हुकमु सोई तुधु भावसी होरु आखणु बहुतु अपारु ॥
The Hukam of Your Command is the pleasure of Your Will, Lord. To say anything else is far beyond anyone's reach.

Kungoo Kee Kaaneiaa Rathanaa Kee Lalithaa Agar Vaas Than Saas ||
कुंगू की कांइआ रतना की ललिता अगरि वासु तनि सासु ॥
With the body of saffron, and the tongue a jewel, and the breath of the body pure fragrant incense;
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਕਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਟਿਕਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਘਟਿ ਮਤਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ॥
Athasath Theerathh Kaa Mukh Ttikaa Thith Ghatt Math Vigaas ||
अठसठि तीरथ का मुखि टिका तितु घटि मति विगासु ॥
With the face anointed at the sixty-eight holy places of pilgrimage, and the heart illuminated with wisdom
ਓਤੁ ਮਤੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
Outh Mathee Saalaahanaa Sach Naam Gunathaas ||1||
ओतु मती सालाहणा सचु नामु गुणतासु ॥१॥
-with that wisdom, chant the Praises of the True Name, the Treasure of Excellence. ||1||

बाबा होर मति होर होर ॥
O Baba, other wisdom is useless and irrelevant.
ਜੇ ਸਉ ਵੇਰ ਕਮਾਈਐ ਕੂੜੈ ਕੂੜਾ ਜੋਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Pooj Lagai Peer Aakheeai Sabh Milai Sansaar ||
पूज लगै पीरु आखीऐ सभु मिलै संसारु ॥
You may be worshipped and adored as a Pir (a spiritual teacher); you may be welcomed by all the world;
ਨਾਉ ਸਦਾਏ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਿਧੁ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥
Naao Sadhaaeae Aapanaa Hovai Sidhh Sumaar ||
नाउ सदाए आपणा होवै सिधु सुमारु ॥
You may adopt a lofty name, and be known to have supernatural spiritual powers
ਜਾ ਪਤਿ ਲੇਖੈ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਸਭਾ ਪੂਜ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੨॥
Jaa Path Laekhai Naa Pavai Sabhaa Pooj Khuaar ||2||
जा पति लेखै ना पवै सभा पूज खुआरु ॥२॥
-even so, if you are not accepted in the Court of the Lord, then all this adoration is false. ||2||
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਥਾਪਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਮੇਟਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Jin Ko Sathigur Thhaapiaa Thin Maett N Sakai Koe ||
जिन कउ सतिगुरि थापिआ तिन मेटि न सकै कोइ ॥
No one can overthrow those who have been established by the True Guru.
ਓਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਮੋ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Ounaa Andhar Naam Nidhhaan Hai Naamo Paragatt Hoe ||
ओना अंदरि नामु निधानु है नामो परगटु होइ ॥
The Treasure of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is within them, and through the Naam, they are radiant and famous.
ਨਾਉ ਪੂਜੀਐ ਨਾਉ ਮੰਨੀਐ ਅਖੰਡੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
Naao Poojeeai Naao Manneeai Akhandd Sadhaa Sach Soe ||3||
नाउ पूजीऐ नाउ मंनीऐ अखंडु सदा सचु सोइ ॥३॥
They worship the Naam, and they believe in the Naam. The True One is forever Intact and Unbroken. ||3||
ਖੇਹੂ ਖੇਹ ਰਲਾਈਐ ਤਾ ਜੀਉ ਕੇਹਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Khaehoo Khaeh Ralaaeeai Thaa Jeeo Kaehaa Hoe ||
खेहू खेह रलाईऐ ता जीउ केहा होइ ॥
When the body mingles with dust, what happens to the soul?
ਜਲੀਆ ਸਭਿ ਸਿਆਣਪਾ ਉਠੀ ਚਲਿਆ ਰੋਇ ॥
Jaleeaa Sabh Siaanapaa Outhee Chaliaa Roe ||
जलीआ सभि सिआणपा उठी चलिआ रोइ ॥
All clever tricks are burnt away, and you shall depart crying.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਐ ਦਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੮॥

गुणवंती गुण वीथरै अउगुणवंती झूरि ॥
The virtuous wife exudes virtue; the unvirtuous suffer in misery.
ਜੇ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਵਰੁ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਪਿਰ ਕੂਰਿ ॥

जे लोड़हि वरु कामणी नह मिलीऐ पिर कूरि ॥
If you long for your Husband Lord, O soul-bride, you must know that He is not met by falsehood.

ना बेड़ी ना तुलहड़ा ना पाईऐ पिरु दूरि ॥१॥
No boat or raft can take you to Him. Your Husband Lord is far away. ||1||

मेरे ठाकुर पूरै तखति अडोलु ॥

The Palace of the Lord God is so beautiful.

Mothee Heeraa Niramalaa Kanchan Kott Reesaal ||
मोती हीरा निरमला कंचन कोट रीसाल ॥
Within it, there are gems, rubies, pearls and flawless diamonds. A fortress of gold surrounds this Source of Nectar.

बिनु पउड़ी गड़ि किउ चड़उ गुर हरि धिआन निहाल ॥२॥
How can I climb up to the Fortress without a ladder? By meditating on the Lord, through the Guru, I am blessed and exalted. ||2||
ਗੁਰੁ ਪਉੜੀ ਬੇੜੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੁਲਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
Gur Pourree Baerree Guroo Gur Thulehaa Har Naao ||
गुरु पउड़ी बेड़ी गुरू गुरु तुलहा हरि नाउ ॥
The Guru is the Ladder, the Guru is the Boat, and the Guru is the Raft to take me to the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰੁ ਸਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੋ ਗੁਰੁ ਤੀਰਥੁ ਦਰੀਆਉ ॥
Gur Sar Saagar Bohithho Gur Theerathh Dhareeaao ||
गुरु सरु सागरु बोहिथो गुरु तीरथु दरीआउ ॥
The Guru is the Boat to carry me across the world-ocean; the Guru is the Sacred Shrine of Pilgrimage, the Guru is the Holy River.
ਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਊਜਲੀ ਸਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵਣ ਜਾਉ ॥੩॥
Jae This Bhaavai Oojalee Sath Sar Naavan Jaao ||3||
जे तिसु भावै ऊजली सत सरि नावण जाउ ॥३॥
If it pleases Him, I bathe in the Pool of Truth, and become radiant and pure. ||3||
ਪੂਰੋ ਪੂਰੋ ਆਖੀਐ ਪੂਰੈ ਤਖਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
Pooro Pooro Aakheeai Poorai Thakhath Nivaas ||
पूरो पूरो आखीऐ पूरै तखति निवास ॥
He is called the Most Perfect of the Perfect. He sits upon His Perfect Throne.
ਪੂਰੈ ਥਾਨਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੈ ਪੂਰੈ ਆਸ ਨਿਰਾਸ ॥
Poorai Thhaan Suhaavanai Poorai Aas Niraas ||
पूरै थानि सुहावणै पूरै आस निरास ॥
He looks so Beautiful in His Perfect Place. He fulfills the hopes of the hopeless.
ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਿਉ ਘਾਟੈ ਗੁਣ ਤਾਸ ॥੪॥੯॥

नानक पूरा जे मिलै किउ घाटै गुण तास ॥४॥९॥
