बलु अबलु किआ इस ते होई ॥४॥
What power or weakness does she have by herself? ||4||
ਇਹ ਬਸਤੀ ਤਾ ਬਸਤ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥

इह बसती ता बसत सरीरा ॥
If she abides with the mortal, then his soul abides in his body.

Why bother to sing the Lord's Praises to the faithless cynic? ||1||

राम राम राम रमे रमि रहीऐ ॥
Remain absorbed in the Lord's Name, Raam, Raam, Raam.
ਸਾਕਤ ਸਿਉ ਭੂਲਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਹੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Do not bother to speak of it to the faithless cynic, even by mistake. ||1||Pause||

कऊआ कहा कपूर चराए ॥
Why offer camphor to a crow?
ਕਹ ਬਿਸੀਅਰ ਕਉ ਦੂਧੁ ਪੀਆਏ ॥੨॥
Keh Biseear Ko Dhoodhh Peeaaeae ||2||
कह बिसीअर कउ दूधु पीआए ॥२॥
Why give the snake milk to drink? ||2||
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਈ ॥
Sathasangath Mil Bibaek Budhh Hoee ||
सतसंगति मिलि बिबेक बुधि होई ॥
Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, discriminating understanding is attained.
ਪਾਰਸੁ ਪਰਸਿ ਲੋਹਾ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥
Paaras Paras Lohaa Kanchan Soee ||3||
पारसु परसि लोहा कंचनु सोई ॥३॥
That iron which touches the Philosopher's Stone becomes gold. ||3||
ਸਾਕਤੁ ਸੁਆਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥
Saakath Suaan Sabh Karae Karaaeiaa ||
साकतु सुआनु सभु करे कराइआ ॥
The dog, the faithless cynic, does everything as the Lord causes him to do.
ਜੋ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
Jo Dhhur Likhiaa S Karam Kamaaeiaa ||4||
जो धुरि लिखिआ सु करम कमाइआ ॥४॥
He does the deeds pre-ordained from the very beginning. ||4||
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਲੈ ਲੈ ਨੀਮੁ ਸਿੰਚਾਈ ॥
Anmrith Lai Lai Neem Sinchaaee ||
अम्रितु लै लै नीमु सिंचाई ॥
If you take Ambrosial Nectar and irrigate the neem tree with it,
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਉਆ ਕੋ ਸਹਜੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੫॥੭॥੨੦॥

A fortress like that of Sri Lanka, with the ocean as a moat around it

तिह रावन घर खबरि न पाई ॥१॥
- there is no news about that house of Raavan. ||1||
ਕਿਆ ਮਾਗਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਿਰੁ ਨ ਰਹਾਈ ॥

किआ मागउ किछु थिरु न रहाई ॥
What shall I ask for? Nothing is permanent.

I see with my eyes that the world is passing away. ||1||Pause||

इकु लखु पूत सवा लखु नाती ॥
Thousands of sons and thousands of grandsons
ਤਿਹ ਰਾਵਨ ਘਰ ਦੀਆ ਨ ਬਾਤੀ ॥੨॥
Thih Raavan Ghar Dheeaa N Baathee ||2||
तिह रावन घर दीआ न बाती ॥२॥
- but in that house of Raavan, the lamps and wicks have gone out. ||2||
ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਤਪਤ ਰਸੋਈ ॥

चंदु सूरजु जा के तपत रसोई ॥
The moon and the sun cooked his food.
ਬੈਸੰਤਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਕਪਰੇ ਧੋਈ ॥੩॥
Baisanthar Jaa Kae Kaparae Dhhoee ||3||
बैसंतरु जा के कपरे धोई ॥३॥
The fire washed his clothes. ||3||

गुरमति रामै नामि बसाई ॥
Under Guru's Instructions, one whose mind is filled with the Lord's Name,
ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੈ ਨ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥

असथिरु रहै न कतहूं जाई ॥४॥
Becomes permanent, and does not go anywhere. ||4||

जल की मछुली तरवरि बिआई ॥
The fish of the water gives birth upon a tree.
ਦੇਖਤ ਕੁਤਰਾ ਲੈ ਗਈ ਬਿਲਾਈ ॥੨॥
Dhaekhath Kutharaa Lai Gee Bilaaee ||2||
देखत कुतरा लै गई बिलाई ॥२॥
I saw a cat carrying away a dog. ||2||
ਤਲੈ ਰੇ ਬੈਸਾ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੂਲਾ ॥

तलै रे बैसा ऊपरि सूला ॥
The branches are below, and the roots are above.
ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪੇਡਿ ਲਗੇ ਫਲ ਫੂਲਾ ॥੩॥
This Kai Paedd Lagae Fal Foolaa ||3||
तिस कै पेडि लगे फल फूला ॥३॥
The trunk of that tree bears fruits and flowers. ||3||
ਘੋਰੈ ਚਰਿ ਭੈਸ ਚਰਾਵਨ ਜਾਈ ॥

घोरै चरि भैस चरावन जाई ॥
Riding a horse, the buffalo takes him out to graze.
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਬੈਲੁ ਗੋਨਿ ਘਰਿ ਆਈ ॥੪॥
Baahar Bail Gon Ghar Aaee ||4||
बाहरि बैलु गोनि घरि आई ॥४॥
The bull is away, while his load has come home. ||4||

The Lord created the body from sperm, and protected it in the fire pit.
ਦਸ ਮਾਸ ਮਾਤਾ ਉਦਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Dhas Maas Maathaa Oudhar Raakhiaa Bahur Laagee Maaeiaa ||1||
दस मास माता उदरि राखिआ बहुरि लागी माइआ ॥१॥
For ten months He preserved you in your mother's womb, and then, after you were born, you became attached to Maya. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਲੋਭਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਰਤਨ ਜਨਮੁ ਖੋਇਆ ॥
Praanee Kaahae Ko Lobh Laagae Rathan Janam Khoeiaa ||
प्रानी काहे कउ लोभि लागे रतन जनमु खोइआ ॥
O mortal, why have you attached yourself to greed, and lost the jewel of life?
ਪੂਰਬ ਜਨਮਿ ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮਿ ਬੀਜੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬੋਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Baarik Thae Biradhh Bhaeiaa Honaa So Hoeiaa ||
बारिक ते बिरधि भइआ होना सो होइआ ॥
From an infant, you have grown old. That which was to happen, has happened.
