Ounee Chalan Sadhaa Nihaaliaa Har Kharach Leeaa Path Paae ||
ओनी चलणु सदा निहालिआ हरि खरचु लीआ पति पाइ ॥
They keep death constantly before their eyes; they gather the Provisions of the Lord's Name, and receive honor.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੰਨੀਅਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਲਏ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥
Guramukh Dharageh Manneeahi Har Aap Leae Gal Laae ||2||
गुरमुखि दरगह मंनीअहि हरि आपि लए गलि लाइ ॥२॥
The Gurmukhs are honored in the Court of the Lord. The Lord Himself takes them in His Loving Embrace. ||2||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਪੰਥੁ ਪਰਗਟਾ ਦਰਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Guramukhaa No Panthh Paragattaa Dhar Thaak N Koee Paae ||
गुरमुखा नो पंथु परगटा दरि ठाक न कोई पाइ ॥
For the Gurmukhs, the Way is obvious. At the Lord's Door, they face no obstructions.
ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥
Har Naam Salaahan Naam Man Naam Rehan Liv Laae ||
हरि नामु सलाहनि नामु मनि नामि रहनि लिव लाइ ॥
They praise the Lord's Name, they keep the Naam in their minds, and they remain attached to the Love of the Naam.
ਅਨਹਦ ਧੁਨੀ ਦਰਿ ਵਜਦੇ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥
Anehadh Dhhunee Dhar Vajadhae Dhar Sachai Sobhaa Paae ||3||
अनहद धुनी दरि वजदे दरि सचै सोभा पाइ ॥३॥
The Unstruck Celestial Music vibrates for them at the Lord's Door, and they are honored at the True Door. ||3||
ਜਿਨੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਭ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
Jinee Guramukh Naam Salaahiaa Thinaa Sabh Ko Kehai Saabaas ||
जिनी गुरमुखि नामु सलाहिआ तिना सभ को कहै साबासि ॥
Those Gurmukhs who praise the Naam are applauded by everyone.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੈ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥
Thin Kee Sangath Dhaehi Prabh Mai Jaachik Kee Aradhaas ||
तिन की संगति देहि प्रभ मै जाचिक की अरदासि ॥
Grant me their company, God-I am a beggar; this is my prayer.

रस भोगहि खुसीआ करहि माणहि रंग अपार ॥
You enjoy tasty delicacies, you have lots of fun, and you indulge in endless pleasures.
ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਸੀ ਵਰਤਹਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਫਾਰ ॥
Bahuth Karehi Furamaaeisee Varathehi Hoe Afaar ||
बहुतु करहि फुरमाइसी वरतहि होइ अफार ॥
You give all sorts of commands, and you act so superior.
ਕਰਤਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥੧॥

करता चिति न आवई मनमुख अंध गवार ॥१॥
The Creator does not come into the mind of the blind, idiotic, self-willed manmukh. ||1||

People are entangled in the enjoyment of fine clothes, but gold and silver are only dust.
ਹੈਵਰ ਗੈਵਰ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੇ ਕੀਏ ਰਥ ਅਥਾਕ ॥
Haivar Gaivar Bahu Rangae Keeeae Rathh Athhaak ||
हैवर गैवर बहु रंगे कीए रथ अथाक ॥
They acquire beautiful horses and elephants, and ornate carriages of many kinds.
ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ਬਿਸਰਿਆ ਸਭ ਸਾਕ ॥
Kis Hee Chith N Paavehee Bisariaa Sabh Saak ||
किस ही चिति न पावही बिसरिआ सभ साक ॥
They think of nothing else, and they forget all their relatives.
ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ਵਿਣੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਨਾਪਾਕ ॥੨॥
Sirajanehaar Bhulaaeiaa Vin Naavai Naapaak ||2||
सिरजणहारि भुलाइआ विणु नावै नापाक ॥२॥
They ignore their Creator; without the Name, they are impure. ||2||
ਲੈਦਾ ਬਦ ਦੁਆਇ ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਕਤ ॥
Laidhaa Badh Dhuaae Thoon Maaeiaa Karehi Eikath ||
लैदा बद दुआइ तूं माइआ करहि इकत ॥
Gathering the wealth of Maya, you earn an evil reputation.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂੰ ਪਤੀਆਇਦਾ ਸੋ ਸਣੁ ਤੁਝੈ ਅਨਿਤ ॥
Jis No Thoon Patheeaaeidhaa So San Thujhai Anith ||
जिस नो तूं पतीआइदा सो सणु तुझै अनित ॥
Those whom you work to please shall pass away along with you.

The egotistical are engrossed in egotism, ensnared by the intellect of the mind.

The emperors sitting on their thrones are consumed by anxiety. ||1||

There are so many places-I have wandered through them all.

धन पाती वड भूमीआ मेरी मेरी करि परिआ ॥२॥
The masters of wealth and the great land-lords have fallen, crying out, ""This is mine! This is mine!""||2||
ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚਲਾਏ ਨਿਸੰਗ ਹੋਇ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਫਰਿਆ ॥
Hukam Chalaaeae Nisang Hoe Varathai Afariaa ||
हुकमु चलाए निसंग होइ वरतै अफरिआ ॥
They issue their commands fearlessly, and act in pride.
ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਲਇਓਨੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਖਾਕੁ ਰਲਿਆ ॥੩॥
Sabh Ko Vasagath Kar Laeioun Bin Naavai Khaak Raliaa ||3||
सभु को वसगति करि लइओनु बिनु नावै खाकु रलिआ ॥३॥
They subdue all under their command, but without the Name, they are reduced to dust. ||3||
ਕੋਟਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਸੇਵਕਾ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਦਰਿ ਖਰਿਆ ॥

कोटि तेतीस सेवका सिध साधिक दरि खरिआ ॥
Even those who are served by the 33 million angelic beings, at whose door the Siddhas and the Saadhus stand,

गिर्मबारी वड साहबी सभु नानक सुपनु थीआ ॥४॥२॥७२॥
Who live in wondrous affluence and rule over mountains, oceans and vast dominions-O Nanak, in the end, all this vanishes like a dream! ||4||2||72||
