ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਈ ॥
Gur Poorae Thae Paaeiaa Jaaee ||
गुर पूरे ते पाइआ जाई ॥
Through the Perfect Guru, it is obtained.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥
Naam Rathae Sadhaa Sukh Paaee ||
नामि रते सदा सुखु पाई ॥
Those who are imbued with the Naam find everlasting peace.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
Bin Naamai Houmai Jal Jaaee ||3||
बिनु नामै हउमै जलि जाई ॥३॥
But without the Naam, mortals burn in egotism. ||3||
ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Vaddabhaagee Har Naam Beechaaraa ||
वडभागी हरि नामु बीचारा ॥
By great good furtune, some contemplate the Lord's Name.
ਛੂਟੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਾਰਾ ॥
Shhoottai Raam Naam Dhukh Saaraa ||
छूटै राम नामि दुखु सारा ॥
Through the Lord's Name, all sorrows are eradicated.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਸੁ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਪਾਸਾਰਾ ॥
Hiradhai Vasiaa S Baahar Paasaaraa ||
हिरदै वसिआ सु बाहरि पासारा ॥
He dwells within the heart, and pervades the external universe as well.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਭੁ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧੨॥

I am just a worm, created by You, O Lord.
ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਜਾਪੀ ਆਦਿ ਮੰਤੁ ॥੧॥

देहि त जापी आदि मंतु ॥१॥
If you bless me, then I chant Your Primal Mantra. ||1||
ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
Gun Aakh Veechaaree Maeree Maae ||
गुण आखि वीचारी मेरी माइ ॥
I chant and reflect on His Glorious Virtues, O my mother.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हरि जपि हरि कै लगउ पाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Meditating on the Lord, I fall at the Lord's Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥
Gur Prasaadh Laagae Naam Suaadh ||
गुर प्रसादि लागे नाम सुआदि ॥
By Guru's Grace, I am addicted to the favor of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਕਾਹੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੁ ਵੈਰਿ ਵਾਦਿ ॥੨॥
Kaahae Janam Gavaavahu Vair Vaadh ||2||
काहे जनमु गवावहु वैरि वादि ॥२॥
Why waste your life in hatred, vengeance and conflict? ||2||
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਨ੍ਹ੍ਹੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
Gur Kirapaa Keenhee Chookaa Abhimaan ||
गुरि किरपा कीन्ही चूका अभिमानु ॥
When the Guru granted His Grace, my egotism was eradicated,
ਸਹਜ ਭਾਇ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੩॥
Sehaj Bhaae Paaeiaa Har Naam ||3||
सहज भाइ पाइआ हरि नामु ॥३॥
And then, I obtained the Lord's Name with intuitive ease. ||3||
ਊਤਮੁ ਊਚਾ ਸਬਦ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
Ootham Oochaa Sabadh Kaam ||
ऊतमु ऊचा सबद कामु ॥
The most lofty and exalted occupation is to contemplate the Word of the Shabad.

The season of spring has come, and all the plants have blossomed forth.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਉਲਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੧॥
Eihu Man Mouliaa Sathiguroo Sang ||1||
इहु मनु मउलिआ सतिगुरू संगि ॥१॥
This mind blossoms forth, in association with the True Guru. ||1||
ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਸਾਚੁ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨਾ ॥
Thumh Saach Dhhiaavahu Mugadhh Manaa ||
तुम्ह साचु धिआवहु मुगध मना ॥
So meditate on the True Lord, O my foolish mind.
ਤਾਂ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Thaan Sukh Paavahu Maerae Manaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
तां सुखु पावहु मेरे मना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Only then shall you find peace, O my mind. ||1||Pause||
ਇਤੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਉਲਿਐ ਭਇਆ ਅਨੰਦੁ ॥
Eith Man Mouliai Bhaeiaa Anandh ||
इतु मनि मउलिऐ भइआ अनंदु ॥
This mind blossoms forth, and I am in ecstasy.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ॥੨॥
Anmrith Fal Paaeiaa Naam Gobindh ||2||
अम्रित फलु पाइआ नामु गोबिंद ॥२॥
I am blessed with the Ambrosial Fruit of the Naam, the Name of the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
Eaeko Eaek Sabh Aakh Vakhaanai ||
एको एकु सभु आखि वखाणै ॥
Everyone speaks and says that the Lord is the One and Only.
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੂਝੈ ਤਾਂ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥੩॥
Hukam Boojhai Thaan Eaeko Jaanai ||3||
हुकमु बूझै तां एको जाणै ॥३॥
By understanding the Hukam of His Command, we come to know the One Lord. ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Kehath Naanak Houmai Kehai N Koe ||
कहत नानकु हउमै कहै न कोइ ॥
Says Nanak, no one can describe the Lord by speaking through ego.
ਆਖਣੁ ਵੇਖਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੪॥

आखणु वेखणु सभु साहिब ते होइ ॥४॥२॥१४॥
All speech and insight comes from our Lord and Master. ||4||2||14||

All the ages were created by You, O Lord.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਮਤਿ ਬੁਧਿ ਹੋਏ ॥੧॥

सतिगुरु भेटै मति बुधि होए ॥१॥
Meeting with the True Guru, one's intellect is awakened. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਆਪੇ ਲੈਹੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Har Jeeo Aapae Laihu Milaae ||
हरि जीउ आपे लैहु मिलाइ ॥
O Dear Lord, please blend me with Yourself;

मनि बसंतु हरे सभि लोइ ॥
When the mind is in spring, all people are rejuvenated.
ਫਲਹਿ ਫੁਲੀਅਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
Falehi Fuleeahi Raam Naam Sukh Hoe ||2||
फलहि फुलीअहि राम नामि सुखु होइ ॥२॥
Blossoming forth and flowering through the Lord's Name, peace is obtained. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
Sadhaa Basanth Gur Sabadh Veechaarae ||
सदा बसंतु गुर सबदु वीचारे ॥
Contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one is in spring forever
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੩॥
Raam Naam Raakhai Our Dhhaarae ||3||
राम नामु राखै उर धारे ॥३॥
With the Lord's Name enshrined in the heart. ||3||
ਮਨਿ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥
Man Basanth Than Man Hariaa Hoe ||
मनि बसंतु तनु मनु हरिआ होइ ॥
When the mind is in spring, the body and mind are rejuvenated.
ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਬਿਰਖੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੫॥
Naanak Eihu Than Birakh Raam Naam Fal Paaeae Soe ||4||3||15||
नानक इहु तनु बिरखु राम नामु फलु पाए सोइ ॥४॥३॥१५॥
O Nanak, this body is the tree which bears the fruit of the Lord's Name. ||4||3||15||

तिन्ह बसंतु जो हरि गुण गाइ ॥
They alone are in the spring season, who sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਇ ॥੧॥
Poorai Bhaag Har Bhagath Karaae ||1||
पूरै भागि हरि भगति कराइ ॥१॥
They come to worship the Lord with devotion, through their perfect destiny. ||1||
ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਬਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਸੋਇ ॥
Eis Man Ko Basanth Kee Lagai N Soe ||
इसु मन कउ बसंत की लगै न सोइ ॥
This mind is not even touched by spring.
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਜਲਿਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਦੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Eihu Man Jaliaa Dhoojai Dhoe ||1|| Rehaao ||
इहु मनु जलिआ दूजै दोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
This mind is burnt by duality and double-mindedness. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਧੰਧੈ ਬਾਂਧਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Eihu Man Dhhandhhai Baandhhaa Karam Kamaae ||
इहु मनु धंधै बांधा करम कमाइ ॥
This mind is entangled in worldly affairs, creating more and more karma.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੂਠਾ ਸਦਾ ਬਿਲਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
Maaeiaa Moothaa Sadhaa Bilalaae ||2||
माइआ मूठा सदा बिललाइ ॥२॥
Enchanted by Maya, it cries out in suffering forever. ||2||
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਛੂਟੈ ਜਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ॥
Eihu Man Shhoottai Jaan Sathigur Bhaettai ||
इहु मनु छूटै जां सतिगुरु भेटै ॥
This mind is released, only when it meets with the True Guru.
ਜਮਕਾਲ ਕੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਫੇਟੈ ॥੩॥
Jamakaal Kee Fir Aavai N Faettai ||3||
जमकाल की फिरि आवै न फेटै ॥३॥
Then, it does not suffer beatings by the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਛੂਟਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਲੀਆ ਛਡਾਇ ॥
Eihu Man Shhoottaa Gur Leeaa Shhaddaae ||
इहु मनु छूटा गुरि लीआ छडाइ ॥
This mind is released, when the Guru emancipates it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੬॥
Naanak Maaeiaa Mohu Sabadh Jalaae ||4||4||16||
नानक माइआ मोहु सबदि जलाइ ॥४॥४॥१६॥
O Nanak, attachment to Maya is burnt away through the Word of the Shabad. ||4||4||16||

Spring has come, and all the plants are flowering.
ਏਹਿ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਫੂਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Eaehi Jeea Janth Foolehi Har Chith Laae ||1||
एहि जीअ जंत फूलहि हरि चितु लाइ ॥१॥
These beings and creatures blossom forth when they focus their consciousness on the Lord. ||1||
