Aapae Kis Hee Kas Bakhasae Aapae Dhae Lai Bhaaee Hae ||8||
आपे किस ही कसि बखसे आपे दे लै भाई हे ॥८॥
You Yourself test and forgive. You Yourself give and take, O Siblings of Destiny. ||8||
ਆਪੇ ਧਨਖੁ ਆਪੇ ਸਰਬਾਣਾ ॥
Aapae Dhhanakh Aapae Sarabaanaa ||
आपे धनखु आपे सरबाणा ॥
He Himself is the bow, and He Himself is the archer.
ਆਪੇ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਸਿਆਣਾ ॥
Aapae Sugharr Saroop Siaanaa ||
आपे सुघड़ु सरूपु सिआणा ॥
He Himself is all-wise, beautiful and all-knowing.
ਕਹਤਾ ਬਕਤਾ ਸੁਣਤਾ ਸੋਈ ਆਪੇ ਬਣਤ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Kehathaa Bakathaa Sunathaa Soee Aapae Banath Banaaee Hae ||9||
कहता बकता सुणता सोई आपे बणत बणाई हे ॥९॥
He is the speaker, the orator and the listener. He Himself made what is made. ||9||
ਪਉਣੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਿਤ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
Poun Guroo Paanee Pith Jaathaa ||
पउणु गुरू पाणी पित जाता ॥
Air is the Guru, and water is known to be the father.
ਉਦਰ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਮਾਤਾ ॥
Oudhar Sanjogee Dhharathee Maathaa ||
उदर संजोगी धरती माता ॥
The womb of the great mother earth gives birth to all.
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਦੁਇ ਦਾਈ ਦਾਇਆ ਜਗੁ ਖੇਲੈ ਖੇਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Rain Dhinas Dhue Dhaaee Dhaaeiaa Jag Khaelai Khaelaaee Hae ||10||
रैणि दिनसु दुइ दाई दाइआ जगु खेलै खेलाई हे ॥१०॥
Night and day are the two nurses, male and female; the world plays in this play. ||10||
ਆਪੇ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਲਾ ॥
Aapae Mashhulee Aapae Jaalaa ||
आपे मछुली आपे जाला ॥
You Yourself are the fish, and You Yourself are the net.
ਆਪੇ ਗਊ ਆਪੇ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥
Aapae Goo Aapae Rakhavaalaa ||
आपे गऊ आपे रखवाला ॥
You Yourself are the cows, and You yourself are their keeper.
ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆ ਜਗਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
Sarab Jeeaa Jag Joth Thumaaree Jaisee Prabh Furamaaee Hae ||11||
सरब जीआ जगि जोति तुमारी जैसी प्रभि फुरमाई हे ॥११॥
Your Light fills all the beings of the world; they walk according to Your Command, O God. ||11||
ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗੀ ॥
Aapae Jogee Aapae Bhogee ||
आपे जोगी आपे भोगी ॥
You Yourself are the Yogi, and You Yourself are the enjoyer.
ਆਪੇ ਰਸੀਆ ਪਰਮ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ॥
Aapae Raseeaa Param Sanjogee ||
आपे रसीआ परम संजोगी ॥
You Yourself are the reveller; You form the supreme Union.
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੀ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
Aapae Vaebaanee Nirankaaree Nirabho Thaarree Laaee Hae ||12||
आपे वेबाणी निरंकारी निरभउ ताड़ी लाई हे ॥१२॥
You Yourself are speechless, formless and fearless, absorbed in the primal ecstasy of deep meditation. ||12||
ਖਾਣੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥
Khaanee Baanee Thujhehi Samaanee ||
खाणी बाणी तुझहि समाणी ॥
The sources of creation and speech are contained within You, Lord.
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਭ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੀ ॥
Jo Dheesai Sabh Aavan Jaanee ||
जो दीसै सभ आवण जाणी ॥
All that is seen, is coming and going.
ਸੇਈ ਸਾਹ ਸਚੇ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
Saeee Saah Sachae Vaapaaree Sathigur Boojh Bujhaaee Hae ||13||
सेई साह सचे वापारी सतिगुरि बूझ बुझाई हे ॥१३॥
They are the true bankers and traders, whom the True Guru has inspired to understand. ||13||
ਸਬਦੁ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
Sabadh Bujhaaeae Sathigur Pooraa ||
सबदु बुझाए सतिगुरु पूरा ॥
The Word of the Shabad is understood through the Perfect True Guru.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਰਪੂਰਾ ॥
Sarab Kalaa Saachae Bharapooraa ||
सरब कला साचे भरपूरा ॥
The True Lord is overflowing with all powers.
ਅਫਰਿਓ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ਸਦਾ ਤੂ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
Afariou Vaeparavaahu Sadhaa Thoo Naa This Thil N Thamaaee Hae ||14||
अफरिओ वेपरवाहु सदा तू ना तिसु तिलु न तमाई हे ॥१४॥
You are beyond our grasp, and forever independent. You do not have even an iota of greed. ||14||
ਕਾਲੁ ਬਿਕਾਲੁ ਭਏ ਦੇਵਾਨੇ ॥

कालु बिकालु भए देवाने ॥
Birth and death are meaningless, for those
ਸਬਦੁ ਸਹਜ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਾਨੇ ॥
Sabadh Sehaj Ras Anthar Maanae ||
सबदु सहज रसु अंतरि माने ॥
Who enjoy the sublime celestial essence of the Shabad within their minds.
ਆਪੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਵਰਦਾਤਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
Aapae Mukath Thripath Varadhaathaa Bhagath Bhaae Man Bhaaee Hae ||15||
आपे मुकति त्रिपति वरदाता भगति भाइ मनि भाई हे ॥१५॥
He Himself is the Giver of liberation, satisfaction and blessings, to those devotees who love Him in their minds. ||15||
ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਗਮ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
Aap Niraalam Gur Gam Giaanaa ||
आपि निरालमु गुर गम गिआना ॥
He Himself is immaculate; by contact with the Guru, spiritual wisdom is obtained.
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਤੁਝ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥
Jo Dheesai Thujh Maahi Samaanaa ||
जो दीसै तुझ माहि समाना ॥
Whatever is seen, shall merge into You.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਦਰਿ ਜਾਚੈ ਮੈ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥
Naanak Neech Bhikhiaa Dhar Jaachai Mai Dheejai Naam Vaddaaee Hae ||16||1||
नानकु नीचु भिखिआ दरि जाचै मै दीजै नामु वडाई हे ॥१६॥१॥
Nanak, the lowly, begs for charity at Your Door; please, bless him with the glorious greatness of Your Name. ||16||1||

He Himself is the earth, the mythical bull which supports it and the Akaashic ethers.
ਆਪੇ ਸਾਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸੰ ॥
Aapae Saachae Gun Paragaasan ||
आपे साचे गुण परगासं ॥
The True Lord Himself reveals His Glorious Virtues.
ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Jathee Sathee Santhokhee Aapae Aapae Kaar Kamaaee Hae ||1||
जती सती संतोखी आपे आपे कार कमाई हे ॥१॥
He Himself is celibate, chaste and contented; He Himself is the Doer of deeds. ||1||
ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ॥
Jis Karanaa So Kar Kar Vaekhai ||
जिसु करणा सो करि करि वेखै ॥
He who created the creation, beholds what He has created.
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਲੇਖੈ ॥
Koe N Maettai Saachae Laekhai ||
कोइ न मेटै साचे लेखै ॥
No one can erase the Inscription of the True Lord.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Aapae Karae Karaaeae Aapae Aapae Dhae Vaddiaaee Hae ||2||
आपे करे कराए आपे आपे दे वडिआई हे ॥२॥
He Himself is the Doer, the Cause of causes; He Himself is the One who bestows glorious greatness. ||2||
ਪੰਚ ਚੋਰ ਚੰਚਲ ਚਿਤੁ ਚਾਲਹਿ ॥
Panch Chor Chanchal Chith Chaalehi ||
पंच चोर चंचल चितु चालहि ॥
The five thieves cause the fickle consciousness to waver.
ਪਰ ਘਰ ਜੋਹਹਿ ਘਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਲਹਿ ॥
Par Ghar Johehi Ghar Nehee Bhaalehi ||
पर घर जोहहि घरु नही भालहि ॥
It looks into the homes of others, but does not search its own home.
ਕਾਇਆ ਨਗਰੁ ਢਹੈ ਢਹਿ ਢੇਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਪਤਿ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Kaaeiaa Nagar Dtehai Dtehi Dtaeree Bin Sabadhai Path Jaaee Hae ||3||
काइआ नगरु ढहै ढहि ढेरी बिनु सबदै पति जाई हे ॥३॥
The body-village crumbles into dust; without the Word of the Shabad, one's honor is lost. ||3||
ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਬੂਝੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥
Gur Thae Boojhai Thribhavan Soojhai ||
गुर ते बूझै त्रिभवणु सूझै ॥
One who realizes the Lord through the Guru, comprehends the three worlds.
ਮਨਸਾ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਨੈ ਸਿਉ ਲੂਝੈ ॥
Manasaa Maar Manai Sio Loojhai ||
मनसा मारि मनै सिउ लूझै ॥
He subdues his desires, and struggles with his mind.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਤੁਧ ਹੀ ਜੇਹੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਬਾਲ ਸਖਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
Jo Thudhh Saevehi Sae Thudhh Hee Jaehae Nirabho Baal Sakhaaee Hae ||4||
जो तुधु सेवहि से तुध ही जेहे निरभउ बाल सखाई हे ॥४॥
Those who serve You, become just like You; O Fearless Lord, You are their best friend from infancy. ||4||
ਆਪੇ ਸੁਰਗੁ ਮਛੁ ਪਇਆਲਾ ॥
Aapae Surag Mashh Paeiaalaa ||
आपे सुरगु मछु पइआला ॥
You Yourself are the heavenly realms, this world and the nether regions of the underworld.
ਆਪੇ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਰੂਪੀ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
Aapae Joth Saroopee Baalaa ||
आपे जोति सरूपी बाला ॥
You Yourself are the embodiment of light, forever young.
ਜਟਾ ਬਿਕਟ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ਸਰੂਪੀ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਰੇਖਿਆ ਕਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
Jattaa Bikatt Bikaraal Saroopee Roop N Raekhiaa Kaaee Hae ||5||
जटा बिकट बिकराल सरूपी रूपु न रेखिआ काई हे ॥५॥
With matted hair, and a horrible, dreadful form, still, You have no form or feature. ||5||
ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬੀ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
Baedh Kathaebee Bhaedh N Jaathaa ||
बेद कतेबी भेदु न जाता ॥
The Vedas and the Bible do not know the mystery of God.
ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Naa This Maath Pithaa Suth Bhraathaa ||
ना तिसु मात पिता सुत भ्राता ॥
He has no mother, father, child or brother.
ਸਗਲੇ ਸੈਲ ਉਪਾਇ ਸਮਾਏ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਣਾ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Sagalae Sail Oupaae Samaaeae Alakh N Lakhanaa Jaaee Hae ||6||
सगले सैल उपाइ समाए अलखु न लखणा जाई हे ॥६॥
He created all the mountains, and levels them again; the Unseen Lord cannot be seen. ||6||
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਥਾਕੀ ਮੀਤ ਘਨੇਰੇ ॥
Kar Kar Thhaakee Meeth Ghanaerae ||
करि करि थाकी मीत घनेरे ॥
I have grown weary of making so many friends.
ਕੋਇ ਨ ਕਾਟੈ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
Koe N Kaattai Avagun Maerae ||
कोइ न काटै अवगुण मेरे ॥
No one can rid me of my sins and mistakes.
ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਨਾਥੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਸਿਰਿ ਭਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਭਉ ਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Sur Nar Naathh Saahib Sabhanaa Sir Bhaae Milai Bho Jaaee Hae ||7||
सुरि नर नाथु साहिबु सभना सिरि भाइ मिलै भउ जाई हे ॥७॥
God is the Supreme Lord and Master of all the angels and mortal beings; blessed with His Love, their fear is dispelled. ||7||
ਭੂਲੇ ਚੂਕੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥
Bhoolae Chookae Maarag Paavehi ||
भूले चूके मारगि पावहि ॥
He puts back on the Path those who have wandered and strayed.
ਆਪਿ ਭੁਲਾਇ ਤੂਹੈ ਸਮਝਾਵਹਿ ॥
Aap Bhulaae Thoohai Samajhaavehi ||
आपि भुलाइ तूहै समझावहि ॥
You Yourself make them stray, and You teach them again.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Bin Naavai Mai Avar N Dheesai Naavahu Gath Mith Paaee Hae ||8||
बिनु नावै मै अवरु न दीसै नावहु गति मिति पाई हे ॥८॥
I cannot see anything except the Name. Through the Name comes salvation and merit. ||8||
