मूल बिना साखा कत आहै ॥१॥
But without roots, how can there be any branches? ||1||

गुरु गोविंदु मेरे मन धिआइ ॥
O my mind, meditate on the Guru, the Lord of the Universe.
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰੈ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Janam Janam Kee Mail Outhaarai Bandhhan Kaatt Har Sang Milaae ||1|| Rehaao ||
जनम जनम की मैलु उतारै बंधन काटि हरि संगि मिलाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The filth of countless incarnations shall be washed away. Breaking your bonds, you shall be united with the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਇ ਕਹਾ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੈਲੁ ॥

तीरथि नाइ कहा सुचि सैलु ॥
How can a stone be purified by bathing at a sacred shrine of pilgrimage?
ਮਨ ਕਉ ਵਿਆਪੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
Man Ko Viaapai Houmai Mail ||
मन कउ विआपै हउमै मैलु ॥
The filth of egotism clings to the mind.
ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਮ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾ ਮੂਲੁ ॥
Kott Karam Bandhhan Kaa Mool ||
कोटि करम बंधन का मूलु ॥
Millions of rituals and actions taken are the root of entanglements.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਪੂਲੁ ॥੨॥
Har Kae Bhajan Bin Birathhaa Pool ||2||
हरि के भजन बिनु बिरथा पूलु ॥२॥
Without meditating and vibrating on the Lord, the mortal gathers only worthless bundles of straw. ||2||
ਬਿਨੁ ਖਾਏ ਬੂਝੈ ਨਹੀ ਭੂਖ ॥
Bin Khaaeae Boojhai Nehee Bhookh ||
बिनु खाए बूझै नही भूख ॥
Without eating, hunger is not satisfied.
ਰੋਗੁ ਜਾਇ ਤਾਂ ਉਤਰਹਿ ਦੂਖ ॥
Rog Jaae Thaan Outharehi Dhookh ||
रोगु जाइ तां उतरहि दूख ॥
When the disease is cured, then the pain goes away.
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹਿ ਬਿਆਪਿਆ ॥
Kaam Krodhh Lobh Mohi Biaapiaa ||
काम क्रोध लोभ मोहि बिआपिआ ॥
The mortal is engrossed in sexual desire, anger, greed and attachment.
ਜਿਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕੀਨਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਪਿਆ ॥੩॥
Jin Prabh Keenaa So Prabh Nehee Jaapiaa ||3||
जिनि प्रभि कीना सो प्रभु नही जापिआ ॥३॥
He does not meditate on God, that God who created him. ||3||
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਧੰਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
Dhhan Dhhan Saadhh Dhhann Har Naao ||
धनु धनु साध धंनु हरि नाउ ॥
Blessed, blessed is the Holy Saint, and blessed is the Name of the Lord.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
Aath Pehar Keerathan Gun Gaao ||
आठ पहर कीरतनु गुण गाउ ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Kirtan, the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
ਧਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਧਨੁ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰ ॥
Dhhan Har Bhagath Dhhan Karanaihaar ||
धनु हरि भगति धनु करणैहार ॥
Blessed is the devotee of the Lord, and blessed is the Creator Lord.

गुर सुप्रसंन होए भउ गए ॥
When the Guru was totally pleased, my fear was taken away.
ਨਾਮ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਲਏ ॥
Naam Niranjan Man Mehi Leae ||
नाम निरंजन मन महि लए ॥
I enshrine the Name of the Immaculate Lord within my mind.
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥
Dheen Dhaeiaal Sadhaa Kirapaal ||
दीन दइआल सदा किरपाल ॥
He is Merciful to the meek, forever Compassionate.
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਸਗਲੇ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥੧॥
Binas Geae Sagalae Janjaal ||1||
बिनसि गए सगले जंजाल ॥१॥
All my entanglements are finished. ||1||
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਘਨੇ ॥
Sookh Sehaj Aanandh Ghanae ||
सूख सहज आनंद घने ॥
I have found peace, poise, and myriads of pleasures.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਭੈ ਭਰਮਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਨ ਭਨੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

साधसंगि मिटे भै भरमा अम्रितु हरि हरि रसन भने ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, fear and doubt are dispelled. My tongue chants the Ambrosial Name of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੋ ਹੇਤੁ ॥

चरन कमल सिउ लागो हेतु ॥
I have fallen in love with the Lord's Lotus Feet.
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਮਹਾ ਪਰੇਤੁ ॥
Khin Mehi Binasiou Mehaa Paraeth ||
खिन महि बिनसिओ महा परेतु ॥
In an instant, the terrible demons are destroyed.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪਿ ॥
Aath Pehar Har Har Jap Jaap ||
आठ पहर हरि हरि जपु जापि ॥
Twenty-four hours a day, I meditate and chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਿ ॥੨॥

राखनहार गोविद गुर आपि ॥२॥
The Guru is Himself the Savior Lord, the Lord of the Universe. ||2||
ਅਪਨੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੈ ॥
Apanae Saevak Ko Sadhaa Prathipaarai ||
अपने सेवक कउ सदा प्रतिपारै ॥
He Himself cherishes His servant forever.
ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਸ ਨਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
Bhagath Janaa Kae Saas Nihaarai ||
भगत जना के सास निहारै ॥
He watches over every breath of His humble devotee.
ਮਾਨਸ ਕੀ ਕਹੁ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਾਤ ॥
Maanas Kee Kahu Kaethak Baath ||
मानस की कहु केतक बात ॥
Tell me, what is the nature of human beings?
ਜਮ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਥ ॥੩॥
Jam Thae Raakhai Dhae Kar Haathh ||3||
जम ते राखै दे करि हाथ ॥३॥
The Lord extends His Hand, and saves them from the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਰੀਤਿ ॥
Niramal Sobhaa Niramal Reeth ||
निरमल सोभा निरमल रीति ॥
Immaculate is the Glory, and Immaculate is the way of life,
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
Paarabreham Aaeiaa Man Cheeth ||
पारब्रहमु आइआ मनि चीति ॥
Of those who remember the Supreme Lord God in their minds.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Gur Dheeno Dhaan ||
करि किरपा गुरि दीनो दानु ॥
The Guru, in His Mercy, has granted this Gift.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੩੩॥੪੬॥

Nanak has obtained the treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||33||46||

My Guru is the All-powerful Lord, the Creator, the Cause of causes.
ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਨੇਰਾ ॥
Jeea Praan Sukhadhaathaa Naeraa ||
जीअ प्राण सुखदाता नेरा ॥
He is the Soul, the Breath of Life, the Giver of Peace, always near.
ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਇ ॥
Bhai Bhanjan Abinaasee Raae ||
भै भंजन अबिनासी राइ ॥
He is the Destroyer of fear, the Eternal, Unchanging, Sovereign Lord King.
ਦਰਸਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥
Dharasan Dhaekhiai Sabh Dhukh Jaae ||1||
दरसनि देखिऐ सभु दुखु जाइ ॥१॥
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, all fear is dispelled. ||1||
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੇਖਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
Jath Kath Paekho Thaeree Saranaa ||
जत कत पेखउ तेरी सरणा ॥
Wherever I look, is the Protection of Your Sanctuary.
ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bal Bal Jaaee Sathigur Charanaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
बलि बलि जाई सतिगुर चरणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Feet of the True Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
Pooran Kaam Milae Guradhaev ||
पूरन काम मिले गुरदेव ॥
My tasks are perfectly accomplished, meeting the Divine Guru.
ਸਭਿ ਫਲਦਾਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੇਵ ॥
Sabh Faladhaathaa Niramal Saev ||
सभि फलदाता निरमल सेव ॥
He is the Giver of all rewards. Serving Him, I am immaculate.
ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
Kar Gehi Leenae Apunae Dhaas ||
करु गहि लीने अपुने दास ॥
He reaches out with His Hand to His slaves.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦ ਦੀਓ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥੨॥
Raam Naam Ridh Dheeou Nivaas ||2||
राम नामु रिद दीओ निवास ॥२॥
The Name of the Lord abides in their hearts. ||2||
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
Sadhaa Anandh Naahee Kishh Sog ||
सदा अनंदु नाही किछु सोगु ॥
They are forever in bliss, and do not suffer at all.
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਨਹ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਰੋਗੁ ॥
Dhookh Dharadh Neh Biaapai Rog ||
दूखु दरदु नह बिआपै रोगु ॥
No pain, sorrow or disease afflicts them.
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਕਰਣੈਹਾਰੁ ॥
Sabh Kishh Thaeraa Thoo Karanaihaar ||
सभु किछु तेरा तू करणैहारु ॥
Everything is Yours, O Creator Lord.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗੁਰ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੩॥
Paarabreham Gur Agam Apaar ||3||
पारब्रहम गुर अगम अपार ॥३॥
The Guru is the Supreme Lord God, the Inaccessible and Infinite. ||3||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੋਭਾ ਅਚਰਜ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
Niramal Sobhaa Acharaj Baanee ||
निरमल सोभा अचरज बाणी ॥
His Glorious Grandeur is immaculate, and the Bani of His Word is wonderful!
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੀ ॥
Paarabreham Pooran Man Bhaanee ||
पारब्रहम पूरन मनि भाणी ॥
The Perfect Supreme Lord God is pleasing to my mind.
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥
Jal Thhal Meheeal Raviaa Soe ||
जलि थलि महीअलि रविआ सोइ ॥
He is permeating the waters, the lands and the skies.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੩੪॥੪੭॥
