गुर की मूरति मन महि धिआनु ॥
Meditate on the image of the Guru within your mind;
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Manthra Man Maan ||
गुर कै सबदि मंत्रु मनु मान ॥
Let your mind accept the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and His Mantra.
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਧਾਰਉ ॥
Gur Kae Charan Ridhai Lai Dhhaaro ||
गुर के चरन रिदै लै धारउ ॥
Enshrine the Guru's feet within your heart.
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਉ ॥੧॥

गुरु पारब्रहमु सदा नमसकारउ ॥१॥
Bow in humility forever before the Guru, the Supreme Lord God. ||1||
ਮਤ ਕੋ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
Math Ko Bharam Bhulai Sansaar ||
मत को भरमि भुलै संसारि ॥
Let no one wander in doubt in the world.

Bhoolae Ko Gur Maarag Paaeiaa ||
भूले कउ गुरि मारगि पाइआ ॥
The Guru shows the Path to those who have wandered off.
ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥
Avar Thiaag Har Bhagathee Laaeiaa ||
अवर तिआगि हरि भगती लाइआ ॥
He leads them to renounce others, and attaches them to devotional worship of the Lord.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥
Janam Maran Kee Thraas Mittaaee ||
जनम मरन की त्रास मिटाई ॥
He obliterates the fear of birth and death.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੨॥
Gur Poorae Kee Baeanth Vaddaaee ||2||
गुर पूरे की बेअंत वडाई ॥२॥
The glorious greatness of the Perfect Guru is endless. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਊਰਧ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸ ॥
Gur Prasaadh Ooradhh Kamal Bigaas ||
गुर प्रसादि ऊरध कमल बिगास ॥
By Guru's Grace, the inverted heart-lotus blossoms forth,
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥
Andhhakaar Mehi Bhaeiaa Pragaas ||
अंधकार महि भइआ प्रगास ॥
And the Light shines forth in the darkness.
ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥
Jin Keeaa So Gur Thae Jaaniaa ||
जिनि कीआ सो गुर ते जानिआ ॥
Through the Guru, know the One who created you.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥
Gur Kirapaa Thae Mugadhh Man Maaniaa ||3||
गुर किरपा ते मुगध मनु मानिआ ॥३॥
By the Guru's Mercy, the foolish mind comes to believe. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥
Gur Karathaa Gur Karanai Jog ||
गुरु करता गुरु करणै जोगु ॥
The Guru is the Creator; the Guru has the power to do everything.
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਗੁ ॥
Gur Paramaesar Hai Bhee Hog ||
गुरु परमेसरु है भी होगु ॥
The Guru is the Transcendent Lord; He is, and always shall be.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਇਹੈ ਜਨਾਈ ॥
Kahu Naanak Prabh Eihai Janaaee ||
कहु नानक प्रभि इहै जनाई ॥
Says Nanak, God has inspired me to know this.

बिनु गुर मुकति न पाईऐ भाई ॥४॥५॥७॥
Without the Guru, liberation is not obtained, O Siblings of Destiny. ||4||5||7||

Chant Guru, Guru, Guru, O my mind.
ਗੁਰੂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਹੋਰ ॥
Guroo Binaa Mai Naahee Hor ||
गुरू बिना मै नाही होर ॥
I have no other than the Guru.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਰਹਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥
Gur Kee Ttaek Rehahu Dhin Raath ||
गुर की टेक रहहु दिनु राति ॥
I lean upon the Support of the Guru, day and night.
ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੧॥
Jaa Kee Koe N Maettai Dhaath ||1||
जा की कोइ न मेटै दाति ॥१॥
No one can decrease His bounty. ||1||
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥

गुरु परमेसरु एको जाणु ॥
Know that the Guru and the Transcendent Lord are One.
ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जो तिसु भावै सो परवाणु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Whatever pleases Him is acceptable and approved. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ॥

गुर चरणी जा का मनु लागै ॥
One whose mind is attached to the Guru's feet
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
Dhookh Dharadh Bhram Thaa Kaa Bhaagai ||
दूखु दरदु भ्रमु ता का भागै ॥
His pains, sufferings and doubts run away.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਾਏ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Gur Kee Saevaa Paaeae Maan ||
गुर की सेवा पाए मानु ॥
Serving the Guru, honor is obtained.
ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
Gur Oopar Sadhaa Kurabaan ||2||
गुर ऊपरि सदा कुरबानु ॥२॥
I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
Gur Kaa Dharasan Dhaekh Nihaal ||
गुर का दरसनु देखि निहाल ॥
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, I am exalted.
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਘਾਲ ॥
Gur Kae Saevak Kee Pooran Ghaal ||
गुर के सेवक की पूरन घाल ॥
The work of the Guru's servant is perfect.
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
Gur Kae Saevak Ko Dhukh N Biaapai ||
गुर के सेवक कउ दुखु न बिआपै ॥
Pain does not afflict the Guru's servant.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੩॥
Gur Kaa Saevak Dheh Dhis Jaapai ||3||
गुर का सेवकु दह दिसि जापै ॥३॥
The Guru's servant is famous in the ten directions. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Gur Kee Mehimaa Kathhan N Jaae ||
गुर की महिमा कथनु न जाइ ॥
The Guru's glory cannot be described.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Paarabreham Gur Rehiaa Samaae ||
पारब्रहमु गुरु रहिआ समाइ ॥
The Guru remains absorbed in the Supreme Lord God.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ॥

कहु नानक जा के पूरे भाग ॥
Says Nanak, one who is blessed with perfect destiny

I worship and adore my Guru; the Guru is the Lord of the Universe.

Gur Maeraa Paarabreham Gur Bhagavanth ||
गुरु मेरा पारब्रहमु गुरु भगवंतु ॥
My Guru is the Supreme Lord God; the Guru is the Lord God.
ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੇਉ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਉ ॥
Gur Maeraa Dhaeo Alakh Abhaeo ||
गुरु मेरा देउ अलख अभेउ ॥
My Guru is divine, invisible and mysterious.
ਸਰਬ ਪੂਜ ਚਰਨ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਉ ॥੧॥

सरब पूज चरन गुर सेउ ॥१॥
I serve at the Guru's feet, which are worshipped by all. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਥਾਉ ॥
Gur Bin Avar Naahee Mai Thhaao ||
गुर बिनु अवरु नाही मै थाउ ॥
Without the Guru, I have no other place at all.

गुरु मेरा गिआनु गुरु रिदै धिआनु ॥
The Guru is my spiritual wisdom, the Guru is the meditation within my heart.
ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥

गुरु गोपालु पुरखु भगवानु ॥
The Guru is the Lord of the World, the Primal Being, the Lord God.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਰਹਉ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ॥

गुर की सरणि रहउ कर जोरि ॥
With my palms pressed together, I remain in the Guru's Sanctuary.

गुरू बिना मै नाही होरु ॥२॥
Without the Guru, I have no other at all. ||2||

गुरु बोहिथु तारे भव पारि ॥
The Guru is the boat to cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਿ ॥
Gur Saevaa Jam Thae Shhuttakaar ||
गुर सेवा जम ते छुटकारि ॥
Serving the Guru, one is released from the Messenger of Death.
ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਉਜਾਰਾ ॥
Andhhakaar Mehi Gur Manthra Oujaaraa ||
अंधकार महि गुर मंत्रु उजारा ॥
In the darkness, the Guru's Mantra shines forth.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੩॥
Gur Kai Sang Sagal Nisathaaraa ||3||
गुर कै संगि सगल निसतारा ॥३॥
With the Guru, all are saved. ||3||
ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
Gur Pooraa Paaeeai Vaddabhaagee ||
गुरु पूरा पाईऐ वडभागी ॥
The Perfect Guru is found, by great good fortune.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
Gur Kee Saevaa Dhookh N Laagee ||
गुर की सेवा दूखु न लागी ॥
Serving the Guru, pain does not afflict anyone.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Gur Kaa Sabadh N Maettai Koe ||
गुर का सबदु न मेटै कोइ ॥
No one can erase the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
