है हजूरि कत दूरि बतावहु ॥
God is present, right here at hand; why do you say that He is far away?

Tie up your disturbing passions, and find the Beauteous Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਜੀ ਸੋ ਜੁ ਕਾਇਆ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥
Kaajee So J Kaaeiaa Beechaarai ||
काजी सो जु काइआ बीचारै ॥
He alone is a Qazi, who contemplates the human body,
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੀ ਅਗਨਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਰਜਾਰੈ ॥
Kaaeiaa Kee Agan Breham Parajaarai ||
काइआ की अगनि ब्रहमु परजारै ॥
And through the fire of the body, is illumined by God.
ਸੁਪਨੈ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨ ਦੇਈ ਝਰਨਾ ॥
Supanai Bindh N Dhaeee Jharanaa ||
सुपनै बिंदु न देई झरना ॥
He does not lose his semen, even in his dreams;
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਜੀ ਕਉ ਜਰਾ ਨ ਮਰਨਾ ॥੨॥
This Kaajee Ko Jaraa N Maranaa ||2||
तिसु काजी कउ जरा न मरना ॥२॥
For such a Qazi, there is no old age or death. ||2||
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਜੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਰ ਤਾਨੈ ॥
So Surathaan J Dhue Sar Thaanai ||
सो सुरतानु जु दुइ सर तानै ॥
He alone is a sultan and a king, who shoots the two arrows,
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਆਨੈ ॥
Baahar Jaathaa Bheethar Aanai ||
बाहरि जाता भीतरि आनै ॥
Gathers in his outgoing mind,
ਗਗਨ ਮੰਡਲ ਮਹਿ ਲਸਕਰੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
Gagan Manddal Mehi Lasakar Karai ||
गगन मंडल महि लसकरु करै ॥
And assembles his army in the realm of the mind's sky, the Tenth Gate.
ਸੋ ਸੁਰਤਾਨੁ ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰੈ ॥੩॥
So Surathaan Shhathra Sir Dhharai ||3||
सो सुरतानु छत्रु सिरि धरै ॥३॥
The canopy of royalty waves over such a sultan. ||3||
ਜੋਗੀ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਕਰੈ ॥
Jogee Gorakh Gorakh Karai ||
जोगी गोरखु गोरखु करै ॥
The Yogi cries out, ""Gorakh, Gorakh"".
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
Hindhoo Raam Naam Oucharai ||
हिंदू राम नामु उचरै ॥
The Hindu utters the Name of Raam.
ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕਾ ਏਕੁ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥
Musalamaan Kaa Eaek Khudhaae ||
मुसलमान का एकु खुदाइ ॥
The Muslim has only One God.
ਕਬੀਰ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੧॥

Those who call a stone their god
ਤਾ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੇਵ ॥
Thaa Kee Birathhaa Hovai Saev ||
ता की बिरथा होवै सेव ॥
Their service is useless.
ਜੋ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀ ਪਾਂਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Jo Paathhar Kee Paanee Paae ||
जो पाथर की पांई पाइ ॥
Those who fall at the feet of a stone god
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਘਾਲ ਅਜਾਂਈ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
This Kee Ghaal Ajaanee Jaae ||1||
तिस की घाल अजांई जाइ ॥१॥
- their work is wasted in vain. ||1||
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਹਮਰਾ ਸਦ ਬੋਲੰਤਾ ॥
Thaakur Hamaraa Sadh Bolanthaa ||
ठाकुरु हमरा सद बोलंता ॥
My Lord and Master speaks forever.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sarab Jeeaa Ko Prabh Dhaan Dhaethaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
सरब जीआ कउ प्रभु दानु देता ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
God gives His gifts to all living beings. ||1||Pause||
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੇਉ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਅੰਧੁ ॥
Anthar Dhaeo N Jaanai Andhh ||
अंतरि देउ न जानै अंधु ॥
The Divine Lord is within the self, but the spiritually blind one does not know this.
ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਾ ਮੋਹਿਆ ਪਾਵੈ ਫੰਧੁ ॥
Bhram Kaa Mohiaa Paavai Fandhh ||
भ्रम का मोहिआ पावै फंधु ॥
Deluded by doubt, he is caught in the noose.
ਨ ਪਾਥਰੁ ਬੋਲੈ ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੇਇ ॥
N Paathhar Bolai Naa Kishh Dhaee ||
न पाथरु बोलै ना किछु देइ ॥
The stone does not speak; it does not give anything to anyone.
ਫੋਕਟ ਕਰਮ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਹੈ ਸੇਵ ॥੨॥
Fokatt Karam Nihafal Hai Saev ||2||
फोकट करम निहफल है सेव ॥२॥
Such religious rituals are useless; such service is fruitless. ||2||
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਚੜਾਵੈ ॥
Jae Mirathak Ko Chandhan Charraavai ||
जे मिरतक कउ चंदनु चड़ावै ॥
If a corpse is anointed with sandalwood oil,
ਉਸ ਤੇ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਵਨ ਫਲ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Ous Thae Kehahu Kavan Fal Paavai ||
उस ते कहहु कवन फल पावै ॥
What good does it do?
ਜੇ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਉ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਰੁਲਾਈ ॥
Jae Mirathak Ko Bisattaa Maahi Rulaaee ||
जे मिरतक कउ बिसटा माहि रुलाई ॥
If a corpse is rolled in manure,
ਤਾਂ ਮਿਰਤਕ ਕਾ ਕਿਆ ਘਟਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
Thaan Mirathak Kaa Kiaa Ghatt Jaaee ||3||
तां मिरतक का किआ घटि जाई ॥३॥
What does it lose from this? ||3||
ਕਹਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਉ ਕਹਉ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥
Kehath Kabeer Ho Keho Pukaar ||
कहत कबीर हउ कहउ पुकारि ॥
Says Kabeer, I proclaim this out loud
ਸਮਝਿ ਦੇਖੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਗਾਵਾਰ ॥
Samajh Dhaekh Saakath Gaavaar ||
समझि देखु साकत गावार ॥
Behold, and understand, you ignorant, faithless cynic.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਘਰ ਗਾਲੇ ॥
Dhoojai Bhaae Bahuth Ghar Gaalae ||
दूजै भाइ बहुतु घर गाले ॥
The love of duality has ruined countless homes.
ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੨॥
Raam Bhagath Hai Sadhaa Sukhaalae ||4||4||12||
राम भगत है सदा सुखाले ॥४॥४॥१२॥
The Lord's devotees are forever in bliss. ||4||4||12||
ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਮੀਨ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੇਧੇ ॥
Jal Mehi Meen Maaeiaa Kae Baedhhae ||
जल महि मीन माइआ के बेधे ॥
The fish in the water is attached to Maya.
ਦੀਪਕ ਪਤੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਛੇਦੇ ॥
Dheepak Pathang Maaeiaa Kae Shhaedhae ||
दीपक पतंग माइआ के छेदे ॥
The moth fluttering around the lamp is pierced through by Maya.
ਕਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੁੰਚਰ ਕਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥
Kaam Maaeiaa Kunchar Ko Biaapai ||
काम माइआ कुंचर कउ बिआपै ॥
The sexual desire of Maya afflicts the elephant.
ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਭ੍ਰਿੰਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖਾਪੇ ॥੧॥
Bhueiangam Bhring Maaeiaa Mehi Khaapae ||1||
भुइअंगम भ्रिंग माइआ महि खापे ॥१॥
The snakes and bumble bees are destroyed through Maya. ||1||
ਮਾਇਆ ਐਸੀ ਮੋਹਨੀ ਭਾਈ ॥
Maaeiaa Aisee Mohanee Bhaaee ||
माइआ ऐसी मोहनी भाई ॥
Such are the enticements of Maya, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਡਹਕਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jaethae Jeea Thaethae Ddehakaaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
जेते जीअ तेते डहकाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
As many living beings are there are, have been deceived. ||1||Pause||
ਪੰਖੀ ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥
Pankhee Mrig Maaeiaa Mehi Raathae ||
पंखी म्रिग माइआ महि राते ॥
The birds and the deer are imbued with Maya.
ਸਾਕਰ ਮਾਖੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਸੰਤਾਪੇ ॥
Saakar Maakhee Adhhik Santhaapae ||
साकर माखी अधिक संतापे ॥
Sugar is a deadly trap for the flies.
ਤੁਰੇ ਉਸਟ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਭੇਲਾ ॥
Thurae Ousatt Maaeiaa Mehi Bhaelaa ||
तुरे उसट माइआ महि भेला ॥
Horses and camels are absorbed in Maya.
ਸਿਧ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਖੇਲਾ ॥੨॥
Sidhh Chouraaseeh Maaeiaa Mehi Khaelaa ||2||
सिध चउरासीह माइआ महि खेला ॥२॥
The eighty-four Siddhas, the beings of miraculous spiritual powers, play in Maya. ||2||
ਛਿਅ ਜਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ॥
Shhia Jathee Maaeiaa Kae Bandhaa ||
छिअ जती माइआ के बंदा ॥
The six celibates are slaves of Maya.
ਨਵੈ ਨਾਥ ਸੂਰਜ ਅਰੁ ਚੰਦਾ ॥
Navai Naathh Sooraj Ar Chandhaa ||
नवै नाथ सूरज अरु चंदा ॥
So are the nine masters of Yoga, and the sun and the moon.
ਤਪੇ ਰਖੀਸਰ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਤਾ ॥
Thapae Rakheesar Maaeiaa Mehi Soothaa ||
तपे रखीसर माइआ महि सूता ॥
The austere disciplinarians and the Rishis are asleep in Maya.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਅਰੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤਾ ॥੩॥
Maaeiaa Mehi Kaal Ar Panch Dhoothaa ||3||
माइआ महि कालु अरु पंच दूता ॥३॥
Death and the five demons are in Maya. ||3||
ਸੁਆਨ ਸਿਆਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Suaan Siaal Maaeiaa Mehi Raathaa ||
सुआन सिआल माइआ महि राता ॥
Dogs and jackals are imbued with Maya.
ਬੰਤਰ ਚੀਤੇ ਅਰੁ ਸਿੰਘਾਤਾ ॥
Banthar Cheethae Ar Singhaathaa ||
बंतर चीते अरु सिंघाता ॥
Monkeys, leopards and lions,
ਮਾਂਜਾਰ ਗਾਡਰ ਅਰੁ ਲੂਬਰਾ ॥
Maanjaar Gaaddar Ar Loobaraa ||
मांजार गाडर अरु लूबरा ॥
Cats, sheep, foxes,
ਬਿਰਖ ਮੂਲ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਾ ॥੪॥
Birakh Mool Maaeiaa Mehi Paraa ||4||
बिरख मूल माइआ महि परा ॥४॥
Trees and roots are planted in Maya. ||4||
ਮਾਇਆ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭੀਨੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
Maaeiaa Anthar Bheenae Dhaev ||
माइआ अंतरि भीने देव ॥
Even the gods are drenched with Maya,
ਸਾਗਰ ਇੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਅਰੁ ਧਰਤੇਵ ॥
Saagar Eindhraa Ar Dhharathaev ||
सागर इंद्रा अरु धरतेव ॥
As are the oceans, the sky and the earth.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਜਿਸੁ ਉਦਰੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Kehi Kabeer Jis Oudhar This Maaeiaa ||
कहि कबीर जिसु उदरु तिसु माइआ ॥
Says Kabeer, whoever has a belly to fill, is under the spell of Maya.
ਤਬ ਛੂਟੇ ਜਬ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥੫॥੧੩॥
Thab Shhoottae Jab Saadhhoo Paaeiaa ||5||5||13||
तब छूटे जब साधू पाइआ ॥५॥५॥१३॥
The mortal is emancipated only when he meets the Holy Saint. ||5||5||13||
ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਰੈ ॥
Jab Lag Maeree Maeree Karai ||
जब लगु मेरी मेरी करै ॥
As long as he cries out, Mine! Mine!,
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਕਾਜੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਹੀ ਸਰੈ ॥
Thab Lag Kaaj Eaek Nehee Sarai ||
तब लगु काजु एकु नही सरै ॥
None of his tasks is accomplished.
ਜਬ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
