ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Dhar Saachai Sach Sobhaa Hoe ||
दरि साचै सचु सोभा होइ ॥
In the Court of the True Lord, he obtains true glory.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
Nij Ghar Vaasaa Paavai Soe ||3||
निज घरि वासा पावै सोइ ॥३॥
He comes to dwell in the home of his own inner being. ||3||
ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥
Aap Abhul Sachaa Sach Soe ||
आपि अभुलु सचा सचु सोइ ॥
He cannot be fooled; He is the Truest of the True.
ਹੋਰਿ ਸਭਿ ਭੂਲਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
Hor Sabh Bhoolehi Dhoojai Path Khoe ||
होरि सभि भूलहि दूजै पति खोइ ॥
All others are deluded; in duality, they lose their honor.
ਸਾਚਾ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਾਚੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
Saachaa Saevahu Saachee Baanee ||
साचा सेवहु साची बाणी ॥
So serve the True Lord, through the True Bani of His Word.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥੪॥੯॥
Naanak Naamae Saach Samaanee ||4||9||
नानक नामे साचि समाणी ॥४॥९॥
O Nanak, through the Naam, merge in the True Lord. ||4||9||

ਬਿਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਸਭ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥
Bin Karamaa Sabh Bharam Bhulaaee ||
बिनु करमा सभ भरमि भुलाई ॥
Without the grace of good karma, all are deluded by doubt.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohi Bahuth Dhukh Paaee ||
माइआ मोहि बहुतु दुखु पाई ॥
In attachment to Maya, they suffer in terrible pain.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
Manamukh Andhhae Thour N Paaee ||
मनमुख अंधे ठउर न पाई ॥
The blind, self-willed manmukhs find no place of rest.
ਬਿਸਟਾ ਕਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥
Bisattaa Kaa Keerraa Bisattaa Maahi Samaaee ||1||
बिसटा का कीड़ा बिसटा माहि समाई ॥१॥
They are like maggots in manure, rotting away in manure. ||1||
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
Hukam Mannae So Jan Paravaan ||
हुकमु मंने सो जनु परवाणु ॥
That humble being who obeys the Hukam of the Lord's Command is accepted.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुर कै सबदि नामि नीसाणु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he is blessed with the insignia and the banner of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹਾ ਧੁਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Saach Rathae Jinhaa Dhhur Likh Paaeiaa ||
साचि रते जिन्हा धुरि लिखि पाइआ ॥
Those who have such pre-ordained destiny are imbued with the Naam.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Har Kaa Naam Sadhaa Man Bhaaeiaa ||
हरि का नामु सदा मनि भाइआ ॥
The Name of the Lord is forever pleasing to their minds.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Kee Baanee Sadhaa Sukh Hoe ||
सतिगुर की बाणी सदा सुखु होइ ॥
Through the Bani, the Word of the True Guru, eternal peace is found.
ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
Jothee Joth Milaaeae Soe ||2||
जोती जोति मिलाए सोइ ॥२॥
Through it, one's light merges into the Light. ||2||
ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Eaek Naam Thaarae Sansaar ||
एकु नामु तारे संसारु ॥
Only the Naam, the Name of the Lord, can save the world.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Naam Piaar ||
गुर परसादी नाम पिआरु ॥
By Guru's Grace, one comes to love the Naam.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
Bin Naamai Mukath Kinai N Paaee ||
बिनु नामै मुकति किनै न पाई ॥
Without the Naam, no one obtains liberation.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥
Poorae Gur Thae Naam Palai Paaee ||3||
पूरे गुर ते नामु पलै पाई ॥३॥
Through the Perfect Guru, the Naam is obtained. ||3||
ਸੋ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
So Boojhai Jis Aap Bujhaaeae ||
सो बूझै जिसु आपि बुझाए ॥
He alone understands, whom the Lord Himself causes to understand.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਏ ॥
Sathigur Saevaa Naam Dhrirrhaaeae ||
सतिगुर सेवा नामु द्रिड़्हाए ॥
Serving the True Guru, the Naam is implanted within.
ਜਿਨ ਇਕੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
Jin Eik Jaathaa Sae Jan Paravaan ||
जिन इकु जाता से जन परवाणु ॥
Those humble beings who know the One Lord are approved and accepted.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੧੦॥
Naanak Naam Rathae Dhar Neesaan ||4||10||
नानक नामि रते दरि नीसाणु ॥४॥१०॥
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, they go to the Lord's Court with His banner and insignia. ||4||10||

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

क्रिपा करे सतिगुरू मिलाए ॥
Granting His Grace, the Lord leads the mortal to meet the True Guru.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥
Aapae Aap Vasai Man Aaeae ||
आपे आपि वसै मनि आए ॥
The Lord Himself comes to abide in his mind.
ਨਿਹਚਲ ਮਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨ ਧੀਰ ॥
Nihachal Math Sadhaa Man Dhheer ||
निहचल मति सदा मन धीर ॥
His intellect becomes steady and stable, and his mind is strengthened forever.
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰ ॥੧॥
Har Gun Gaavai Gunee Geheer ||1||
हरि गुण गावै गुणी गहीर ॥१॥
He sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, the Ocean of Virtue. ||1||
ਨਾਮਹੁ ਭੂਲੇ ਮਰਹਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
Naamahu Bhoolae Marehi Bikh Khaae ||
नामहु भूले मरहि बिखु खाइ ॥
Those who forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord - those mortals die eating poison.
ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Brithhaa Janam Fir Aavehi Jaae ||1|| Rehaao ||
ब्रिथा जनमु फिरि आवहि जाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Their lives are wasted uselessly, and they continue coming and going in reincarnation. ||1||Pause||
ਬਹੁ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Bahu Bhaekh Karehi Man Saanth N Hoe ||
बहु भेख करहि मनि सांति न होइ ॥
They wear all sorts of religious robes, but their minds are not at peace.
ਬਹੁ ਅਭਿਮਾਨਿ ਅਪਣੀ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
Bahu Abhimaan Apanee Path Khoe ||
बहु अभिमानि अपणी पति खोइ ॥
In great egotism, they lose their honor.
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨ ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ॥
Sae Vaddabhaagee Jin Sabadh Pashhaaniaa ||
से वडभागी जिन सबदु पछाणिआ ॥
But those who realize the Word of the Shabad, are blessed by great good fortune.
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਦਾ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਆਣਿਆ ॥੨॥
Baahar Jaadhaa Ghar Mehi Aaniaa ||2||
बाहरि जादा घर महि आणिआ ॥२॥
They bring their distractible minds back home. ||2||
ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
Ghar Mehi Vasath Agam Apaaraa ||
घर महि वसतु अगम अपारा ॥
Within the home of the inner self is the inaccessible and infinite substance.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Guramath Khojehi Sabadh Beechaaraa ||
गुरमति खोजहि सबदि बीचारा ॥
Those who find it, by following the Guru's Teachings, contemplate the Shabad.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਘਰ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
Naam Nav Nidhh Paaee Ghar Hee Maahi ||
नामु नव निधि पाई घर ही माहि ॥
Those who obtain the nine treasures of the Naam within the home of their own inner being,
ਸਦਾ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
Sadhaa Rang Raathae Sach Samaahi ||3||
सदा रंगि राते सचि समाहि ॥३॥
Are forever dyed in the color of the Lord's Love; they are absorbed in the Truth. ||3||
ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Aap Karae Kishh Karan N Jaae ||
आपि करे किछु करणु न जाइ ॥
God Himself does everything; no one can do anything at all by himself.
ਆਪੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Aapae Bhaavai Leae Milaae ||
आपे भावै लए मिलाइ ॥
When God so wills, He merges the mortal into Himself.
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਨੇੜੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
This Thae Naerrai Naahee Ko Dhoor ||
तिस ते नेड़ै नाही को दूरि ॥
All are near Him; no one is far away from Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੧੧॥
Naanak Naam Rehiaa Bharapoor ||4||11||
नानक नामि रहिआ भरपूरि ॥४॥११॥
O Nanak, the Naam is permeating and pervading everywhere. ||4||11||

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, remember the Lord with love
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਰਸਿ ਰਹੈ ਅਘਾਇ ॥
Raam Naam Ras Rehai Aghaae ||
राम नाम रसि रहै अघाइ ॥
And you shall remain satisfied by the sublime essence of the Lord's Name.
ਕੋਟ ਕੋਟੰਤਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Kott Kottanthar Kae Paap Jal Jaahi ||
कोट कोटंतर के पाप जलि जाहि ॥
The sins of millions upon millions of lifetimes shall be burnt away.
ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
Jeevath Marehi Har Naam Samaahi ||1||
जीवत मरहि हरि नामि समाहि ॥१॥
Remaining dead while yet alive, you shall be absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
Har Kee Dhaath Har Jeeo Jaanai ||
हरि की दाति हरि जीउ जाणै ॥
The Dear Lord Himself knows His own bountiful blessings.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Eihu Man Mouliaa Har Gunadhaathaa Naam Vakhaanai ||1|| Rehaao ||
गुर कै सबदि इहु मनु मउलिआ हरि गुणदाता नामु वखाणै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
This mind blossoms forth in the Guru's Shabad, chanting the Name of the Lord, the Giver of virtue. ||1||Pause||
ਭਗਵੈ ਵੇਸਿ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Bhagavai Vaes Bhram Mukath N Hoe ||
भगवै वेसि भ्रमि मुकति न होइ ॥
No one is liberated by wandering around in saffron-colored robes.
ਬਹੁ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Bahu Sanjam Saanth N Paavai Koe ||
बहु संजमि सांति न पावै कोइ ॥
Tranquility is not found by strict self-discipline.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Guramath Naam Paraapath Hoe ||
गुरमति नामु परापति होइ ॥
But by following the Guru's Teachings, one is blessed to receive the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
Vaddabhaagee Har Paavai Soe ||2||
वडभागी हरि पावै सोइ ॥२॥
By great good fortune, one finds the Lord. ||2||
ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Kal Mehi Raam Naam Vaddiaaee ||
कलि महि राम नामि वडिआई ॥
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, glorious greatness comes through the Lord's Name.
