सलोक मः १ ॥
Shalok, First Mehl:
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਘਰੁ ਦੇਖਾਇ ਦੇਇ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ॥
Ghar Mehi Ghar Dhaekhaae Dhaee So Sathigur Purakh Sujaan ||
घर महि घरु देखाइ देइ सो सतिगुरु पुरखु सुजाणु ॥
The True Guru is the All-knowing Primal Being; He shows us our true home within the home of the self.
ਪੰਚ ਸਬਦ ਧੁਨਿਕਾਰ ਧੁਨਿ ਤਹ ਬਾਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥
Panch Sabadh Dhhunikaar Dhhun Theh Baajai Sabadh Neesaan ||
पंच सबद धुनिकार धुनि तह बाजै सबदु नीसाणु ॥
The Panch Shabad, the Five Primal Sounds, resonate and resound within; the insignia of the Shabad is revealed there, vibrating gloriously.
ਦੀਪ ਲੋਅ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਤਹ ਖੰਡ ਮੰਡਲ ਹੈਰਾਨੁ ॥
Dheep Loa Paathaal Theh Khandd Manddal Hairaan ||
दीप लोअ पाताल तह खंड मंडल हैरानु ॥
Worlds and realms, nether regions, solar systems and galaxies are wondrously revealed.
ਤਾਰ ਘੋਰ ਬਾਜਿੰਤ੍ਰ ਤਹ ਸਾਚਿ ਤਖਤਿ ਸੁਲਤਾਨੁ ॥
Thaar Ghor Baajinthr Theh Saach Thakhath Sulathaan ||
तार घोर बाजिंत्र तह साचि तखति सुलतानु ॥
The strings and the harps vibrate and resound; the true throne of the Lord is there.
ਸੁਖਮਨ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਰਾਗੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁੰਨਿ ਮੰਡਲਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Sukhaman Kai Ghar Raag Sun Sunn Manddal Liv Laae ||
सुखमन कै घरि रागु सुनि सुंनि मंडलि लिव लाइ ॥
Listen to the music of the home of the heart - Sukhmani, peace of mind. Lovingly tune in to His state of celestial ecstasy.
ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਮਨਸਾ ਮਨਹਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Akathh Kathhaa Beechaareeai Manasaa Manehi Samaae ||
अकथ कथा बीचारीऐ मनसा मनहि समाइ ॥
Contemplate the Unspoken Speech, and the desires of the mind are dissolved.
ਉਲਟਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਭਰਿਆ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਕਤਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Oulatt Kamal Anmrith Bhariaa Eihu Man Kathahu N Jaae ||
उलटि कमलु अम्रिति भरिआ इहु मनु कतहु न जाइ ॥
The heart-lotus is turned upside-down, and is filled with Ambrosial Nectar. This mind does not go out; it does not get distracted.
ਅਜਪਾ ਜਾਪੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Ajapaa Jaap N Veesarai Aadh Jugaadh Samaae ||
अजपा जापु न वीसरै आदि जुगादि समाइ ॥
It does not forget the Chant which is chanted without chanting; it is immersed in the Primal Lord God of the ages.
ਸਭਿ ਸਖੀਆ ਪੰਚੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
Sabh Sakheeaa Panchae Milae Guramukh Nij Ghar Vaas ||
सभि सखीआ पंचे मिले गुरमुखि निज घरि वासु ॥
All the sister-companions are blessed with the five virtues. The Gurmukhs dwell in the home of the self deep within.
ਸਬਦੁ ਖੋਜਿ ਇਹੁ ਘਰੁ ਲਹੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
Sabadh Khoj Eihu Ghar Lehai Naanak Thaa Kaa Dhaas ||1||
सबदु खोजि इहु घरु लहै नानकु ता का दासु ॥१॥
Nanak is the slave of that one who seeks the Shabad and finds this home within. ||1||

ਚਿਲਿਮਿਲਿ ਬਿਸੀਆਰ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਫਾਨੀ ॥
Chilimil Biseeaar Dhuneeaa Faanee ||
चिलिमिलि बिसीआर दुनीआ फानी ॥
The extravagant glamor of the world is a passing show.
ਕਾਲੂਬਿ ਅਕਲ ਮਨ ਗੋਰ ਨ ਮਾਨੀ ॥
Kaaloob Akal Man Gor N Maanee ||
कालूबि अकल मन गोर न मानी ॥
My twisted mind does not believe that it will end up in a grave.
ਮਨ ਕਮੀਨ ਕਮਤਰੀਨ ਤੂ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਖੁਦਾਇਆ ॥
Man Kameen Kamathareen Thoo Dhareeaao Khudhaaeiaa ||
मन कमीन कमतरीन तू दरीआउ खुदाइआ ॥
I am meek and lowly; You are the great river.
ਏਕੁ ਚੀਜੁ ਮੁਝੈ ਦੇਹਿ ਅਵਰ ਜਹਰ ਚੀਜ ਨ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Eaek Cheej Mujhai Dhaehi Avar Jehar Cheej N Bhaaeiaa ||
एकु चीजु मुझै देहि अवर जहर चीज न भाइआ ॥
Please, bless me with the one thing; everything else is poison, and does not tempt me.
ਪੁਰਾਬ ਖਾਮ ਕੂਜੈ ਹਿਕਮਤਿ ਖੁਦਾਇਆ ॥
Puraab Khaam Koojai Hikamath Khudhaaeiaa ||
पुराब खाम कूजै हिकमति खुदाइआ ॥
You filled this fragile body with the water of life, O Lord, by Your Creative Power.
ਮਨ ਤੁਆਨਾ ਤੂ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਆਇਆ ॥
Man Thuaanaa Thoo Kudharathee Aaeiaa ||
मन तुआना तू कुदरती आइआ ॥
By Your Omnipotence, I have become powerful.
ਸਗ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀਬਾਨ ਮਸਤਾਨਾ ਨਿਤ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
Sag Naanak Dheebaan Masathaanaa Nith Charrai Savaaeiaa ||
सग नानक दीबान मसताना नित चड़ै सवाइआ ॥
Nanak is a dog in the Court of the Lord, intoxicated more and more, all the time.
ਆਤਸ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਖੁਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਖੁਦਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
Aathas Dhuneeaa Khunak Naam Khudhaaeiaa ||2||
आतस दुनीआ खुनक नामु खुदाइआ ॥२॥
The world is on fire; the Name of the Lord is cooling and soothing. ||2||

पउड़ी नवी मः ५ ॥
New Pauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਭੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਚਲਤੁ ਚਲਤੁ ਵਖਾਣਿਆ ॥
Sabho Varathai Chalath Chalath Vakhaaniaa ||
सभो वरतै चलतु चलतु वखाणिआ ॥
His wonderful play is all-pervading; it is wonderful and amazing!
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣਿਆ ॥
Paarabreham Paramaesar Guramukh Jaaniaa ||
पारब्रहमु परमेसरु गुरमुखि जाणिआ ॥
As Gurmukh, I know the the Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God.
ਲਥੇ ਸਭਿ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਨੀਸਾਣਿਆ ॥
Lathhae Sabh Vikaar Sabadh Neesaaniaa ||
लथे सभि विकार सबदि नीसाणिआ ॥
All my sins and corruption are washed away, through the insignia of the Shabad, the Word of God.
ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰੁ ਭਏ ਨਿਕਾਣਿਆ ॥
Saadhhoo Sang Oudhhaar Bheae Nikaaniaa ||
साधू संगि उधारु भए निकाणिआ ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, one is saved, and becomes free.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਸਭਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਿਆ ॥
Simar Simar Dhaathaar Sabh Rang Maaniaa ||
सिमरि सिमरि दातारु सभि रंग माणिआ ॥
Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Great Giver, I enjoy all comforts and pleasures.
ਪਰਗਟੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਮਿਹਰ ਛਾਵਾਣਿਆ ॥
Paragatt Bhaeiaa Sansaar Mihar Shhaavaaniaa ||
परगटु भइआ संसारि मिहर छावाणिआ ॥
I have become famous throughout the world, under the canopy of His kindness and grace.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਣਿਆ ॥
Aapae Bakhas Milaaeae Sadh Kurabaaniaa ||
आपे बखसि मिलाए सद कुरबाणिआ ॥
He Himself has forgiven me, and united me with Himself; I am forever a sacrifice to Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ਖਸਮੈ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥੨੭॥
Naanak Leae Milaae Khasamai Bhaaniaa ||27||
नानक लए मिलाइ खसमै भाणिआ ॥२७॥
O Nanak, by the Pleasure of His Will, my Lord and Master has blended me with Himself. ||27||

ਧੰਨੁ ਸੁ ਕਾਗਦੁ ਕਲਮ ਧੰਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਧਨੁ ਮਸੁ ॥
Dhhann S Kaagadh Kalam Dhhann Dhhan Bhaanddaa Dhhan Mas ||
धंनु सु कागदु कलम धंनु धनु भांडा धनु मसु ॥
Blessed is the paper, blessed is the pen, blessed is the inkwell, and blessed is the ink.
ਧਨੁ ਲੇਖਾਰੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਲਿਖਾਇਆ ਸਚੁ ॥੧॥
Dhhan Laekhaaree Naanakaa Jin Naam Likhaaeiaa Sach ||1||
धनु लेखारी नानका जिनि नामु लिखाइआ सचु ॥१॥
Blessed is the writer, O Nanak, who writes the True Name. ||1||

ਆਪੇ ਪਟੀ ਕਲਮ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਰਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਭਿ ਤੂੰ ॥
Aapae Pattee Kalam Aap Oupar Laekh Bh Thoon ||
आपे पटी कलम आपि उपरि लेखु भि तूं ॥
You Yourself are the writing tablet, and You Yourself are the pen. You are also what is written on it.
ਏਕੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਕਾਹੇ ਕੂ ॥੨॥
Eaeko Keheeai Naanakaa Dhoojaa Kaahae Koo ||2||
एको कहीऐ नानका दूजा काहे कू ॥२॥
Speak of the One Lord, O Nanak; how could there be any other? ||2||

Pauree:
ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪਿ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ॥
Thoon Aapae Aap Varathadhaa Aap Banath Banaaee ||
तूं आपे आपि वरतदा आपि बणत बणाई ॥
You Yourself are all-pervading; You Yourself made the making.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਤੂ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥
Thudhh Bin Dhoojaa Ko Nehee Thoo Rehiaa Samaaee ||
तुधु बिनु दूजा को नही तू रहिआ समाई ॥
Without You, there is no other at all; You are permeating and pervading everywhere.
ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Thaeree Gath Mith Thoohai Jaanadhaa Thudhh Keemath Paaee ||
तेरी गति मिति तूहै जाणदा तुधु कीमति पाई ॥
You alone know Your state and extent. Only You can estimate Your worth.
ਤੂ ਅਲਖ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਦਿਖਾਈ ॥
Thoo Alakh Agochar Agam Hai Guramath Dhikhaaee ||
तू अलख अगोचरु अगमु है गुरमति दिखाई ॥
You are invisible, imperceptible and inaccessible. You are revealed through the Guru's Teachings.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਗਵਾਈ ॥
Anthar Agiaan Dhukh Bharam Hai Gur Giaan Gavaaee ||
अंतरि अगिआनु दुखु भरमु है गुर गिआनि गवाई ॥
Deep within, there is ignorance, suffering and doubt; through the spiritual wisdom of the Guru, they are eradicated.
ਜਿਸੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਸੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥
Jis Kirapaa Karehi This Mael Laihi So Naam Dhhiaaee ||
जिसु क्रिपा करहि तिसु मेलि लैहि सो नामु धिआई ॥
He alone meditates on the Naam, whom You unite with Yourself, in Your Mercy.
ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਰਵਿਆ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ॥
Thoo Karathaa Purakh Aganm Hai Raviaa Sabh Thaaee ||
तू करता पुरखु अगमु है रविआ सभ ठाई ॥
You are the Creator, the Inaccessible Primal Lord God; You are all-pervading everywhere.
ਜਿਤੁ ਤੂ ਲਾਇਹਿ ਸਚਿਆ ਤਿਤੁ ਕੋ ਲਗੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈ ॥੨੮॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ
Jith Thoo Laaeihi Sachiaa Thith Ko Lagai Naanak Gun Gaaee ||28||1|| Sudhh ||
जितु तू लाइहि सचिआ तितु को लगै नानक गुण गाई ॥२८॥१॥ सुधु
