ਮੇਰੀ ਬਹੁਰੀਆ ਕੋ ਧਨੀਆ ਨਾਉ ॥
Maeree Bahureeaa Ko Dhhaneeaa Naao ||
मेरी बहुरीआ को धनीआ नाउ ॥
My daughter-in-law was first called Dhannia, the woman of wealth,
ਲੇ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਜਨੀਆ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥
Lae Raakhiou Raam Janeeaa Naao ||1||
ले राखिओ राम जनीआ नाउ ॥१॥
But now she is called Raam-jannia, the servant of the Lord. ||1||
ਇਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਮੁੰਡੀਅਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰੁ ਧੁੰਧਰਾਵਾ ॥
Einh Munddeean Maeraa Ghar Dhhundhharaavaa ||
इन्ह मुंडीअन मेरा घरु धुंधरावा ॥
These shaven-headed saints have ruined my house.
ਬਿਟਵਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਮਊਆ ਲਾਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bittavehi Raam Ramooaa Laavaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
बिटवहि राम रमऊआ लावा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
They have caused my son to start chanting the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||

इन्ह मुंडीअन मेरी जाति गवाई ॥२॥३॥३३॥
These shaven-headed saints have done away with my low social status. ||2||3||33||

ਰਹੁ ਰਹੁ ਰੀ ਬਹੁਰੀਆ ਘੂੰਘਟੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਾਢੈ ॥
Rahu Rahu Ree Bahureeaa Ghoonghatt Jin Kaadtai ||
रहु रहु री बहुरीआ घूंघटु जिनि काढै ॥
Stay, stay, O daughter-in-law - do not cover your face with a veil.
ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਲਹੈਗੀ ਨ ਆਢੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अंत की बार लहैगी न आढै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
In the end, this shall not bring you even half a shell. ||1||Pause||
ਘੂੰਘਟੁ ਕਾਢਿ ਗਈ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਗੈ ॥
Ghoonghatt Kaadt Gee Thaeree Aagai ||
घूंघटु काढि गई तेरी आगै ॥
The one before you used to veil her face;
ਉਨ ਕੀ ਗੈਲਿ ਤੋਹਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਲਾਗੈ ॥੧॥
Oun Kee Gail Thohi Jin Laagai ||1||
उन की गैलि तोहि जिनि लागै ॥१॥
Do not follow in her footsteps. ||1||
ਘੂੰਘਟ ਕਾਢੇ ਕੀ ਇਹੈ ਬਡਾਈ ॥
Ghoonghatt Kaadtae Kee Eihai Baddaaee ||
घूंघट काढे की इहै बडाई ॥
The only merit in veiling your face is
ਦਿਨ ਦਸ ਪਾਂਚ ਬਹੂ ਭਲੇ ਆਈ ॥੨॥
Dhin Dhas Paanch Behoo Bhalae Aaee ||2||
दिन दस पांच बहू भले आई ॥२॥
That for a few days, people will say, ""What a noble bride has come"". ||2||
ਘੂੰਘਟੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਤਉ ਪਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ॥

घूंघटु तेरो तउ परि साचै ॥
Your veil shall be true only if
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਕੂਦਹਿ ਅਰੁ ਨਾਚੈ ॥੩॥
Har Gun Gaae Koodhehi Ar Naachai ||3||
हरि गुन गाइ कूदहि अरु नाचै ॥३॥
You skip, dance and sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਬਹੂ ਤਬ ਜੀਤੈ ॥
Kehath Kabeer Behoo Thab Jeethai ||
कहत कबीर बहू तब जीतै ॥
Says Kabeer, the soul-bride shall win,
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਤੀਤੈ ॥੪॥੧॥੩੪॥
Har Gun Gaavath Janam Bitheethai ||4||1||34||
हरि गुन गावत जनमु बितीतै ॥४॥१॥३४॥
Only if she passes her life singing the Lord's Praises. ||4||1||34||

ਕਰਵਤੁ ਭਲਾ ਨ ਕਰਵਟ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
Karavath Bhalaa N Karavatt Thaeree ||
करवतु भला न करवट तेरी ॥
I would rather be cut apart by a saw, than have You turn Your back on me.
ਲਾਗੁ ਗਲੇ ਸੁਨੁ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ॥੧॥
Laag Galae Sun Binathee Maeree ||1||
लागु गले सुनु बिनती मेरी ॥१॥
Hug me close, and listen to my prayer. ||1||
ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਮੁਖੁ ਫੇਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
Ho Vaaree Mukh Faer Piaarae ||
हउ वारी मुखु फेरि पिआरे ॥
I am a sacrifice to You - please, turn Your face to me, O Beloved Lord.
ਕਰਵਟੁ ਦੇ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਾਹੇ ਕਉ ਮਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Karavatt Dhae Mo Ko Kaahae Ko Maarae ||1|| Rehaao ||
करवटु दे मो कउ काहे कउ मारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Why have You turned Your back to me? Why have You killed me? ||1||Pause||
ਜਉ ਤਨੁ ਚੀਰਹਿ ਅੰਗੁ ਨ ਮੋਰਉ ॥
Jo Than Cheerehi Ang N Moro ||
जउ तनु चीरहि अंगु न मोरउ ॥
Even if You cut my body apart, I shall not pull my limbs away from You.
ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਰੈ ਤਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਤੋਰਉ ॥੨॥

पिंडु परै तउ प्रीति न तोरउ ॥२॥
Even if my body falls, I shall not break my bonds of love with You. ||2||
ਹਮ ਤੁਮ ਬੀਚੁ ਭਇਓ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਈ ॥
Ham Thum Beech Bhaeiou Nehee Koee ||
हम तुम बीचु भइओ नही कोई ॥
Between You and I, there is no other.
ਤੁਮਹਿ ਸੁ ਕੰਤ ਨਾਰਿ ਹਮ ਸੋਈ ॥੩॥

तुमहि सु कंत नारि हम सोई ॥३॥
You are the Husband Lord, and I am the soul-bride. ||3||

Koree Ko Kaahoo Maram N Jaanaan ||
कोरी को काहू मरमु न जानां ॥
No one knows the secret of God, the Cosmic Weaver.
ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਆਨਿ ਤਨਾਇਓ ਤਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sabh Jag Aan Thanaaeiou Thaanaan ||1|| Rehaao ||
सभु जगु आनि तनाइओ तानां ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He has stretched out the fabric of the whole world. ||1||Pause||
ਜਬ ਤੁਮ ਸੁਨਿ ਲੇ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ॥
Jab Thum Sun Lae Baedh Puraanaan ||
जब तुम सुनि ले बेद पुरानां ॥
When you listen to the Vedas and the Puraanas,
ਤਬ ਹਮ ਇਤਨਕੁ ਪਸਰਿਓ ਤਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥
Thab Ham Eithanak Pasariou Thaanaan ||1||
तब हम इतनकु पसरिओ तानां ॥१॥
You shall know that the whole world is only a small piece of His woven fabric. ||1||
ਧਰਨਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਕੀ ਕਰਗਹ ਬਨਾਈ ॥
Dhharan Akaas Kee Karageh Banaaee ||
धरनि अकास की करगह बनाई ॥
He has made the earth and sky His loom.
ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਾਥ ਚਲਾਈ ॥੨॥
Chandh Sooraj Dhue Saathh Chalaaee ||2||
चंदु सूरजु दुइ साथ चलाई ॥२॥
Upon it, He moves the two bobbins of the sun and the moon. ||2||
ਪਾਈ ਜੋਰਿ ਬਾਤ ਇਕ ਕੀਨੀ ਤਹ ਤਾਂਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਾਂ ॥
Paaee Jor Baath Eik Keenee Theh Thaanthee Man Maanaan ||
पाई जोरि बात इक कीनी तह तांती मनु मानां ॥
Placing my feet together, I have accomplished one thing - my mind is pleased with that Weaver.
ਜੋਲਾਹੇ ਘਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਚੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਂ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾਂ ॥੩॥
Jolaahae Ghar Apanaa Cheenhaan Ghatt Hee Raam Pashhaanaan ||3||
जोलाहे घरु अपना चीन्हां घट ही रामु पछानां ॥३॥
I have come to understand my own home, and recognize the Lord within my heart. ||3||
ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਕਾਰਗਹ ਤੋਰੀ ॥
Kehath Kabeer Kaarageh Thoree ||
कहतु कबीरु कारगह तोरी ॥
Says Kabeer, when my body workshop breaks,
ਸੂਤੈ ਸੂਤ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਕੋਰੀ ॥੪॥੩॥੩੬॥

सूतै सूत मिलाए कोरी ॥४॥३॥३६॥
The Weaver shall blend my thread with His thread. ||4||3||36||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਜੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਨ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥
Anthar Mail Jae Theerathh Naavai This Baikunth N Jaanaan ||
अंतरि मैलु जे तीरथ नावै तिसु बैकुंठ न जानां ॥
With filth within the heart, even if one bathes at sacred places of pilgrimage, still, he shall not go to heaven.
ਲੋਕ ਪਤੀਣੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਾਮੁ ਅਯਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
Lok Patheenae Kashhoo N Hovai Naahee Raam Ayaanaa ||1||
लोक पतीणे कछू न होवै नाही रामु अयाना ॥१॥
Nothing is gained by trying to please others - the Lord cannot be fooled. ||1||
ਪੂਜਹੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੀ ਦੇਵਾ ॥
Poojahu Raam Eaek Hee Dhaevaa ||
पूजहु रामु एकु ही देवा ॥
Worship the One Divine Lord.
ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

साचा नावणु गुर की सेवा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The true cleansing bath is service to the Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਜਲ ਕੈ ਮਜਨਿ ਜੇ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਮੇਂਡੁਕ ਨਾਵਹਿ ॥
Jal Kai Majan Jae Gath Hovai Nith Nith Maenadduk Naavehi ||
जल कै मजनि जे गति होवै नित नित मेंडुक नावहि ॥
If salvation can be obtained by bathing in water, then what about the frog, which is always bathing in water?
ਜੈਸੇ ਮੇਂਡੁਕ ਤੈਸੇ ਓਇ ਨਰ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਆਵਹਿ ॥੨॥
Jaisae Maenadduk Thaisae Oue Nar Fir Fir Jonee Aavehi ||2||
जैसे मेंडुक तैसे ओइ नर फिरि फिरि जोनी आवहि ॥२॥
As is the frog, so is that mortal; he is reincarnated, over and over again. ||2||
ਮਨਹੁ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਮਰੈ ਬਾਨਾਰਸਿ ਨਰਕੁ ਨ ਬਾਂਚਿਆ ਜਾਈ ॥
Manahu Kathor Marai Baanaaras Narak N Baanchiaa Jaaee ||
मनहु कठोरु मरै बानारसि नरकु न बांचिआ जाई ॥
If the hard-hearted sinner dies in Benaares, he cannot escape hell.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਸੰਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹਾੜੰਬੈ ਤ ਸਗਲੀ ਸੈਨ ਤਰਾਈ ॥੩॥
Har Kaa Santh Marai Haarranbai Th Sagalee Sain Tharaaee ||3||
हरि का संतु मरै हाड़्मबै त सगली सैन तराई ॥३॥
And even if the Lord's Saint dies in the cursed land of Haramba, still, he saves all his family. ||3||
ਦਿਨਸੁ ਨ ਰੈਨਿ ਬੇਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਤਹਾ ਬਸੈ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਾ ॥
Dhinas N Rain Baedh Nehee Saasathr Thehaa Basai Nirankaaraa ||
दिनसु न रैनि बेदु नही सासत्र तहा बसै निरंकारा ॥
Where there is neither day nor night, and neither Vedas nor Shaastras, there, the Formless Lord abides.
