One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਸਗਲੀ ਥੀਤਿ ਪਾਸਿ ਡਾਰਿ ਰਾਖੀ ॥
Sagalee Thheeth Paas Ddaar Raakhee ||
सगली थीति पासि डारि राखी ॥
Setting aside all other days,
ਅਸਟਮ ਥੀਤਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਜਨਮਾ ਸੀ ॥੧॥
Asattam Thheeth Govindh Janamaa See ||1||
असटम थीति गोविंद जनमा सी ॥१॥
It is said that the Lord was born on the eighth lunar day. ||1||
ਭਰਮਿ ਭੂਲੇ ਨਰ ਕਰਤ ਕਚਰਾਇਣ ॥
Bharam Bhoolae Nar Karath Kacharaaein ||
भरमि भूले नर करत कचराइण ॥
Deluded and confused by doubt, the mortal practices falsehood.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਨਾਰਾਇਣ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Janam Maran Thae Rehath Naaraaein ||1|| Rehaao ||
जनम मरण ते रहत नाराइण ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The Lord is beyond birth and death. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਪੰਜੀਰੁ ਖਵਾਇਓ ਚੋਰ ॥
Kar Panjeer Khavaaeiou Chor ||
करि पंजीरु खवाइओ चोर ॥
You prepare sweet treats and feed them to your stone god.
ਓਹੁ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਰੇ ਸਾਕਤ ਢੋਰ ॥੨॥
Ouhu Janam N Marai Rae Saakath Dtor ||2||
ओहु जनमि न मरै रे साकत ढोर ॥२॥
God is not born, and He does not die, you foolish, faithless cynic! ||2||
ਸਗਲ ਪਰਾਧ ਦੇਹਿ ਲੋਰੋਨੀ ॥
Sagal Paraadhh Dhaehi Loronee ||
सगल पराध देहि लोरोनी ॥
You sing lullabyes to your stone god - this is the source of all your mistakes.
ਸੋ ਮੁਖੁ ਜਲਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਕਹਹਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜੋਨੀ ॥੩॥
So Mukh Jalo Jith Kehehi Thaakur Jonee ||3||
सो मुखु जलउ जितु कहहि ठाकुरु जोनी ॥३॥
Let that mouth be burnt, which says that our Lord and Master is subject to birth. ||3||
ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Janam N Marai N Aavai N Jaae ||
जनमि न मरै न आवै न जाइ ॥
He is not born, and He does not die; He does not come and go in reincarnation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੧॥

नानक का प्रभु रहिओ समाइ ॥४॥१॥
The God of Nanak is pervading and permeating everywhere. ||4||1||

ਊਠਤ ਸੁਖੀਆ ਬੈਠਤ ਸੁਖੀਆ ॥
Oothath Sukheeaa Baithath Sukheeaa ||
ऊठत सुखीआ बैठत सुखीआ ॥
Standing up, I am at peace; sitting down, I am at peace.
ਭਉ ਨਹੀ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਾਂ ਐਸੇ ਬੁਝੀਆ ॥੧॥
Bho Nehee Laagai Jaan Aisae Bujheeaa ||1||
भउ नही लागै जां ऐसे बुझीआ ॥१॥
I feel no fear, because this is what I understand. ||1||
ਰਾਖਾ ਏਕੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
Raakhaa Eaek Hamaaraa Suaamee ||
राखा एकु हमारा सुआमी ॥
The One Lord, my Lord and Master, is my Protector.
ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Sagal Ghattaa Kaa Antharajaamee ||1|| Rehaao ||
सगल घटा का अंतरजामी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of Hearts. ||1||Pause||
ਸੋਇ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ਜਾਗਿ ਅਚਿੰਤਾ ॥
Soe Achinthaa Jaag Achinthaa ||
सोइ अचिंता जागि अचिंता ॥
I sleep without worry, and I awake without worry.
ਜਹਾ ਕਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੂੰ ਵਰਤੰਤਾ ॥੨॥
Jehaa Kehaan Prabh Thoon Varathanthaa ||2||
जहा कहां प्रभु तूं वरतंता ॥२॥
You, O God, are pervading everywhere. ||2||
ਘਰਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Ghar Sukh Vasiaa Baahar Sukh Paaeiaa ||
घरि सुखि वसिआ बाहरि सुखु पाइआ ॥
I dwell in peace in my home, and I am at peace outside.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ॥੩॥੨॥
Kahu Naanak Gur Manthra Dhrirraaeiaa ||3||2||
कहु नानक गुरि मंत्रु द्रिड़ाइआ ॥३॥२॥
Says Nanak, the Guru has implanted His Mantra within me. ||3||2||

ਵਰਤ ਨ ਰਹਉ ਨ ਮਹ ਰਮਦਾਨਾ ॥
Varath N Reho N Meh Ramadhaanaa ||
वरत न रहउ न मह रमदाना ॥
I do not keep fasts, nor do I observe the month of Ramadaan.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵੀ ਜੋ ਰਖੈ ਨਿਦਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
This Saevee Jo Rakhai Nidhaanaa ||1||
तिसु सेवी जो रखै निदाना ॥१॥
I serve only the One, who will protect me in the end. ||1||
ਏਕੁ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਅਲਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
Eaek Gusaaee Alahu Maeraa ||
एकु गुसाई अलहु मेरा ॥
The One Lord, the Lord of the World, is my God Allah.
ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤੁਰਕ ਦੁਹਾਂ ਨੇਬੇਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Hindhoo Thurak Dhuhaan Naebaeraa ||1|| Rehaao ||
हिंदू तुरक दुहां नेबेरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He adminsters justice to both Hindus and Muslims. ||1||Pause||
ਹਜ ਕਾਬੈ ਜਾਉ ਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
Haj Kaabai Jaao N Theerathh Poojaa ||
हज काबै जाउ न तीरथ पूजा ॥
I do not make pilgrimages to Mecca, nor do I worship at Hindu sacred shrines.
ਏਕੋ ਸੇਵੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨॥
Eaeko Saevee Avar N Dhoojaa ||2||
एको सेवी अवरु न दूजा ॥२॥
I serve the One Lord, and not any other. ||2||
ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰਉ ਨ ਨਿਵਾਜ ਗੁਜਾਰਉ ॥
Poojaa Karo N Nivaaj Gujaaro ||
पूजा करउ न निवाज गुजारउ ॥
I do not perform Hindu worship services, nor do I offer the Muslim prayers.
ਏਕ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਲੇ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਉ ॥੩॥
Eaek Nirankaar Lae Ridhai Namasakaaro ||3||
एक निरंकार ले रिदै नमसकारउ ॥३॥
I have taken the One Formless Lord into my heart; I humbly worship Him there. ||3||
ਨਾ ਹਮ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਨ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ॥
Naa Ham Hindhoo N Musalamaan ||
ना हम हिंदू न मुसलमान ॥
I am not a Hindu, nor am I a Muslim.
ਅਲਹ ਰਾਮ ਕੇ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਪਰਾਨ ॥੪॥
Aleh Raam Kae Pindd Paraan ||4||
अलह राम के पिंडु परान ॥४॥
My body and breath of life belong to Allah - to Raam - the God of both. ||4||
ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਆ ਵਖਾਨਾ ॥
Kahu Kabeer Eihu Keeaa Vakhaanaa ||
कहु कबीर इहु कीआ वखाना ॥
Says Kabeer, this is what I say:
ਗੁਰ ਪੀਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਖੁਦਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਾ ॥੫॥੩॥
Gur Peer Mil Khudh Khasam Pashhaanaa ||5||3||
गुर पीर मिलि खुदि खसमु पछाना ॥५॥३॥
Meeting with the Guru, my Spiritual Teacher, I realize God, my Lord and Master. ||5||3||

ਦਸ ਮਿਰਗੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਬੰਧਿ ਆਨੀ ॥
Dhas Miragee Sehajae Bandhh Aanee ||
दस मिरगी सहजे बंधि आनी ॥
I easily tied up the deer - the ten sensory organs.
ਪਾਂਚ ਮਿਰਗ ਬੇਧੇ ਸਿਵ ਕੀ ਬਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
Paanch Mirag Baedhhae Siv Kee Baanee ||1||
पांच मिरग बेधे सिव की बानी ॥१॥
I shot five of the desires with the Word of the Lord's Bani. ||1||
ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਲੇ ਚੜਿਓ ਸਿਕਾਰ ॥
Santhasang Lae Charriou Sikaar ||
संतसंगि ले चड़िओ सिकार ॥
I go out hunting with the Saints,
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਪਕਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਹਥੀਆਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Mrig Pakarae Bin Ghor Hathheeaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
म्रिग पकरे बिनु घोर हथीआर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
And we capture the deer without horses or weapons. ||1||Pause||
ਆਖੇਰ ਬਿਰਤਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਆਇਓ ਧਾਇ ॥
Aakhaer Birath Baahar Aaeiou Dhhaae ||
आखेर बिरति बाहरि आइओ धाइ ॥
My mind used to run around outside hunting.
ਅਹੇਰਾ ਪਾਇਓ ਘਰ ਕੈ ਗਾਂਇ ॥੨॥
Ahaeraa Paaeiou Ghar Kai Gaane ||2||
अहेरा पाइओ घर कै गांइ ॥२॥
But now, I have found the game within the home of my body-village. ||2||
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਪਕਰੇ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੇ ਹਾਟਿ ॥
Mrig Pakarae Ghar Aanae Haatt ||
म्रिग पकरे घरि आणे हाटि ॥
I caught the deer and brought them home.
ਚੁਖ ਚੁਖ ਲੇ ਗਏ ਬਾਂਢੇ ਬਾਟਿ ॥੩॥
Chukh Chukh Lae Geae Baandtae Baatt ||3||
चुख चुख ले गए बांढे बाटि ॥३॥
Dividing them up, I shared them, bit by bit. ||3||
ਏਹੁ ਅਹੇਰਾ ਕੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Eaehu Ahaeraa Keeno Dhaan ||
एहु अहेरा कीनो दानु ॥
God has given this gift.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੪॥
Naanak Kai Ghar Kaeval Naam ||4||4||
नानक कै घरि केवल नामु ॥४॥४॥
Nanak's home is filled with the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||4||

ਜੇ ਸਉ ਲੋਚਿ ਲੋਚਿ ਖਾਵਾਇਆ ॥
Jae So Loch Loch Khaavaaeiaa ||
जे सउ लोचि लोचि खावाइआ ॥
Even though he may be fed with hundreds of longings and yearnings,
ਸਾਕਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਚੀਤਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
Saakath Har Har Cheeth N Aaeiaa ||1||
साकत हरि हरि चीति न आइआ ॥१॥
Still the faithless cynic does not remember the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਲੇਹੁ ਮਤੇ ॥
Santh Janaa Kee Laehu Mathae ||
संत जना की लेहु मते ॥
Take in the teachings of the humble Saints.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਪਰਮ ਗਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Saadhhasang Paavahu Param Gathae ||1|| Rehaao ||
साधसंगि पावहु परम गते ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall obtain the supreme status. ||1||Pause||
ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਪਵਾਇਆ ॥
Paathhar Ko Bahu Neer Pavaaeiaa ||
पाथर कउ बहु नीरु पवाइआ ॥
Stones may be kept under water for a long time.
ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਨੀਰੁ ਪਵਾਇਆ ॥
