किछु किसी कै हथि नाही मेरे सुआमी ऐसी मेरै सतिगुरि बूझ बुझाई ॥
Nothing is in the hands of anyone, O my Lord and Master; such is the understanding the True Guru has given me to understand.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਤੂ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜੋ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਨਾਸਾ ॥
Aisaa Har Saeveeai Nith Dhhiaaeeai Jo Khin Mehi Kilavikh Sabh Karae Binaasaa ||
ऐसा हरि सेवीऐ नित धिआईऐ जो खिन महि किलविख सभि करे बिनासा ॥
Serve such a Lord, and ever meditate on Him, who in an instant erases all sins and mistakes.
ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਅਵਰ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਸਾ ॥
Jae Har Thiaag Avar Kee Aas Keejai Thaa Har Nihafal Sabh Ghaal Gavaasaa ||
जे हरि तिआगि अवर की आस कीजै ता हरि निहफल सभ घाल गवासा ॥
If someone forsakes the Lord and places his hopes in another, then all his service to the Lord is rendered fruitless.
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਾਸਾ ॥੧॥
Maerae Man Har Saevihu Sukhadhaathaa Suaamee Jis Saeviai Sabh Bhukh Lehaasaa ||1||
मेरे मन हरि सेविहु सुखदाता सुआमी जिसु सेविऐ सभ भुख लहासा ॥१॥
O my mind, serve the Lord, the Giver of peace; serving Him, all your hunger shall depart. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੀਜੈ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥

मेरे मन हरि ऊपरि कीजै भरवासा ॥
O my mind, place your faith in the Lord.
ਜਹ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਹ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਜਨ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जह जाईऐ तह नालि मेरा सुआमी हरि अपनी पैज रखै जन दासा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Wherever I go, my Lord and Master is there with me. The Lord saves the honor of His humble servants and slaves. ||1||Pause||
ਜੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਤਾ ਆਗੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਢਾਸਾ ॥
Jae Apanee Birathhaa Kehahu Avaraa Pehi Thaa Aagai Apanee Birathhaa Bahu Bahuth Kadtaasaa ||
जे अपनी बिरथा कहहु अवरा पहि ता आगै अपनी बिरथा बहु बहुतु कढासा ॥
If you tell your sorrows to another, then he, in return, will tell you of his greater sorrows.
ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੇ ਦੂਖ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਕਟਾਸਾ ॥
Apanee Birathhaa Kehahu Har Apunae Suaamee Pehi Jo Thumharae Dhookh Thathakaal Kattaasaa ||
अपनी बिरथा कहहु हरि अपुने सुआमी पहि जो तुम्हरे दूख ततकाल कटासा ॥
So tell your sorrows to the Lord, your Lord and Master, who shall instantly dispel your pain.
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਮਨ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਸਾ ॥੨॥
So Aisaa Prabh Shhodd Apanee Birathhaa Avaraa Pehi Keheeai Avaraa Pehi Kehi Man Laaj Maraasaa ||2||
सो ऐसा प्रभु छोडि अपनी बिरथा अवरा पहि कहीऐ अवरा पहि कहि मन लाज मरासा ॥२॥
Forsaking such a Lord God, if you tell your sorrows to another, then you shall die of shame. ||2||
ਜੋ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਮਿਲਾਸਾ ॥
Jo Sansaarai Kae Kuttanb Mithr Bhaaee Dheesehi Man Maerae Thae Sabh Apanai Suaae Milaasaa ||
जो संसारै के कुट्मब मित्र भाई दीसहि मन मेरे ते सभि अपनै सुआइ मिलासा ॥
The relatives, friends and siblings of the world that you see, O my mind, all meet with you for their own purposes.
ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਉਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਉ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਨੇੜੈ ਕੋ ਨ ਢੁਕਾਸਾ ॥
Jith Dhin Ounh Kaa Suaao Hoe N Aavai Thith Dhin Naerrai Ko N Dtukaasaa ||
जितु दिनि उन्ह का सुआउ होइ न आवै तितु दिनि नेड़ै को न ढुकासा ॥
And that day, when their self-interests are not served, on that day, they shall not come near you.
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਕਰੈ ਦੂਖਿ ਸੁਖਾਸਾ ॥੩॥
Man Maerae Apanaa Har Saev Dhin Raathee Jo Thudhh Oupakarai Dhookh Sukhaasaa ||3||
मन मेरे अपना हरि सेवि दिनु राती जो तुधु उपकरै दूखि सुखासा ॥३॥
O my mind, serve your Lord, day and night; He shall help you in good times and bad. ||3||
ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਰਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਾਸਾ ॥
This Kaa Bharavaasaa Kio Keejai Man Maerae Jo Anthee Aousar Rakh N Sakaasaa ||
तिस का भरवासा किउ कीजै मन मेरे जो अंती अउसरि रखि न सकासा ॥
Why place your faith in anyone, O my mind, who cannot come to your rescue at the last instant?
ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਪਹੁ ਤਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਅੰਤਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਜਿਨ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਿਤਾਸਾ ॥
Har Jap Manth Gur Oupadhaes Lai Jaapahu Thinh Anth Shhaddaaeae Jinh Har Preeth Chithaasaa ||
हरि जपु मंतु गुर उपदेसु लै जापहु तिन्ह अंति छडाए जिन्ह हरि प्रीति चितासा ॥
Chant the Lord's Mantra, take the Guru's Teachings, and meditate on Him. In the end, the Lord saves those who love Him in their consciousness.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਛੂਟਣ ਕਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੨॥
Jan Naanak Anadhin Naam Japahu Har Santhahu Eihu Shhoottan Kaa Saachaa Bharavaasaa ||4||2||
जन नानक अनदिनु नामु जपहु हरि संतहु इहु छूटण का साचा भरवासा ॥४॥२॥
Servant Nanak speaks: night and day, chant the Lord's Name, O Saints; this is the only true hope for emancipation. ||4||2||

Har Simarath Sadhaa Hoe Anandh Sukh Anthar Saanth Seethal Man Apanaa ||
हरि सिमरत सदा होइ अनंदु सुखु अंतरि सांति सीतल मनु अपना ॥
Remembering the Lord in meditation, you shall find bliss and peace forever deep within, and your mind will become tranquil and cool.
ਜੈਸੇ ਸਕਤਿ ਸੂਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਜਲਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਸਿ ਦੇਖੇ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਭ ਤਪਨਾ ॥੧॥
Jaisae Sakath Soor Bahu Jalathaa Gur Sas Dhaekhae Lehi Jaae Sabh Thapanaa ||1||
जैसे सकति सूरु बहु जलता गुर ससि देखे लहि जाइ सभ तपना ॥१॥
It is like the harsh sun of Maya, with its burning heat; seeing the moon, the Guru, its heat totally vanishes. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥

मेरे मन अनदिनु धिआइ नामु हरि जपना ॥
O my mind, night and day,meditate, and chant the Lord's Name.
ਜਹਾ ਕਹਾ ਤੁਝੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂ ਅਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jehaa Kehaa Thujh Raakhai Sabh Thaaee So Aisaa Prabh Saev Sadhaa Thoo Apanaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
जहा कहा तुझु राखै सभ ठाई सो ऐसा प्रभु सेवि सदा तू अपना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Here and hereafter, He shall protect you, everywhere; serve such a God forever. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨਾ ॥
Jaa Mehi Sabh Nidhhaan So Har Jap Man Maerae Guramukh Khoj Lehahu Har Rathanaa ||
जा महि सभि निधान सो हरि जपि मन मेरे गुरमुखि खोजि लहहु हरि रतना ॥
Meditate on the Lord, who contains all treasures, O my mind; as Gurmukh, search for the jewel, the Lord.
ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਮਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਸਨਾ ॥੨॥
Jin Har Dhhiaaeiaa Thin Har Paaeiaa Maeraa Suaamee Thin Kae Charan Malahu Har Dhasanaa ||2||
जिन हरि धिआइआ तिन हरि पाइआ मेरा सुआमी तिन के चरण मलहु हरि दसना ॥२॥
Those who meditate on the Lord, find the Lord, my Lord and Master; I wash the feet of those slaves of the Lord. ||2||
ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਓਹੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਸੰਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਬਡ ਬਡਨਾ ॥
Sabadh Pashhaan Raam Ras Paavahu Ouhu Ootham Santh Bhaeiou Badd Baddanaa ||
सबदु पछाणि राम रसु पावहु ओहु ऊतमु संतु भइओ बड बडना ॥
One who realizes the Word of the Shabad, obtains the sublime essence of the Lord; such a Saint is lofty and sublime, the greatest of the great.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਧਾਈ ਓਹੁ ਘਟੈ ਨ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੀ ਘਟਾਈ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਤਿਲਨਾ ॥੩॥
This Jan Kee Vaddiaaee Har Aap Vadhhaaee Ouhu Ghattai N Kisai Kee Ghattaaee Eik Thil Thil Thilanaa ||3||
तिसु जन की वडिआई हरि आपि वधाई ओहु घटै न किसै की घटाई इकु तिलु तिलु तिलना ॥३॥
The Lord Himself magnifies the glory of that humble servant. No one can lessen or decrease that glory, not even a bit. ||3||
