Maahaa Maah Mumaarakhee Charriaa Sadhaa Basanth ||
माहा माह मुमारखी चड़िआ सदा बसंतु ॥
Among the months, blessed is this month, when spring always comes.
ਪਰਫੜੁ ਚਿਤ ਸਮਾਲਿ ਸੋਇ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥੧॥

परफड़ु चित समालि सोइ सदा सदा गोबिंदु ॥१॥
Blossom forth, O my consciousness, contemplating the Lord of the Universe, forever and ever. ||1||
ਭੋਲਿਆ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿ ॥
Bholiaa Houmai Surath Visaar ||
भोलिआ हउमै सुरति विसारि ॥
O ignorant one, forget your egotistical intellect.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਮਨ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਣੁ ਲੈ ਸਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Houmai Maar Beechaar Man Gun Vich Gun Lai Saar ||1|| Rehaao ||
हउमै मारि बीचारि मन गुण विचि गुणु लै सारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Subdue your ego, and contemplate Him in your mind; gather in the virtues of the Sublime, Virtuous Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਮ ਪੇਡੁ ਸਾਖਾ ਹਰੀ ਧਰਮੁ ਫੁਲੁ ਫਲੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
Karam Paedd Saakhaa Haree Dhharam Ful Fal Giaan ||
करम पेडु साखा हरी धरमु फुलु फलु गिआनु ॥
Karma is the tree, the Lord's Name the branches, Dharmic faith the flowers, and spiritual wisdom the fruit.
ਪਤ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਛਾਵ ਘਣੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਮਨ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
Path Paraapath Shhaav Ghanee Chookaa Man Abhimaan ||2||
पत परापति छाव घणी चूका मन अभिमानु ॥२॥
Realization of the Lord are the leaves, and eradication of the pride of the mind is the shade. ||2||
ਅਖੀ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੰਨੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਆਖਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Akhee Kudharath Kannee Baanee Mukh Aakhan Sach Naam ||
अखी कुदरति कंनी बाणी मुखि आखणु सचु नामु ॥
Whoever sees the Lord's Creative Power with his eyes, and hears the Guru's Bani with his ears, and utters the True Name with his mouth,
ਪਤਿ ਕਾ ਧਨੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋਆ ਲਾਗਾ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੩॥
Path Kaa Dhhan Pooraa Hoaa Laagaa Sehaj Dhhiaan ||3||
पति का धनु पूरा होआ लागा सहजि धिआनु ॥३॥
Attains the perfect wealth of honor, and intuitively focuses his meditation on the Lord. ||3||
ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਆਵਣਾ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Maahaa Ruthee Aavanaa Vaekhahu Karam Kamaae ||
माहा रुती आवणा वेखहु करम कमाइ ॥
The months and the seasons come; see, and do your deeds.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰੇ ਨ ਸੂਕਹੀ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੧॥

नानक हरे न सूकही जि गुरमुखि रहे समाइ ॥४॥१॥
O Nanak, those Gurmukhs who remain merged in the Lord do not wither away; they remain green forever. ||4||1||

रुति आईले सरस बसंत माहि ॥
The season of spring, so delightful, has come.
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਰਵਹਿ ਸਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਚਾਇ ॥
Rang Raathae Ravehi S Thaerai Chaae ||
रंगि राते रवहि सि तेरै चाइ ॥
Those who are imbued with love for You, O Lord, chant Your Name with joy.
ਕਿਸੁ ਪੂਜ ਚੜਾਵਉ ਲਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥

किसु पूज चड़ावउ लगउ पाइ ॥१॥
Whom else should I worship? At whose feet should I bow? ||1||

तेरा दासनि दासा कहउ राइ ॥
I am the slave of Your slaves, O my Sovereign Lord King.
ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

तेरी मूरति एका बहुतु रूप ॥
You have only One Form, and yet You have countless forms.
ਕਿਸੁ ਪੂਜ ਚੜਾਵਉ ਦੇਉ ਧੂਪ ॥
Kis Pooj Charraavo Dhaeo Dhhoop ||
किसु पूज चड़ावउ देउ धूप ॥
Which one should I worship? Before which one should I burn incense?
ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਹਾ ਪਾਇ ॥
Thaeraa Anth N Paaeiaa Kehaa Paae ||
तेरा अंतु न पाइआ कहा पाइ ॥
Your limits cannot be found. How can anyone find them?
ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਕਹਉ ਰਾਇ ॥੨॥

तेरा दासनि दासा कहउ राइ ॥२॥

ਤੇਰੇ ਸਠਿ ਸੰਬਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੀਰਥਾ ॥
Thaerae Sath Sanbath Sabh Theerathhaa ||
तेरे सठि स्मबत सभि तीरथा ॥
The cycles of years and the places of pilgrimage are Yours, O Lord.
ਤੇਰਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰਾ ॥
Thaeraa Sach Naam Paramaesaraa ||
तेरा सचु नामु परमेसरा ॥
Your Name is True, O Transcendent Lord God.
ਤੇਰੀ ਗਤਿ ਅਵਿਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥
Thaeree Gath Avigath Nehee Jaaneeai ||
तेरी गति अविगति नही जाणीऐ ॥
Your State cannot be known, O Eternal, Unchanging Lord God.
ਅਣਜਾਣਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥੩॥
Anajaanath Naam Vakhaaneeai ||3||
अणजाणत नामु वखाणीऐ ॥३॥
Although You are unknown, still we chant Your Name. ||3||
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੈ ॥
Naanak Vaechaaraa Kiaa Kehai ||
नानकु वेचारा किआ कहै ॥
What can poor Nanak say?
ਸਭੁ ਲੋਕੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਏਕਸੈ ॥
Sabh Lok Salaahae Eaekasai ||
सभु लोकु सलाहे एकसै ॥
All people praise the One Lord.
ਸਿਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੋਕਾ ਪਾਵ ਹੈ ॥
Sir Naanak Lokaa Paav Hai ||
सिरु नानक लोका पाव है ॥
Nanak places his head on the feet of such people.
ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਉ ਜੇਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਵ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥
Balihaaree Jaao Jaethae Thaerae Naav Hai ||4||2||
बलिहारी जाउ जेते तेरे नाव है ॥४॥२॥
I am a sacrifice to Your Names, as many as there are, O Lord. ||4||2||

ਸੁਇਨੇ ਕਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਕੰਚਨ ਕੁਆਰ ॥
Sueinae Kaa Choukaa Kanchan Kuaar ||
सुइने का चउका कंचन कुआर ॥
The kitchen is golden, and the cooking pots are golden.
ਰੁਪੇ ਕੀਆ ਕਾਰਾ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਬਿਸਥਾਰੁ ॥
Rupae Keeaa Kaaraa Bahuth Bisathhaar ||
रुपे कीआ कारा बहुतु बिसथारु ॥
The lines marking the cooking square are silver.
ਗੰਗਾ ਕਾ ਉਦਕੁ ਕਰੰਤੇ ਕੀ ਆਗਿ ॥
Gangaa Kaa Oudhak Karanthae Kee Aag ||
गंगा का उदकु करंते की आगि ॥
The water is from the Ganges, and the firewood is sanctified.
ਗਰੁੜਾ ਖਾਣਾ ਦੁਧ ਸਿਉ ਗਾਡਿ ॥੧॥
Garurraa Khaanaa Dhudhh Sio Gaadd ||1||
गरुड़ा खाणा दुध सिउ गाडि ॥१॥
The food is soft rice, cooked in milk. ||1||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਲੇਖੈ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥

रे मन लेखै कबहू न पाइ ॥
