ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨੀ ਥਾਈ ॥
Jeh Dhaekhaa Thoo Sabhanee Thhaaee ||
जह देखा तू सभनी थाई ॥
Wherever I look, I see You, everywhere.
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
Poorai Gur Sabh Sojhee Paaee ||
पूरै गुरि सभ सोझी पाई ॥
Through the Perfect Guru, all this is known.
ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
Naamo Naam Dhhiaaeeai Sadhaa Sadh Eihu Man Naamae Raathaa Hae ||12||
नामो नामु धिआईऐ सदा सद इहु मनु नामे राता हे ॥१२॥
I meditate forever and ever on the Naam; this mind is imbued with the Naam. ||12||
ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤਾ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
Naamae Raathaa Pavith Sareeraa ||
नामे राता पवितु सरीरा ॥
Imbued with the Naam, the body is sanctified.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਡੂਬਿ ਮੁਏ ਬਿਨੁ ਨੀਰਾ ॥
Bin Naavai Ddoob Mueae Bin Neeraa ||
बिनु नावै डूबि मुए बिनु नीरा ॥
Without the Naam, they are drowned and die without water.
ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝਹਿ ਇਕਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
Aavehi Jaavehi Naam Nehee Boojhehi Eikanaa Guramukh Sabadh Pashhaathaa Hae ||13||
आवहि जावहि नामु नही बूझहि इकना गुरमुखि सबदु पछाता हे ॥१३॥
They come and go, but do not understand the Naam. Some, as Gurmukh, realize the Word of the Shabad. ||13||
ਪੂਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
Poorai Sathigur Boojh Bujhaaee ||
पूरै सतिगुरि बूझ बुझाई ॥
The Perfect True Guru has imparted this understanding.
ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
Vin Naavai Mukath Kinai N Paaee ||
विणु नावै मुकति किनै न पाई ॥
Without the Name, no one attains liberation.
ਨਾਮੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਹਜਿ ਰਹੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
Naamae Naam Milai Vaddiaaee Sehaj Rehai Rang Raathaa Hae ||14||
नामे नामि मिलै वडिआई सहजि रहै रंगि राता हे ॥१४॥
Through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one is blessed with glorious greatness; he remains intuitively attuned to the Lord's Love. ||14||
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰੁ ਢਹੈ ਢਹਿ ਢੇਰੀ ॥
Kaaeiaa Nagar Dtehai Dtehi Dtaeree ||
काइआ नगरु ढहै ढहि ढेरी ॥
The body-village crumbles and collapses into a pile of dust.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਚੂਕੈ ਨਹੀ ਫੇਰੀ ॥
Bin Sabadhai Chookai Nehee Faeree ||
बिनु सबदै चूकै नही फेरी ॥
Without the Shabad, the cycle of reincarnation is not brought to an end.
ਸਾਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
Saach Salaahae Saach Samaavai Jin Guramukh Eaeko Jaathaa Hae ||15||
साचु सलाहे साचि समावै जिनि गुरमुखि एको जाता हे ॥१५॥
One who knows the One Lord, through the True Guru, praises the True Lord, and remains immersed in the True Lord. ||15||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ॥
Jis No Nadhar Karae So Paaeae ||
जिस नो नदरि करे सो पाए ॥
The True Word of the Shabad comes to dwell in the mind,
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
Saachaa Sabadh Vasai Man Aaeae ||
साचा सबदु वसै मनि आए ॥
When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੀ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੮॥
Naanak Naam Rathae Nirankaaree Dhar Saachai Saach Pashhaathaa Hae ||16||8||
नानक नामि रते निरंकारी दरि साचै साचु पछाता हे ॥१६॥८॥
O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Formless Lord, realize the True Lord in His True Court. ||16||8||

आपे करता सभु जिसु करणा ॥
O Creator, it is You Yourself who does all.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
Jeea Janth Sabh Thaeree Saranaa ||
जीअ जंत सभि तेरी सरणा ॥
All beings and creatures are under Your Protection.
ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Aapae Gupath Varathai Sabh Anthar Gur Kai Sabadh Pashhaathaa Hae ||1||
आपे गुपतु वरतै सभ अंतरि गुर कै सबदि पछाता हे ॥१॥
You are hidden, and yet permeating within all; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, You are realized. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
Har Kae Bhagath Bharae Bhanddaaraa ||
हरि के भगति भरे भंडारा ॥
Devotion to the Lord is a treasure overflowing.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Aapae Bakhasae Sabadh Veechaaraa ||
आपे बखसे सबदि वीचारा ॥
He Himself blesses us with contemplative meditation on the Shabad.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਸਹਿ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Jo Thudhh Bhaavai Soee Karasehi Sachae Sio Man Raathaa Hae ||2||
जो तुधु भावै सोई करसहि सचे सिउ मनु राता हे ॥२॥
You do whatever You please; my mind is attuned to the True Lord. ||2||
ਆਪੇ ਹੀਰਾ ਰਤਨੁ ਅਮੋਲੋ ॥
Aapae Heeraa Rathan Amolo ||
आपे हीरा रतनु अमोलो ॥
You Yourself are the priceless diamond and jewel.
ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰੀ ਤੋਲੇ ਤੋਲੋ ॥
Aapae Nadharee Tholae Tholo ||
आपे नदरी तोले तोलो ॥
In Your Mercy, You weigh with Your scale.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਆਪਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Jeea Janth Sabh Saran Thumaaree Kar Kirapaa Aap Pashhaathaa Hae ||3||
जीअ जंत सभि सरणि तुमारी करि किरपा आपि पछाता हे ॥३॥
All beings and creatures are under Your protection. One who is blessed by Your Grace realizes his own self. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਧੁਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
Jis No Nadhar Hovai Dhhur Thaeree ||
जिस नो नदरि होवै धुरि तेरी ॥
One who receives Your Mercy, O Primal Lord,
ਮਰੈ ਨ ਜੰਮੈ ਚੂਕੈ ਫੇਰੀ ॥
Marai N Janmai Chookai Faeree ||
मरै न जमै चूकै फेरी ॥
Does not die, and is not reborn; he is released from the cycle of reincarnation.
ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
Saachae Gun Gaavai Dhin Raathee Jug Jug Eaeko Jaathaa Hae ||4||
साचे गुण गावै दिनु राती जुगि जुगि एको जाता हे ॥४॥
He sings the Glorious Praises of the True Lord, day and night, and, throughout the ages, he knows the One Lord. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohi Sabh Jagath Oupaaeiaa ||
माइआ मोहि सभु जगतु उपाइआ ॥
Emotional attachment to Maya wells up throughout the whole world,
ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਦੇਵ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
Brehamaa Bisan Dhaev Sabaaeiaa ||
ब्रहमा बिसनु देव सबाइआ ॥
From Brahma, Vishnu and all the demi-gods.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣੇ ਸੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਮਤੀ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
Jo Thudhh Bhaanae Sae Naam Laagae Giaan Mathee Pashhaathaa Hae ||5||
जो तुधु भाणे से नामि लागे गिआन मती पछाता हे ॥५॥
Those who are pleasing to Your Will, are attached to the Naam; through spiritual wisdom and understanding, You are recognized. ||5||
ਪਾਪ ਪੁੰਨ ਵਰਤੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥
Paap Punn Varathai Sansaaraa ||
पाप पुंन वरतै संसारा ॥
The world is engrossed in vice and virtue.
ਹਰਖੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਰਾ ॥
Harakh Sog Sabh Dhukh Hai Bhaaraa ||
हरखु सोगु सभु दुखु है भारा ॥
Happiness and misery are totally loaded with pain.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Guramukh Hovai So Sukh Paaeae Jin Guramukh Naam Pashhaathaa Hae ||6||
गुरमुखि होवै सो सुखु पाए जिनि गुरमुखि नामु पछाता हे ॥६॥
One who becomes Gurmukh finds peace; such a Gurmukh recognizes the Naam. ||6||
ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Kirath N Koee Maettanehaaraa ||
किरतु न कोई मेटणहारा ॥
No one can erase the record of one's actions.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦੇ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadhae Mokh Dhuaaraa ||
गुर कै सबदे मोख दुआरा ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one finds the door of salvation.
ਪੂਰਬਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਆਪੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Poorab Likhiaa So Fal Paaeiaa Jin Aap Maar Pashhaathaa Hae ||7||
पूरबि लिखिआ सो फलु पाइआ जिनि आपु मारि पछाता हे ॥७॥
One who conquers self-conceit and recognizes the Lord, obtains the fruits of his pre-destined rewards. ||7||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohi Har Sio Chith N Laagai ||
माइआ मोहि हरि सिउ चितु न लागै ॥
Emotionally attached to Maya, one's consciousness is not attached to the Lord.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਘਣਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਆਗੈ ॥
Dhoojai Bhaae Ghanaa Dhukh Aagai ||
दूजै भाइ घणा दुखु आगै ॥
In the love of duality, he will suffer terrible agony in the world hereafter.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੇ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Manamukh Bharam Bhulae Bhaekhadhhaaree Anth Kaal Pashhuthaathaa Hae ||8||
मनमुख भरमि भुले भेखधारी अंत कालि पछुताता हे ॥८॥
The hypocritical, self-willed manmukhs are deluded by doubt; at the very last moment, they regret and repent. ||8||
ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥
Har Kai Bhaanai Har Gun Gaaeae ||
हरि कै भाणै हरि गुण गाए ॥
In accordance with the Lord's Will, he sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਕਾਟੇ ਦੂਖ ਸਬਾਏ ॥
Sabh Kilabikh Kaattae Dhookh Sabaaeae ||
सभि किलबिख काटे दूख सबाए ॥
He is rid of all sins, and all suffering.
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Har Niramal Niramal Hai Baanee Har Saethee Man Raathaa Hae ||9||
हरि निरमलु निरमल है बाणी हरि सेती मनु राता हे ॥९॥
The Lord is immaculate, and immaculate is the Word of His Bani. My mind is imbued with the Lord. ||9||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
Jis No Nadhar Karae So Gun Nidhh Paaeae ||
जिस नो नदरि करे सो गुण निधि पाए ॥
One who is blessed with the Lord's Glance of Grace, obtains the Lord, the treasure of virtue.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥
Houmai Maeraa Thaak Rehaaeae ||
हउमै मेरा ठाकि रहाए ॥
Egotism and possessiveness are brought to an end.
ਗੁਣ ਅਵਗਣ ਕਾ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਿਰਲੀ ਜਾਤਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Gun Avagan Kaa Eaeko Dhaathaa Guramukh Viralee Jaathaa Hae ||10||
गुण अवगण का एको दाता गुरमुखि विरली जाता हे ॥१०॥
The One Lord is the only Giver of virtue and vice, merits and demerits; how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, understand this. ||10||
ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਅਤਿ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Maeraa Prabh Niramal Ath Apaaraa ||
मेरा प्रभु निरमलु अति अपारा ॥
My God is immaculate, and utterly infinite.
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Aapae Maelai Gur Sabadh Veechaaraa ||
आपे मेलै गुर सबदि वीचारा ॥
God unites with Himself, through contemplation of the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
