The One Lord is the Doer, the Cause of causes, who has created the creation.
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

तिसहि धिआवहु मन मेरे सरब को आधारु ॥१॥
Meditate on the One, O my mind, who is the Support of all. ||1||

छोडि सगल सिआणपा साचि सबदि लिव लाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Give up all your clever mental tricks, and lovingly attune yourself to the True Word of the Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਦੁਖੁ ਕਲੇਸੁ ਨ ਭਉ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹੋਇ ॥
Dhukh Kalaes N Bho Biaapai Gur Manthra Hiradhai Hoe ||
दुखु कलेसु न भउ बिआपै गुर मंत्रु हिरदै होइ ॥
Suffering, agony and fear do not cling to one whose heart is filled with the GurMantra.
ਕੋਟਿ ਜਤਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਤਰਿਓ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
Kott Jathanaa Kar Rehae Gur Bin Thariou N Koe ||2||
कोटि जतना करि रहे गुर बिनु तरिओ न कोइ ॥२॥
Trying millions of things, people have grown weary, but without the Guru, none have been saved. ||2||
ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧਾਰੈ ਪਾਪ ਸਗਲੇ ਜਾਹਿ ॥
Dhaekh Dharasan Man Saadhhaarai Paap Sagalae Jaahi ||
देखि दरसनु मनु साधारै पाप सगले जाहि ॥
Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, the mind is comforted and all sins depart.
ਹਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
Ho Thin Kai Balihaaranai J Gur Kee Pairee Paahi ||3||
हउ तिन कै बलिहारणै जि गुर की पैरी पाहि ॥३॥
I am a sacrifice to those who fall at the Feet of the Guru. ||3||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ॥
Saadhhasangath Man Vasai Saach Har Kaa Naao ||
साधसंगति मनि वसै साचु हरि का नाउ ॥
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, the True Name of the Lord comes to dwell in the mind.
ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਜਿਨਾ ਮਨਿ ਇਹੁ ਭਾਉ ॥੪॥੨੪॥੯੪॥

से वडभागी नानका जिना मनि इहु भाउ ॥४॥२४॥९४॥
Very fortunate are those, O Nanak, whose minds are filled with this love. ||4||24||94||

संचि हरि धनु पूजि सतिगुरु छोडि सगल विकार ॥
Gather in the Wealth of the Lord, worship the True Guru, and give up all your corrupt ways.
ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਾਜਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
Jin Thoon Saaj Savaariaa Har Simar Hoe Oudhhaar ||1||
जिनि तूं साजि सवारिआ हरि सिमरि होइ उधारु ॥१॥
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord who created and adorned you, and you shall be saved. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਏਕੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ॥

जपि मन नामु एकु अपारु ॥
O mind, chant the Name of the One, the Unique and Infinite Lord.
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਹਿ ਦੀਆ ਰਿਦੇ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

प्रान मनु तनु जिनहि दीआ रिदे का आधारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He gave you the praanaa, the breath of life, and your mind and body. He is the Support of the heart. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਮਿ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਵਿਆਪਿਆ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

कामि क्रोधि अहंकारि माते विआपिआ संसारु ॥
The world is drunk, engrossed in sexual desire, anger and egotism.
ਪਉ ਸੰਤ ਸਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੁ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਦੂਖੁ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Po Santh Saranee Laag Charanee Mittai Dhookh Andhhaar ||2||
पउ संत सरणी लागु चरणी मिटै दूखु अंधारु ॥२॥
Seek the Sanctuary of the Saints, and fall at their feet; your suffering and darkness shall be removed. ||2||
ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਏਹ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰ ॥
Sath Santhokh Dhaeiaa Kamaavai Eaeh Karanee Saar ||
सतु संतोखु दइआ कमावै एह करणी सार ॥
Practice truth, contentment and kindness; this is the most excellent way of life.
ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਸਭ ਹੋਇ ਰੇਣਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੩॥
Aap Shhodd Sabh Hoe Raenaa Jis Dhaee Prabh Nirankaar ||3||
आपु छोडि सभ होइ रेणा जिसु देइ प्रभु निरंकारु ॥३॥
One who is so blessed by the Formless Lord God renounces selfishness, and becomes the dust of all. ||3||
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥
Jo Dheesai So Sagal Thoonhai Pasariaa Paasaar ||
जो दीसै सो सगल तूंहै पसरिआ पासारु ॥
All that is seen is You, Lord, the expansion of the expanse.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਸਗਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੫॥੯੫॥

कहु नानक गुरि भरमु काटिआ सगल ब्रहम बीचारु ॥४॥२५॥९५॥
Says Nanak, the Guru has removed my doubts; I recognize God in all. ||4||25||95||

दुक्रित सुक्रित मंधे संसारु सगलाणा ॥
The whole world is engrossed in bad deeds and good deeds.
ਦੁਹਹੂੰ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ਭਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਜਾਣਾ ॥੧॥
Dhuhehoon Thae Rehath Bhagath Hai Koee Viralaa Jaanaa ||1||
दुहहूं ते रहत भगतु है कोई विरला जाणा ॥१॥
God's devotee is above both, but those who understand this are very rare. ||1||
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸਰਬੇ ਸਮਾਣਾ ॥
Thaakur Sarabae Samaanaa ||
ठाकुरु सरबे समाणा ॥
Our Lord and Master is all-pervading everywhere.
ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ਸੁਣਉ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੂੰ ਵਡ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੁਜਾਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Kiaa Keho Suno Suaamee Thoon Vadd Purakh Sujaanaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
किआ कहउ सुणउ सुआमी तूं वड पुरखु सुजाणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
What should I say, and what should I hear? O my Lord and Master, You are Great, All-powerful and All-knowing. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਨ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ਮੰਧੇ ਸੋ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Maan Abhimaan Mandhhae So Saevak Naahee ||
मान अभिमान मंधे सो सेवकु नाही ॥
One who is influenced by praise and blame is not God's servant.
ਤਤ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਮੰਧਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
Thath Samadharasee Santhahu Koee Kott Mandhhaahee ||2||
तत समदरसी संतहु कोई कोटि मंधाही ॥२॥
One who sees the essence of reality with impartial vision, O Saints, is very rare-one among millions. ||2||
ਕਹਨ ਕਹਾਵਨ ਇਹੁ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਲਾ ॥
Kehan Kehaavan Eihu Keerath Karalaa ||
कहन कहावन इहु कीरति करला ॥
People talk on and on about Him; they consider this to be praise of God.
ਕਥਨ ਕਹਨ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ॥੩॥
Kathhan Kehan Thae Mukathaa Guramukh Koee Viralaa ||3||
कथन कहन ते मुकता गुरमुखि कोई विरला ॥३॥
But rare indeed is the Gurmukh, who is above this mere talk. ||3||
ਗਤਿ ਅਵਿਗਤਿ ਕਛੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਇਆ ॥
Gath Avigath Kashh Nadhar N Aaeiaa ||
गति अविगति कछु नदरि न आइआ ॥
He is not concerned with deliverance or bondage.
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਣੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੨੬॥੯੬॥
Santhan Kee Raen Naanak Dhaan Paaeiaa ||4||26||96||
संतन की रेणु नानक दानु पाइआ ॥४॥२६॥९६॥
Nanak has obtained the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||26||96||

Thaerai Bharosai Piaarae Mai Laadd Laddaaeiaa ||
तेरै भरोसै पिआरे मै लाड लडाइआ ॥
Relying on Your Mercy, Dear Lord, I have indulged in sensual pleasures.
ਭੂਲਹਿ ਚੂਕਹਿ ਬਾਰਿਕ ਤੂੰ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Bhoolehi Chookehi Baarik Thoon Har Pithaa Maaeiaa ||1||
भूलहि चूकहि बारिक तूं हरि पिता माइआ ॥१॥
Like a foolish child, I have made mistakes. O Lord, You are my Father and Mother. ||1||
ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਕਹਨੁ ਕਹਾਵਨੁ ॥
Suhaelaa Kehan Kehaavan ||
सुहेला कहनु कहावनु ॥
It is easy to speak and talk,
ਤੇਰਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਭਾਵਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Thaeraa Bikham Bhaavan ||1|| Rehaao ||
तेरा बिखमु भावनु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
But it is difficult to accept Your Will. ||1||Pause||
ਹਉ ਮਾਣੁ ਤਾਣੁ ਕਰਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਆਪਾ ॥
Ho Maan Thaan Karo Thaeraa Ho Jaano Aapaa ||
हउ माणु ताणु करउ तेरा हउ जानउ आपा ॥
I stand tall; You are my Strength. I know that You are mine.
ਸਭ ਹੀ ਮਧਿ ਸਭਹਿ ਤੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਬੇਮੁਹਤਾਜ ਬਾਪਾ ॥੨॥
Sabh Hee Madhh Sabhehi Thae Baahar Baemuhathaaj Baapaa ||2||
सभ ही मधि सभहि ते बाहरि बेमुहताज बापा ॥२॥
Inside of all, and outside of all, You are our Self-sufficient Father. ||2||
ਪਿਤਾ ਹਉ ਜਾਨਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਵਨ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥
