Aapae Jaanai Karae Aap Jin Vaarree Hai Laaee ||1||
आपे जाणै करे आपि जिनि वाड़ी है लाई ॥१॥
He Himself knows, and He Himself acts; He laid out the garden of the world. ||1||
ਰਾਇਸਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾ ਰਾਇਸਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Raaeisaa Piaarae Kaa Raaeisaa Jith Sadhaa Sukh Hoee || Rehaao ||
राइसा पिआरे का राइसा जितु सदा सुखु होई ॥ रहाउ ॥
Savor the story, the story of the Beloved Lord, which brings a lasting peace. ||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸਾ ਪਛੋ ਰੇ ਤਾਣੀ ॥
Jin Rang Kanth N Raaviaa Saa Pashho Rae Thaanee ||
जिनि रंगि कंतु न राविआ सा पछो रे ताणी ॥
She who does not enjoy the Love of her Husband Lord, shall come to regret and repent in the end.
ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋੜੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਧੁਣੈ ਜਬ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥੨॥
Haathh Pashhorrai Sir Dhhunai Jab Rain Vihaanee ||2||
हाथ पछोड़ै सिरु धुणै जब रैणि विहाणी ॥२॥
She wrings her hands, and bangs her head, when the night of her life has passed away. ||2||
ਪਛੋਤਾਵਾ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਬ ਚੂਕੈਗੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥
Pashhothaavaa Naa Milai Jab Chookaigee Saaree ||
पछोतावा ना मिलै जब चूकैगी सारी ॥
Nothing comes from repentance, when the game is already finished.
ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਵੀਐ ਜਬ ਆਵੈਗੀ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
Thaa Fir Piaaraa Raaveeai Jab Aavaigee Vaaree ||3||
ता फिरि पिआरा रावीऐ जब आवैगी वारी ॥३॥
She shall have the opportunity to enjoy her Beloved, only when her turn comes again. ||3||
ਕੰਤੁ ਲੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੈ ਤੇ ਵਧਵੀ ਏਹ ॥
Kanth Leeaa Sohaaganee Mai Thae Vadhhavee Eaeh ||
कंतु लीआ सोहागणी मै ते वधवी एह ॥
The happy soul-bride attains her Husband Lord - she is so much better than I am.
ਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੁਝੈ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਕੈ ਜੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇਹ ॥੪॥
Sae Gun Mujhai N Aavanee Kai Jee Dhos Dhharaeh ||4||
से गुण मुझै न आवनी कै जी दोसु धरेह ॥४॥
I have none of her merits or virtues; whom should I blame? ||4||
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉਗੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
Jinee Sakhee Sahu Raaviaa Thin Pooshhougee Jaaeae ||
जिनी सखी सहु राविआ तिन पूछउगी जाए ॥
I shall go and ask those sisters who have enjoyed their Husband Lord.
ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਉ ਲੇਉਗੀ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਤਾਏ ॥੫॥
Paae Lago Baenathee Karo Laeougee Panthh Bathaaeae ||5||
पाइ लगउ बेनती करउ लेउगी पंथु बताए ॥५॥
I touch their feet, and ask them to show me the Path. ||5||
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥
Hukam Pashhaanai Naanakaa Bho Chandhan Laavai ||
हुकमु पछाणै नानका भउ चंदनु लावै ॥
She who understands the Hukam of His Command, O Nanak, applies the Fear of God as her sandalwood oil;
ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਣ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਤਉ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
Gun Kaaman Kaaman Karai Tho Piaarae Ko Paavai ||6||
गुण कामण कामणि करै तउ पिआरे कउ पावै ॥६॥
She charms her Beloved with her virtue, and so obtains Him. ||6||
ਜੋ ਦਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਸੋਈ ॥
Jo Dhil Miliaa S Mil Rehiaa Miliaa Keheeai Rae Soee ||
जो दिलि मिलिआ सु मिलि रहिआ मिलिआ कहीऐ रे सोई ॥
She who meets her Beloved in her heart, remains united with Him; this is truly called union.
ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਾਤੀ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੭॥
Jae Bahuthaeraa Locheeai Baathee Mael N Hoee ||7||
जे बहुतेरा लोचीऐ बाती मेलु न होई ॥७॥
As much as she may long for Him, she shall not meet Him through mere words. ||7||
ਧਾਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਕਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਿਵੈ ਕਉ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
Dhhaath Milai Fun Dhhaath Ko Liv Livai Ko Dhhaavai ||
धातु मिलै फुनि धातु कउ लिव लिवै कउ धावै ॥
As metal melts into metal again, so does love melt into love.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਤਉ ਅਨਭਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥
Gur Parasaadhee Jaaneeai Tho Anabho Paavai ||8||
गुर परसादी जाणीऐ तउ अनभउ पावै ॥८॥
By Guru's Grace, this understanding is obtained, and then, one obtains the Fearless Lord. ||8||
ਪਾਨਾ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੋਇ ਘਰਿ ਖਰੁ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
Paanaa Vaarree Hoe Ghar Khar Saar N Jaanai ||
पाना वाड़ी होइ घरि खरु सार न जाणै ॥
There may be an orchard of betel nut trees in the garden, but the donkey does not appreciate its value.
ਰਸੀਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਸਕ ਕਾ ਤਬ ਫੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੯॥
Raseeaa Hovai Musak Kaa Thab Fool Pashhaanai ||9||
रसीआ होवै मुसक का तब फूलु पछाणै ॥९॥
If someone savors a fragrance, then he can truly appreciate its flower. ||9||
ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਵੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥
Apio Peevai Jo Naanakaa Bhram Bhram Samaavai ||
अपिउ पीवै जो नानका भ्रमु भ्रमि समावै ॥
One who drinks in the ambrosia, O Nanak, abandons his doubts and wanderings.
ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧੦॥੧॥
Sehajae Sehajae Mil Rehai Amaraa Padh Paavai ||10||1||
सहजे सहजे मिलि रहै अमरा पदु पावै ॥१०॥१॥
Easily and intuitively, he remains blended with the Lord, and obtains the immortal status. ||10||1||

Har Keeaa Kathhaa Kehaaneeaa Gur Meeth Sunaaeeaa ||
हरि कीआ कथा कहाणीआ गुरि मीति सुणाईआ ॥
The Guru, my friend, has told me the stories and the sermon of the Lord.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਆ ॥੧॥
Balihaaree Gur Aapanae Gur Ko Bal Jaaeeaa ||1||
बलिहारी गुर आपणे गुर कउ बलि जाईआ ॥१॥
I am a sacrifice to my Guru; to the Guru, I am a sacrifice. ||1||
ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Aae Mil Gurasikh Aae Mil Thoo Maerae Guroo Kae Piaarae || Rehaao ||
आइ मिलु गुरसिख आइ मिलु तू मेरे गुरू के पिआरे ॥ रहाउ ॥
Come, join with me, O Sikh of the Guru, come and join with me. You are my Guru's Beloved. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਦੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
Har Kae Gun Har Bhaavadhae Sae Guroo Thae Paaeae ||
हरि के गुण हरि भावदे से गुरू ते पाए ॥
The Glorious Praises of the Lord are pleasing to the Lord; I have obtained them from the Guru.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥
Jin Gur Kaa Bhaanaa Manniaa Thin Ghum Ghum Jaaeae ||2||
जिन गुर का भाणा मंनिआ तिन घुमि घुमि जाए ॥२॥
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to those who surrender to, and obey the Guru's Will. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ॥
Jin Sathigur Piaaraa Dhaekhiaa Thin Ko Ho Vaaree ||
जिन सतिगुरु पिआरा देखिआ तिन कउ हउ वारी ॥
I am dedicated and devoted to those who gaze upon the Beloved True Guru.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
Jin Gur Kee Keethee Chaakaree Thin Sadh Balihaaree ||3||
जिन गुर की कीती चाकरी तिन सद बलिहारी ॥३॥
I am forever a sacrifice to those who perform service for the Guru. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Har Har Thaeraa Naam Hai Dhukh Maettanehaaraa ||
हरि हरि तेरा नामु है दुख मेटणहारा ॥
Your Name, O Lord, Har, Har, is the Destroyer of sorrow.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥
Gur Saevaa Thae Paaeeai Guramukh Nisathaaraa ||4||
गुर सेवा ते पाईऐ गुरमुखि निसतारा ॥४॥
Serving the Guru, it is obtained, and as Gurmukh, one is emancipated. ||4||
ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥
Jo Har Naam Dhhiaaeidhae Thae Jan Paravaanaa ||
जो हरि नामु धिआइदे ते जन परवाना ॥
Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord's Name, are celebrated and acclaimed.
ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੫॥
Thin Vittahu Naanak Vaariaa Sadhaa Sadhaa Kurabaanaa ||5||
तिन विटहु नानकु वारिआ सदा सदा कुरबाना ॥५॥
Nanak is a sacrifice to them, forever and ever a devoted sacrifice. ||5||
ਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
Saa Har Thaeree Ousathath Hai Jo Har Prabh Bhaavai ||
सा हरि तेरी उसतति है जो हरि प्रभ भावै ॥
O Lord, that alone is Praise to You, which is pleasing to Your Will, O Lord God.
ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥
Jo Guramukh Piaaraa Saevadhae Thin Har Fal Paavai ||6||
जो गुरमुखि पिआरा सेवदे तिन हरि फलु पावै ॥६॥
Those Gurmukhs, who serve their Beloved Lord, obtain Him as their reward. ||6||
ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
Jinaa Har Saethee Pireharree Thinaa Jeea Prabh Naalae ||
जिना हरि सेती पिरहड़ी तिना जीअ प्रभ नाले ॥
Those who cherish love for the Lord, their souls are always with God.
ਓਇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥੭॥
Oue Jap Jap Piaaraa Jeevadhae Har Naam Samaalae ||7||
ओइ जपि जपि पिआरा जीवदे हरि नामु समाले ॥७॥
Chanting and meditating on their Beloved, they live in, and gather in, the Lord's Name. ||7||
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥
Jin Guramukh Piaaraa Saeviaa Thin Ko Ghum Jaaeiaa ||
जिन गुरमुखि पिआरा सेविआ तिन कउ घुमि जाइआ ॥
I am a sacrifice to those Gurmukhs who serve their Beloved Lord.
ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਛੁਟੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਿਉ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
Oue Aap Shhuttae Paravaar Sio Sabh Jagath Shhaddaaeiaa ||8||
ओइ आपि छुटे परवार सिउ सभु जगतु छडाइआ ॥८॥
They themselves are saved, along with their families, and through them, all the world is saved. ||8||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੋ ॥
Gur Piaarai Har Saeviaa Gur Dhhann Gur Dhhanno ||
गुरि पिआरै हरि सेविआ गुरु धंनु गुरु धंनो ॥
My Beloved Guru serves the Lord. Blessed is the Guru, Blessed is the Guru.
ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੋ ॥੯॥
Gur Har Maarag Dhasiaa Gur Punn Vadd Punno ||9||
गुरि हरि मारगु दसिआ गुर पुंनु वड पुंनो ॥९॥
The Guru has shown me the Lord's Path; the Guru has done the greatest good deed. ||9||
