भग गांमी ॥४॥
Brahma's head got stuck to Shiva's hand, and Indra came to bear the marks of a thousand female organs. ||4||
ਇਨ ਦੂਤਨ ਖਲੁ ਬਧੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਰਿਓ ॥
Ein Dhoothan Khal Badhh Kar Maariou ||
इन दूतन खलु बधु करि मारिओ ॥
These demons have fooled, bound and destroyed me.
ਬਡੋ ਨਿਲਾਜੁ ਅਜਹੂ ਨਹੀ ਹਾਰਿਓ ॥੫॥
Baddo Nilaaj Ajehoo Nehee Haariou ||5||
बडो निलाजु अजहू नही हारिओ ॥५॥
I am very shameless - even now, I am not tired of them. ||5||
