ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮੈ ਪਾਇਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Karam Hovai Thaa Sathigur Paaeeai Vin Karamai Paaeiaa N Jaae ||
करमु होवै ता सतिगुरु पाईऐ विणु करमै पाइआ न जाइ ॥
If it is in his karma, then he finds the True Guru; without such karma, He cannot be found.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਈਐ ਜਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
Sathigur Miliai Kanchan Hoeeai Jaan Har Kee Hoe Rajaae ||1||
सतिगुरु मिलिऐ कंचनु होईऐ जां हरि की होइ रजाइ ॥१॥
He meets the True Guru, and he is transformed into gold, if it is the Lord's Will. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
Man Maerae Har Har Naam Chith Laae ||
मन मेरे हरि हरि नामि चितु लाइ ॥
O my mind, focus your consciousness on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਾਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सतिगुर ते हरि पाईऐ साचा हरि सिउ रहै समाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Lord is found through the True Guru, and then he remains merged with the True Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
Sathigur Thae Giaan Oopajai Thaan Eih Sansaa Jaae ||
सतिगुर ते गिआनु ऊपजै तां इह संसा जाइ ॥
Spiritual wisdom wells up through the True Guru, and then this cynicism is dispelled.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਨਹ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
Sathigur Thae Har Bujheeai Garabh Jonee Neh Paae ||2||
सतिगुर ते हरि बुझीऐ गरभ जोनी नह पाइ ॥२॥
Through the True Guru, the Lord is realized, and then, he is not consigned to the womb of reincarnation ever again. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Jeevath Marai Mar Jeevai Sabadh Kamaae ||
गुर परसादी जीवत मरै मरि जीवै सबदु कमाइ ॥
By Guru's Grace, the mortal dies in life, and by so dying, lives to practice the Word of the Shabad.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਪਾਏ ਜਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥੩॥
Mukath Dhuaaraa Soee Paaeae J Vichahu Aap Gavaae ||3||
मुकति दुआरा सोई पाए जि विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥३॥
He alone finds the Door of Salvation, who eradicates self-conceit from within himself. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਿਵ ਘਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਸਕਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Siv Ghar Janmai Vichahu Sakath Gavaae ||
गुर परसादी सिव घरि जमै विचहु सकति गवाइ ॥
By Guru's Grace, the mortal is reincarnated into the Home of the Lord, having eradicated Maya from within.
ਅਚਰੁ ਚਰੈ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਪੁਰਖੈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
Achar Charai Bibaek Budhh Paaeae Purakhai Purakh Milaae ||4||
अचरु चरै बिबेक बुधि पाए पुरखै पुरखु मिलाइ ॥४॥
He eats the uneatable, and is blessed with a discriminating intellect; he meets the Supreme Person, the Primal Lord God. ||4||
ਧਾਤੁਰ ਬਾਜੀ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਅਚੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਚਲੈ ਮੂਲੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
Dhhaathur Baajee Sansaar Achaeth Hai Chalai Mool Gavaae ||
धातुर बाजी संसारु अचेतु है चलै मूलु गवाइ ॥
The world is unconscious, like a passing show; the mortal departs, having lost his capital.
ਲਾਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੫॥
Laahaa Har Sathasangath Paaeeai Karamee Palai Paae ||5||
लाहा हरि सतसंगति पाईऐ करमी पलै पाइ ॥५॥
The profit of the Lord is obtained in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; by good karma, it is found. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਣੁ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ॥
Sathigur Vin Kinai N Paaeiaa Man Vaekhahu Ridhai Beechaar ||
सतिगुर विणु किनै न पाइआ मनि वेखहु रिदै बीचारि ॥
Without the True Guru, no one finds it; see this in your mind, and consider this in your heart.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੬॥
Vaddabhaagee Gur Paaeiaa Bhavajal Outharae Paar ||6||
वडभागी गुरु पाइआ भवजलु उतरे पारि ॥६॥
By great good fortune, the mortal finds the Guru, and crosses over the terrifying world-ocean. ||6||
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
Har Naamaan Har Ttaek Hai Har Har Naam Adhhaar ||
हरि नामां हरि टेक है हरि हरि नामु अधारु ॥
The Name of the Lord is my Anchor and Support. I take only the Support of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਪਾਵਉ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੭॥
Kirapaa Karahu Gur Maelahu Har Jeeo Paavo Mokh Dhuaar ||7||
क्रिपा करहु गुरु मेलहु हरि जीउ पावउ मोख दुआरु ॥७॥
O Dear Lord, please be kind and lead me to meet the Guru, that I may find the Door of Salvation. ||7||
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Masathak Lilaatt Likhiaa Dhhur Thaakur Maettanaa N Jaae ||
मसतकि लिलाटि लिखिआ धुरि ठाकुरि मेटणा न जाइ ॥
The pre-ordained destiny inscribed on the mortal's forehead by our Lord and Master cannot be erased.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੋਏ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਇ ॥੮॥੧॥
Naanak Sae Jan Pooran Hoeae Jin Har Bhaanaa Bhaae ||8||1||
नानक से जन पूरन होए जिन हरि भाणा भाइ ॥८॥१॥
O Nanak, those humble beings are perfect, who are pleased by the Lord's Will. ||8||1||

ਬੇਦ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਗੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Baedh Baanee Jag Varathadhaa Thrai Gun Karae Beechaar ||
बेद बाणी जगु वरतदा त्रै गुण करे बीचारु ॥
The world is involved with the words of the Vedas, thinking about the three gunas - the three dispositions.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜਮ ਡੰਡੁ ਸਹੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥
Bin Naavai Jam Ddandd Sehai Mar Janamai Vaaro Vaar ||
बिनु नावै जम डंडु सहै मरि जनमै वारो वार ॥
Without the Name, it suffers punishment by the Messenger of Death; it comes and goes in reincarnation, over and over again.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਾਏ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥੧॥
Sathigur Bhaettae Mukath Hoe Paaeae Mokh Dhuaar ||1||
सतिगुर भेटे मुकति होइ पाए मोख दुआरु ॥१॥
Meeting with the True Guru, the world is liberated, and finds the Door of Salvation. ||1||

मन रे सतिगुरु सेवि समाइ ॥
O mortal, immerse yourself in service to the True Guru.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Vaddai Bhaag Gur Pooraa Paaeiaa Har Har Naam Dhhiaae ||1|| Rehaao ||
वडै भागि गुरु पूरा पाइआ हरि हरि नामु धिआइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
By great good fortune, the mortal finds the Perfect Guru, and meditates on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
Har Aapanai Bhaanai Srisatt Oupaaee Har Aapae Dhaee Adhhaar ||
हरि आपणै भाणै स्रिसटि उपाई हरि आपे देइ अधारु ॥
The Lord, by the Pleasure of His Own Will, created the Universe, and the Lord Himself gives it sustenance and support.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗਾ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Har Aapanai Bhaanai Man Niramal Keeaa Har Sio Laagaa Piaar ||
हरि आपणै भाणै मनु निरमलु कीआ हरि सिउ लागा पिआरु ॥
The Lord, by His Own Will, makes the mortal's mind immaculate, and lovingly attunes him to the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Har Kai Bhaanai Sathigur Bhaettiaa Sabh Janam Savaaranehaar ||2||
हरि कै भाणै सतिगुरु भेटिआ सभु जनमु सवारणहारु ॥२॥
The Lord, by His Own Will, leads the mortal to meet the True Guru, the Embellisher of all his lives. ||2||
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Vaahu Vaahu Baanee Sath Hai Guramukh Boojhai Koe ||
वाहु वाहु बाणी सति है गुरमुखि बूझै कोइ ॥
Waaho! Waaho! Blessed and Great is the True Word of His Bani. Only a few, as Gurmukh, understand.
ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Vaahu Vaahu Kar Prabh Saalaaheeai This Jaevadd Avar N Koe ||
वाहु वाहु करि प्रभु सालाहीऐ तिसु जेवडु अवरु न कोइ ॥
Waaho! Waaho! Praise God as Great! No one else is as Great as He.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
Aapae Bakhasae Mael Leae Karam Paraapath Hoe ||3||
आपे बखसे मेलि लए करमि परापति होइ ॥३॥
When God's Grace is received, He Himself forgives the mortal, and unites him with Himself. ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਾਹਰੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥
Saachaa Saahib Maaharo Sathigur Dheeaa Dhikhaae ||
साचा साहिबु माहरो सतिगुरि दीआ दिखाइ ॥
The True Guru has revealed our True, Supreme Lord and Master.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਮਨੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੀਐ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Anmrith Varasai Man Santhokheeai Sach Rehai Liv Laae ||
अम्रितु वरसै मनु संतोखीऐ सचि रहै लिव लाइ ॥
The Ambrosial Nectar rains down and the mind is satisfied, remaining lovingly attuned to the True Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਨਾਇ ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੁਕੈ ਨਾ ਕੁਮਲਾਇ ॥੪॥
Har Kai Naae Sadhaa Hareeaavalee Fir Sukai Naa Kumalaae ||4||
हरि कै नाइ सदा हरीआवली फिरि सुकै ना कुमलाइ ॥४॥
In the Lord's Name, it is forever rejuvenated; it shall never wither and dry up again. ||4||
