Vaddabhaagee Gur Paaeiaa Bhaaee Har Har Naam Dhhiaae ||3||
वडभागी गुरु पाइआ भाई हरि हरि नामु धिआइ ॥३॥
By great good fortune, I found the Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, and I meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||
ਸਚੁ ਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ਭਾਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sach Sadhaa Hai Niramalaa Bhaaee Niramal Saachae Soe ||
सचु सदा है निरमला भाई निरमल साचे सोइ ॥
The Truth is forever pure, O Siblings of Destiny; those who are true are pure.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Nadhar Karae Jis Aapanee Bhaaee This Paraapath Hoe ||
नदरि करे जिसु आपणी भाई तिसु परापति होइ ॥
When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, O Siblings of Destiny, then one obtains Him.
ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Kott Madhhae Jan Paaeeai Bhaaee Viralaa Koee Koe ||
कोटि मधे जनु पाईऐ भाई विरला कोई कोइ ॥
Among millions, O Siblings of Destiny, hardly one humble servant of the Lord is found.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤਾ ਸਚਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥
Naanak Rathaa Sach Naam Bhaaee Sun Man Than Niramal Hoe ||4||2||
नानक रता सचि नामि भाई सुणि मनु तनु निरमलु होइ ॥४॥२॥
Nanak is imbued with the True Name, O Siblings of Destiny; hearing it, the mind and body become immaculately pure. ||4||2||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl, Du-Tukas:
ਜਉ ਲਉ ਭਾਉ ਅਭਾਉ ਇਹੁ ਮਾਨੈ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਮਿਲਣੁ ਦੂਰਾਈ ॥
Jo Lo Bhaao Abhaao Eihu Maanai Tho Lo Milan Dhooraaee ||
जउ लउ भाउ अभाउ इहु मानै तउ लउ मिलणु दूराई ॥
As long as this person believes in love and hate, it is difficult for him to meet the Lord.
ਆਨ ਆਪਨਾ ਕਰਤ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ਤਉ ਲਉ ਬੀਚੁ ਬਿਖਾਈ ॥੧॥
Aan Aapanaa Karath Beechaaraa Tho Lo Beech Bikhaaee ||1||
आन आपना करत बीचारा तउ लउ बीचु बिखाई ॥१॥
As long as he discriminates between himself and others, he will distance himself from the Lord. ||1||
ਮਾਧਵੇ ਐਸੀ ਦੇਹੁ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
Maadhhavae Aisee Dhaehu Bujhaaee ||
माधवे ऐसी देहु बुझाई ॥
O Lord, grant me such understanding,
ਸੇਵਉ ਸਾਧ ਗਹਉ ਓਟ ਚਰਨਾ ਨਹ ਬਿਸਰੈ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਚਸਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Saevo Saadhh Geho Outt Charanaa Neh Bisarai Muhath Chasaaee || Rehaao ||
सेवउ साध गहउ ओट चरना नह बिसरै मुहतु चसाई ॥ रहाउ ॥
That I might serve the Holy Saints, and seek the protection of their feet, and not forget them, for a moment, even an instant. ||Pause||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੁਗਧ ਅਚੇਤ ਚੰਚਲ ਚਿਤ ਤੁਮ ਐਸੀ ਰਿਦੈ ਨ ਆਈ ॥
Rae Man Mugadhh Achaeth Chanchal Chith Thum Aisee Ridhai N Aaee ||
रे मन मुगध अचेत चंचल चित तुम ऐसी रिदै न आई ॥
O foolish, thoughtless and fickle mind, such understanding did not come into your heart.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਆਨ ਤੂ ਰਚਿਆ ਉਰਝਿਓ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥੨॥
Praanapath Thiaag Aan Thoo Rachiaa Ourajhiou Sang Bairaaee ||2||
प्रानपति तिआगि आन तू रचिआ उरझिओ संगि बैराई ॥२॥
Renouncing the Lord of Life, you have become engrossed in other things, and you are involved with your enemies. ||2||
ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਥਾਪੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Sog N Biaapai Aap N Thhaapai Saadhhasangath Budhh Paaee ||
सोगु न बिआपै आपु न थापै साधसंगति बुधि पाई ॥
Sorrow does not afflict one who does not harbor self-conceit; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I have attained this understanding.
ਸਾਕਤ ਕਾ ਬਕਨਾ ਇਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਜੈਸੇ ਪਵਨੁ ਝੁਲਾਈ ॥੩॥
Saakath Kaa Bakanaa Eio Jaano Jaisae Pavan Jhulaaee ||3||
साकत का बकना इउ जानउ जैसे पवनु झुलाई ॥३॥
Know that the babbling of the faithless cynic is like wind passing by. ||3||
ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧ ਅਛਾਦਿਓ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਕਹਣਾ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
Kott Paraadhh Ashhaadhiou Eihu Man Kehanaa Kashhoo N Jaaee ||
कोटि पराध अछादिओ इहु मनु कहणा कछू न जाई ॥
This mind is inundated by millions of sins - what can I say?
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਆਇਓ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਭੁ ਲੇਖਾ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਠਾਈ ॥੪॥੩॥

जन नानक दीन सरनि आइओ प्रभ सभु लेखा रखहु उठाई ॥४॥३॥

Puthr Kalathr Lok Grih Banithaa Maaeiaa Sanabandhhaehee ||
पुत्र कलत्र लोक ग्रिह बनिता माइआ सनबंधेही ॥
Children, spouses, men and women in one's household, are all bound by Maya.
ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਕੋ ਖਰਾ ਨ ਹੋਸੀ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਅਸਨੇਹੀ ॥੧॥
Anth Kee Baar Ko Kharaa N Hosee Sabh Mithhiaa Asanaehee ||1||
अंत की बार को खरा न होसी सभ मिथिआ असनेही ॥१॥
At the very last moment, none of them shall stand by you; their love is totally false. ||1||
ਰੇ ਨਰ ਕਾਹੇ ਪਪੋਰਹੁ ਦੇਹੀ ॥
Rae Nar Kaahae Paporahu Dhaehee ||
रे नर काहे पपोरहु देही ॥
O man, why do you pamper your body so?
ਊਡਿ ਜਾਇਗੋ ਧੂਮੁ ਬਾਦਰੋ ਇਕੁ ਭਾਜਹੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਨੇਹੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Oodd Jaaeigo Dhhoom Baadharo Eik Bhaajahu Raam Sanaehee || Rehaao ||
ऊडि जाइगो धूमु बादरो इकु भाजहु रामु सनेही ॥ रहाउ ॥
It shall disperse like a cloud of smoke; vibrate upon the One, the Beloved Lord. ||Pause||
ਤੀਨਿ ਸੰਙਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਕੀਨੀ ਜਲ ਕੂਕਰ ਭਸਮੇਹੀ ॥
Theen Sann(g)iaa Kar Dhaehee Keenee Jal Kookar Bhasamaehee ||
तीनि संङिआ करि देही कीनी जल कूकर भसमेही ॥
There are three ways in which the body can be consumed - it can be thrown into water, given to the dogs, or cremated to ashes.
ਹੋਇ ਆਮਰੋ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਬੈਠਾ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਬਿਸਰੋਹੀ ॥੨॥
Hoe Aamaro Grih Mehi Baithaa Karan Kaaran Bisarohee ||2||
होइ आमरो ग्रिह महि बैठा करण कारण बिसरोही ॥२॥
He considers himself to be immortal; he sits in his home, and forgets the Lord, the Cause of causes. ||2||
ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਣੀਏ ਸਾਜੇ ਕਾਚੈ ਤਾਗਿ ਪਰੋਹੀ ॥
Anik Bhaath Kar Maneeeae Saajae Kaachai Thaag Parohee ||
अनिक भाति करि मणीए साजे काचै तागि परोही ॥
In various ways, the Lord has fashioned the beads, and strung them on a slender thread.
ਤੂਟਿ ਜਾਇਗੋ ਸੂਤੁ ਬਾਪੁਰੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤੋਹੀ ॥੩॥
Thoott Jaaeigo Sooth Baapurae Fir Paashhai Pashhuthohee ||3||
तूटि जाइगो सूतु बापुरे फिरि पाछै पछुतोही ॥३॥
The thread shall break, O wretched man, and then, you shall repent and regret. ||3||
ਜਿਨਿ ਤੁਮ ਸਿਰਜੇ ਸਿਰਜਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨੇਹੀ ॥
Jin Thum Sirajae Siraj Savaarae This Dhhiaavahu Dhin Rainaehee ||
जिनि तुम सिरजे सिरजि सवारे तिसु धिआवहु दिनु रैनेही ॥
He created you, and after creating you, He adorned you - meditate on Him day and night.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਮੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਓਟ ਗਹੇਹੀ ॥੪॥੪॥
Jan Naanak Prabh Kirapaa Dhhaaree Mai Sathigur Outt Gehaehee ||4||4||
जन नानक प्रभ किरपा धारी मै सतिगुर ओट गहेही ॥४॥४॥
God has showered His Mercy upon servant Nanak; I hold tight to the Support of the True Guru. ||4||4||

Gur Pooraa Bhaettiou Vaddabhaagee Manehi Bhaeiaa Paragaasaa ||
गुरु पूरा भेटिओ वडभागी मनहि भइआ परगासा ॥
I met the True Guru, by great good fortune, and my mind has been enlightened.
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਪਹੁਚਨਹਾਰਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
Koe N Pahuchanehaaraa Dhoojaa Apunae Saahib Kaa Bharavaasaa ||1||
कोइ न पहुचनहारा दूजा अपुने साहिब का भरवासा ॥१॥
No one else can equal me, because I have the loving support of my Lord and Master. ||1||
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
Apunae Sathigur Kai Balihaarai ||
अपुने सतिगुर कै बलिहारै ॥
I am a sacrifice to my True Guru.
ਆਗੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਛੈ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਾ ਘਰਿ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Aagai Sukh Paashhai Sukh Sehajaa Ghar Aanandh Hamaarai || Rehaao ||
आगै सुखु पाछै सुख सहजा घरि आनंदु हमारै ॥ रहाउ ॥
I am at peace in this world, and I shall be in celestial peace in the next; my home is filled with bliss. ||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰਾ ਸੋਈ ਖਸਮੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥
Antharajaamee Karanaihaaraa Soee Khasam Hamaaraa ||
अंतरजामी करणैहारा सोई खसमु हमारा ॥
He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, the Creator, my Lord and Master.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੇ ਇਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਆਧਾਰਾ ॥੨॥
Nirabho Bheae Gur Charanee Laagae Eik Raam Naam Aadhhaaraa ||2||
निरभउ भए गुर चरणी लागे इक राम नाम आधारा ॥२॥
I have become fearless, attached to the Guru's feet; I take the Support of the Name of the One Lord. ||2||
ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਵਨਹਾਰਾ ॥
Safal Dharasan Akaal Moorath Prabh Hai Bhee Hovanehaaraa ||
सफल दरसनु अकाल मूरति प्रभु है भी होवनहारा ॥
Fruitful is the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; the Form of God is deathless; He is and shall always be.
ਕੰਠਿ ਲਗਾਇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਨ ਰਾਖੇ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥੩॥
Kanth Lagaae Apunae Jan Raakhae Apunee Preeth Piaaraa ||3||
कंठि लगाइ अपुने जन राखे अपुनी प्रीति पिआरा ॥३॥
He hugs His humble servants close, and protects and preserves them; their love for Him is sweet to Him. ||3||
ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਅਚਰਜ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਾਰਜੁ ਆਇਆ ਰਾਸੇ ॥
Vaddee Vaddiaaee Acharaj Sobhaa Kaaraj Aaeiaa Raasae ||
वडी वडिआई अचरज सोभा कारजु आइआ रासे ॥
Great is His glorious greatness, and wondrous is His magnificence; through Him, all affairs are resolved.
