ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਜੀਅਨ ਕੋ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Sathigur Dhaathaa Jeea Jeean Ko Bhaageheen Nehee Bhaavaigo ||
सतिगुरु दाता जीअ जीअन को भागहीन नही भावैगो ॥
The True Guru is the Giver of the life of the soul, but the unfortunate ones do not love Him.
ਫਿਰਿ ਏਹ ਵੇਲਾ ਹਾਥਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਪਰਤਾਪੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੭॥
Fir Eaeh Vaelaa Haathh N Aavai Parathaapai Pashhuthaavaigo ||7||
फिरि एह वेला हाथि न आवै परतापै पछुतावैगो ॥७॥
This opportunity shall not come into their hands again; in the end, they will suffer in torment and regret. ||7||
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਭਲਾ ਲੋੜੈ ਭਲ ਅਪਨਾ ਗੁਰ ਆਗੈ ਢਹਿ ਢਹਿ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Jae Ko Bhalaa Lorrai Bhal Apanaa Gur Aagai Dtehi Dtehi Paavaigo ||
जे को भला लोड़ै भल अपना गुर आगै ढहि ढहि पावैगो ॥
If a good person seeks goodness for himself, he should bow low in humble surrender to the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਸਮ ਲਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੮॥੩॥

नानक दइआ दइआ करि ठाकुर मै सतिगुर भसम लगावैगो ॥८॥३॥
Nanak prays: please show kindness and compassion to me, O my Lord and Master, that I may apply the dust of the True Guru to my forehead. ||8||3||

मनु हरि रंगि राता गावैगो ॥
O mind, be attuned to His Love, and sing.
ਭੈ ਭੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਲਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

भै भै त्रास भए है निरमल गुरमति लागि लगावैगो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Fear of God makes me fearless and immaculate; I am dyed in the color of the Guru's Teachings. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਦ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਤਿਨਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
Har Rang Raathaa Sadh Bairaagee Har Nikatt Thinaa Ghar Aavaigo ||
हरि रंगि राता सद बैरागी हरि निकटि तिना घरि आवैगो ॥
Those who are attuned to the Lord's Love remain balanced and detached forever; they live near the Lord, who comes into their house.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਪੰਕ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥
Thin Kee Pank Milai Thaan Jeevaa Kar Kirapaa Aap Dhivaavaigo ||1||
तिन की पंक मिलै तां जीवा करि किरपा आपि दिवावैगो ॥१॥
If I am blessed with the dust of their feet, then I live. Granting His Grace, He Himself bestows it. ||1||
ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਲੋਭਿ ਲਗੇ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਰੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
Dhubidhhaa Lobh Lagae Hai Praanee Man Korai Rang N Aavaigo ||
दुबिधा लोभि लगे है प्राणी मनि कोरै रंगु न आवैगो ॥
Mortal beings are attached to greed and duality. Their minds are unripe and unfit, and will not accept the Dye of His Love.
ਫਿਰਿ ਉਲਟਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੨॥
Fir Oulattiou Janam Hovai Gur Bachanee Gur Purakh Milai Rang Laavaigo ||2||
फिरि उलटिओ जनमु होवै गुर बचनी गुरु पुरखु मिलै रंगु लावैगो ॥२॥
But their lives are transformed through the Word of the Guru's Teachings. Meeting with the Guru, the Primal Being, they are dyed in the color of His Love. ||2||
ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਦਸੇ ਦਸੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਵਤ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਗੁਣੀਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਨ ਟਿਕਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Eindhree Dhasae Dhasae Fun Dhhaavath Thrai Guneeaa Khin N Ttikaavaigo ||
इंद्री दसे दसे फुनि धावत त्रै गुणीआ खिनु न टिकावैगो ॥
There are ten organs of sense and action; the ten wander unrestrained. Under the influence of the three dispositions, they are not stable, even for an instant.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਮੋਖ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੩॥
Sathigur Parachai Vasagath Aavai Mokh Mukath So Paavaigo ||3||
सतिगुर परचै वसगति आवै मोख मुकति सो पावैगो ॥३॥
Coming in contact with the True Guru, they are brought under control; then, salvation and liberation are attained. ||3||
ਓਅੰਕਾਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਏਕਸ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Ouankaar Eaeko Rav Rehiaa Sabh Eaekas Maahi Samaavaigo ||
ओअंकारि एको रवि रहिआ सभु एकस माहि समावैगो ॥
The One and Only Creator of the Universe is All-pervading everywhere. All shall once again merge into the One.
ਏਕੋ ਰੂਪੁ ਏਕੋ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ਸਭੁ ਏਕਤੁ ਬਚਨਿ ਚਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੪॥
Eaeko Roop Eaeko Bahu Rangee Sabh Eaekath Bachan Chalaavaigo ||4||
एको रूपु एको बहु रंगी सभु एकतु बचनि चलावैगो ॥४॥
His One Form has one, and many colors; He leads all according to His One Word. ||4||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ਲਖਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Guramukh Eaeko Eaek Pashhaathaa Guramukh Hoe Lakhaavaigo ||
गुरमुखि एको एकु पछाता गुरमुखि होइ लखावैगो ॥
The Gurmukh realizes the One and Only Lord; He is revealed to the Gurmukh.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਨਿਜ ਮਹਲੀ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦੁ ਬਜਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੫॥
Guramukh Jaae Milai Nij Mehalee Anehadh Sabadh Bajaavaigo ||5||
गुरमुखि जाइ मिलै निज महली अनहद सबदु बजावैगो ॥५॥
The Gurmukh goes and meets the Lord in His Mansion deep within; the Unstruck Word of the Shabad vibrates there. ||5||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭ ਸਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Jeea Janth Sabh Sisatt Oupaaee Guramukh Sobhaa Paavaigo ||
जीअ जंत सभ सिसटि उपाई गुरमुखि सोभा पावैगो ॥
God created all the beings and creatures of the universe; He blesses the Gurmukh with glory.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਕੋ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਆਇ ਜਾਇ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੬॥
Bin Gur Bhaettae Ko Mehal N Paavai Aae Jaae Dhukh Paavaigo ||6||
बिनु गुर भेटे को महलु न पावै आइ जाइ दुखु पावैगो ॥६॥
Without meeting the Guru, no one obtains the Mansion of His Presence. They suffer the agony of coming and going in reincarnation. ||6||
ਅਨੇਕ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Anaek Janam Vishhurrae Maerae Preetham Kar Kirapaa Guroo Milaavaigo ||
अनेक जनम विछुड़े मेरे प्रीतम करि किरपा गुरू मिलावैगो ॥
For countless lifetimes, I have been separated from my Beloved; in His Mercy, the Guru has united me with Him.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਤ ਮਹਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਤਿ ਮਲੀਨ ਬਿਗਸਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੭॥
Sathigur Milath Mehaa Sukh Paaeiaa Math Maleen Bigasaavaigo ||7||
सतिगुर मिलत महा सुखु पाइआ मति मलीन बिगसावैगो ॥७॥
Meeting the True Guru, I have found absolute peace, and my polluted intellect blossoms forth. ||7||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਮੈ ਸਰਧਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Har Har Kirapaa Karahu Jagajeevan Mai Saradhhaa Naam Lagaavaigo ||
हरि हरि क्रिपा करहु जगजीवन मै सरधा नामि लगावैगो ॥
O Lord, Har, Har, please grant Your Grace; O Life of the World, instill faith in the Naam within me.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਰਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੮॥੪॥

नानक गुरू गुरू है सतिगुरु मै सतिगुरु सरनि मिलावैगो ॥८॥४॥

Jio Maigal Masath Dheejai Thal Kunddae Gur Ankas Sabadh Dhrirraavaigo ||1|| Rehaao ||
जिउ मैगलु मसतु दीजै तलि कुंडे गुर अंकसु सबदु द्रिड़ावैगो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Just as the wild elephant is subdued by the prod, the mind is disciplined by the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਚਲਤੌ ਚਲੈ ਚਲੈ ਦਹ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Chalatha Chalai Chalai Dheh Dheh Dhis Gur Raakhai Har Liv Laavaigo ||
चलतौ चलै चलै दह दह दिसि गुरु राखै हरि लिव लावैगो ॥
The wandering mind wanders, roams and rambles in the ten directions; but the Guru holds it, and lovingly attunes it to the Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਦੇਇ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਚੁਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥
Sathigur Sabadh Dhaee Ridh Anthar Mukh Anmrith Naam Chuaavaigo ||1||
सतिगुरु सबदु देइ रिद अंतरि मुखि अम्रितु नामु चुआवैगो ॥१॥
The True Guru implants the Word of the Shabad deep within the heart; the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, trickles into the mouth. ||1||
ਬਿਸੀਅਰ ਬਿਸੂ ਭਰੇ ਹੈ ਪੂਰਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਗਰੁੜ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Biseear Bisoo Bharae Hai Pooran Gur Garurr Sabadh Mukh Paavaigo ||
बिसीअर बिसू भरे है पूरन गुरु गरुड़ सबदु मुखि पावैगो ॥
The snakes are filled with poisonous venom; the Word of the Guru's Shabad is the antidote - place it in your mouth.
ਮਾਇਆ ਭੁਇਅੰਗ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਖੁ ਝਾਰਿ ਝਾਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੨॥
Maaeiaa Bhueiang This Naerr N Aavai Bikh Jhaar Jhaar Liv Laavaigo ||2||
माइआ भुइअंग तिसु नेड़ि न आवै बिखु झारि झारि लिव लावैगो ॥२॥
Maya, the serpent, does not even approach one who is rid of the poison, and lovingly attuned to the Lord. ||2||
ਸੁਆਨੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਨਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਸਬਲਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Suaan Lobh Nagar Mehi Sabalaa Gur Khin Mehi Maar Kadtaavaigo ||
सुआनु लोभु नगर महि सबला गुरु खिन महि मारि कढावैगो ॥
The dog of greed is very powerful in the village of the body; the Guru strikes it and drives it out in an instant.
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਆਨਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਗਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੩॥
Sath Santhokh Dhharam Aan Raakhae Har Nagaree Har Gun Gaavaigo ||3||
सतु संतोखु धरमु आनि राखे हरि नगरी हरि गुन गावैगो ॥३॥
Truth, contentment, righteousness and Dharma have settled there; in the village of the Lord, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
