The whiner whines every day.
ਬਲਨ ਬਰਤਨ ਕਉ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਇਆ ॥
Balan Barathan Ko Sanabandhh Chith Aaeiaa ||
बलन बरतन कउ सनबंधु चिति आइआ ॥
His attachment to his household and entanglements cloud his mind.
ਬੂਝਿ ਬੈਰਾਗੁ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਕੋਇ ॥
Boojh Bairaag Karae Jae Koe ||
बूझि बैरागु करे जे कोइ ॥
If someone becomes detached through understanding,
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੋਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
Janam Maran Fir Sog N Hoe ||1||
जनम मरण फिरि सोगु न होइ ॥१॥
He will not have to suffer in birth and death again. ||1||
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਧੰਧੁ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥
Bikhiaa Kaa Sabh Dhhandhh Pasaar ||
बिखिआ का सभु धंधु पसारु ॥
All of his conflicts are extensions of his corruption.

त्रिबिधि माइआ रही बिआपि ॥
The three-phased Maya infects all.
ਜੋ ਲਪਟਾਨੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
Jo Lapattaano This Dhookh Santhaap ||
जो लपटानो तिसु दूख संताप ॥
Whoever clings to it suffers pain and sorrow.
ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਏ ॥
Sukh Naahee Bin Naam Dhhiaaeae ||
सुखु नाही बिनु नाम धिआए ॥
There is no peace without meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਏ ॥੨॥
Naam Nidhhaan Baddabhaagee Paaeae ||2||
नाम निधानु बडभागी पाए ॥२॥
By great good fortune, the treasure of the Naam is received. ||2||
ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗੀ ਸਿਉ ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਰੀਝਾਵੈ ॥
Svaangee Sio Jo Man Reejhaavai ||
स्वांगी सिउ जो मनु रीझावै ॥
One who loves the actor in his mind,
ਸ੍ਵਾਗਿ ਉਤਾਰਿਐ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੈ ॥
Svaag Outhaariai Fir Pashhuthaavai ||
स्वागि उतारिऐ फिरि पछुतावै ॥
Later regrets it when the actor takes off his costume.
ਮੇਘ ਕੀ ਛਾਇਆ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਰਤਨਹਾਰ ॥
Maegh Kee Shhaaeiaa Jaisae Barathanehaar ||
मेघ की छाइआ जैसे बरतनहार ॥
The shade from a cloud is transitory,
ਤੈਸੋ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ॥੩॥
Thaiso Parapanch Moh Bikaar ||3||
तैसो परपंचु मोह बिकार ॥३॥
Like the worldly paraphernalia of attachment and corruption. ||3||
ਏਕ ਵਸਤੁ ਜੇ ਪਾਵੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Eaek Vasath Jae Paavai Koe ||
एक वसतु जे पावै कोइ ॥
If someone is blessed with the singular substance,
ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਜੁ ਤਾਹੀ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Pooran Kaaj Thaahee Kaa Hoe ||
पूरन काजु ताही का होइ ॥
Then all of his tasks are accomplished to perfection.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

Slandering the Saints, he is diseased.

Slandering the Saints, he suffers in pain.

The slanderer is punished by the Messenger of Death. ||1||

Those who argue and fight with the Saints

भगत की निंदा कंधु छेदावै ॥
Slandering the devotees, the wall of the mortal's body is shattered.
ਭਗਤ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਨਰਕੁ ਭੁੰਚਾਵੈ ॥

भगत की निंदा नरकु भुंचावै ॥
Slandering the devotees, he suffers in hell.
ਭਗਤ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਗਰਭ ਮਹਿ ਗਲੈ ॥

भगत की निंदा गरभ महि गलै ॥
Slandering the devotees, he rots in the womb.

भगत की निंदा राज ते टलै ॥२॥
Slandering the devotees, he loses his realm and power. ||2||
ਨਿੰਦਕ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਤਹੂ ਨਾਹਿ ॥
Nindhak Kee Gath Kathehoo Naahi ||
निंदक की गति कतहू नाहि ॥
The slanderer finds no salvation at all.
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥
Aap Beej Aapae Hee Khaahi ||
आपि बीजि आपे ही खाहि ॥
He eats only that which he himself has planted.
ਚੋਰ ਜਾਰ ਜੂਆਰ ਤੇ ਬੁਰਾ ॥
Chor Jaar Jooaar Thae Buraa ||
चोर जार जूआर ते बुरा ॥
He is worse than a thief, a lecher, or a gambler.
ਅਣਹੋਦਾ ਭਾਰੁ ਨਿੰਦਕਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧਰਾ ॥੩॥
Anehodhaa Bhaar Nindhak Sir Dhharaa ||3||
अणहोदा भारु निंदकि सिरि धरा ॥३॥
The slanderer places an unbearable burden upon his head. ||3||
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਨਿਰਵੈਰ ॥
Paarabreham Kae Bhagath Niravair ||
पारब्रहम के भगत निरवैर ॥
The devotees of the Supreme Lord God are beyond hate and vengeance.
ਸੋ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ਜੋ ਪੂਜੈ ਪੈਰ ॥
So Nisatharai Jo Poojai Pair ||
सो निसतरै जो पूजै पैर ॥
Whoever worships their feet is emancipated.
ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖਿ ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਭੋਲਾਇਆ ॥
Aadh Purakh Nindhak Bholaaeiaa ||
आदि पुरखि निंदकु भोलाइआ ॥
The Primal Lord God has deluded and confused the slanderer.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਿਰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੩੪॥

नामु हमारै पूरे काज ॥
Through the Naam, my tasks are perfectly accomplished.

The Naam is my worship of deities.

The Naam is my service to the Guru. ||1||
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Gur Poorai Dhrirriou Har Naam ||
गुरि पूरै द्रिड़िओ हरि नामु ॥
The Perfect Guru has implanted the Naam within me.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

नामु हमारै मजन इसनानु ॥
The Naam is my cleansing bath and purification.

Naam Hamaarai Pooran Dhaan ||
नामु हमारै पूरन दानु ॥
The Naam is my perfect donation of charity.
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਤੇ ਸਗਲ ਪਵੀਤ ॥
Naam Laith Thae Sagal Paveeth ||
नामु लैत ते सगल पवीत ॥
Those who repeat the Naam are totally purified.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਮੀਤ ॥੨॥
Naam Japath Maerae Bhaaee Meeth ||2||
नामु जपत मेरे भाई मीत ॥२॥
Those who chant the Naam are my friends and Siblings of Destiny. ||2||

The Naam is my auspicious omen and good fortune.

नामु हमारै त्रिपति सुभोग ॥
The Naam is the sublime food which satisfies me.

नामु हमारै सगल आचार ॥
The Naam is my good conduct.
ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥੩॥

नामु हमारै निरमल बिउहार ॥३॥
The Naam is my immaculate occupation. ||3||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ॥
Jaa Kai Man Vasiaa Prabh Eaek ||
जा कै मनि वसिआ प्रभु एकु ॥
All those humble beings whose minds are filled with the One God
ਸਗਲ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਟੇਕ ॥
Sagal Janaa Kee Har Har Ttaek ||
सगल जना की हरि हरि टेक ॥
Have the Support of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
Man Than Naanak Har Gun Gaao ||
मनि तनि नानक हरि गुण गाउ ॥
O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord with your mind and body.
