ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਹੈ ਜਾਤਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
Guramukh Giaan Eaeko Hai Jaathaa Anadhin Naam Raveejai Hae ||13||
गुरमुखि गिआनु एको है जाता अनदिनु नामु रवीजै हे ॥१३॥
The Gurmukh knows the spiritual wisdom of the One Lord. Night and day, he chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||13||
ਬੇਦ ਪੜਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਬੂਝਹਿ ॥
Baedh Parrehi Har Naam N Boojhehi ||
बेद पड़हि हरि नामु न बूझहि ॥
He may read the Vedas, but he does not realize the Lord's Name.
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਲੂਝਹਿ ॥
Maaeiaa Kaaran Parr Parr Loojhehi ||
माइआ कारणि पड़ि पड़ि लूझहि ॥
For the sake of Maya, he reads and recites and argues.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧਾ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਤਰੀਜੈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
Anthar Mail Agiaanee Andhhaa Kio Kar Dhuthar Thareejai Hae ||14||
अंतरि मैलु अगिआनी अंधा किउ करि दुतरु तरीजै हे ॥१४॥
The ignorant and blind person is filled with filth within. How can he cross over the impassable world-ocean? ||14||
ਬੇਦ ਬਾਦ ਸਭਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣਹਿ ॥
Baedh Baadh Sabh Aakh Vakhaanehi ||
बेद बाद सभि आखि वखाणहि ॥
He voices all the controversies of the Vedas,
ਨ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਨ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥
N Anthar Bheejai N Sabadh Pashhaanehi ||
न अंतरु भीजै न सबदु पछाणहि ॥
But his inner being is not saturated or satisfied, and he does not realize the Word of the Shabad.
ਪੁੰਨੁ ਪਾਪੁ ਸਭੁ ਬੇਦਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਜੈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
Punn Paap Sabh Baedh Dhrirraaeiaa Guramukh Anmrith Peejai Hae ||15||
पुंनु पापु सभु बेदि द्रिड़ाइआ गुरमुखि अम्रितु पीजै हे ॥१५॥
The Vedas tell all about virtue and vice, but only the Gurmukh drinks in the Ambrosial Nectar. ||15||
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੋ ਸੋਈ ॥
Aapae Saachaa Eaeko Soee ||
आपे साचा एको सोई ॥
The One True Lord is all by Himself.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥
This Bin Dhoojaa Avar N Koee ||
तिसु बिनु दूजा अवरु न कोई ॥
There is no one else except Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਰਵੀਜੈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੬॥
Naanak Naam Rathae Man Saachaa Sacho Sach Raveejai Hae ||16||6||
नानक नामि रते मनु साचा सचो सचु रवीजै हे ॥१६॥६॥
O Nanak, true is the mind of one who is attuned to the Naam; he speaks Truth, and nothing but Truth. ||16||6||

Maaroo, Third Mehl:
ਸਚੈ ਸਚਾ ਤਖਤੁ ਰਚਾਇਆ ॥
Sachai Sachaa Thakhath Rachaaeiaa ||
सचै सचा तखतु रचाइआ ॥
The True Lord has established the Throne of Truth.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਤਿਥੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Nij Ghar Vasiaa Thithhai Mohu N Maaeiaa ||
निज घरि वसिआ तिथै मोहु न माइआ ॥
He dwells in His own home deep within the self, where there is no emotional attachment to Maya.
ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Sadh Hee Saach Vasiaa Ghatt Anthar Guramukh Karanee Saaree Hae ||1||
सद ही साचु वसिआ घट अंतरि गुरमुखि करणी सारी हे ॥१॥
The True Lord dwells deep within the nucleus of the Gurmukh's heart forever; his actions are excellent. ||1||
ਸਚਾ ਸਉਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਾਪਾਰਾ ॥
Sachaa Soudhaa Sach Vaapaaraa ||
सचा सउदा सचु वापारा ॥
True is his merchandise, and true is his trade.
ਨ ਤਿਥੈ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
N Thithhai Bharam N Dhoojaa Pasaaraa ||
न तिथै भरमु न दूजा पसारा ॥
There is no doubt within him, and no expanse of duality.
ਸਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਖਟਿਆ ਕਦੇ ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Sachaa Dhhan Khattiaa Kadhae Thott N Aavai Boojhai Ko Veechaaree Hae ||2||
सचा धनु खटिआ कदे तोटि न आवै बूझै को वीचारी हे ॥२॥
He has earned the true wealth, which is never exhausted. How few are those who contemplate this, and understand. ||2||
ਸਚੈ ਲਾਏ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
Sachai Laaeae Sae Jan Laagae ||
सचै लाए से जन लागे ॥
They alone are attached to the True Name, whom the Lord Himself attaches.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ॥
Anthar Sabadh Masathak Vaddabhaagae ||
अंतरि सबदु मसतकि वडभागे ॥
The Word of the Shabad is deep within the nucleus of the self; good fortune is recorded upon their foreheads.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Sachai Sabadh Sadhaa Gun Gaavehi Sabadh Rathae Veechaaree Hae ||3||
सचै सबदि सदा गुण गावहि सबदि रते वीचारी हे ॥३॥
Through the True Word of the Shabad, they sing the True Praises of the Lord; they are attuned to contemplative meditation on the Shabad. ||3||
ਸਚੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
Sacho Sachaa Sach Saalaahee ||
सचो सचा सचु सालाही ॥
I praise the True Lord, the Truest of the True.
ਏਕੋ ਵੇਖਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Eaeko Vaekhaa Dhoojaa Naahee ||
एको वेखा दूजा नाही ॥
I see the One Lord, and no other.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਊਚੋ ਊਚੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
Guramath Oocho Oochee Pourree Giaan Rathan Houmai Maaree Hae ||4||
गुरमति ऊचो ऊची पउड़ी गिआनि रतनि हउमै मारी हे ॥४॥
The Guru's Teachings are the ladder to reach the highest of the high. the jewel of spiritual wisdom conquers egotism. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇਆ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Sabadh Jalaaeiaa ||
माइआ मोहु सबदि जलाइआ ॥
Emotional attachment to Maya is burnt away by the Word of the Shabad.
ਸਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Sach Man Vasiaa Jaa Thudhh Bhaaeiaa ||
सचु मनि वसिआ जा तुधु भाइआ ॥
The True One comes to dwell in the mind, when it pleases You, O Lord.
ਸਚੇ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਸਚੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
Sachae Kee Sabh Sachee Karanee Houmai Thikhaa Nivaaree Hae ||5||
सचे की सभ सची करणी हउमै तिखा निवारी हे ॥५॥
True are all the actions of the truthful; the thirst of egotism is subdued. ||5||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Sabh Aapae Keenaa ||
माइआ मोहु सभु आपे कीना ॥
All by Himself, God created emotional attachment to Maya.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਚੀਨਾ ॥
Guramukh Viralai Kin Hee Cheenaa ||
गुरमुखि विरलै किन ही चीना ॥
How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, realize the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸਾਚੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Guramukh Hovai S Sach Kamaavai Saachee Karanee Saaree Hae ||6||
गुरमुखि होवै सु सचु कमावै साची करणी सारी हे ॥६॥
One who becomes Gurmukh practices Truth; true and excellent are his actions. ||6||
ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ॥
Kaar Kamaaee Jo Maerae Prabh Bhaaee ||
कार कमाई जो मेरे प्रभ भाई ॥
He does those deeds which are pleasing to my God;
ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
Houmai Thrisanaa Sabadh Bujhaaee ||
हउमै त्रिसना सबदि बुझाई ॥
Through the Shabad, he burns away egotism and the thirst of desire.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Guramath Sadh Hee Anthar Seethal Houmai Maar Nivaaree Hae ||7||
गुरमति सद ही अंतरु सीतलु हउमै मारि निवारी हे ॥७॥
Following the Guru's Teachings, he remains forever cool and calm deep within; he conquers and subdues his ego. ||7||
ਸਚਿ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
Sach Lagae Thin Sabh Kishh Bhaavai ||
सचि लगे तिन सभु किछु भावै ॥
Those who are attached to the Truth are pleased with everything.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਸਚਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
Sachai Sabadhae Sach Suhaavai ||
सचै सबदे सचि सुहावै ॥
They are embellished with the True Word of the Shabad.
ਐਥੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਸੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਸਵਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Aithhai Saachae Sae Dhar Saachae Nadharee Nadhar Savaaree Hae ||8||
ऐथै साचे से दरि साचे नदरी नदरि सवारी हे ॥८॥
Those who are true in this world, are true in the Court of the Lord. The Merciful Lord adorns them with His Mercy. ||8||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਚੇ ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Bin Saachae Jo Dhoojai Laaeiaa ||
बिनु साचे जो दूजै लाइआ ॥
Those who are attached to duality, and not the Truth,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
Maaeiaa Moh Dhukh Sabaaeiaa ||
माइआ मोह दुख सबाइआ ॥
Are trapped in emotional attachment to Maya; they totally suffer in pain.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Bin Gur Dhukh Sukh Jaapai Naahee Maaeiaa Moh Dhukh Bhaaree Hae ||9||
बिनु गुर दुखु सुखु जापै नाही माइआ मोह दुखु भारी हे ॥९॥
Without the Guru, they do not understand pain and pleasure; attached to Maya, they suffer in terrible pain. ||9||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Saachaa Sabadh Jinaa Man Bhaaeiaa ||
साचा सबदु जिना मनि भाइआ ॥
Those whose minds are pleased with the True Word of the Shabad
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਤਿਨੀ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥
Poorab Likhiaa Thinee Kamaaeiaa ||
पूरबि लिखिआ तिनी कमाइआ ॥
Act according to pre-ordained destiny.
ਸਚੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Sacho Saevehi Sach Dhhiaavehi Sach Rathae Veechaaree Hae ||10||
सचो सेवहि सचु धिआवहि सचि रते वीचारी हे ॥१०॥
They serve the True Lord, and meditate on the True Lord; they are imbued with contemplative meditation on the True Lord. ||10||
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਮੀਠੀ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
Gur Kee Saevaa Meethee Laagee ||
गुर की सेवा मीठी लागी ॥
Service to the Guru seems sweet to them.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਧੀ ॥
Anadhin Sookh Sehaj Samaadhhee ||
अनदिनु सूख सहज समाधी ॥
Night and day, they are intuitively immersed in celestial peace.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
Har Har Karathiaa Man Niramal Hoaa Gur Kee Saev Piaaree Hae ||11||
हरि हरि करतिआ मनु निरमलु होआ गुर की सेव पिआरी हे ॥११॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, their minds become immaculate; they love to serve the Guru. ||11||
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੁਖੀਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
Sae Jan Sukheeeae Sathigur Sachae Laaeae ||
से जन सुखीए सतिगुरि सचे लाए ॥
Those humble beings are at peace, whom the True Guru attaches to the Truth.
ਆਪੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
Aapae Bhaanae Aap Milaaeae ||
आपे भाणे आपि मिलाए ॥
He Himself, in His Will, merges them into Himself.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਉਬਰੇ ਹੋਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਖੁਆਰੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
Sathigur Raakhae Sae Jan Oubarae Hor Maaeiaa Moh Khuaaree Hae ||12||
सतिगुरि राखे से जन उबरे होर माइआ मोह खुआरी हे ॥१२॥
Those humble beings, whom the True Guru protects, are saved. The rest are ruined through emotional attachment to Maya. ||12||
