बिनु सतिगुर किनै न पाइओ करि वेखहु मनि वीचारि ॥
Without the True Guru, no one has found Him; reflect upon this in your mind and see.

मनमुख मैलु न उतरै जिचरु गुर सबदि न करे पिआरु ॥१॥
The filth of the self-willed manmukhs is not washed off; they have no love for the Guru's Shabad. ||1||

Man Maerae Sathigur Kai Bhaanai Chal ||
मन मेरे सतिगुर कै भाणै चलु ॥
O my mind, walk in harmony with the True Guru.
ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਵਸਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਵਹਿ ਤਾ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਹਿ ਮਹਲੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Nij Ghar Vasehi Anmrith Peevehi Thaa Sukh Lehehi Mehal ||1|| Rehaao ||
निज घरि वसहि अम्रितु पीवहि ता सुख लहहि महलु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Dwell within the home of your own inner being, and drink in the Ambrosial Nectar; you shall attain the Peace of the Mansion of His Presence. ||1||Pause||
ਅਉਗੁਣਵੰਤੀ ਗੁਣੁ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਬਹਣਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥
Aougunavanthee Gun Ko Nehee Behan N Milai Hadhoor ||
अउगुणवंती गुणु को नही बहणि न मिलै हदूरि ॥
The unvirtuous have no merit; they are not allowed to sit in His Presence.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਅਵਗਣਿ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
Manamukh Sabadh N Jaanee Avagan So Prabh Dhoor ||
मनमुखि सबदु न जाणई अवगणि सो प्रभु दूरि ॥
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Shabad; those without virtue are far removed from God.
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥
Jinee Sach Pashhaaniaa Sach Rathae Bharapoor ||
जिनी सचु पछाणिआ सचि रते भरपूरि ॥
Those who recognize the True One are permeated and attuned to Truth.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥੨॥
Gur Sabadhee Man Baedhhiaa Prabh Miliaa Aap Hadhoor ||2||
गुर सबदी मनु बेधिआ प्रभु मिलिआ आपि हदूरि ॥२॥
Their minds are pierced through by the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and God Himself ushers them into His Presence. ||2||
ਆਪੇ ਰੰਗਣਿ ਰੰਗਿਓਨੁ ਸਬਦੇ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Aapae Rangan Rangioun Sabadhae Laeioun Milaae ||
आपे रंगणि रंगिओनु सबदे लइओनु मिलाइ ॥
He Himself dyes us in the Color of His Love; through the Word of His Shabad, He unites us with Himself.
ਸਚਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਜੋ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Sachaa Rang N Outharai Jo Sach Rathae Liv Laae ||
सचा रंगु न उतरै जो सचि रते लिव लाइ ॥
This True Color shall not fade away, for those who are attuned to His Love.
ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਭਵਿ ਥਕੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Chaarae Kunddaa Bhav Thhakae Manamukh Boojh N Paae ||
चारे कुंडा भवि थके मनमुख बूझ न पाइ ॥
The self-willed manmukhs grow weary of wandering around in all four directions, but they do not understand.
ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲੇ ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥
Jis Sathigur Maelae So Milai Sachai Sabadh Samaae ||3||
जिसु सतिगुरु मेले सो मिलै सचै सबदि समाइ ॥३॥
One who is united with the True Guru, meets and merges in the True Word of the Shabad. ||3||
ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਘਣੇਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਥਕੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਾਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Mithr Ghanaerae Kar Thhakee Maeraa Dhukh Kaattai Koe ||
मित्र घणेरे करि थकी मेरा दुखु काटै कोइ ॥
I have grown weary of making so many friends, hoping that someone might be able to end my suffering.
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟਿਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Mil Preetham Dhukh Kattiaa Sabadh Milaavaa Hoe ||
मिलि प्रीतम दुखु कटिआ सबदि मिलावा होइ ॥
Meeting with my Beloved, my suffering has ended; I have attained Union with the Word of the Shabad.
ਸਚੁ ਖਟਣਾ ਸਚੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਚੇ ਸਚੀ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sach Khattanaa Sach Raas Hai Sachae Sachee Soe ||
सचु खटणा सचु रासि है सचे सची सोइ ॥
Earning Truth, and accumulating the Wealth of Truth, the truthful person gains a reputation of Truth.
ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੇ ਨ ਵਿਛੁੜਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੫੯॥
Sach Milae Sae N Vishhurrehi Naanak Guramukh Hoe ||4||26||59||
सचि मिले से न विछुड़हि नानक गुरमुखि होइ ॥४॥२६॥५९॥
Meeting with the True One, O Nanak, the Gurmukh shall not be separated from Him again. ||4||26||59||

Aapae Kaaran Karathaa Karae Srisatt Dhaekhai Aap Oupaae ||
आपे कारणु करता करे स्रिसटि देखै आपि उपाइ ॥
The Creator Himself created the Creation; He produced the Universe, and He Himself watches over it.
ਸਭ ਏਕੋ ਇਕੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਅਲਖੁ ਨ ਲਖਿਆ ਜਾਇ ॥
Sabh Eaeko Eik Varathadhaa Alakh N Lakhiaa Jaae ||
सभ एको इकु वरतदा अलखु न लखिआ जाइ ॥
The One and Only Lord is pervading and permeating all. The Unseen cannot be seen.
ਆਪੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ ॥
Aapae Prabhoo Dhaeiaal Hai Aapae Dhaee Bujhaae ||
आपे प्रभू दइआलु है आपे देइ बुझाइ ॥
God Himself is Merciful; He Himself bestows understanding.
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਦ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Guramathee Sadh Man Vasiaa Sach Rehae Liv Laae ||1||
गुरमती सद मनि वसिआ सचि रहे लिव लाइ ॥१॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, the True One dwells forever in the mind of those who remain lovingly attached to Him. ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੰਨਿ ਲੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥
Man Maerae Gur Kee Mann Lai Rajaae ||
मन मेरे गुर की मंनि लै रजाइ ॥
O my mind, surrender to the Guru's Will.
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਭੁ ਥੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Man Than Seethal Sabh Thheeai Naam Vasai Man Aae ||1|| Rehaao ||
मनु तनु सीतलु सभु थीऐ नामु वसै मनि आइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Mind and body are totally cooled and soothed, and the Naam comes to dwell in the mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਧਾਰਿਆ ਸੋਈ ਸਾਰ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Jin Kar Kaaran Dhhaariaa Soee Saar Karaee ||
जिनि करि कारणु धारिआ सोई सार करेइ ॥
Having created the creation, He supports it and takes care of it.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਣੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Pashhaaneeai Jaa Aapae Nadhar Karaee ||
गुर कै सबदि पछाणीऐ जा आपे नदरि करेइ ॥
The Word of the Guru's Shabad is realized, when He Himself bestows His Glance of Grace.
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਬਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਤਿਤੁ ਸਚੈ ਦਰਬਾਰਿ ॥
Sae Jan Sabadhae Sohanae Thith Sachai Dharabaar ||
से जन सबदे सोहणे तितु सचै दरबारि ॥
Those who are beautifully adorned with the Shabad in the Court of the True Lord
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਤੇ ਆਪਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
Guramukh Sachai Sabadh Rathae Aap Maelae Karathaar ||2||
गुरमुखि सचै सबदि रते आपि मेले करतारि ॥२॥
-those Gurmukhs are attuned to the True Word of the Shabad; the Creator unites them with Himself. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਣਾ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
Guramathee Sach Salaahanaa Jis Dhaa Anth N Paaraavaar ||
गुरमती सचु सलाहणा जिस दा अंतु न पारावारु ॥
Through the Guru's Teachings, praise the True One, who has no end or limitation.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਵਸੈ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਕਰੇ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Ghatt Ghatt Aapae Hukam Vasai Hukamae Karae Beechaar ||
घटि घटि आपे हुकमि वसै हुकमे करे बीचारु ॥
He dwells in each and every heart, by the Hukam of His Command; by His Hukam, we contemplate Him.
ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਾਲਾਹੀਐ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਖੋਇ ॥
Gur Sabadhee Saalaaheeai Houmai Vichahu Khoe ||
गुर सबदी सालाहीऐ हउमै विचहु खोइ ॥
So praise Him through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and drive out egotism from within.
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਨਾਵੈ ਬਾਹਰੀ ਅਵਗਣਵੰਤੀ ਰੋਇ ॥੩॥
Saa Dhhan Naavai Baaharee Avaganavanthee Roe ||3||
सा धन नावै बाहरी अवगणवंती रोइ ॥३॥
That soul-bride who lacks the Lord's Name acts without virtue, and so she grieves. ||3||
ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਸਚਿ ਲਗਾ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਇ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sach Salaahee Sach Lagaa Sachai Naae Thripath Hoe ||
सचु सलाही सचि लगा सचै नाइ त्रिपति होइ ॥
Praising the True One, attached to the True One, I am satisfied with the True Name.
ਗੁਣ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਾ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਕਢਾ ਧੋਇ ॥
Gun Veechaaree Gun Sangrehaa Avagun Kadtaa Dhhoe ||
गुण वीचारी गुण संग्रहा अवगुण कढा धोइ ॥
Contemplating His Virtues, I accumulate virtue and merit; I wash myself clean of demerits.
ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਵੇਛੋੜਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aapae Mael Milaaeidhaa Fir Vaeshhorraa N Hoe ||
आपे मेलि मिलाइदा फिरि वेछोड़ा न होइ ॥
He Himself unites us in His Union; there is no more separation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਾਲਾਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਜਿਦੂ ਪਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੨੭॥੬੦॥

नानक गुरु सालाही आपणा जिदू पाई प्रभु सोइ ॥४॥२७॥६०॥

सुणि सुणि काम गहेलीए किआ चलहि बाह लुडाइ ॥
Listen, listen, O soul-bride: you are overtaken by sexual desire-why do you walk like that, swinging your arms in joy?
ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣਹੀ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
Aapanaa Pir N Pashhaanehee Kiaa Muhu Dhaesehi Jaae ||
आपणा पिरु न पछाणही किआ मुहु देसहि जाइ ॥
You do not recognize your own Husband Lord! When you go to Him, what face will you show Him?
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਕੰਤੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥

जिनी सखींं कंतु पछाणिआ हउ तिन कै लागउ पाइ ॥
I touch the feet of my sister soul-brides who have known their Husband Lord.
ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਥੀ ਰਹਾ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Thin Hee Jaisee Thhee Rehaa Sathasangath Mael Milaae ||1||
तिन ही जैसी थी रहा सतसंगति मेलि मिलाइ ॥१॥
If only I could be like them! Joining the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, I am united in His Union. ||1||
