ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
Sabadh Rathee Sohaaganee Sathigur Kai Bhaae Piaar ||
सबदि रती सोहागणी सतिगुर कै भाइ पिआरि ॥
The happy soul-bride is attuned to the Word of the Shabad; she is in love with the True Guru.
ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
Sadhaa Raavae Pir Aapanaa Sachai Praem Piaar ||
सदा रावे पिरु आपणा सचै प्रेमि पिआरि ॥
She continually enjoys and ravishes her Beloved, with true love and affection.
ਅਤਿ ਸੁਆਲਿਉ ਸੁੰਦਰੀ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
Ath Suaalio Sundharee Sobhaavanthee Naar ||
अति सुआलिउ सुंदरी सोभावंती नारि ॥
She is such a loveable, beautiful and noble woman.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੇਲੀ ਮੇਲਣਹਾਰਿ ॥੨॥

नानक नामि सोहागणी मेली मेलणहारि ॥२॥
O Nanak, through the Naam, the happy soul-bride unites with the Lord of Union. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਕਰਹਿ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਫਾਥੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ॥
Har Thaeree Sabh Karehi Ousathath Jin Faathhae Kaadtiaa ||
हरि तेरी सभ करहि उसतति जिनि फाथे काढिआ ॥
Lord, everyone sings Your Praises. You have freed us from bondage.
ਹਰਿ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਭ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਪੈ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਿਆ ॥
Har Thudhhano Karehi Sabh Namasakaar Jin Paapai Thae Raakhiaa ||
हरि तुधनो करहि सभ नमसकारु जिनि पापै ते राखिआ ॥
Lord, everyone bows in reverence to You. You have saved us from our sinful ways.
ਹਰਿ ਨਿਮਾਣਿਆ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਡਾਢੀ ਹੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਡਾਢਿਆ ॥
Har Nimaaniaa Thoon Maan Har Ddaadtee Hoon Thoon Ddaadtiaa ||
हरि निमाणिआ तूं माणु हरि डाढी हूं तूं डाढिआ ॥
Lord, You are the Honor of the dishonored. Lord, You are the Strongest of the strong.
ਹਰਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀਆ ਮਾਰਿ ਨਿਵਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਸਾਧਿਆ ॥
Har Ahankaareeaa Maar Nivaaeae Manamukh Moorr Saadhhiaa ||
हरि अहंकारीआ मारि निवाए मनमुख मूड़ साधिआ ॥
The Lord beats down the egocentrics and corrects the foolish, self-willed manmukhs.
ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਦੇਇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਗਰੀਬ ਅਨਾਥਿਆ ॥੧੭॥
Har Bhagathaa Dhaee Vaddiaaee Gareeb Anaathhiaa ||17||
हरि भगता देइ वडिआई गरीब अनाथिआ ॥१७॥
The Lord bestows glorious greatness on His devotees, the poor, and the lost souls. ||17||

Shalok, Third Mehl:
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਣੈ ਜੋ ਚਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਡੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Kai Bhaanai Jo Chalai This Vaddiaaee Vaddee Hoe ||
सतिगुर कै भाणै जो चलै तिसु वडिआई वडी होइ ॥
One who walks in harmony with the Will of the True Guru, obtains the greatest glory.
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਤਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Har Kaa Naam Outham Man Vasai Maett N Sakai Koe ||
हरि का नामु उतमु मनि वसै मेटि न सकै कोइ ॥
The Exalted Name of the Lord abides in his mind, and no one can take it away.
ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਣੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Kirapaa Karae Jis Aapanee This Karam Paraapath Hoe ||
किरपा करे जिसु आपणी तिसु करमि परापति होइ ॥
That person, upon whom the Lord bestows His Grace, receives His Mercy.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥੧॥
Naanak Kaaran Karathae Vas Hai Guramukh Boojhai Koe ||1||
नानक कारणु करते वसि है गुरमुखि बूझै कोइ ॥१॥
O Nanak, creativity is under the control of the Creator; how rare are those who, as Gurmukh, realize this! ||1||

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰ ॥
Naanak Har Naam Jinee Aaraadhhiaa Anadhin Har Liv Thaar ||
नानक हरि नामु जिनी आराधिआ अनदिनु हरि लिव तार ॥
O Nanak, those who worship and adore the Lord's Name night and day, vibrate the String of the Lord's Love.
ਮਾਇਆ ਬੰਦੀ ਖਸਮ ਕੀ ਤਿਨ ਅਗੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕਾਰ ॥
Maaeiaa Bandhee Khasam Kee Thin Agai Kamaavai Kaar ||
माइआ बंदी खसम की तिन अगै कमावै कार ॥
Maya, the maid-servant of our Lord and Master, serves them.
ਪੂਰੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਿ ਛੋਡਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਵਾਰਣਹਾਰ ॥
Poorai Pooraa Kar Shhoddiaa Hukam Savaaranehaar ||
पूरै पूरा करि छोडिआ हुकमि सवारणहार ॥
The Perfect One has made them perfect; by the Hukam of His Command, they are embellished.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੋਖ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Jin Bujhiaa Thin Paaeiaa Mokh Dhuaar ||
गुर परसादी जिनि बुझिआ तिनि पाइआ मोख दुआरु ॥
By Guru's Grace, they understand Him, and they find the gate of salvation.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਨੀ ਤਿਨ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਮ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ॥
Manamukh Hukam N Jaananee Thin Maarae Jam Jandhaar ||
मनमुख हुकमु न जाणनी तिन मारे जम जंदारु ॥
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Lord's Command; they are beaten down by the Messenger of Death.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਤਿਨੀ ਤਰਿਆ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥
Guramukh Jinee Araadhhiaa Thinee Thariaa Bhoujal Sansaar ||
गुरमुखि जिनी अराधिआ तिनी तरिआ भउजलु संसारु ॥
But the Gurmukhs, who worship and adore the Lord, cross over the terrifying world-ocean.
ਸਭਿ ਅਉਗਣ ਗੁਣੀ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Sabh Aougan Gunee Mittaaeiaa Gur Aapae Bakhasanehaar ||2||
सभि अउगण गुणी मिटाइआ गुरु आपे बखसणहारु ॥२॥
All their demerits are erased, and replaced with merits. The Guru Himself is their Forgiver. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ॥
Har Kee Bhagathaa Paratheeth Har Sabh Kishh Jaanadhaa ||
हरि की भगता परतीति हरि सभ किछु जाणदा ॥
The Lord's devotees have faith in Him. The Lord knows everything.
ਹਰਿ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਰਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥
Har Jaevadd Naahee Koee Jaan Har Dhharam Beechaaradhaa ||
हरि जेवडु नाही कोई जाणु हरि धरमु बीचारदा ॥
No one is as great a Knower as the Lord; the Lord administers righteous justice.
ਕਾੜਾ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਧਰਮਿ ਮਾਰਦਾ ॥
Kaarraa Andhaesaa Kio Keejai Jaa Naahee Adhharam Maaradhaa ||
काड़ा अंदेसा किउ कीजै जा नाही अधरमि मारदा ॥
Why should we feel any burning anxiety, since the Lord does not punish without just cause?
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਨਿਆਉ ਪਾਪੀ ਨਰੁ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥
Sachaa Saahib Sach Niaao Paapee Nar Haaradhaa ||
सचा साहिबु सचु निआउ पापी नरु हारदा ॥
True is the Master, and True is His Justice; only the sinners are defeated.
ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਭਗਤਹੁ ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਤਾਰਦਾ ॥੧੮॥
Saalaahihu Bhagathahu Kar Jorr Har Bhagath Jan Thaaradhaa ||18||
सालाहिहु भगतहु कर जोड़ि हरि भगत जन तारदा ॥१८॥
O devotees, praise the Lord with your palms pressed together; the Lord saves His humble devotees. ||18||

ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਖਾ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Aapanae Preetham Mil Rehaa Anthar Rakhaa Our Dhhaar ||
आपणे प्रीतम मिलि रहा अंतरि रखा उरि धारि ॥
Oh, if only I could meet my Beloved, and keep Him enshrined deep within my heart!
ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਹੇਤਿ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥
Saalaahee So Prabh Sadhaa Sadhaa Gur Kai Haeth Piaar ||
सालाही सो प्रभ सदा सदा गुर कै हेति पिआरि ॥
I praise that God forever and ever, through love and affection for the Guru.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਸਾਈ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
Naanak Jis Nadhar Karae This Mael Leae Saaee Suhaagan Naar ||1||
नानक जिसु नदरि करे तिसु मेलि लए साई सुहागणि नारि ॥१॥
O Nanak, that one upon whom He bestows His Glance of Grace is united with Him; such a person is the true soul-bride of the Lord. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Gur Saevaa Thae Har Paaeeai Jaa Ko Nadhar Karaee ||
गुर सेवा ते हरि पाईऐ जा कउ नदरि करेइ ॥
Serving the Guru, the Lord is obtained, when He bestows His Glance of Grace.
ਮਾਣਸ ਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭਏ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੇ ॥
Maanas Thae Dhaevathae Bheae Dhhiaaeiaa Naam Harae ||
माणस ते देवते भए धिआइआ नामु हरे ॥
They are transformed from humans into angels, meditating on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰੇ ॥
Houmai Maar Milaaeian Gur Kai Sabadh Tharae ||
हउमै मारि मिलाइअनु गुर कै सबदि तरे ॥
They conquer their egotism and merge with the Lord; they are saved through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਇਅਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਣੀ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥੨॥
Naanak Sehaj Samaaeian Har Aapanee Kirapaa Karae ||2||
नानक सहजि समाइअनु हरि आपणी क्रिपा करे ॥२॥
O Nanak, they merge imperceptibly into the Lord, who has bestowed His Favor upon them. ||2||

हरि आपणी भगति कराइ वडिआई वेखालीअनु ॥
The Lord Himself inspires us to worship Him; He reveals His Glorious Greatness.
ਆਪਣੀ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਤੀਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਘਾਲੀਅਨੁ ॥
Aapanee Aap Karae Paratheeth Aapae Saev Ghaaleean ||
आपणी आपि करे परतीति आपे सेव घालीअनु ॥
He Himself inspires us to place our faith in Him. Thus He performs His Own Service.
