ਪੰਕਜ ਮੋਹ ਨਿਘਰਤੁ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਨਿਘਰਤ ਕਾਢਿ ਕਢਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Pankaj Moh Nigharath Hai Praanee Gur Nigharath Kaadt Kadtaavaigo ||
पंकज मोह निघरतु है प्रानी गुरु निघरत काढि कढावैगो ॥
The mortal beings are sinking in the swamp of emotional attachment; the Guru lifts them up, and saves them from sinking.
ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਜਨ ਆਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਹਾਥੀ ਦੇ ਨਿਕਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੪॥
Thraahi Thraahi Saran Jan Aaeae Gur Haathhee Dhae Nikalaavaigo ||4||
त्राहि त्राहि सरनि जन आए गुरु हाथी दे निकलावैगो ॥४॥
Crying, ""Save me! Save me!"", the humble come to His Sanctuary; the Guru reaches out His Hand, and lifts them up. ||4||
ਸੁਪਨੰਤਰੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਜੀ ਸਭੁ ਬਾਜੀ ਖੇਲੁ ਖਿਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Supananthar Sansaar Sabh Baajee Sabh Baajee Khael Khilaavaigo ||
सुपनंतरु संसारु सभु बाजी सभु बाजी खेलु खिलावैगो ॥
The whole world is like a game in a dream, all a game. God plays and causes the game to be played.
ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਲੈ ਚਾਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਧਾ ਜਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੫॥
Laahaa Naam Guramath Lai Chaalahu Har Dharageh Paidhhaa Jaavaigo ||5||
लाहा नामु गुरमति लै चालहु हरि दरगह पैधा जावैगो ॥५॥
So earn the Profit of the Naam by following the Guru's Teachings; you shall go to the Court of the Lord in robes of honor. ||5||
ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰੈ ਕਰਾਵੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਪਾਪ ਕੋਇਲੇ ਆਨਿ ਜਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Houmai Karai Karaavai Houmai Paap Koeilae Aan Jamaavaigo ||
हउमै करै करावै हउमै पाप कोइले आनि जमावैगो ॥
They act in egotism, and make others act in egotism; they collect and gather up the blackness of sin.
ਆਇਆ ਕਾਲੁ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਹੋਏ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੇ ਸੋ ਖਵਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੬॥
Aaeiaa Kaal Dhukhadhaaee Hoeae Jo Beejae So Khavalaavaigo ||6||
आइआ कालु दुखदाई होए जो बीजे सो खवलावैगो ॥६॥
And when death comes, they suffer in agony; they must eat what they have planted. ||6||
ਸੰਤਹੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਹੁ ਲੈ ਖਰਚੁ ਚਲੇ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Santhahu Raam Naam Dhhan Sanchahu Lai Kharach Chalae Path Paavaigo ||
संतहु राम नामु धनु संचहु लै खरचु चले पति पावैगो ॥
O Saints, gather the Wealth of the Lord's Name; if you depart after packing these provisions, you shall be honored.
ਖਾਇ ਖਰਚਿ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੭॥
Khaae Kharach Dhaevehi Bahuthaeraa Har Dhaedhae Thott N Aavaigo ||7||
खाइ खरचि देवहि बहुतेरा हरि देदे तोटि न आवैगो ॥७॥
So eat, spend, consume and give abundantly; the Lord will give - there will be no deficiency. ||7||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਹੈ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Raam Naam Dhhan Hai Ridh Anthar Dhhan Gur Saranaaee Paavaigo ||
राम नाम धनु है रिद अंतरि धनु गुर सरणाई पावैगो ॥
The wealth of the Lord's Name is deep within the heart. In the Sanctuary of the Guru, this wealth is found.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਇਆ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਭੰਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੮॥੫॥
Naanak Dhaeiaa Dhaeiaa Kar Dheenee Dhukh Dhaaladh Bhanj Samaavaigo ||8||5||
नानक दइआ दइआ करि दीनी दुखु दालदु भंजि समावैगो ॥८॥५॥
O Nanak, God has been kind and compassionate; He has blessed me. Removing pain and poverty, He has blended me with Himself. ||8||5||

मनु सतिगुर सरनि धिआवैगो ॥
O mind, seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru, and meditate.
ਲੋਹਾ ਹਿਰਨੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਰਸ ਗੁਨੁ ਪਾਰਸ ਕੋ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Lohaa Hiran Hovai Sang Paaras Gun Paaras Ko Hoe Aavaigo ||1|| Rehaao ||
लोहा हिरनु होवै संगि पारस गुनु पारस को होइ आवैगो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Iron is transformed into gold by touching the philosopher's stone; it takes on its qualities. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਜੋ ਲਾਗੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Sathigur Mehaa Purakh Hai Paaras Jo Laagai So Fal Paavaigo ||
सतिगुरु महा पुरखु है पारसु जो लागै सो फलु पावैगो ॥
The True Guru, the Great Primal Being, is the philosopher's stone. Whoever is attached to Him receives fruitful rewards.
ਜਿਉ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਤਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਲਾਦਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੧॥
Jio Gur Oupadhaes Tharae Prehilaadhaa Gur Saevak Paij Rakhaavaigo ||1||
जिउ गुर उपदेसि तरे प्रहिलादा गुरु सेवक पैज रखावैगो ॥१॥
Just as Prahlaad was saved by the Guru's Teachings, the Guru protects the honor of His servant. ||1||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੁ ਬਚਨੁ ਹੈ ਨੀਕੋ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Sathigur Bachan Bachan Hai Neeko Gur Bachanee Anmrith Paavaigo ||
सतिगुर बचनु बचनु है नीको गुर बचनी अम्रितु पावैगो ॥
The Word of the True Guru is the most Sublime and Noble Word. Through the Guru's Word, the Ambrosial Nectar is obtained.
ਜਿਉ ਅੰਬਰੀਕਿ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦ ਪਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੁਖ ਬਚਨ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥੨॥
Jio Anbareek Amaraa Padh Paaeae Sathigur Mukh Bachan Dhhiaavaigo ||2||
जिउ अ्मबरीकि अमरा पद पाए सतिगुर मुख बचन धिआवैगो ॥२॥
Ambreek the king was blessed with the status of immortality, meditating on the Word of the True Guru. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਸਰਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਧਾ ਸੁਧਾ ਕਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
Sathigur Saran Saran Man Bhaaee Sudhhaa Sudhhaa Kar Dhhiaavaigo ||
सतिगुर सरनि सरनि मनि भाई सुधा सुधा करि धिआवैगो ॥
The Sanctuary, the Protection and Sanctuary of the True Guru is pleasing to the mind. It is sacred and pure - meditate on it.
ਦਇਆਲ ਦੀਨ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਪੰਥੁ ਦਿਖਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੩॥
Dhaeiaal Dheen Bheae Hai Sathigur Har Maarag Panthh Dhikhaavaigo ||3||
दइआल दीन भए है सतिगुर हरि मारगु पंथु दिखावैगो ॥३॥
The True Guru has become Merciful to the meek and the poor; He has shown me the Path, the Way to the Lord. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਨਿ ਪਏ ਸੇ ਥਾਪੇ ਤਿਨ ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
Sathigur Saran Peae Sae Thhaapae Thin Raakhan Ko Prabh Aavaigo ||
सतिगुर सरनि पए से थापे तिन राखन कउ प्रभु आवैगो ॥
Those who enter the Sanctuary of the True Guru are firmly established; God comes to protect them.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਸਰੁ ਸੰਧੈ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਉਲਟੋ ਤਿਸੈ ਲਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੪॥
Jae Ko Sar Sandhhai Jan Oopar Fir Oulatto Thisai Lagaavaigo ||4||
जे को सरु संधै जन ऊपरि फिरि उलटो तिसै लगावैगो ॥४॥
If someone aims an arrow at the Lord's humble servant, it will turn around and hit him instead. ||4||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੁ ਦਿਵਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Har Har Har Har Har Sar Saevehi Thin Dharageh Maan Dhivaavaigo ||
हरि हरि हरि हरि हरि सरु सेवहि तिन दरगह मानु दिवावैगो ॥
Those who bathe in the Sacred Pool of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, Har, are blessed with honor in His Court.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੫॥
Guramath Guramath Guramath Dhhiaavehi Har Gal Mil Mael Milaavaigo ||5||
गुरमति गुरमति गुरमति धिआवहि हरि गलि मिलि मेलि मिलावैगो ॥५॥
Those who meditate on the Guru's Teachings, the Guru's Instructions, the Guru's Wisdom, are united in the Lord's Union; He hugs them close in His Embrace. ||5||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਦੁ ਬੇਦੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਚੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
Guramukh Naadh Baedh Hai Guramukh Gur Parachai Naam Dhhiaavaigo ||
गुरमुखि नादु बेदु है गुरमुखि गुर परचै नामु धिआवैगो ॥
The Guru's Word is the Sound-current of the Naad, The Guru's Word is the wisdom of the Vedas; coming in contact with the Guru, meditate on the Naam.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੂਪੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪੂਜ ਕਰਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੬॥
Har Har Roop Har Roopo Hovai Har Jan Ko Pooj Karaavaigo ||6||
हरि हरि रूपु हरि रूपो होवै हरि जन कउ पूज करावैगो ॥६॥
In the Image of the Lord, Har, Har, one becomes the Embodiment of the Lord. The Lord makes His humble servant worthy of worship. ||6||
ਸਾਕਤ ਨਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਕੀਆ ਤੇ ਬੇਮੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਭਰਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥
Saakath Nar Sathigur Nehee Keeaa Thae Baemukh Har Bharamaavaigo ||
साकत नर सतिगुरु नही कीआ ते बेमुख हरि भरमावैगो ॥
The faithless cynic does not submit to the True Guru; the Lord makes the non-believer wander in confusion.
ਲੋਭ ਲਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰੰਗਿ ਲਗਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੭॥
Lobh Lehar Suaan Kee Sangath Bikh Maaeiaa Karang Lagaavaigo ||7||
लोभ लहरि सुआन की संगति बिखु माइआ करंगि लगावैगो ॥७॥
The waves of greed are like packs of dogs. The poison of Maya sticks to the body-skeleton. ||7||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭ ਜਗ ਕਾ ਤਾਰਕੁ ਲਗਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈਗੋ ॥
Raam Naam Sabh Jag Kaa Thaarak Lag Sangath Naam Dhhiaavaigo ||
राम नामु सभ जग का तारकु लगि संगति नामु धिआवैगो ॥
The Lord's Name is the Saving Grace of the whole world; join the Sangat, and meditate on the Naam.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਖੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਾਖਿ ਸਮਾਵੈਗੋ ॥੮॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
Naanak Raakh Raakh Prabh Maerae Sathasangath Raakh Samaavaigo ||8||6||
नानक राखु राखु प्रभ मेरे सतसंगति राखि समावैगो ॥८॥६॥ छका १ ॥
O my God, please protect and preserve Nanak in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation; save him, and let him merge in You. ||8||6||
