ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥
Suniai Sath Santhokh Giaan ||
सुणिऐ सतु संतोखु गिआनु ॥
Listening-truth, contentment and spiritual wisdom.
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਕਾ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
Suniai Athasath Kaa Eisanaan ||
सुणिऐ अठसठि का इसनानु ॥
Listening-take your cleansing bath at the sixty-eight places of pilgrimage.
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Suniai Parr Parr Paavehi Maan ||
सुणिऐ पड़ि पड़ि पावहि मानु ॥
Listening-reading and reciting, honor is obtained.
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Suniai Laagai Sehaj Dhhiaan ||
सुणिऐ लागै सहजि धिआनु ॥
Listening-intuitively grasp the essence of meditation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ॥
Naanak Bhagathaa Sadhaa Vigaas ||
नानक भगता सदा विगासु ॥
O Nanak, the devotees are forever in bliss.

सुणिऐ सरा गुणा के गाह ॥
Listening-dive deep into the ocean of virtue.
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਸੇਖ ਪੀਰ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ॥
Suniai Saekh Peer Paathisaah ||
सुणिऐ सेख पीर पातिसाह ॥
Listening-the Shaykhs, religious scholars, spiritual teachers and emperors.
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਅੰਧੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਰਾਹੁ ॥
Suniai Andhhae Paavehi Raahu ||
सुणिऐ अंधे पावहि राहु ॥
Listening-even the blind find the Path.
ਸੁਣਿਐ ਹਾਥ ਹੋਵੈ ਅਸਗਾਹੁ ॥
Suniai Haathh Hovai Asagaahu ||
सुणिऐ हाथ होवै असगाहु ॥
Listening-the Unreachable comes within your grasp.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਗਾਸੁ ॥

नानक भगता सदा विगासु ॥

ਮੰਨੇ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Mannae Kee Gath Kehee N Jaae ||
मंने की गति कही न जाइ ॥
The state of the faithful cannot be described.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥
Jae Ko Kehai Pishhai Pashhuthaae ||
जे को कहै पिछै पछुताइ ॥
One who tries to describe this shall regret the attempt.
ਕਾਗਦਿ ਕਲਮ ਨ ਲਿਖਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
Kaagadh Kalam N Likhanehaar ||
कागदि कलम न लिखणहारु ॥
No paper, no pen, no scribe
ਮੰਨੇ ਕਾ ਬਹਿ ਕਰਨਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Mannae Kaa Behi Karan Veechaar ||
मंने का बहि करनि वीचारु ॥
Can record the state of the faithful.
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aisaa Naam Niranjan Hoe ||
ऐसा नामु निरंजनु होइ ॥
Such is the Name of the Immaculate Lord.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੨॥
Jae Ko Mann Jaanai Man Koe ||12||
जे को मंनि जाणै मनि कोइ ॥१२॥
Only one who has faith comes to know such a state of mind. ||12||
ਮੰਨੈ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਬੁਧਿ ॥
Mannai Surath Hovai Man Budhh ||
मंनै सुरति होवै मनि बुधि ॥
The faithful have intuitive awareness and intelligence.
ਮੰਨੈ ਸਗਲ ਭਵਣ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ॥
Mannai Sagal Bhavan Kee Sudhh ||
मंनै सगल भवण की सुधि ॥
The faithful know about all worlds and realms.
ਮੰਨੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਨਾ ਖਾਇ ॥
Mannai Muhi Chottaa Naa Khaae ||
मंनै मुहि चोटा ना खाइ ॥
The faithful shall never be struck across the face.
ਮੰਨੈ ਜਮ ਕੈ ਸਾਥਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥
Mannai Jam Kai Saathh N Jaae ||
मंनै जम कै साथि न जाइ ॥
The faithful do not have to go with the Messenger of Death.
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥
Aisaa Naam Niranjan Hoe ||
ऐसा नामु निरंजनु होइ ॥
Such is the Name of the Immaculate Lord.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਨਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਇ ॥੧੩॥
Jae Ko Mann Jaanai Man Koe ||13||
जे को मंनि जाणै मनि कोइ ॥१३॥
Only one who has faith comes to know such a state of mind. ||13||
ਮੰਨੈ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Mannai Maarag Thaak N Paae ||
मंनै मारगि ठाक न पाइ ॥
The path of the faithful shall never be blocked.
ਮੰਨੈ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
Mannai Path Sio Paragatt Jaae ||
मंनै पति सिउ परगटु जाइ ॥
The faithful shall depart with honor and fame.
ਮੰਨੈ ਮਗੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਪੰਥੁ ॥
Mannai Mag N Chalai Panthh ||
मंनै मगु न चलै पंथु ॥
The faithful do not follow empty religious rituals.
ਮੰਨੈ ਧਰਮ ਸੇਤੀ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ॥
Mannai Dhharam Saethee Sanabandhh ||
मंनै धरम सेती सनबंधु ॥
The faithful are firmly bound to the Dharma.
ਐਸਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

ऐसा नामु निरंजनु होइ ॥
Such is the Name of the Immaculate Lord.

जे को मंनि जाणै मनि कोइ ॥१४॥
Only one who has faith comes to know such a state of mind. ||14||
ਮੰਨੈ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮੋਖੁ ਦੁਆਰੁ ॥
Mannai Paavehi Mokh Dhuaar ||
मंनै पावहि मोखु दुआरु ॥
The faithful find the Door of Liberation.
ਮੰਨੈ ਪਰਵਾਰੈ ਸਾਧਾਰੁ ॥
Mannai Paravaarai Saadhhaar ||
मंनै परवारै साधारु ॥
The faithful uplift and redeem their family and relations.
ਮੰਨੈ ਤਰੈ ਤਾਰੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਿਖ ॥
Mannai Tharai Thaarae Gur Sikh ||
मंनै तरै तारे गुरु सिख ॥
The faithful are saved, and carried across with the Sikhs of the Guru.
ਮੰਨੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਵਹਿ ਨ ਭਿਖ ॥
Mannai Naanak Bhavehi N Bhikh ||
मंनै नानक भवहि न भिख ॥
The faithful, O Nanak, do not wander around begging.

ਪੰਚ ਪਰਵਾਣ ਪੰਚ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
Panch Paravaan Panch Paradhhaan ||
पंच परवाण पंच परधानु ॥
The chosen ones, the self-elect, are accepted and approved.
ਪੰਚੇ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
Panchae Paavehi Dharagehi Maan ||
पंचे पावहि दरगहि मानु ॥
The chosen ones are honored in the Court of the Lord.
ਪੰਚੇ ਸੋਹਹਿ ਦਰਿ ਰਾਜਾਨੁ ॥
Panchae Sohehi Dhar Raajaan ||
पंचे सोहहि दरि राजानु ॥
The chosen ones look beautiful in the courts of kings.
ਪੰਚਾ ਕਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
Panchaa Kaa Gur Eaek Dhhiaan ||
पंचा का गुरु एकु धिआनु ॥
The chosen ones meditate single-mindedly on the Guru.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਰੈ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Jae Ko Kehai Karai Veechaar ||
जे को कहै करै वीचारु ॥
No matter how much anyone tries to explain and describe them,
ਕਰਤੇ ਕੈ ਕਰਣੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥
Karathae Kai Karanai Naahee Sumaar ||
करते कै करणै नाही सुमारु ॥
The actions of the Creator cannot be counted.
ਧੌਲੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਾ ਪੂਤੁ ॥
Dhhaal Dhharam Dhaeiaa Kaa Pooth ||
धौलु धरमु दइआ का पूतु ॥
The mythical bull is Dharma, the son of compassion;
ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਥਾਪਿ ਰਖਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਸੂਤਿ ॥
Santhokh Thhaap Rakhiaa Jin Sooth ||
संतोखु थापि रखिआ जिनि सूति ॥
This is what patiently holds the earth in its place.
ਜੇ ਕੋ ਬੁਝੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੁ ॥
Jae Ko Bujhai Hovai Sachiaar ||
जे को बुझै होवै सचिआरु ॥
One who understands this becomes truthful.
ਧਵਲੈ ਉਪਰਿ ਕੇਤਾ ਭਾਰੁ ॥
Dhhavalai Oupar Kaethaa Bhaar ||
धवलै उपरि केता भारु ॥
What a great load there is on the bull!
ਧਰਤੀ ਹੋਰੁ ਪਰੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਹੋਰੁ ॥
Dhharathee Hor Parai Hor Hor ||
धरती होरु परै होरु होरु ॥
So many worlds beyond this world-so very many!
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਭਾਰੁ ਤਲੈ ਕਵਣੁ ਜੋਰੁ ॥
This Thae Bhaar Thalai Kavan Jor ||
तिस ते भारु तलै कवणु जोरु ॥
What power holds them, and supports their weight?
ਜੀਅ ਜਾਤਿ ਰੰਗਾ ਕੇ ਨਾਵ ॥
Jeea Jaath Rangaa Kae Naav ||
जीअ जाति रंगा के नाव ॥
The names and the colors of the assorted species of beings
ਸਭਨਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਵੁੜੀ ਕਲਾਮ ॥
Sabhanaa Likhiaa Vurree Kalaam ||
सभना लिखिआ वुड़ी कलाम ॥
Were all inscribed by the Ever-flowing Pen of God.
ਏਹੁ ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Eaehu Laekhaa Likh Jaanai Koe ||
एहु लेखा लिखि जाणै कोइ ॥
Who knows how to write this account?
ਲੇਖਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਕੇਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥
Laekhaa Likhiaa Kaethaa Hoe ||
लेखा लिखिआ केता होइ ॥
Just imagine what a huge scroll it would take!
ਕੇਤਾ ਤਾਣੁ ਸੁਆਲਿਹੁ ਰੂਪੁ ॥
Kaethaa Thaan Suaalihu Roop ||
केता ताणु सुआलिहु रूपु ॥
What power! What fascinating beauty!
ਕੇਤੀ ਦਾਤਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੌਣੁ ਕੂਤੁ ॥
Kaethee Dhaath Jaanai Kaan Kooth ||
केती दाति जाणै कौणु कूतु ॥
And what gifts! Who can know their extent?
ਕੀਤਾ ਪਸਾਉ ਏਕੋ ਕਵਾਉ ॥
Keethaa Pasaao Eaeko Kavaao ||
कीता पसाउ एको कवाउ ॥
You created the vast expanse of the Universe with One Word!
ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਲਖ ਦਰੀਆਉ ॥
This Thae Hoeae Lakh Dhareeaao ||
तिस ते होए लख दरीआउ ॥
Hundreds of thousands of rivers began to flow.
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਵਣ ਕਹਾ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
Kudharath Kavan Kehaa Veechaar ||
कुदरति कवण कहा वीचारु ॥
How can Your Creative Potency be described?
ਵਾਰਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਵਾ ਏਕ ਵਾਰ ॥
Vaariaa N Jaavaa Eaek Vaar ||
वारिआ न जावा एक वार ॥
I cannot even once be a sacrifice to You.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸਾਈ ਭਲੀ ਕਾਰ ॥
Jo Thudhh Bhaavai Saaee Bhalee Kaar ||
जो तुधु भावै साई भली कार ॥
Whatever pleases You is the only good done,
ਤੂ ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਮਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ॥੧੬॥

Countless worship services, countless austere disciplines.

असंख गरंथ मुखि वेद पाठ ॥
