मोहि लागती तालाबेली ॥
I am restless and unhappy.
ਬਛਰੇ ਬਿਨੁ ਗਾਇ ਅਕੇਲੀ ॥੧॥
Bashharae Bin Gaae Akaelee ||1||
बछरे बिनु गाइ अकेली ॥१॥
Without her calf, the cow is lonely. ||1||
ਪਾਨੀਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਮੀਨੁ ਤਲਫੈ ॥
Paaneeaa Bin Meen Thalafai ||
पानीआ बिनु मीनु तलफै ॥
Without water, the fish writhes in pain.
ਐਸੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਪੁਰੋ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Aisae Raam Naamaa Bin Baapuro Naamaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
ऐसे राम नामा बिनु बापुरो नामा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
So is poor Naam Dayv without the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਜੈਸੇ ਗਾਇ ਕਾ ਬਾਛਾ ਛੂਟਲਾ ॥
Jaisae Gaae Kaa Baashhaa Shhoottalaa ||
जैसे गाइ का बाछा छूटला ॥
Like the cow's calf, which, when let loose,
ਥਨ ਚੋਖਤਾ ਮਾਖਨੁ ਘੂਟਲਾ ॥੨॥
Thhan Chokhathaa Maakhan Ghoottalaa ||2||
थन चोखता माखनु घूटला ॥२॥
Sucks at her udders and drinks her milk -||2||
ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਨਾਰਾਇਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Naamadhaeo Naaraaein Paaeiaa ||
नामदेउ नाराइनु पाइआ ॥
So has Naam Dayv found the Lord.
ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
Gur Bhaettath Alakh Lakhaaeiaa ||3||
गुरु भेटत अलखु लखाइआ ॥३॥
Meeting the Guru, I have seen the Unseen Lord. ||3||
ਜੈਸੇ ਬਿਖੈ ਹੇਤ ਪਰ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
Jaisae Bikhai Haeth Par Naaree ||
जैसे बिखै हेत पर नारी ॥
As the man driven by sex wants another man's wife,
ਐਸੇ ਨਾਮੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੪॥
Aisae Naamae Preeth Muraaree ||4||
ऐसे नामे प्रीति मुरारी ॥४॥
So does Naam Dayv love the Lord. ||4||
ਜੈਸੇ ਤਾਪਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਘਾਮਾ ॥
Jaisae Thaapathae Niramal Ghaamaa ||
जैसे तापते निरमल घामा ॥
As the earth burns in the dazzling sunlight,
ਤੈਸੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਾ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਾਪੁਰੋ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੫॥੪॥
Thaisae Raam Naamaa Bin Baapuro Naamaa ||5||4||
तैसे राम नामा बिनु बापुरो नामा ॥५॥४॥
So does poor Naam Dayv burn without the Lord's Name. ||5||4||

ਹਰਿ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈ ਊਤਮ ਧਰਮਾ ॥
Har Ko Naam Lai Ootham Dhharamaa ||
हरि को नामु लै ऊतम धरमा ॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord is the highest religion.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਜਾਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਹਰੀ ॥

हरि हरि करत जाति कुल हरी ॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, erases social classes and ancestral pedigrees.

I bow to the Lord, I humbly bow to the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਨਹੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਮਹ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, you will not be tormented by the Messenger of Death. ||1||Pause||

हरि हरनाकस हरे परान ॥
The Lord took the life of Harnaakhash,
ਅਜੈਮਲ ਕੀਓ ਬੈਕੁੰਠਹਿ ਥਾਨ ॥
Ajaimal Keeou Baikunthehi Thhaan ||
अजैमल कीओ बैकुंठहि थान ॥
And gave Ajaamal a place in heaven.
ਸੂਆ ਪੜਾਵਤ ਗਨਿਕਾ ਤਰੀ ॥
Sooaa Parraavath Ganikaa Tharee ||
सूआ पड़ावत गनिका तरी ॥
Teaching a parrot to speak the Lord's Name, Ganika the prostitute was saved.
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਕੀ ਪੂਤਰੀ ॥੨॥
So Har Nainahu Kee Pootharee ||2||
सो हरि नैनहु की पूतरी ॥२॥
That Lord is the light of my eyes. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਪੂਤਨਾ ਤਰੀ ॥
Har Har Karath Poothanaa Tharee ||
हरि हरि करत पूतना तरी ॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Pootna was saved,
ਬਾਲ ਘਾਤਨੀ ਕਪਟਹਿ ਭਰੀ ॥
Baal Ghaathanee Kapattehi Bharee ||
बाल घातनी कपटहि भरी ॥
Even though she was a deceitful child-killer.
ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦ੍ਰੋਪਦ ਸੁਤ ਉਧਰੀ ॥
Simaran Dhropadh Suth Oudhharee ||
सिमरन द्रोपद सुत उधरी ॥
Contemplating the Lord, Dropadi was saved.
ਗਊਤਮ ਸਤੀ ਸਿਲਾ ਨਿਸਤਰੀ ॥੩॥
Gootham Sathee Silaa Nisatharee ||3||
गऊतम सती सिला निसतरी ॥३॥
Gautam's wife, turned to stone, was saved. ||3||
ਕੇਸੀ ਕੰਸ ਮਥਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ॥
Kaesee Kans Mathhan Jin Keeaa ||
केसी कंस मथनु जिनि कीआ ॥
The Lord, who killed Kaysee and Kans,
ਜੀਅ ਦਾਨੁ ਕਾਲੀ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ॥
Jeea Dhaan Kaalee Ko Dheeaa ||
जीअ दानु काली कउ दीआ ॥
Gave the gift of life to Kali.
ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ਐਸੋ ਹਰੀ ॥
Pranavai Naamaa Aiso Haree ||
प्रणवै नामा ऐसो हरी ॥
Prays Naam Dayv, such is my Lord;
ਜਾਸੁ ਜਪਤ ਭੈ ਅਪਦਾ ਟਰੀ ॥੪॥੧॥੫॥
Jaas Japath Bhai Apadhaa Ttaree ||4||1||5||
जासु जपत भै अपदा टरी ॥४॥१॥५॥

ਭੈਰਉ ਭੂਤ ਸੀਤਲਾ ਧਾਵੈ ॥
Bhairo Bhooth Seethalaa Dhhaavai ||
भैरउ भूत सीतला धावै ॥
One who chases after the god Bhairau, evil spirits and the goddess of smallpox,
ਖਰ ਬਾਹਨੁ ਉਹੁ ਛਾਰੁ ਉਡਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
Khar Baahan Ouhu Shhaar Ouddaavai ||1||
खर बाहनु उहु छारु उडावै ॥१॥
Is riding on a donkey, kicking up the dust. ||1||
ਹਉ ਤਉ ਏਕੁ ਰਮਈਆ ਲੈਹਉ ॥
Ho Tho Eaek Rameeaa Laiho ||
हउ तउ एकु रमईआ लैहउ ॥
I take only the Name of the One Lord.
ਆਨ ਦੇਵ ਬਦਲਾਵਨਿ ਦੈਹਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

आन देव बदलावनि दैहउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Siv Siv Karathae Jo Nar Dhhiaavai ||
सिव सिव करते जो नरु धिआवै ॥
That man who chants ""Shiva, Shiva"", and meditates on him,
ਬਰਦ ਚਢੇ ਡਉਰੂ ਢਮਕਾਵੈ ॥੨॥
Baradh Chadtae Ddouroo Dtamakaavai ||2||
बरद चढे डउरू ढमकावै ॥२॥
Is riding on a bull, shaking a tambourine. ||2||
ਮਹਾ ਮਾਈ ਕੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਕਰੈ ॥
Mehaa Maaee Kee Poojaa Karai ||
महा माई की पूजा करै ॥
One who worships the Great Goddess Maya
ਨਰ ਸੈ ਨਾਰਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਉਤਰੈ ॥੩॥
Nar Sai Naar Hoe Aoutharai ||3||
नर सै नारि होइ अउतरै ॥३॥
Will be reincarnated as a woman, and not a man. ||3||
ਤੂ ਕਹੀਅਤ ਹੀ ਆਦਿ ਭਵਾਨੀ ॥
Thoo Keheeath Hee Aadh Bhavaanee ||
तू कहीअत ही आदि भवानी ॥
You are called the Primal Goddess.
ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕੀ ਬਰੀਆ ਕਹਾ ਛਪਾਨੀ ॥੪॥
Mukath Kee Bareeaa Kehaa Shhapaanee ||4||
मुकति की बरीआ कहा छपानी ॥४॥
At the time of liberation, where will you hide then? ||4||
ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਗਹੁ ਮੀਤਾ ॥
Guramath Raam Naam Gahu Meethaa ||
गुरमति राम नाम गहु मीता ॥
Follow the Guru's Teachings, and hold tight to the Lord's Name, O friend.
ਪ੍ਰਣਵੈ ਨਾਮਾ ਇਉ ਕਹੈ ਗੀਤਾ ॥੫॥੨॥੬॥
Pranavai Naamaa Eio Kehai Geethaa ||5||2||6||
प्रणवै नामा इउ कहै गीता ॥५॥२॥६॥
Thus prays Naam Dayv, and so says the Gita as well. ||5||2||6||

Aaj Naamae Beethal Dhaekhiaa Moorakh Ko Samajhaaoo Rae || Rehaao ||
आजु नामे बीठलु देखिआ मूरख को समझाऊ रे ॥ रहाउ ॥
Today, Naam Dayv saw the Lord, and so I will instruct the ignorant. ||Pause||
ਪਾਂਡੇ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ ਲੋਧੇ ਕਾ ਖੇਤੁ ਖਾਤੀ ਥੀ ॥
Paanddae Thumaree Gaaeithree Lodhhae Kaa Khaeth Khaathee Thhee ||
पांडे तुमरी गाइत्री लोधे का खेतु खाती थी ॥
O Pandit, O religious scholar, your Gayatri was grazing in the fields.
ਲੈ ਕਰਿ ਠੇਗਾ ਟਗਰੀ ਤੋਰੀ ਲਾਂਗਤ ਲਾਂਗਤ ਜਾਤੀ ਥੀ ॥੧॥
Lai Kar Thaegaa Ttagaree Thoree Laangath Laangath Jaathee Thhee ||1||
लै करि ठेगा टगरी तोरी लांगत लांगत जाती थी ॥१॥
Taking a stick, the farmer broke its leg, and now it walks with a limp. ||1||
ਪਾਂਡੇ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਮਹਾਦੇਉ ਧਉਲੇ ਬਲਦ ਚੜਿਆ ਆਵਤੁ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਥਾ ॥
Paanddae Thumaraa Mehaadhaeo Dhhoulae Baladh Charriaa Aavath Dhaekhiaa Thhaa ||
पांडे तुमरा महादेउ धउले बलद चड़िआ आवतु देखिआ था ॥
O Pandit, I saw your great god Shiva, riding along on a white bull.
ਮੋਦੀ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਖਾਣਾ ਪਾਕਾ ਵਾ ਕਾ ਲੜਕਾ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਥਾ ॥੨॥
Modhee Kae Ghar Khaanaa Paakaa Vaa Kaa Larrakaa Maariaa Thhaa ||2||
मोदी के घर खाणा पाका वा का लड़का मारिआ था ॥२॥
In the merchant's house, a banquet was prepared for him - he killed the merchant's son. ||2||
