ਹਰਿ ਉਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗਾਵਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਦੁ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਰਾਗੁ ॥
Har Outham Har Prabh Gaaviaa Kar Naadh Bilaaval Raag ||
हरि उतमु हरि प्रभु गाविआ करि नादु बिलावलु रागु ॥
I sing of the sublime Lord, the Lord God, in the melody of Raag Bilaaval.
ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
Oupadhaes Guroo Sun Manniaa Dhhur Masathak Pooraa Bhaag ||
उपदेसु गुरू सुणि मंनिआ धुरि मसतकि पूरा भागु ॥
Hearing the Guru's Teachings, I obey them; this is the pre-ordained destiny written upon my forehead.
ਸਭ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
Sabh Dhinas Rain Gun Oucharai Har Har Har Our Liv Laag ||
सभ दिनसु रैणि गुण उचरै हरि हरि हरि उरि लिव लागु ॥
All day and night, I chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har; within my heart, I am lovingly attuned to Him.
ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹਰਿਆ ਬਾਗੁ ॥
Sabh Than Man Hariaa Hoeiaa Man Khirriaa Hariaa Baag ||
सभु तनु मनु हरिआ होइआ मनु खिड़िआ हरिआ बागु ॥
My body and mind are totally rejuvenated, and the garden of my mind has blossomed forth in lush abundance.
ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਚਰਾਗੁ ॥
Agiaan Andhhaeraa Mitt Gaeiaa Gur Chaanan Giaan Charaag ||
अगिआनु अंधेरा मिटि गइआ गुर चानणु गिआनु चरागु ॥
The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled, with the light of the lamp of the Guru's wisdom. Servant Nanak lives by beholding the Lord.
ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥
Jan Naanak Jeevai Dhaekh Har Eik Nimakh Gharree Mukh Laag ||1||
जनु नानकु जीवै देखि हरि इक निमख घड़ी मुखि लागु ॥१॥
Let me behold Your face, for a moment, even an instant! ||1||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਜਬ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Bilaaval Thab Hee Keejeeai Jab Mukh Hovai Naam ||
बिलावलु तब ही कीजीऐ जब मुखि होवै नामु ॥
Be happy and sing in Bilaaval, when the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is in your mouth.
ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Raag Naadh Sabadh Sohanae Jaa Laagai Sehaj Dhhiaan ||
राग नाद सबदि सोहणे जा लागै सहजि धिआनु ॥
The melody and music, and the Word of the Shabad are beautiful, when one focuses his meditation on the celestial Lord.
ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਛੋਡਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Raag Naadh Shhodd Har Saeveeai Thaa Dharageh Paaeeai Maan ||
राग नाद छोडि हरि सेवीऐ ता दरगह पाईऐ मानु ॥
So leave behind the melody and music, and serve the Lord; then, you shall obtain honor in the Court of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
Naanak Guramukh Breham Beechaareeai Chookai Man Abhimaan ||2||
नानक गुरमुखि ब्रहमु बीचारीऐ चूकै मनि अभिमानु ॥२॥
O Nanak, as Gurmukh, contemplate God, and rid your mind of egotistical pride. ||2||

ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥
Thoo Har Prabh Aap Aganm Hai Sabh Thudhh Oupaaeiaa ||
तू हरि प्रभु आपि अगमु है सभि तुधु उपाइआ ॥
O Lord God, You Yourself are inaccessible; You formed everything.
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
Thoo Aapae Aap Varathadhaa Sabh Jagath Sabaaeiaa ||
तू आपे आपि वरतदा सभु जगतु सबाइआ ॥
You Yourself are totally permeating and pervading the entire universe.
ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈਐ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥
Thudhh Aapae Thaarree Laaeeai Aapae Gun Gaaeiaa ||
तुधु आपे ताड़ी लाईऐ आपे गुण गाइआ ॥
You Yourself are absorbed in the state of deep meditation; You Yourself sing Your Glorious Praises.
ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਭਗਤਹੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥
Har Dhhiaavahu Bhagathahu Dhinas Raath Anth Leae Shhaddaaeiaa ||
हरि धिआवहु भगतहु दिनसु राति अंति लए छडाइआ ॥
Meditate on the Lord, O devotees, day and night; He shall deliver you in the end.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Jin Saeviaa Thin Sukh Paaeiaa Har Naam Samaaeiaa ||1||
जिनि सेविआ तिनि सुखु पाइआ हरि नामि समाइआ ॥१॥
Those who serve the Lord, find peace; they are absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Dhoojai Bhaae Bilaaval N Hovee Manamukh Thhaae N Paae ||
दूजै भाइ बिलावलु न होवई मनमुखि थाइ न पाइ ॥
In the love of duality, the happiness of Bilaaval does not come; the self-willed manmukh finds no place of rest.
ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Paakhandd Bhagath N Hovee Paarabreham N Paaeiaa Jaae ||
पाखंडि भगति न होवई पारब्रहमु न पाइआ जाइ ॥
Through hypocrisy, devotional worship does not come, and the Supreme Lord God is not found.
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Manehath Karam Kamaavanae Thhaae N Koee Paae ||
मनहठि करम कमावणे थाइ न कोई पाइ ॥
By stubborn-mindedly performing religious rituals, no one obtains the approval of the Lord.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥
Naanak Guramukh Aap Beechaareeai Vichahu Aap Gavaae ||
नानक गुरमुखि आपु बीचारीऐ विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands himself, and eradicates self-conceit from within.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥
Aapae Aap Paarabreham Hai Paarabreham Vasiaa Man Aae ||
आपे आपि पारब्रहमु है पारब्रहमु वसिआ मनि आइ ॥
He Himself is the Supreme Lord God; the Supreme Lord God comes to dwell in his mind.
ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Janman Maranaa Kattiaa Jothee Joth Milaae ||1||
जमणु मरणा कटिआ जोती जोति मिलाइ ॥१॥
Birth and death are erased, and his light blends with the Light. ||1||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਕਰਿਹੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਪਿਆਰਿਹੋ ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Bilaaval Karihu Thumh Piaariho Eaekas Sio Liv Laae ||
बिलावलु करिहु तुम्ह पिआरिहो एकसु सिउ लिव लाइ ॥
Be happy in Bilaaval, O my beloveds, and embrace love for the One Lord.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਸਚੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥
Janam Maran Dhukh Katteeai Sachae Rehai Samaae ||
जनम मरण दुखु कटीऐ सचे रहै समाइ ॥
The pains of birth and death shall be eradicated, and you shall remain absorbed in the True Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥
Sadhaa Bilaaval Anandh Hai Jae Chalehi Sathigur Bhaae ||
सदा बिलावलु अनंदु है जे चलहि सतिगुर भाइ ॥
You shall be blissful forever in Bilaaval, if you walk in harmony with the Will of the True Guru.
ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਬਹਿ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
Sathasangathee Behi Bhaao Kar Sadhaa Har Kae Gun Gaae ||
सतसंगती बहि भाउ करि सदा हरि के गुण गाइ ॥
Sitting in the Saints' Congregation, sing with love the Glorious Praises of the Lord forever.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Sae Jan Sohanae J Guramukh Mael Milaae ||2||
नानक से जन सोहणे जि गुरमुखि मेलि मिलाइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, beautiful are those humble beings, who, as Gurmukh, are united in the Lord's Union. ||2||

Sabhanaa Jeeaa Vich Har Aap So Bhagathaa Kaa Mith Har ||
सभना जीआ विचि हरि आपि सो भगता का मितु हरि ॥
The Lord Himself is within all beings. The Lord is the friend of His devotees.
ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੈ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਘਰਿ ॥
Sabh Koee Har Kai Vas Bhagathaa Kai Anandh Ghar ||
सभु कोई हरि कै वसि भगता कै अनंदु घरि ॥
Everyone is under the Lord's control; in the home of the devotees there is bliss.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਮੇਲੀ ਸਰਬਤ ਸਉ ਨਿਸੁਲ ਜਨ ਟੰਗ ਧਰਿ ॥
Har Bhagathaa Kaa Maelee Sarabath So Nisul Jan Ttang Dhhar ||
हरि भगता का मेली सरबत सउ निसुल जन टंग धरि ॥
The Lord is the friend and companion of His devotees; all His humble servants stretch out and sleep in peace.
ਹਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਸੋ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰਿ ॥
Har Sabhanaa Kaa Hai Khasam So Bhagath Jan Chith Kar ||
हरि सभना का है खसमु सो भगत जन चिति करि ॥
The Lord is the Lord and Master of all; O humble devotee, remember Him.
ਤੁਧੁ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਸਭ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਪਵੈ ਝੜਿ ॥੨॥
Thudhh Aparr Koe N Sakai Sabh Jhakh Jhakh Pavai Jharr ||2||
तुधु अपड़ि कोइ न सकै सभ झखि झखि पवै झड़ि ॥२॥
No one can equal You, Lord. Those who try, struggle and die in frustration. ||2||
