ਸਚੈ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਵਰ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Sachai Oopar Avar N Dheesai Saachae Keemath Paaee Hae ||8||
सचै ऊपरि अवर न दीसै साचे कीमति पाई हे ॥८॥
I cannot see any other above the True Lord. The True Lord does the appraisal. ||8||
ਐਥੈ ਗੋਇਲੜਾ ਦਿਨ ਚਾਰੇ ॥
Aithhai Goeilarraa Dhin Chaarae ||
ऐथै गोइलड़ा दिन चारे ॥
In this green pasture, the mortal stays only a few days.
ਖੇਲੁ ਤਮਾਸਾ ਧੁੰਧੂਕਾਰੇ ॥
Khael Thamaasaa Dhhundhhookaarae ||
खेलु तमासा धुंधूकारे ॥
He plays and frolics in utter darkness.
ਬਾਜੀ ਖੇਲਿ ਗਏ ਬਾਜੀਗਰ ਜਿਉ ਨਿਸਿ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਭਖਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Baajee Khael Geae Baajeegar Jio Nis Supanai Bhakhalaaee Hae ||9||
बाजी खेलि गए बाजीगर जिउ निसि सुपनै भखलाई हे ॥९॥
The jugglers have staged their show, and left, like people mumbling in a dream. ||9||
ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਤਖਤਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Thin Ko Thakhath Milee Vaddiaaee ||
तिन कउ तखति मिली वडिआई ॥
They alone are blessed with glorious greatness at the Lord's throne,
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
Nirabho Man Vasiaa Liv Laaee ||
निरभउ मनि वसिआ लिव लाई ॥
Who enshrine the fearless Lord in their minds, and lovingly center themselves on Him.
ਖੰਡੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡੀ ਪਾਤਾਲੀ ਪੁਰੀਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Khanddee Brehamanddee Paathaalee Pureeee Thribhavan Thaarree Laaee Hae ||10||
खंडी ब्रहमंडी पाताली पुरीई त्रिभवण ताड़ी लाई हे ॥१०॥
In the galaxies and solar systems, nether regions, celestial realms and the three worlds, the Lord is in the primal void of deep absorption. ||10||
ਸਾਚੀ ਨਗਰੀ ਤਖਤੁ ਸਚਾਵਾ ॥
Saachee Nagaree Thakhath Sachaavaa ||
साची नगरी तखतु सचावा ॥
True is the village, and true is the throne,
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਾ ॥
Guramukh Saach Milai Sukh Paavaa ||
गुरमुखि साचु मिलै सुखु पावा ॥
Of those Gurmukhs who meet with the True Lord, and find peace.
ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚੈ ਤਖਤਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਗਣਤ ਗਵਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
Saachae Saachai Thakhath Vaddaaee Houmai Ganath Gavaaee Hae ||11||
साचे साचै तखति वडाई हउमै गणत गवाई हे ॥११॥
In Truth, seated upon the true throne, they are blessed with glorious greatness; their egotism is eradicated, along with the calculation of their account. ||11||
ਗਣਤ ਗਣੀਐ ਸਹਸਾ ਜੀਐ ॥
Ganath Ganeeai Sehasaa Jeeai ||
गणत गणीऐ सहसा जीऐ ॥
Calculating its account, the soul becomes anxious.
ਕਿਉ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਦੂਐ ਤੀਐ ॥
Kio Sukh Paavai Dhooai Theeai ||
किउ सुखु पावै दूऐ तीऐ ॥
How can one find peace, through duality and the three gunas - the three qualities?
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
Niramal Eaek Niranjan Dhaathaa Gur Poorae Thae Path Paaee Hae ||12||
निरमलु एकु निरंजनु दाता गुर पूरे ते पति पाई हे ॥१२॥
The One Lord is immaculate and formless, the Great Giver; through the Perfect Guru, honor is obtained. ||12||
ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਵਿਰਲੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ॥
Jug Jug Viralee Guramukh Jaathaa ||
जुगि जुगि विरली गुरमुखि जाता ॥
In each and every age, very rare are those who, as Gurmukh, realize the Lord.
ਸਾਚਾ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Saachaa Rav Rehiaa Man Raathaa ||
साचा रवि रहिआ मनु राता ॥
Their minds are imbued with the True, all-pervading Lord.
ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
This Kee Outt Gehee Sukh Paaeiaa Man Than Mail N Kaaee Hae ||13||
तिस की ओट गही सुखु पाइआ मनि तनि मैलु न काई हे ॥१३॥
Seeking His Shelter, they find peace, and their minds and bodies are not stained with filth. ||13||
ਜੀਭ ਰਸਾਇਣਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਰਾਤੀ ॥
Jeebh Rasaaein Saachai Raathee ||
जीभ रसाइणि साचै राती ॥
Their tongues are imbued with the True Lord, the source of nectar;
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਭਉ ਨ ਭਰਾਤੀ ॥
Har Prabh Sangee Bho N Bharaathee ||
हरि प्रभु संगी भउ न भराती ॥
Abiding with the Lord God, they have no fear or doubt.
ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਸ੍ਰੋਤ ਰਜੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
Sravan Sroth Rajae Gurabaanee Jothee Joth Milaaee Hae ||14||
स्रवण स्रोत रजे गुरबाणी जोती जोति मिलाई हे ॥१४॥
Hearing the Word of the Guru's Bani, their ears are satisfied, and their light merges into the Light. ||14||
ਰਖਿ ਰਖਿ ਪੈਰ ਧਰੇ ਪਉ ਧਰਣਾ ॥
Rakh Rakh Pair Dhharae Po Dhharanaa ||
रखि रखि पैर धरे पउ धरणा ॥
Carefully, carefully, I place my feet upon the ground.
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
Jath Kath Dhaekho Thaeree Saranaa ||
जत कत देखउ तेरी सरणा ॥
Wherever I go, I behold Your Sanctuary.
ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਤੂਹੈ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਤੁਝ ਹੀ ਸਿਉ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
Dhukh Sukh Dhaehi Thoohai Man Bhaavehi Thujh Hee Sio Ban Aaee Hae ||15||
दुखु सुखु देहि तूहै मनि भावहि तुझ ही सिउ बणि आई हे ॥१५॥
Whether You grant me pain or pleasure, You are pleasing to my mind. I am in harmony with You. ||15||
ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲਿ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Anth Kaal Ko Baelee Naahee ||
अंत कालि को बेली नाही ॥
No one is anyone's companion or helper at the very last moment;
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ॥
Guramukh Jaathaa Thudhh Saalaahee ||
गुरमुखि जाता तुधु सालाही ॥
As Gurmukh, I realize You and praise You.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੩॥
Naanak Naam Rathae Bairaagee Nij Ghar Thaarree Laaee Hae ||16||3||
नानक नामि रते बैरागी निज घरि ताड़ी लाई हे ॥१६॥३॥
O Nanak, imbued with the Naam, I am detached; in the home of my own self deep within, I am absorbed in the primal void of deep meditation. ||16||3||

From the very beginning of time, and throughout the ages, You are infinite and incomparable.
ਆਦਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਖਸਮ ਹਮਾਰੇ ॥
Aadh Niranjan Khasam Hamaarae ||
आदि निरंजन खसम हमारे ॥
You are my primal, immaculate Lord and Master.
ਸਾਚੇ ਜੋਗ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
Saachae Jog Jugath Veechaaree Saachae Thaarree Laaee Hae ||1||
साचे जोग जुगति वीचारी साचे ताड़ी लाई हे ॥१॥
I contemplate the Way of Yoga, the Way of Union with the True Lord. I am truly absorbed in the primal void of deep meditation. ||1||
ਕੇਤੜਿਆ ਜੁਗ ਧੁੰਧੂਕਾਰੈ ॥
Kaetharriaa Jug Dhhundhhookaarai ||
केतड़िआ जुग धुंधूकारै ॥
For so many ages, there was only pitch darkness;
ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੈ ॥
Thaarree Laaee Sirajanehaarai ||
ताड़ी लाई सिरजणहारै ॥
The Creator Lord was absorbed in the primal void.
ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਚੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸਾਚੈ ਤਖਤਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Sach Naam Sachee Vaddiaaee Saachai Thakhath Vaddaaee Hae ||2||
सचु नामु सची वडिआई साचै तखति वडाई हे ॥२॥
There was the True Name, the glorious greatness of the Truth, and the glory of His true throne. ||2||
ਸਤਜੁਗਿ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਸਰੀਰਾ ॥
Sathajug Sath Santhokh Sareeraa ||
सतजुगि सतु संतोखु सरीरा ॥
In the Golden Age of Truth, Truth and contentment filled the bodies.
ਸਤਿ ਸਤਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥
Sath Sath Varathai Gehir Ganbheeraa ||
सति सति वरतै गहिर ग्मभीरा ॥
Truth was pervasive, Truth, deep, profound and unfathomable.
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਪਰਖੈ ਸਾਚੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਚਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Sachaa Saahib Sach Parakhai Saachai Hukam Chalaaee Hae ||3||
सचा साहिबु सचु परखै साचै हुकमि चलाई हे ॥३॥
The True Lord appraises the mortals on the Touchstone of Truth, and issues His True Command. ||3||
ਸਤ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ॥
Sath Santhokhee Sathigur Pooraa ||
सत संतोखी सतिगुरु पूरा ॥
The Perfect True Guru is true and contented.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨੇ ਸੋ ਸੂਰਾ ॥
Gur Kaa Sabadh Manae So Sooraa ||
गुर का सबदु मने सो सूरा ॥
He alone is a spiritual hero, who believes in the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ਮਾਨੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਰਜਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
Saachee Dharageh Saach Nivaasaa Maanai Hukam Rajaaee Hae ||4||
साची दरगह साचु निवासा मानै हुकमु रजाई हे ॥४॥
He alone obtains a true seat in the True Court of the Lord, who surrenders to the Command of the Commander. ||4||
ਸਤਜੁਗਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
Sathajug Saach Kehai Sabh Koee ||
सतजुगि साचु कहै सभु कोई ॥
In the Golden Age of Truth, everyone spoke the Truth.
ਸਚਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
Sach Varathai Saachaa Soee ||
सचि वरतै साचा सोई ॥
Truth was pervasive - the Lord was Truth.
ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਭਰਮ ਭਉ ਭੰਜਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਖਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
Man Mukh Saach Bharam Bho Bhanjan Guramukh Saach Sakhaaee Hae ||5||
मनि मुखि साचु भरम भउ भंजनु गुरमुखि साचु सखाई हे ॥५॥
With Truth in their minds and mouths, mortals were rid of doubt and fear. Truth was the friend of the Gurmukhs. ||5||
ਤ੍ਰੇਤੈ ਧਰਮ ਕਲਾ ਇਕ ਚੂਕੀ ॥
Thraethai Dhharam Kalaa Eik Chookee ||
त्रेतै धरम कला इक चूकी ॥
In the Silver Age of Traytaa Yoga, one power of Dharma was lost.
ਤੀਨਿ ਚਰਣ ਇਕ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਸੂਕੀ ॥
Theen Charan Eik Dhubidhhaa Sookee ||
तीनि चरण इक दुबिधा सूकी ॥
Three feet remained; through duality, one was cut off.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਪਚੈ ਅਵਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Guramukh Hovai S Saach Vakhaanai Manamukh Pachai Avaaee Hae ||6||
गुरमुखि होवै सु साचु वखाणै मनमुखि पचै अवाई हे ॥६॥
Those who were Gurmukh spoke the Truth, while the self-willed manmukhs wasted away in vain. ||6||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੀਝੈ ॥
Manamukh Kadhae N Dharageh Seejhai ||
मनमुखि कदे न दरगह सीझै ॥
The manmukh never succeeds in the Court of the Lord.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਰੀਝੈ ॥
Bin Sabadhai Kio Anthar Reejhai ||
बिनु सबदै किउ अंतरु रीझै ॥
Without the Word of the Shabad, how can one be pleased within?
ਬਾਧੇ ਆਵਹਿ ਬਾਧੇ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਕਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Baadhhae Aavehi Baadhhae Jaavehi Sojhee Boojh N Kaaee Hae ||7||
बाधे आवहि बाधे जावहि सोझी बूझ न काई हे ॥७॥
In bondage they come, and in bondage they go; they understand and comprehend nothing. ||7||
ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਪੁਰਿ ਅਧੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
Dhaeiaa Dhuaapur Adhhee Hoee ||
दइआ दुआपुरि अधी होई ॥
In the Brass Age of Dwaapur Yuga, compassion was cut in half.
