भाई रे अवरु नाही मै थाउ ॥
O Siblings of Destiny, I have no other place to go.
ਮੈ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मै धनु नामु निधानु है गुरि दीआ बलि जाउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥
Guramath Path Saabaas This This Kai Sang Milaao ||
गुरमति पति साबासि तिसु तिस कै संगि मिलाउ ॥
The Guru's Teachings bring honor. Blessed is He-may I meet and be with Him!
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੜੀ ਨ ਜੀਵਊ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
This Bin Gharree N Jeevoo Bin Naavai Mar Jaao ||
तिसु बिनु घड़ी न जीवऊ बिनु नावै मरि जाउ ॥
Without Him, I cannot live, even for a moment. Without His Name, I die.
ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਟੇਕ ਟਿਕੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥੨॥
Mai Andhhulae Naam N Veesarai Ttaek Ttikee Ghar Jaao ||2||
मै अंधुले नामु न वीसरै टेक टिकी घरि जाउ ॥२॥
I am blind-may I never forget the Naam! Under His Protection, I shall reach my true home. ||2||
ਗੁਰੂ ਜਿਨਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਧੁਲਾ ਚੇਲੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਠਾਉ ॥
Guroo Jinaa Kaa Andhhulaa Chaelae Naahee Thaao ||
गुरू जिना का अंधुला चेले नाही ठाउ ॥
Those chaylaas, those devotees, whose spiritual teacher is blind, shall not find their place of rest.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਕਿਆ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
Bin Sathigur Naao N Paaeeai Bin Naavai Kiaa Suaao ||
बिनु सतिगुर नाउ न पाईऐ बिनु नावै किआ सुआउ ॥
Without the True Guru, the Name is not obtained. Without the Name, what is the use of it all?
ਆਇ ਗਇਆ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਣਾ ਜਿਉ ਸੁੰਞੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਾਉ ॥੩॥
Aae Gaeiaa Pashhuthaavanaa Jio Sunnjai Ghar Kaao ||3||
आइ गइआ पछुतावणा जिउ सुंञै घरि काउ ॥३॥
People come and go, regretting and repenting, like crows in a deserted house. ||3||
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੇਹੁਰੀ ਜਿਉ ਕਲਰ ਕੀ ਭੀਤਿ ॥
Bin Naavai Dhukh Dhaehuree Jio Kalar Kee Bheeth ||
बिनु नावै दुखु देहुरी जिउ कलर की भीति ॥
Without the Name, the body suffers in pain; it crumbles like a wall of sand.
ਤਬ ਲਗੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਬ ਲਗੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਨ ਚੀਤਿ ॥
Thab Lag Mehal N Paaeeai Jab Lag Saach N Cheeth ||
तब लगु महलु न पाईऐ जब लगु साचु न चीति ॥
As long as Truth does not enter into the consciousness, the Mansion of the Lord's Presence is not found.
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਪੈ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ਪਦੁ ਨੀਤਿ ॥੪॥
Sabadh Rapai Ghar Paaeeai Nirabaanee Padh Neeth ||4||
सबदि रपै घरु पाईऐ निरबाणी पदु नीति ॥४॥
Attuned to the Shabad, we enter our home, and obtain the Eternal State of Nirvaanaa. ||4||
ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਛਉ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੁਛਿ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਉ ॥
Ho Gur Pooshho Aapanae Gur Pushh Kaar Kamaao ||
हउ गुर पूछउ आपणे गुर पुछि कार कमाउ ॥
I ask my Guru for His Advice, and I follow the Guru's Advice.
ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
Sabadh Salaahee Man Vasai Houmai Dhukh Jal Jaao ||
सबदि सलाही मनि वसै हउमै दुखु जलि जाउ ॥
With the Shabads of Praise abiding in the mind, the pain of egotism is burnt away.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੋਇ ਮਿਲਾਵੜਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਾਚਿ ਮਿਲਾਉ ॥੫॥
Sehajae Hoe Milaavarraa Saachae Saach Milaao ||5||
सहजे होइ मिलावड़ा साचे साचि मिलाउ ॥५॥
We are intuitively united with Him, and we meet the Truest of the True. ||5||
ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਤਜਿ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
Sabadh Rathae Sae Niramalae Thaj Kaam Krodhh Ahankaar ||
सबदि रते से निरमले तजि काम क्रोधु अहंकारु ॥
Those who are attuned to the Shabad are spotless and pure; they renounce sexual desire, anger, selfishness and conceit.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
Naam Salaahan Sadh Sadhaa Har Raakhehi Our Dhhaar ||
नामु सलाहनि सद सदा हरि राखहि उर धारि ॥
They sing the Praises of the Naam, forever and ever; they keep the Lord enshrined within their hearts.
ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਮਨਹੁ ਵਿਸਾਰੀਐ ਸਭ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੬॥
So Kio Manahu Visaareeai Sabh Jeeaa Kaa Aadhhaar ||6||
सो किउ मनहु विसारीऐ सभ जीआ का आधारु ॥६॥
How could we ever forget Him from our minds? He is the Support of all beings. ||6||
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋ ਮਰਿ ਰਹੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਦੂਜੀ ਵਾਰ ॥
Sabadh Marai So Mar Rehai Fir Marai N Dhoojee Vaar ||
सबदि मरै सो मरि रहै फिरि मरै न दूजी वार ॥
One who dies in the Shabad is beyond death, and shall never die again.
ਸਬਦੈ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਲਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Sabadhai Hee Thae Paaeeai Har Naamae Lagai Piaar ||
सबदै ही ते पाईऐ हरि नामे लगै पिआरु ॥
Through the Shabad, we find Him, and embrace love for the Name of the Lord.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਜਗੁ ਭੂਲਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਮਰਿ ਜਨਮੈ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥੭॥
Bin Sabadhai Jag Bhoolaa Firai Mar Janamai Vaaro Vaar ||7||
बिनु सबदै जगु भूला फिरै मरि जनमै वारो वार ॥७॥
Without the Shabad, the world is deceived; it dies and is reborn, over and over again. ||7||
ਸਭ ਸਾਲਾਹੈ ਆਪ ਕਉ ਵਡਹੁ ਵਡੇਰੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sabh Saalaahai Aap Ko Vaddahu Vaddaeree Hoe ||
सभ सालाहै आप कउ वडहु वडेरी होइ ॥
All praise themselves, and call themselves the greatest of the great.
ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਆਪੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੀਐ ਕਹੇ ਸੁਣੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥
Gur Bin Aap N Cheeneeai Kehae Sunae Kiaa Hoe ||
गुर बिनु आपु न चीनीऐ कहे सुणे किआ होइ ॥
Without the Guru, one's self cannot be known. By merely speaking and listening, what is accomplished?
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੮॥੮॥

नानक सबदि पछाणीऐ हउमै करै न कोइ ॥८॥८॥
O Nanak, one who realizes the Shabad does not act in egotism. ||8||8||

Bin Pir Dhhan Seegaareeai Joban Baadh Khuaar ||
बिनु पिर धन सीगारीऐ जोबनु बादि खुआरु ॥
Without her Husband, the soul-bride's youth and ornaments are useless and wretched.
ਨਾ ਮਾਣੇ ਸੁਖਿ ਸੇਜੜੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਪਿਰ ਬਾਦਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
Naa Maanae Sukh Saejarree Bin Pir Baadh Seegaar ||
ना माणे सुखि सेजड़ी बिनु पिर बादि सीगारु ॥
She does not enjoy the pleasure of His Bed; without her Husband, her ornaments are absurd.
ਦੂਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਨਾ ਘਰਿ ਸੇਜ ਭਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Dhookh Ghano Dhohaaganee Naa Ghar Saej Bhathaar ||1||
दूखु घणो दोहागणी ना घरि सेज भतारु ॥१॥
The discarded bride suffers terrible pain; her Husband does not come to the bed of her home. ||1||
ਮਨ ਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਜਪਹੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Man Rae Raam Japahu Sukh Hoe ||
मन रे राम जपहु सुखु होइ ॥
O mind, meditate on the Lord, and find peace.
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

बिनु गुर प्रेमु न पाईऐ सबदि मिलै रंगु होइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Without the Guru, love is not found. United with the Shabad, happiness is found. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ॥
Gur Saevaa Sukh Paaeeai Har Var Sehaj Seegaar ||
गुर सेवा सुखु पाईऐ हरि वरु सहजि सीगारु ॥
Serving the Guru, she finds peace, and her Husband Lord adorns her with intuitive wisdom.
ਸਚਿ ਮਾਣੇ ਪਿਰ ਸੇਜੜੀ ਗੂੜਾ ਹੇਤੁ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥
Sach Maanae Pir Saejarree Goorraa Haeth Piaar ||
सचि माणे पिर सेजड़ी गूड़ा हेतु पिआरु ॥
Truly, she enjoys the Bed of her Husband, through her deep love and affection.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣਿ ਸਿਞਾਣੀਐ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਗੁਣ ਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Guramukh Jaan Sinjaaneeai Gur Maelee Gun Chaar ||2||
गुरमुखि जाणि सिञाणीऐ गुरि मेली गुण चारु ॥२॥
As Gurmukh, she comes to know Him. Meeting with the Guru, she maintains a virtuous lifestyle. ||2||
ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਵਰ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਪਿਰਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
Sach Milahu Var Kaamanee Pir Mohee Rang Laae ||
सचि मिलहु वर कामणी पिरि मोही रंगु लाइ ॥
Through Truth, meet your Husband Lord, O soul-bride. Enchanted by your Husband, enshrine love for Him.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚਿ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Man Than Saach Vigasiaa Keemath Kehan N Jaae ||
मनु तनु साचि विगसिआ कीमति कहणु न जाइ ॥
Your mind and body shall blossom forth in Truth. The value of this cannot be described.
ਹਰਿ ਵਰੁ ਘਰਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਚੈ ਨਾਇ ॥੩॥
Har Var Ghar Sohaaganee Niramal Saachai Naae ||3||
हरि वरु घरि सोहागणी निरमल साचै नाइ ॥३॥
The soul-bride finds her Husband Lord in the home of her own being; she is purified by the True Name. ||3||
ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਨੂਆ ਜੇ ਮਰੈ ਤਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੈ ਨਾਰਿ ॥
Man Mehi Manooaa Jae Marai Thaa Pir Raavai Naar ||
मन महि मनूआ जे मरै ता पिरु रावै नारि ॥
If the mind within the mind dies, then the Husband ravishes and enjoys His bride.
ਇਕਤੁ ਤਾਗੈ ਰਲਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਗਲਿ ਮੋਤੀਅਨ ਕਾ ਹਾਰੁ ॥
Eikath Thaagai Ral Milai Gal Motheean Kaa Haar ||
इकतु तागै रलि मिलै गलि मोतीअन का हारु ॥
They are woven into one texture, like pearls on a necklace around the neck.
ਸੰਤ ਸਭਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਊਪਜੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥੪॥
Santh Sabhaa Sukh Oopajai Guramukh Naam Adhhaar ||4||
संत सभा सुखु ऊपजै गुरमुखि नाम अधारु ॥४॥
In the Society of the Saints, peace wells up; the Gurmukhs take the Support of the Naam. ||4||
ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਖਿਨਿ ਖਪੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਆਵੈ ਖਿਨੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
Khin Mehi Oupajai Khin Khapai Khin Aavai Khin Jaae ||
खिन महि उपजै खिनि खपै खिनु आवै खिनु जाइ ॥
In an instant, one is born, and in an instant, one dies. In an instant one comes, and in an instant one goes.
ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਰਵਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਸੰਤਾਇ ॥
Sabadh Pashhaanai Rav Rehai Naa This Kaal Santhaae ||
सबदु पछाणै रवि रहै ना तिसु कालु संताइ ॥
One who recognizes the Shabad merges into it, and is not afflicted by death.
