ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
Aapae Bakhasae Sach Dhrirraaeae Man Than Saachai Raathaa Hae ||11||
आपे बखसे सचु द्रिड़ाए मनु तनु साचै राता हे ॥११॥
He Himself forgives, and implants the Truth. The mind and body are then attuned to the True Lord. ||11||
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਮੈਲਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Man Than Mailaa Vich Joth Apaaraa ||
मनु तनु मैला विचि जोति अपारा ॥
Within the polluted mind and body is the Light of the Infinite Lord.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕਰਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Guramath Boojhai Kar Veechaaraa ||
गुरमति बूझै करि वीचारा ॥
One who understands the Guru's Teachings, contemplates this.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
Houmai Maar Sadhaa Man Niramal Rasanaa Saev Sukhadhaathaa Hae ||12||
हउमै मारि सदा मनु निरमलु रसना सेवि सुखदाता हे ॥१२॥
Conquering egotism, the mind becomes immaculate forever; with his tongue, he serves the Lord, the Giver of peace. ||12||
ਗੜ ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਬਹੁ ਹਟ ਬਾਜਾਰਾ ॥
Garr Kaaeiaa Andhar Bahu Hatt Baajaaraa ||
गड़ काइआ अंदरि बहु हट बाजारा ॥
In the fortress of the body there are many shops and bazaars;
ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
This Vich Naam Hai Ath Apaaraa ||
तिसु विचि नामु है अति अपारा ॥
Within them is the Naam, the Name of the utterly infinite Lord.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਦਾ ਦਰਿ ਸੋਹੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Sadhaa Dhar Sohai Houmai Maar Pashhaathaa Hae ||13||
गुर कै सबदि सदा दरि सोहै हउमै मारि पछाता हे ॥१३॥
In His Court, one is embellished forever with the Word of the Guru's Shabad; he conquers egotism and realizes the Lord. ||13||
ਰਤਨੁ ਅਮੋਲਕੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Rathan Amolak Agam Apaaraa ||
रतनु अमोलकु अगम अपारा ॥
The jewel is priceless, inaccessible and infinite.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਵਣੁ ਕਰੇ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ॥
Keemath Kavan Karae Vaechaaraa ||
कीमति कवणु करे वेचारा ॥
How can the poor wretch estimate its worth?
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਤੋਲਿ ਤੋਲਾਏ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
Gur Kai Sabadhae Thol Tholaaeae Anthar Sabadh Pashhaathaa Hae ||14||
गुर कै सबदे तोलि तोलाए अंतरि सबदि पछाता हे ॥१४॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, it is weighed, and so the Shabad is realized deep within. ||14||
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰਾ ॥

सिम्रिति सासत्र बहुतु बिसथारा ॥
The great volumes of the Simritees and the Shaastras
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Pasariaa Paasaaraa ||
माइआ मोहु पसरिआ पासारा ॥
Only extend the extension of attachment to Maya.
ਮੂਰਖ ਪੜਹਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
Moorakh Parrehi Sabadh N Boojhehi Guramukh Viralai Jaathaa Hae ||15||
मूरख पड़हि सबदु न बूझहि गुरमुखि विरलै जाता हे ॥१५॥
The fools read them, but do not understand the Word of the Shabad. How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand. ||15||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
Aapae Karathaa Karae Karaaeae ||
आपे करता करे कराए ॥
The Creator Himself acts, and causes all to act.
ਸਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਚੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
Sachee Baanee Sach Dhrirraaeae ||
सची बाणी सचु द्रिड़ाए ॥
Through the True Word of His Bani, Truth is implanted deep within.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੯॥
Naanak Naam Milai Vaddiaaee Jug Jug Eaeko Jaathaa Hae ||16||9||
नानक नामु मिलै वडिआई जुगि जुगि एको जाता हे ॥१६॥९॥
O Nanak, through the Naam, one is blessed with glorious greatness, and throughout the ages, the One Lord is known. ||16||9||

Maaroo, Third Mehl:
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
So Sach Saevihu Sirajanehaaraa ||
सो सचु सेविहु सिरजणहारा ॥
Serve the True Creator Lord.
ਸਬਦੇ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Sabadhae Dhookh Nivaaranehaaraa ||
सबदे दूख निवारणहारा ॥
The Word of the Shabad is the Destroyer of pain.
ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ਆਪੇ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Agam Agochar Keemath Nehee Paaee Aapae Agam Athhaahaa Hae ||1||
अगमु अगोचरु कीमति नही पाई आपे अगम अथाहा हे ॥१॥
He is inaccessible and unfathomable; He cannot be evaluated. He Himself is inaccessible and immeasurable. ||1||
ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਰਤਾਏ ॥
Aapae Sachaa Sach Varathaaeae ||
आपे सचा सचु वरताए ॥
The True Lord Himself makes Truth pervasive.
ਇਕਿ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
Eik Jan Saachai Aapae Laaeae ||
इकि जन साचै आपे लाए ॥
He attaches some humble beings to the Truth.
ਸਾਚੋ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Saacho Saevehi Saach Kamaavehi Naamae Sach Samaahaa Hae ||2||
साचो सेवहि साचु कमावहि नामे सचि समाहा हे ॥२॥
They serve the True Lord and practice Truth; through the Name, they are absorbed in the True Lord. ||2||
ਧੁਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
Dhhur Bhagathaa Maelae Aap Milaaeae ||
धुरि भगता मेले आपि मिलाए ॥
The Primal Lord unites His devotees in His Union.
ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਏ ॥
Sachee Bhagathee Aapae Laaeae ||
सची भगती आपे लाए ॥
He attaches them to true devotional worship.
ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਇਸੁ ਜਨਮੈ ਕਾ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Saachee Baanee Sadhaa Gun Gaavai Eis Janamai Kaa Laahaa Hae ||3||
साची बाणी सदा गुण गावै इसु जनमै का लाहा हे ॥३॥
One who sings forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord, through the True Word of His Bani, earns the profit of this life. ||3||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰੁ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ॥
Guramukh Vanaj Karehi Par Aap Pashhaanehi ||
गुरमुखि वणजु करहि परु आपु पछाणहि ॥
The Gurmukh trades, and understands his own self.
ਏਕਸ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਹਿ ॥
Eaekas Bin Ko Avar N Jaanehi ||
एकस बिनु को अवरु न जाणहि ॥
He knows no other than the One Lord.
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਚੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ ਪੂੰਜੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
Sachaa Saahu Sachae Vanajaarae Poonjee Naam Visaahaa Hae ||4||
सचा साहु सचे वणजारे पूंजी नामु विसाहा हे ॥४॥
True is the banker, and True are His traders, who buy the merchandise of the Naam. ||4||
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
Aapae Saajae Srisatt Oupaaeae ||
आपे साजे स्रिसटि उपाए ॥
He Himself fashions and creates the Universe.
ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
Viralae Ko Gur Sabadh Bujhaaeae ||
विरले कउ गुर सबदु बुझाए ॥
He inspires a few to realize the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਾਚੇ ਕਾਟੇ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
Sathigur Saevehi Sae Jan Saachae Kaattae Jam Kaa Faahaa Hae ||5||
सतिगुरु सेवहि से जन साचे काटे जम का फाहा हे ॥५॥
Those humble beings who serve the True Guru are true. He snaps the noose of death from around their necks. ||5||
ਭੰਨੈ ਘੜੇ ਸਵਾਰੇ ਸਾਜੇ ॥
Bhannai Gharrae Savaarae Saajae ||
भंनै घड़े सवारे साजे ॥
He destroys, creates, embellishes and fashions all beings,
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਜੰਤ ਪਾਜੇ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohi Dhoojai Janth Paajae ||
माइआ मोहि दूजै जंत पाजे ॥
And attaches them to duality, attachment and Maya.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਅੰਧੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਜੇਵੜਾ ਗਲਿ ਫਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Manamukh Firehi Sadhaa Andhh Kamaavehi Jam Kaa Jaevarraa Gal Faahaa Hae ||6||
मनमुख फिरहि सदा अंधु कमावहि जम का जेवड़ा गलि फाहा हे ॥६॥
The self-willed manmukhs wander around forever, acting blindly. Death has strung his noose around their necks. ||6||
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
Aapae Bakhasae Gur Saevaa Laaeae ||
आपे बखसे गुर सेवा लाए ॥
He Himself forgives, and enjoins us to serve the Guru.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
Guramathee Naam Mann Vasaaeae ||
गुरमती नामु मंनि वसाए ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, the Naam comes to dwell within the mind.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਸਾਚਾ ਇਸੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਲਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Anadhin Naam Dhhiaaeae Saachaa Eis Jag Mehi Naamo Laahaa Hae ||7||
अनदिनु नामु धिआए साचा इसु जग महि नामो लाहा हे ॥७॥
Night and day, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the True Lord, and earn the profit of the Naam in this world. ||7||
ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ॥
Aapae Sachaa Sachee Naaee ||
आपे सचा सची नाई ॥
He Himself is True, and True is His Name.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
Guramukh Dhaevai Mann Vasaaee ||
गुरमुखि देवै मंनि वसाई ॥
The Gurmukh bestows it, and enshrines it within the mind.
ਜਿਨ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਚੂਕਾ ਕਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Jin Man Vasiaa Sae Jan Sohehi Thin Sir Chookaa Kaahaa Hae ||8||
जिन मनि वसिआ से जन सोहहि तिन सिरि चूका काहा हे ॥८॥
Noble and exalted are those, within whose mind the Lord abides. Their heads are free of strife. ||8||
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
Agam Agochar Keemath Nehee Paaee ||
अगम अगोचरु कीमति नही पाई ॥
He is inaccessible and unfathomable; His value cannot be appraised.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਈ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Mann Vasaaee ||
गुर परसादी मंनि वसाई ॥
By Guru's Grace, He dwells within the mind.
ਸਦਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਲੇਖਾ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੰਗੈ ਤਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Sadhaa Sabadh Saalaahee Gunadhaathaa Laekhaa Koe N Mangai Thaahaa Hae ||9||
सदा सबदि सालाही गुणदाता लेखा कोइ न मंगै ताहा हे ॥९॥
No one calls that person to account, who praises the Word of the Shabad, the Giver of virtue. ||9||
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਰੁਦ੍ਰੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥
Brehamaa Bisan Rudhra This Kee Saevaa ||
ब्रहमा बिसनु रुद्रु तिस की सेवा ॥
Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva serve Him.
ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਵਾ ॥
Anth N Paavehi Alakh Abhaevaa ||
अंतु न पावहि अलख अभेवा ॥
Even they cannot find the limits of the unseen, unknowable Lord.
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਤੂ ਅਪਣੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਹਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Jin Ko Nadhar Karehi Thoo Apanee Guramukh Alakh Lakhaahaa Hae ||10||
जिन कउ नदरि करहि तू अपणी गुरमुखि अलखु लखाहा हे ॥१०॥
Those who are blessed by Your Glance of Grace, become Gurmukh, and comprehend the incomprehensible. ||10||
