ਮੋਹ ਪਸਾਰ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਕਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
Moh Pasaar Nehee Sang Baelee Bin Har Gur Kin Sukh Paaeiaa ||4||
मोह पसार नही संगि बेली बिनु हरि गुर किनि सुखु पाइआ ॥४॥
In this world of love and attachment, no one is anyone else's friend or companion; without the Lord, without the Guru, who has ever found peace? ||4||
ਜਿਸ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
Jis Ko Nadhar Karae Gur Pooraa ||
जिस कउ नदरि करे गुरु पूरा ॥
He, unto whom the Perfect Guru grants His Grace,
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
Sabadh Milaaeae Guramath Sooraa ||
सबदि मिलाए गुरमति सूरा ॥
Is merged in the Word of the Shabad, through the Teachings of the brave, heroic Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਭੂਲਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੫॥
Naanak Gur Kae Charan Saraevahu Jin Bhoolaa Maarag Paaeiaa ||5||
नानक गुर के चरन सरेवहु जिनि भूला मारगि पाइआ ॥५॥
O Nanak, dwell upon, and serve at the Guru's feet; He places those who wander back on the Path. ||5||
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਜਸੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ॥
Santh Janaan Har Dhhan Jas Piaaraa ||
संत जनां हरि धनु जसु पिआरा ॥
The wealth of the Lord's Praise is very dear to the humble Saints.
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੁਮਾਰਾ ॥
Guramath Paaeiaa Naam Thumaaraa ||
गुरमति पाइआ नामु तुमारा ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, I have obtained Your Name, Lord.
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇ ਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੬॥
Jaachik Saev Karae Dhar Har Kai Har Dharageh Jas Gaaeiaa ||6||
जाचिकु सेव करे दरि हरि कै हरि दरगह जसु गाइआ ॥६॥
The beggar serves at the Lord's door, and in the Court of the Lord, sings His Praises. ||6||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਏ ॥
Sathigur Milai Th Mehal Bulaaeae ||
सतिगुरु मिलै त महलि बुलाए ॥
When one meets the True Guru, he is called into the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਗਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
Saachee Dharageh Gath Path Paaeae ||
साची दरगह गति पति पाए ॥
In the True Court, he is blessed with salvation and honor.
ਸਾਕਤ ਠਉਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮੰਦਰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੭॥
Saakath Thour Naahee Har Mandhar Janam Marai Dhukh Paaeiaa ||7||
साकत ठउर नाही हरि मंदर जनम मरै दुखु पाइआ ॥७॥
The faithless cynic has no place of rest in the Lord's palace; he suffers the pains of birth and death. ||7||
ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥
Saevahu Sathigur Samundh Athhaahaa ||
सेवहु सतिगुर समुंदु अथाहा ॥
So serve the True Guru, the unfathomable ocean,
ਪਾਵਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥
Paavahu Naam Rathan Dhhan Laahaa ||
पावहु नामु रतनु धनु लाहा ॥
And you shall obtain the profit, the wealth, the jewel of the Naam.
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੮॥
Bikhiaa Mal Jaae Anmrith Sar Naavahu Gur Sar Santhokh Paaeiaa ||8||
बिखिआ मलु जाइ अम्रित सरि नावहु गुर सर संतोखु पाइआ ॥८॥
The filth of corruption is washed away, by bathing in the pool of Ambrosial Nectar. In the Guru's pool, contentment is obtained. ||8||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਕ ਨ ਕੀਜੈ ॥
Sathigur Saevahu Sank N Keejai ||
सतिगुर सेवहु संक न कीजै ॥
So serve the Guru without hesitation.
ਆਸਾ ਮਾਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਸੁ ਰਹੀਜੈ ॥
Aasaa Maahi Niraas Reheejai ||
आसा माहि निरासु रहीजै ॥
And in the midst of hope, remain unmoved by hope.
ਸੰਸਾ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਨਾਸਨੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਰੋਗੁ ਨ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੯॥
Sansaa Dhookh Binaasan Saevahu Fir Baahurr Rog N Laaeiaa ||9||
संसा दूख बिनासनु सेवहु फिरि बाहुड़ि रोगु न लाइआ ॥९॥
Serve the Eradicator of cynicism and suffering, and you shall never again be afflicted by the disease. ||9||
ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਡੀਆਏ ॥
Saachae Bhaavai This Vaddeeaaeae ||
साचे भावै तिसु वडीआए ॥
One who is pleasing to the True Lord is blessed with glorious greatness.
ਕਉਨੁ ਸੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਮਝਾਏ ॥
Koun S Dhoojaa This Samajhaaeae ||
कउनु सु दूजा तिसु समझाए ॥
Who else can teach him anything?
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਏਕਾ ਵਰਤੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੧੦॥
Har Gur Moorath Eaekaa Varathai Naanak Har Gur Bhaaeiaa ||10||
हरि गुर मूरति एका वरतै नानक हरि गुर भाइआ ॥१०॥
The Lord and the Guru are pervading in one form. O Nanak, the Lord loves the Guru. ||10||
ਵਾਚਹਿ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ॥
Vaachehi Pusathak Vaedh Puraanaan ||
वाचहि पुसतक वेद पुरानां ॥
Some read scriptures, the Vedas and the Puraanas.
ਇਕ ਬਹਿ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਸੁਨਾਵਹਿ ਕਾਨਾਂ ॥
Eik Behi Sunehi Sunaavehi Kaanaan ||
इक बहि सुनहि सुनावहि कानां ॥
Some sit and listen, and read to others.
ਅਜਗਰ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਕਿਉ ਖੁਲ੍ਹ੍ਹੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੧॥
Ajagar Kapatt Kehahu Kio Khulhai Bin Sathigur Thath N Paaeiaa ||11||
अजगर कपटु कहहु किउ खुल्है बिनु सतिगुर ततु न पाइआ ॥११॥
Tell me, how can the heavy, rigid doors be opened? Without the True Guru, the essence of reality is not realized. ||11||
ਕਰਹਿ ਬਿਭੂਤਿ ਲਗਾਵਹਿ ਭਸਮੈ ॥
Karehi Bibhooth Lagaavehi Bhasamai ||
करहि बिभूति लगावहि भसमै ॥
Some collect dust, and smear their bodies with ashes;
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਚੰਡਾਲੁ ਸੁ ਹਉਮੈ ॥
Anthar Krodhh Chanddaal S Houmai ||
अंतरि क्रोधु चंडालु सु हउमै ॥
But deep within them are the outcasts of anger and egotism.
ਪਾਖੰਡ ਕੀਨੇ ਜੋਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੨॥
Paakhandd Keenae Jog N Paaeeai Bin Sathigur Alakh N Paaeiaa ||12||
पाखंड कीने जोगु न पाईऐ बिनु सतिगुर अलखु न पाइआ ॥१२॥
Practicing hypocrisy, Yoga is not obtained; without the True Guru, the unseen Lord is not found. ||12||
ਤੀਰਥ ਵਰਤ ਨੇਮ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਦਿਆਨਾ ॥
Theerathh Varath Naem Karehi Oudhiaanaa ||
तीरथ वरत नेम करहि उदिआना ॥
Some make vows to visit sacred shrines of pilgrimage, keep fasts and live in the forest.
ਜਤੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਥਹਿ ਗਿਆਨਾ ॥
Jath Sath Sanjam Kathhehi Giaanaa ||
जतु सतु संजमु कथहि गिआना ॥
Some practice chastity, charity and self-discipline, and speak of spiritual wisdom.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਇਆ ॥੧੩॥
Raam Naam Bin Kio Sukh Paaeeai Bin Sathigur Bharam N Jaaeiaa ||13||
राम नाम बिनु किउ सुखु पाईऐ बिनु सतिगुर भरमु न जाइआ ॥१३॥
But without the Lord's Name, how can anyone find peace? Without the True Guru, doubt is not dispelled. ||13||
ਨਿਉਲੀ ਕਰਮ ਭੁਇਅੰਗਮ ਭਾਠੀ ॥
Nioulee Karam Bhueiangam Bhaathee ||
निउली करम भुइअंगम भाठी ॥
Inner cleansing techniques, channeling the energy to raise the Kundalini to the Tenth Gate,
ਰੇਚਕ ਕੁੰਭਕ ਪੂਰਕ ਮਨ ਹਾਠੀ ॥
Raechak Kunbhak Poorak Man Haathee ||
रेचक कु्मभक पूरक मन हाठी ॥
Inhaling, exhaling and holding the breath by the force of the mind -
ਪਾਖੰਡ ਧਰਮੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਸਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਮਹਾ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧੪॥
Paakhandd Dhharam Preeth Nehee Har So Gur Sabadh Mehaa Ras Paaeiaa ||14||
पाखंड धरमु प्रीति नही हरि सउ गुर सबद महा रसु पाइआ ॥१४॥
By empty hypocritical practices, Dharmic love for the Lord is not produced. Only through the Word of the Guru's Shabad is the sublime, supreme essence obtained. ||14||
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥
Kudharath Dhaekh Rehae Man Maaniaa ||
कुदरति देखि रहे मनु मानिआ ॥
Seeing the Lord's creative power, my mind remains satisfied.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਭੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪਛਾਨਿਆ ॥
Gur Sabadhee Sabh Breham Pashhaaniaa ||
गुर सबदी सभु ब्रहमु पछानिआ ॥
Through the Guru's Shabad, I have realized that all is God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥੧੫॥੫॥੨੨॥

नानक आतम रामु सबाइआ गुर सतिगुर अलखु लखाइआ ॥१५॥५॥२२॥
O Nanak, the Lord, the Supreme Soul, is in all. The Guru, the True Guru, has inspired me to see the unseen Lord. ||15||5||22||

Hukamee Sehajae Srisatt Oupaaee ||
हुकमी सहजे स्रिसटि उपाई ॥
By the Hukam of His Command, He effortlessly created the Universe.
ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਅਪਣੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Kar Kar Vaekhai Apanee Vaddiaaee ||
करि करि वेखै अपणी वडिआई ॥
Creating the creation, He gazes upon His own greatness.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Aapae Karae Karaaeae Aapae Hukamae Rehiaa Samaaee Hae ||1||
आपे करे कराए आपे हुकमे रहिआ समाई हे ॥१॥
He Himself acts, and inspires all to act; in His Will, He pervades and permeates all. ||1||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਗੁਬਾਰਾ ॥
Maaeiaa Mohu Jagath Gubaaraa ||
माइआ मोहु जगतु गुबारा ॥
The world is in the darkness of love and attachment to Maya.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Guramukh Boojhai Ko Veechaaraa ||
गुरमुखि बूझै को वीचारा ॥
How rare is that Gurmukh who contemplates, and understands.
ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਪਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Aapae Nadhar Karae So Paaeae Aapae Mael Milaaee Hae ||2||
आपे नदरि करे सो पाए आपे मेलि मिलाई हे ॥२॥
He alone attains the Lord, unto whom He grants His Grace. He Himself unites in His Union. ||2||
