Those who serve their True Guru are certified and accepted.
ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਕੈ ਰਹਨਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Vichahu Aap Gavaae Kai Rehan Sach Liv Laae ||
विचहु आपु गवाइ कै रहनि सचि लिव लाइ ॥
They eradicate selfishness and conceit from within; they remain lovingly absorbed in the True One.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਤਿਨਾ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥

सतिगुरु जिनी न सेविओ तिना बिरथा जनमु गवाइ ॥
Those who do not serve the True Guru waste away their lives in vain.

ਮਨੁ ਵੇਕਾਰੀ ਵੇੜਿਆ ਵੇਕਾਰਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
Man Vaekaaree Vaerriaa Vaekaaraa Karam Kamaae ||
मनु वेकारी वेड़िआ वेकारा करम कमाइ ॥
With the mind encircled by wickedness and evil, people do evil deeds.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਪੂਜਦੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਜਾਇ ॥
Dhoojai Bhaae Agiaanee Poojadhae Dharageh Milai Sajaae ||
दूजै भाइ अगिआनी पूजदे दरगह मिलै सजाइ ॥
The ignorant worship the love of duality; in the Lord's Court they shall be punished.
ਆਤਮ ਦੇਉ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Aatham Dhaeo Poojeeai Bin Sathigur Boojh N Paae ||
आतम देउ पूजीऐ बिनु सतिगुर बूझ न पाइ ॥
So worship the Lord, the Light of the soul; without the True Guru, understanding is not obtained.
ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਾ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Jap Thap Sanjam Bhaanaa Sathiguroo Kaa Karamee Palai Paae ||
जपु तपु संजमु भाणा सतिगुरू का करमी पलै पाइ ॥
Meditation, penance and austere self-discipline are found by surrendering to the True Guru's Will. By His Grace this is received.

Jith Mukh Bhaag Likhiaa Dhhur Saachai Har Thith Mukh Naam Japaathee ||13||
जितु मुखि भागु लिखिआ धुरि साचै हरि तितु मुखि नामु जपाती ॥१३॥
One who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead by the True Lord, chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||13||

Sathigur Jinee N Saeviou Sabadh N Keetho Veechaar ||
सतिगुरु जिनी न सेविओ सबदि न कीतो वीचारु ॥
Those who do not serve the True Guru, and who do not contemplate the Word of the Shabad
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਆਇਓ ਮਿਰਤਕੁ ਹੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥
Anthar Giaan N Aaeiou Mirathak Hai Sansaar ||
अंतरि गिआनु न आइओ मिरतकु है संसारि ॥
-spiritual wisdom does not enter into their hearts; they are like dead bodies in the world.
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਫੇਰੁ ਪਇਆ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥
Lakh Chouraaseeh Faer Paeiaa Mar Janmai Hoe Khuaar ||
लख चउरासीह फेरु पइआ मरि जमै होइ खुआरु ॥
They go through the cycle of 8.4 million reincarnations, and they are ruined through death and rebirth.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੋ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Kee Saevaa So Karae Jis No Aap Karaaeae Soe ||
सतिगुर की सेवा सो करे जिस नो आपि कराए सोइ ॥
He alone serves the True Guru, whom the Lord Himself inspires to do so.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Vich Naam Nidhhaan Hai Karam Paraapath Hoe ||
सतिगुर विचि नामु निधानु है करमि परापति होइ ॥
The Treasure of the Naam is within the True Guru; by His Grace, it is obtained.
ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦ ਸਿਉ ਤਿਨ ਸਚੀ ਸਦਾ ਲਿਵ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sach Rathae Gur Sabadh Sio Thin Sachee Sadhaa Liv Hoe ||
सचि रते गुर सबद सिउ तिन सची सदा लिव होइ ॥
Those who are truly attuned to the Word of the Guru's Shabad-their love is forever True.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮੇਲੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Jis No Maelae N Vishhurrai Sehaj Samaavai Soe ||1||
नानक जिस नो मेले न विछुड़ै सहजि समावै सोइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, those who are united with Him shall not be separated again. They merge imperceptibly into God. ||1||

ਸੋ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਜ ਭਗਵੰਤੈ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

सो भगउती जो भगवंतै जाणै ॥
One who knows the Benevolent Lord God is the true devotee of Bhagaautee.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Aap Pashhaanai ||
गुर परसादी आपु पछाणै ॥
By Guru's Grace, he is self-realized.
ਧਾਵਤੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਇਕਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਣੈ ॥
Dhhaavath Raakhai Eikath Ghar Aanai ||
धावतु राखै इकतु घरि आणै ॥
He restrains his wandering mind, and brings it back to its own home within the self.
ਜੀਵਤੁ ਮਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥
Jeevath Marai Har Naam Vakhaanai ||
जीवतु मरै हरि नामु वखाणै ॥
He remains dead while yet alive, and he chants the Name of the Lord.
ਐਸਾ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਉਤਮੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aisaa Bhagouthee Outham Hoe ||
ऐसा भगउती उतमु होइ ॥
Such a Bhagaautee is most exalted.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Sach Samaavai Soe ||2||
नानक सचि समावै सोइ ॥२॥
O Nanak, he merges into the True One. ||2||

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਪਟੁ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਕਹਾਏ ॥
Anthar Kapatt Bhagouthee Kehaaeae ||
अंतरि कपटु भगउती कहाए ॥
He is full of deceit, and yet he calls himself a devotee of Bhagaautee.
ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥
Paakhandd Paarabreham Kadhae N Paaeae ||
पाखंडि पारब्रहमु कदे न पाए ॥
Through hypocrisy, he shall never attain the Supreme Lord God.
ਪਰ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮਲੁ ਲਾਏ ॥
Par Nindhaa Karae Anthar Mal Laaeae ||
पर निंदा करे अंतरि मलु लाए ॥
He slanders others, and pollutes himself with his own filth.
ਬਾਹਰਿ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਜੂਠਿ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
Baahar Mal Dhhovai Man Kee Jooth N Jaaeae ||
बाहरि मलु धोवै मन की जूठि न जाए ॥
Outwardly, he washes off the filth, but the impurity of his mind does not go away.
ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਦੁ ਰਚਾਏ ॥
Sathasangath Sio Baadh Rachaaeae ||
सतसंगति सिउ बादु रचाए ॥
He argues with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਦੁਖੀਆ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਰਚਾਏ ॥
Anadhin Dhukheeaa Dhoojai Bhaae Rachaaeae ||
अनदिनु दुखीआ दूजै भाइ रचाए ॥
Night and day, he suffers, engrossed in the love of duality.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਬਹੁ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
Har Naam N Chaethai Bahu Karam Kamaaeae ||
हरि नामु न चेतै बहु करम कमाए ॥
He does not remember the Name of the Lord, but still, he performs all sorts of empty rituals.
ਪੂਰਬ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੁ ਮੇਟਣਾ ਨ ਜਾਏ ॥
Poorab Likhiaa S Maettanaa N Jaaeae ||
पूरब लिखिआ सु मेटणा न जाए ॥
That which is pre-ordained cannot be erased.
ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਮੋਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਏ ॥੩॥

Sathigur Jinee Dhhiaaeiaa Sae Thripath Aghaahee ||
सतिगुरु जिनी धिआइआ से त्रिपति अघाही ॥
Those who meditate on the True Guru are satisfied and fulfilled.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਜਮ ਡਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
