ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਹਿ ॥
Thaakur Kae Saevak Har Rang Maanehi ||
ठाकुर के सेवक हरि रंग माणहि ॥
The servant of the Lord and Master enjoys the Love and Affection of the Lord.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Jo Kishh Thaakur Kaa So Saevak Kaa Saevak Thaakur Hee Sang Jaahar Jeeo ||3||
जो किछु ठाकुर का सो सेवक का सेवकु ठाकुर ही संगि जाहरु जीउ ॥३॥
That which belongs to the Lord and Master, belongs to His servant. The servant becomes distinguished in association with his Lord and Master. ||3||
ਅਪੁਨੈ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਜੋ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ॥
Apunai Thaakur Jo Pehiraaeiaa ||
अपुनै ठाकुरि जो पहिराइआ ॥
He, whom the Lord and Master dresses in the robes of honor,
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਲੇਖਾ ਪੁਛਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
Bahur N Laekhaa Pushh Bulaaeiaa ||
बहुरि न लेखा पुछि बुलाइआ ॥
Is not called to answer for his account any longer.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਸੋ ਗਹਿਰ ਗਭੀਰਾ ਗਉਹਰੁ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੮॥੨੫॥
This Saevak Kai Naanak Kurabaanee So Gehir Gabheeraa Gouhar Jeeo ||4||18||25||
तिसु सेवक कै नानक कुरबाणी सो गहिर गभीरा गउहरु जीउ ॥४॥१८॥२५॥
Nanak is a sacrifice to that servant. He is the pearl of the deep and unfathomable Ocean of God. ||4||18||25||

माझ महला ५ ॥
Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਘਰ ਮਹਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Sabh Kishh Ghar Mehi Baahar Naahee ||
सभ किछु घर महि बाहरि नाही ॥
Everything is within the home of the self; there is nothing beyond.
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਟੋਲੈ ਸੋ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਹੀ ॥
Baahar Ttolai So Bharam Bhulaahee ||
बाहरि टोलै सो भरमि भुलाही ॥
One who searches outside is deluded by doubt.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
Gur Parasaadhee Jinee Anthar Paaeiaa So Anthar Baahar Suhaelaa Jeeo ||1||
गुर परसादी जिनी अंतरि पाइआ सो अंतरि बाहरि सुहेला जीउ ॥१॥
By Guru's Grace, one who has found the Lord within is happy, inwardly and outwardly. ||1||
ਝਿਮਿ ਝਿਮਿ ਵਰਸੈ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਧਾਰਾ ॥
Jhim Jhim Varasai Anmrith Dhhaaraa ||
झिमि झिमि वरसै अम्रित धारा ॥
Slowly, gently, drop by drop, the stream of nectar trickles down within.
ਮਨੁ ਪੀਵੈ ਸੁਨਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਾ ॥
Man Peevai Sun Sabadh Beechaaraa ||
मनु पीवै सुनि सबदु बीचारा ॥
The mind drinks it in, hearing and reflecting on the Word of the Shabad.
ਅਨਦ ਬਿਨੋਦ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
Anadh Binodh Karae Dhin Raathee Sadhaa Sadhaa Har Kaelaa Jeeo ||2||
अनद बिनोद करे दिन राती सदा सदा हरि केला जीउ ॥२॥
It enjoys bliss and ecstasy day and night, and plays with the Lord forever and ever. ||2||
ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕਾ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ॥
Janam Janam Kaa Vishhurriaa Miliaa ||
जनम जनम का विछुड़िआ मिलिआ ॥
I have now been united with the Lord after having been separated and cut off from Him for so many lifetimes;
ਸਾਧ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਸੂਕਾ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
Saadhh Kirapaa Thae Sookaa Hariaa ||
साध क्रिपा ते सूका हरिआ ॥
By the Grace of the Holy Saint, the dried-up branches have blossomed forth again in their greenery.
ਸੁਮਤਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਏ ਮੇਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Sumath Paaeae Naam Dhhiaaeae Guramukh Hoeae Maelaa Jeeo ||3||
सुमति पाए नामु धिआए गुरमुखि होए मेला जीउ ॥३॥
I have obtained this sublime understanding, and I meditate on the Naam; as Gurmukh, I have met the Lord. ||3||
ਜਲ ਤਰੰਗੁ ਜਿਉ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
Jal Tharang Jio Jalehi Samaaeiaa ||
जल तरंगु जिउ जलहि समाइआ ॥
As the waves of water merge again with the water,
ਤਿਉ ਜੋਤੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥
Thio Jothee Sang Joth Milaaeiaa ||
तिउ जोती संगि जोति मिलाइआ ॥
So does my light merge again into the Light.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਟੇ ਕਿਵਾੜਾ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਹੋਈਐ ਜਉਲਾ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੧੯॥੨੬॥
Kahu Naanak Bhram Kattae Kivaarraa Bahurr N Hoeeai Joulaa Jeeo ||4||19||26||
कहु नानक भ्रम कटे किवाड़ा बहुड़ि न होईऐ जउला जीउ ॥४॥१९॥२६॥
Says Nanak, the veil of illusion has been cut away, and I shall not go out wandering any more. ||4||19||26||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ ॥
This Kurabaanee Jin Thoon Suniaa ||
तिसु कुरबाणी जिनि तूं सुणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice to those who have heard of You.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਰਸਨਾ ਭਣਿਆ ॥
This Balihaaree Jin Rasanaa Bhaniaa ||
तिसु बलिहारी जिनि रसना भणिआ ॥
I am a sacrifice to those whose tongues speak of You.
ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਜੋ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
Vaar Vaar Jaaee This Vittahu Jo Man Than Thudhh Aaraadhhae Jeeo ||1||
वारि वारि जाई तिसु विटहु जो मनि तनि तुधु आराधे जीउ ॥१॥
Again and again, I am a sacrifice to those who meditate on You with mind and body. ||1||
ਤਿਸੁ ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਲੀ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
This Charan Pakhaalee Jo Thaerai Maarag Chaalai ||
तिसु चरण पखाली जो तेरै मारगि चालै ॥
I wash the feet of those who walk upon Your Path.
ਨੈਨ ਨਿਹਾਲੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੁਰਖ ਦਇਆਲੈ ॥
Nain Nihaalee This Purakh Dhaeiaalai ||
नैन निहाली तिसु पुरख दइआलै ॥
With my eyes, I long to behold those kind people.
ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਾਜਨ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
Man Dhaevaa This Apunae Saajan Jin Gur Mil So Prabh Laadhhae Jeeo ||2||
मनु देवा तिसु अपुने साजन जिनि गुर मिलि सो प्रभु लाधे जीउ ॥२॥
I offer my mind to those friends, who have met the Guru and found God. ||2||
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਣੇ ॥
Sae Vaddabhaagee Jin Thum Jaanae ||
से वडभागी जिनि तुम जाणे ॥
Very fortunate are those who know You.
ਸਭ ਕੈ ਮਧੇ ਅਲਿਪਤ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੇ ॥
Sabh Kai Madhhae Alipath Nirabaanae ||
सभ कै मधे अलिपत निरबाणे ॥
In the midst of all, they remain detached and balanced in Nirvaanaa.
ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਨਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਦੂਤ ਉਨਿ ਸਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Saadhh Kai Sang Oun Bhoujal Thariaa Sagal Dhooth Oun Saadhhae Jeeo ||3||
साध कै संगि उनि भउजलु तरिआ सगल दूत उनि साधे जीउ ॥३॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean, and conquer all their evil passions. ||3||
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥
Thin Kee Saran Pariaa Man Maeraa ||
तिन की सरणि परिआ मनु मेरा ॥
My mind has entered their Sanctuary.
ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਤਜਿ ਮੋਹੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
Maan Thaan Thaj Mohu Andhhaeraa ||
माणु ताणु तजि मोहु अंधेरा ॥
I have renounced my pride in my own strength, and the darkness of emotional attachment.
ਨਾਮੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧੇ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੦॥੨੭॥
Naam Dhaan Dheejai Naanak Ko This Prabh Agam Agaadhhae Jeeo ||4||20||27||
नामु दानु दीजै नानक कउ तिसु प्रभ अगम अगाधे जीउ ॥४॥२०॥२७॥
Please bless Nanak with the Gift of the Naam, the Name of the Inaccessible and Unfathomable God. ||4||20||27||

You are the tree; Your branches have blossomed forth.
ਤੂੰ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਹੋਆ ਅਸਥੂਲੀ ॥
Thoon Sookham Hoaa Asathhoolee ||
तूं सूखमु होआ असथूली ॥
From the very small and subtle, You have become huge and manifest.
ਤੂੰ ਜਲਨਿਧਿ ਤੂੰ ਫੇਨੁ ਬੁਦਬੁਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
Thoon Jalanidhh Thoon Faen Budhabudhaa Thudhh Bin Avar N Bhaaleeai Jeeo ||1||
तूं जलनिधि तूं फेनु बुदबुदा तुधु बिनु अवरु न भालीऐ जीउ ॥१॥
You are the Ocean of Water, and You are the foam and the bubbles on its surface. I cannot see any other except You, Lord. ||1||
ਤੂੰ ਸੂਤੁ ਮਣੀਏ ਭੀ ਤੂੰਹੈ ॥
Thoon Sooth Maneeeae Bhee Thoonhai ||
तूं सूतु मणीए भी तूंहै ॥
You are the thread, and You are also the beads.
ਤੂੰ ਗੰਠੀ ਮੇਰੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਤੂੰਹੈ ॥
Thoon Ganthee Maer Sir Thoonhai ||
तूं गंठी मेरु सिरि तूंहै ॥
You are the knot, and You are the primary bead of the maalaa.
ਆਦਿ ਮਧਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ਦਿਖਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
Aadh Madhh Anth Prabh Soee Avar N Koe Dhikhaaleeai Jeeo ||2||
आदि मधि अंति प्रभु सोई अवरु न कोइ दिखालीऐ जीउ ॥२॥
In the beginning, in the middle and in the end, there is God. I cannot see any other except You, Lord. ||2||
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੁ ਸਰਗੁਣੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
Thoon Niragun Saragun Sukhadhaathaa ||
तूं निरगुणु सरगुणु सुखदाता ॥
You transcend all qualities, and You possess the supreme qualities. You are the Giver of peace.
ਤੂੰ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੁ ਰਸੀਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
Thoon Nirabaan Raseeaa Rang Raathaa ||
तूं निरबाणु रसीआ रंगि राता ॥
You are detached in Nirvaanaa, and You are the Enjoyer, imbued with love.
ਅਪਣੇ ਕਰਤਬ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਆਪੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਮਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
Apanae Karathab Aapae Jaanehi Aapae Thudhh Samaaleeai Jeeo ||3||
अपणे करतब आपे जाणहि आपे तुधु समालीऐ जीउ ॥३॥
You Yourself know Your Own Ways; You dwell upon Yourself. ||3||
ਤੂੰ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਆਪੇ ॥
Thoon Thaakur Saevak Fun Aapae ||
तूं ठाकुरु सेवकु फुनि आपे ॥
You are the Master, and then again, You are the servant.
ਤੂੰ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪੇ ॥
Thoon Gupath Paragatt Prabh Aapae ||
तूं गुपतु परगटु प्रभ आपे ॥
O God, You Yourself are the Manifest and the Unmanifest.
ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਇਕ ਭੋਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੨੧॥੨੮॥
Naanak Dhaas Sadhaa Gun Gaavai Eik Bhoree Nadhar Nihaaleeai Jeeo ||4||21||28||
नानक दासु सदा गुण गावै इक भोरी नदरि निहालीऐ जीउ ॥४॥२१॥२८॥
