त्रिभवणि सो प्रभु जाणीऐ साचो साचै नाइ ॥५॥
God is known throughout the three worlds. True is the Name of the True One. ||5||
ਸਾ ਧਨ ਖਰੀ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Saa Dhhan Kharee Suhaavanee Jin Pir Jaathaa Sang ||
सा धन खरी सुहावणी जिनि पिरु जाता संगि ॥
The wife who knows that her Husband Lord is always with her is very beautiful.
ਮਹਲੀ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਈਐ ਸੋ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਵੇ ਰੰਗਿ ॥
Mehalee Mehal Bulaaeeai So Pir Raavae Rang ||
महली महलि बुलाईऐ सो पिरु रावे रंगि ॥
The soul-bride is called to the Mansion of the His Presence, and her Husband Lord ravishes her with love.
ਸਚਿ ਸੁਹਾਗਣਿ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ਪਿਰਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਿ ॥੬॥
Sach Suhaagan Saa Bhalee Pir Mohee Gun Sang ||6||
सचि सुहागणि सा भली पिरि मोही गुण संगि ॥६॥
The happy soul-bride is true and good; she is fascinated by the Glories of her Husband Lord. ||6||
ਭੂਲੀ ਭੂਲੀ ਥਲਿ ਚੜਾ ਥਲਿ ਚੜਿ ਡੂਗਰਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
Bhoolee Bhoolee Thhal Charraa Thhal Charr Ddoogar Jaao ||
भूली भूली थलि चड़ा थलि चड़ि डूगरि जाउ ॥
Wandering around and making mistakes, I climb the plateau; having climbed the plateau, I go up the mountain.
ਬਨ ਮਹਿ ਭੂਲੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਉ ॥
Ban Mehi Bhoolee Jae Firaa Bin Gur Boojh N Paao ||
बन महि भूली जे फिरा बिनु गुर बूझ न पाउ ॥
But now I have lost my way, and I am wandering around in the forest; without the Guru, I do not understand.
ਨਾਵਹੁ ਭੂਲੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਉ ਜਾਉ ॥੭॥
Naavahu Bhoolee Jae Firaa Fir Fir Aavo Jaao ||7||
नावहु भूली जे फिरा फिरि फिरि आवउ जाउ ॥७॥
If I wander around forgetting God's Name, I shall continue coming and going in reincarnation, over and over again. ||7||
ਪੁਛਹੁ ਜਾਇ ਪਧਾਊਆ ਚਲੇ ਚਾਕਰ ਹੋਇ ॥
Pushhahu Jaae Padhhaaooaa Chalae Chaakar Hoe ||
पुछहु जाइ पधाऊआ चले चाकर होइ ॥
Go and ask the travellers, how to walk on the Path as His slave.
ਰਾਜਨੁ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਠਾਕ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Raajan Jaanehi Aapanaa Dhar Ghar Thaak N Hoe ||
राजनु जाणहि आपणा दरि घरि ठाक न होइ ॥
They know the Lord to be their King, and at the Door to His Home, their way is not blocked.
ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥੮॥੬॥

नानक एको रवि रहिआ दूजा अवरु न कोइ ॥८॥६॥

गुर ते निरमलु जाणीऐ निरमल देह सरीरु ॥
Through the Guru, the Pure One is known, and the human body becomes pure as well.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚੋ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਅਭ ਪੀਰ ॥
Niramal Saacho Man Vasai So Jaanai Abh Peer ||
निरमलु साचो मनि वसै सो जाणै अभ पीर ॥
The Pure, True Lord abides within the mind; He knows the pain of our hearts.
ਸਹਜੈ ਤੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਅਗਲੋ ਨਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਮ ਤੀਰੁ ॥੧॥
Sehajai Thae Sukh Agalo Naa Laagai Jam Theer ||1||
सहजै ते सुखु अगलो ना लागै जम तीरु ॥१॥
With intuitive ease, a great peace is found, and the arrow of death shall not strike you. ||1||
ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜਲਿ ਨਾਇ ॥

भाई रे मैलु नाही निरमल जलि नाइ ॥
O Siblings of Destiny, filth is washed away by bathing in the Pure Water of the Name.
ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਏਕੁ ਤੂ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਭਰੀ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हरि का मंदरु सोहणा कीआ करणैहारि ॥
The Temple of the Lord is beautiful; it was made by the Creator Lord.

रवि ससि दीप अनूप जोति त्रिभवणि जोति अपार ॥
The sun and the moon are lamps of incomparably beautiful light. Throughout the three worlds, the Infinite Light is pervading.
ਹਾਟ ਪਟਣ ਗੜ ਕੋਠੜੀ ਸਚੁ ਸਉਦਾ ਵਾਪਾਰ ॥੨॥
Haatt Pattan Garr Kotharree Sach Soudhaa Vaapaar ||2||
हाट पटण गड़ कोठड़ी सचु सउदा वापार ॥२॥
In the shops of the city of the body, in the fortresses and in the huts, the True Merchandise is traded. ||2||
ਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਜਨੁ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨਾ ਦੇਖੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਭਾਇ ॥

गिआन अंजनु भै भंजना देखु निरंजन भाइ ॥
The ointment of spiritual wisdom is the destroyer of fear; through love, the Pure One is seen.
ਗੁਪਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਸਭ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਜੇ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਠਾਇ ॥
Gupath Pragatt Sabh Jaaneeai Jae Man Raakhai Thaae ||
गुपतु प्रगटु सभ जाणीऐ जे मनु राखै ठाइ ॥
The mysteries of the seen and the unseen are all known, if the mind is kept centered and balanced.
ਐਸਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਾ ਸਹਜੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੩॥
Aisaa Sathigur Jae Milai Thaa Sehajae Leae Milaae ||3||
ऐसा सतिगुरु जे मिलै ता सहजे लए मिलाइ ॥३॥
If one finds such a True Guru, the Lord is met with intuitive ease. ||3||
ਕਸਿ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਈਐ ਪਰਖੇ ਹਿਤੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
Kas Kasavattee Laaeeai Parakhae Hith Chith Laae ||
कसि कसवटी लाईऐ परखे हितु चितु लाइ ॥
He draws us to His Touchstone, to test our love and consciousness.
ਖੋਟੇ ਠਉਰ ਨ ਪਾਇਨੀ ਖਰੇ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਪਾਇ ॥
Khottae Thour N Paaeinee Kharae Khajaanai Paae ||
खोटे ठउर न पाइनी खरे खजानै पाइ ॥
The counterfeit have no place there, but the genuine are placed in His Treasury.
ਆਸ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਇਉ ਮਲੁ ਜਾਇ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥
Aas Andhaesaa Dhoor Kar Eio Mal Jaae Samaae ||4||
आस अंदेसा दूरि करि इउ मलु जाइ समाइ ॥४॥
Let your hopes and anxieties depart; thus pollution is washed away. ||4||
ਸੁਖ ਕਉ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਮਾਗੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
Sukh Ko Maagai Sabh Ko Dhukh N Maagai Koe ||
सुख कउ मागै सभु को दुखु न मागै कोइ ॥
Everyone begs for happiness; no one asks for suffering.
ਸੁਖੈ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਅਗਲਾ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sukhai Ko Dhukh Agalaa Manamukh Boojh N Hoe ||
सुखै कउ दुखु अगला मनमुखि बूझ न होइ ॥
But in the wake of happiness, there comes great suffering. The self-willed manmukhs do not understand this.
ਸੁਖ ਦੁਖ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਜਾਣੀਅਹਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਭੇਦਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫॥
Sukh Dhukh Sam Kar Jaaneeahi Sabadh Bhaedh Sukh Hoe ||5||
सुख दुख सम करि जाणीअहि सबदि भेदि सुखु होइ ॥५॥
Those who see pain and pleasure as one and the same find peace; they are pierced through by the Shabad. ||5||
ਬੇਦੁ ਪੁਕਾਰੇ ਵਾਚੀਐ ਬਾਣੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਬਿਆਸੁ ॥
Baedh Pukaarae Vaacheeai Baanee Breham Biaas ||
बेदु पुकारे वाचीऐ बाणी ब्रहम बिआसु ॥
The Vedas proclaim, and the words of Vyaasa tell us,
ਮੁਨਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਸਾਧਿਕਾ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸੁ ॥
Mun Jan Saevak Saadhhikaa Naam Rathae Gunathaas ||
मुनि जन सेवक साधिका नामि रते गुणतासु ॥
That the silent sages, the servants of the Lord, and those who practice a life of spiritual discipline are attuned to the Naam, the Treasure of Excellence.
ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸੇ ਜਿਣਿ ਗਏ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ਜਾਸੁ ॥੬॥
Sach Rathae Sae Jin Geae Ho Sadh Balihaarai Jaas ||6||
सचि रते से जिणि गए हउ सद बलिहारै जासु ॥६॥
Those who are attuned to the True Name win the game of life; I am forever a sacrifice to them. ||6||
ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਮੈਲੇ ਮਲੁ ਭਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Chahu Jug Mailae Mal Bharae Jin Mukh Naam N Hoe ||
चहु जुगि मैले मलु भरे जिन मुखि नामु न होइ ॥
Those who do not have the Naam in their mouths are filled with pollution; they are filthy throughout the four ages.
ਭਗਤੀ ਭਾਇ ਵਿਹੂਣਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਕਾਲਾ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਇ ॥
Bhagathee Bhaae Vihooniaa Muhu Kaalaa Path Khoe ||
भगती भाइ विहूणिआ मुहु काला पति खोइ ॥
Without loving devotion to God, their faces are blackened, and their honor is lost.
ਜਿਨੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਅਵਗਣ ਮੁਠੀ ਰੋਇ ॥੭॥
Jinee Naam Visaariaa Avagan Muthee Roe ||7||
जिनी नामु विसारिआ अवगण मुठी रोइ ॥७॥
Those who have forgotten the Naam are plundered by evil; they weep and wail in dismay. ||7||
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਪਾਇਆ ਡਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥
Khojath Khojath Paaeiaa Ddar Kar Milai Milaae ||
खोजत खोजत पाइआ डरु करि मिलै मिलाइ ॥
I searched and searched, and found God. In the Fear of God, I have been united in His Union.
ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਇ ॥
Aap Pashhaanai Ghar Vasai Houmai Thrisanaa Jaae ||
आपु पछाणै घरि वसै हउमै त्रिसना जाइ ॥
Through self-realization, people dwell within the home of their inner being; egotism and desire depart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਊਜਲੇ ਜੋ ਰਾਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੮॥੭॥
Naanak Niramal Oojalae Jo Raathae Har Naae ||8||7||
नानक निरमल ऊजले जो राते हरि नाइ ॥८॥७॥
O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Name of the Lord are immaculate and radiant. ||8||7||

सुणि मन भूले बावरे गुर की चरणी लागु ॥
Listen, O deluded and demented mind: hold tight to the Guru's Feet.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਜਮੁ ਡਰਪੈ ਦੁਖ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
Har Jap Naam Dhhiaae Thoo Jam Ddarapai Dhukh Bhaag ||
हरि जपि नामु धिआइ तू जमु डरपै दुख भागु ॥
Chant and meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord; death will be afraid of you, and suffering shall depart.
ਦੂਖੁ ਘਣੋ ਦੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਕਿਉ ਥਿਰੁ ਰਹੈ ਸੁਹਾਗੁ ॥੧॥
Dhookh Ghano Dhohaaganee Kio Thhir Rehai Suhaag ||1||
दूखु घणो दोहागणी किउ थिरु रहै सुहागु ॥१॥
The deserted wife suffers terrible pain. How can her Husband Lord remain with her forever? ||1||
