Gur Poorae Saabaas Hai Kaattai Man Peeraa ||2||
गुर पूरे साबासि है काटै मन पीरा ॥२॥
The Perfect Guru is honored and celebrated; He has taken away the pains of my mind. ||2||
ਲਾਲਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਧਣੀ ਕੋ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ਵਡਿਆਈਐ ॥
Laalaa Golaa Dhhanee Ko Kiaa Keho Vaddiaaeeai ||
लाला गोला धणी को किआ कहउ वडिआईऐ ॥
I am the servant and slave of my Master; what glorious greatness of His can I describe?
ਭਾਣੈ ਬਖਸੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਧਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈਐ ॥
Bhaanai Bakhasae Pooraa Dhhanee Sach Kaar Kamaaeeai ||
भाणै बखसे पूरा धणी सचु कार कमाईऐ ॥
The Perfect Master, by the Pleasure of His Will, forgives, and then one practices Truth.
ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਕਉ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੩॥
Vishhurriaa Ko Mael Leae Gur Ko Bal Jaaeeai ||3||
विछुड़िआ कउ मेलि लए गुर कउ बलि जाईऐ ॥३॥
I am a sacrifice to my Guru, who re-unites the separated ones. ||3||
ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਮਤਿ ਖਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਨੀਕੀ ॥
Laalae Golae Math Kharee Gur Kee Math Neekee ||
लाले गोले मति खरी गुर की मति नीकी ॥
The intellect of His servant and slave is noble and true; it is made so by the Guru's intellect.
ਸਾਚੀ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕੀ ॥
Saachee Surath Suhaavanee Manamukh Math Feekee ||
साची सुरति सुहावणी मनमुख मति फीकी ॥
The intuition of those who are true is beautiful; the intellect of the self-willed manmukh is insipid.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਚੁ ਧੀਰਕ ਧੁਰ ਕੀ ॥੪॥
Man Than Thaeraa Thoo Prabhoo Sach Dhheerak Dhhur Kee ||4||
मनु तनु तेरा तू प्रभू सचु धीरक धुर की ॥४॥
My mind and body belong to You, God; from the very beginning, Truth has been my only support. ||4||
ਸਾਚੈ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਉਠਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਭਾਖਿਆ ॥
Saachai Baisan Outhanaa Sach Bhojan Bhaakhiaa ||
साचै बैसणु उठणा सचु भोजनु भाखिआ ॥
In Truth I sit and stand; I eat and speak the Truth.
ਚਿਤਿ ਸਚੈ ਵਿਤੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਰਸੁ ਚਾਖਿਆ ॥
Chith Sachai Vitho Sachaa Saachaa Ras Chaakhiaa ||
चिति सचै वितो सचा साचा रसु चाखिआ ॥
With Truth in my consciousness, I gather the wealth of Truth, and drink in the sublime essence of Truth.
ਸਾਚੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਖੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਸੁਭਾਖਿਆ ॥੫॥
Saachai Ghar Saachai Rakhae Gur Bachan Subhaakhiaa ||5||
साचै घरि साचै रखे गुर बचनि सुभाखिआ ॥५॥
In the home of Truth, the True Lord protects me; I speak the Words of the Guru's Teachings with love. ||5||
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਕਉ ਆਲਸੁ ਘਣੋ ਫਾਥੇ ਓਜਾੜੀ ॥
Manamukh Ko Aalas Ghano Faathhae Oujaarree ||
मनमुख कउ आलसु घणो फाथे ओजाड़ी ॥
The self-willed manmukh is very lazy; he is trapped in the wilderness.
ਫਾਥਾ ਚੁਗੈ ਨਿਤ ਚੋਗੜੀ ਲਗਿ ਬੰਧੁ ਵਿਗਾੜੀ ॥
Faathhaa Chugai Nith Chogarree Lag Bandhh Vigaarree ||
फाथा चुगै नित चोगड़ी लगि बंधु विगाड़ी ॥
He is drawn to the bait, and continually pecking at it, he is trapped; his link to the Lord is ruined.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੁਕਤੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਿਜ ਤਾੜੀ ॥੬॥
Gur Parasaadhee Mukath Hoe Saachae Nij Thaarree ||6||
गुर परसादी मुकतु होइ साचे निज ताड़ी ॥६॥
By Guru's Grace, one is liberated, absorbed in the primal trance of Truth. ||6||
ਅਨਹਤਿ ਲਾਲਾ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
Anehath Laalaa Baedhhiaa Prabh Haeth Piaaree ||
अनहति लाला बेधिआ प्रभ हेति पिआरी ॥
His slave remains continually pierced through with love and affection for God.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਜੀਉ ਜਲਿ ਬਲਉ ਝੂਠੇ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ॥
Bin Saachae Jeeo Jal Balo Jhoothae Vaekaaree ||
बिनु साचे जीउ जलि बलउ झूठे वेकारी ॥
Without the True Lord, the soul of the false, corrupt person is burnt to ashes.
ਬਾਦਿ ਕਾਰਾ ਸਭਿ ਛੋਡੀਆ ਸਾਚੀ ਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੭॥
Baadh Kaaraa Sabh Shhoddeeaa Saachee Thar Thaaree ||7||
बादि कारा सभि छोडीआ साची तरु तारी ॥७॥
Abandoning all evil actions, he crosses over in the boat of Truth. ||7||
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਠਾਉ ॥
Jinee Naam Visaariaa Thinaa Thour N Thaao ||
जिनी नामु विसारिआ तिना ठउर न ठाउ ॥
Those who have forgotten the Naam have no home, no place of rest.
ਲਾਲੈ ਲਾਲਚੁ ਤਿਆਗਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
Laalai Laalach Thiaagiaa Paaeiaa Har Naao ||
लालै लालचु तिआगिआ पाइआ हरि नाउ ॥
The Lord's slave renounces greed and attachment, and obtains the Lord's Name.
ਤੂ ਬਖਸਹਿ ਤਾ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੮॥੪॥
Thoo Bakhasehi Thaa Mael Laihi Naanak Bal Jaao ||8||4||
तू बखसहि ता मेलि लैहि नानक बलि जाउ ॥८॥४॥
If You forgive him, Lord, then He is united with You; Nanak is a sacrifice. ||8||4||

ਲਾਲੈ ਗਾਰਬੁ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਈ ॥
Laalai Gaarab Shhoddiaa Gur Kai Bhai Sehaj Subhaaee ||
लालै गारबु छोडिआ गुर कै भै सहजि सुभाई ॥
The Lord's slave renounces his egotistical pride through the Guru's Fear intuitively and easily.
ਲਾਲੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Laalai Khasam Pashhaaniaa Vaddee Vaddiaaee ||
लालै खसमु पछाणिआ वडी वडिआई ॥
The slave realizes his Lord and Master; glorious is his greatness!
ਖਸਮਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
Khasam Miliai Sukh Paaeiaa Keemath Kehan N Jaaee ||1||
खसमि मिलिऐ सुखु पाइआ कीमति कहणु न जाई ॥१॥
Meeting with his Lord and Master, he finds peace; His value cannot be desribed. ||1||
ਲਾਲਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਖਸਮ ਕਾ ਖਸਮੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Laalaa Golaa Khasam Kaa Khasamai Vaddiaaee ||
लाला गोला खसम का खसमै वडिआई ॥
I am the slave and servant of my Lord and Master; all glory is to my Master.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਉਬਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुर परसादी उबरे हरि की सरणाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
By Guru's Grace, I am saved, in the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਲਾਲੇ ਨੋ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਾਰ ਹੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਖਸਮਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ॥
Laalae No Sir Kaar Hai Dhhur Khasam Furamaaee ||
लाले नो सिरि कार है धुरि खसमि फुरमाई ॥
The slave has been given the most excellent task, by the Primal Command of the Master.
ਲਾਲੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਰਜਾਈ ॥
Laalai Hukam Pashhaaniaa Sadhaa Rehai Rajaaee ||
लालै हुकमु पछाणिआ सदा रहै रजाई ॥
The slave realizes the Hukam of His Command, and submits to His Will forever.
ਆਪੇ ਮੀਰਾ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
Aapae Meeraa Bakhas Leae Vaddee Vaddiaaee ||2||
आपे मीरा बखसि लए वडी वडिआई ॥२॥
The Lord King Himself grants forgiveness; how glorious is His greatness! ||2||
ਆਪਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਭੁ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
Aap Sachaa Sabh Sach Hai Gur Sabadh Bujhaaee ||
आपि सचा सभु सचु है गुर सबदि बुझाई ॥
He Himself is True, and everything is True; this is revealed through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲੈਹਿ ਤੂ ਲਾਈ ॥
Thaeree Saevaa So Karae Jis No Laihi Thoo Laaee ||
तेरी सेवा सो करे जिस नो लैहि तू लाई ॥
He alone serves You, whom You have enjoined to do so.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਰਮਿ ਖੁਆਈ ॥੩॥
Bin Saevaa Kinai N Paaeiaa Dhoojai Bharam Khuaaee ||3||
बिनु सेवा किनै न पाइआ दूजै भरमि खुआई ॥३॥
Without serving Him, no one finds Him; in duality and doubt, they are ruined. ||3||
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਦੇਵੈ ਚੜੈ ਸਵਾਇਆ ॥
So Kio Manahu Visaareeai Nith Dhaevai Charrai Savaaeiaa ||
सो किउ मनहु विसारीऐ नित देवै चड़ै सवाइआ ॥
How could we forget Him from our minds? The gifts which he bestows increase day by day.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਤਿਨੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Jeeo Pindd Sabh This Dhaa Saahu Thinai Vich Paaeiaa ||
जीउ पिंडु सभु तिस दा साहु तिनै विचि पाइआ ॥
Soul and body, all belong to Him; He infused the breath into us.
ਜਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
Jaa Kirapaa Karae Thaa Saeveeai Saev Sach Samaaeiaa ||4||
जा क्रिपा करे ता सेवीऐ सेवि सचि समाइआ ॥४॥
If he shows His Mercy, then we serve Him; serving Him, we merge in Truth. ||4||
ਲਾਲਾ ਸੋ ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ॥
Laalaa So Jeevath Marai Mar Vichahu Aap Gavaaeae ||
लाला सो जीवतु मरै मरि विचहु आपु गवाए ॥
He alone is the Lord's slave, who remains dead while yet alive, and eradicates egotism from within.
ਬੰਧਨ ਤੂਟਹਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਗਨਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
Bandhhan Thoottehi Mukath Hoe Thrisanaa Agan Bujhaaeae ||
बंधन तूटहि मुकति होइ त्रिसना अगनि बुझाए ॥
His bonds are broken, the fire of his desire is quenched, and he is liberated.
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥੫॥
Sabh Mehi Naam Nidhhaan Hai Guramukh Ko Paaeae ||5||
सभ महि नामु निधानु है गुरमुखि को पाए ॥५॥
The treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is within all, but how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, obtain it. ||5||
ਲਾਲੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਣੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਲਾ ਅਵਗਣਿਆਰੁ ॥
Laalae Vich Gun Kishh Nehee Laalaa Avaganiaar ||
लाले विचि गुणु किछु नही लाला अवगणिआरु ॥
Within the Lord's slave, there is no virtue at all; the Lord's slave is totally unworthy.
ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਤੂ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Thudhh Jaevadd Dhaathaa Ko Nehee Thoo Bakhasanehaar ||
तुधु जेवडु दाता को नही तू बखसणहारु ॥
There is no Giver as great as You, Lord; You alone are the Forgiver.
ਤੇਰਾ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਲਾਲਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਏਹ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
Thaeraa Hukam Laalaa Mannae Eaeh Karanee Saar ||6||
तेरा हुकमु लाला मंने एह करणी सारु ॥६॥
Your slave obeys the Hukam of Your Command; this is the most excellent action. ||6||
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਜੋ ਇਛੇ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Gur Saagar Anmrith Sar Jo Eishhae So Fal Paaeae ||
गुरु सागरु अम्रित सरु जो इछे सो फलु पाए ॥
The Guru is the pool of nectar in the world-ocean; whatever one desires, that fruit is obtained.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
Naam Padhaarathh Amar Hai Hiradhai Mann Vasaaeae ||
नामु पदारथु अमरु है हिरदै मंनि वसाए ॥
The treasure of the Naam brings immortality; enshrine it in your heart and mind.
