Peevath Amar Bheae Nihakaam ||
पीवत अमर भए निहकाम ॥
Drinking it in, one becomes immortal and free of desire.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥
Than Man Seethal Agan Nivaaree ||
तनु मनु सीतलु अगनि निवारी ॥
The body and mind are cooled and soothed, and the fire is extinguished.
ਅਨਦ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
Anadh Roop Pragattae Sansaaree ||2||
अनद रूप प्रगटे संसारी ॥२॥
Such a being is the embodiment of bliss, famous throughout the world. ||2||
ਕਿਆ ਦੇਵਉ ਜਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
Kiaa Dhaevo Jaa Sabh Kishh Thaeraa ||
किआ देवउ जा सभु किछु तेरा ॥
What can I offer You, Lord? Everything belongs to You.
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਲਖ ਬੇਰਾ ॥
Sadh Balihaar Jaao Lakh Baeraa ||
सद बलिहारि जाउ लख बेरा ॥
I am forever a sacrifice to You, hundreds of thousands of times.
ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਦੇ ਸਾਜਿਆ ॥
Than Man Jeeo Pindd Dhae Saajiaa ||
तनु मनु जीउ पिंडु दे साजिआ ॥
You blessed me, and fashioned my body, mind and soul.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨੀਚੁ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ॥੩॥
Gur Kirapaa Thae Neech Nivaajiaa ||3||
गुर किरपा ते नीचु निवाजिआ ॥३॥
By Guru's Grace, this lowly being was exalted. ||3||
ਖੋਲਿ ਕਿਵਾਰਾ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
Khol Kivaaraa Mehal Bulaaeiaa ||
खोलि किवारा महलि बुलाइआ ॥
Opening the door, You summoned me to the Mansion of Your Presence.
ਜੈਸਾ ਸਾ ਤੈਸਾ ਦਿਖਲਾਇਆ ॥
Jaisaa Saa Thaisaa Dhikhalaaeiaa ||
जैसा सा तैसा दिखलाइआ ॥
As You are, so You have revealed Yourself to me.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਪੜਦਾ ਤੂਟਾ ॥
Kahu Naanak Sabh Parradhaa Thoottaa ||
कहु नानक सभु पड़दा तूटा ॥
Says Nanak, the screen is totally torn away;
ਹਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੪॥੩॥੧੪॥

हउ तेरा तू मै मनि वूठा ॥४॥३॥१४॥
I am Yours, and You are enshrined within my mind. ||4||3||14||

सेवकु लाइओ अपुनी सेव ॥
He has linked His servant to His service.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਮੁਖਿ ਦੇਵ ॥
Anmrith Naam Dheeou Mukh Dhaev ||
अम्रितु नामु दीओ मुखि देव ॥
The Divine Guru has poured the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, into his mouth.
ਸਗਲੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ॥
Sagalee Chinthaa Aap Nivaaree ||
सगली चिंता आपि निवारी ॥
He has subdued all his anxiety.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥
This Gur Ko Ho Sadh Balihaaree ||1||
तिसु गुर कउ हउ सद बलिहारी ॥१॥

ਕਾਜ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਸਤਗੁਰ ॥
Kaaj Hamaarae Poorae Sathagur ||
काज हमारे पूरे सतगुर ॥
The True Guru has perfectly resolved my affairs.

Mehimaa Jaa Kee Gehir Ganbheer ||
महिमा जा की गहिर ग्मभीर ॥
His Glory is profound and unfathomable.
ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਦੇਇ ਜਿਸੁ ਧੀਰ ॥
Hoe Nihaal Dhaee Jis Dhheer ||
होइ निहालु देइ जिसु धीर ॥
One whom He blesses with patience becomes blissful.
ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਰਾਇ ॥
Jaa Kae Bandhhan Kaattae Raae ||
जा के बंधन काटे राइ ॥
One whose bonds are shattered by the Sovereign Lord
ਸੋ ਨਰੁ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥
So Nar Bahur N Jonee Paae ||2||
सो नरु बहुरि न जोनी पाइ ॥२॥
Is not cast into the womb of reincarnation again. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਓ ਆਪ ॥
Jaa Kai Anthar Pragattiou Aap ||
जा कै अंतरि प्रगटिओ आप ॥
One who is illuminated by the Lord's radiance within,
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੂਖ ਸੰਤਾਪ ॥
Thaa Ko Naahee Dhookh Santhaap ||
ता कउ नाही दूख संताप ॥
Is not touched by pain and sorrow.
ਲਾਲੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਲੈ ਪਰਿਆ ॥
Laal Rathan This Paalai Pariaa ||
लालु रतनु तिसु पालै परिआ ॥
He holds in his robe the gems and jewels.
ਸਗਲ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਓਹੁ ਜਨੁ ਲੈ ਤਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
Sagal Kuttanb Ouhu Jan Lai Thariaa ||3||
सगल कुट्मब ओहु जनु लै तरिआ ॥३॥
That humble being is saved, along with all his generations. ||3||
ਨਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਨ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੂਜਾ ॥
Naa Kishh Bharam N Dhubidhhaa Dhoojaa ||
ना किछु भरमु न दुबिधा दूजा ॥
He has no doubt, double-mindedness or duality at all.
ਏਕੋ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਪੂਜਾ ॥
Eaeko Eaek Niranjan Poojaa ||
एको एकु निरंजन पूजा ॥
He worships and adores the One Immaculate Lord alone.
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਦੇਖਉ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
Jath Kath Dhaekho Aap Dhaeiaal ||
जत कत देखउ आपि दइआल ॥
Wherever I look, I see the Merciful Lord.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਰਸਾਲ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੫॥

कहु नानक प्रभ मिले रसाल ॥४॥४॥१५॥
Says Nanak, I have found God, the source of nectar. ||4||4||15||

Than Thae Shhuttakee Apanee Dhhaaree ||
तन ते छुटकी अपनी धारी ॥
My self-conceit has been eliminated from my body.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਲਗੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
Prabh Kee Aagiaa Lagee Piaaree ||
प्रभ की आगिआ लगी पिआरी ॥
The Will of God is dear to me.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਮੇਰੈ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
Jo Kishh Karai S Man Maerai Meethaa ||
जो किछु करै सु मनि मेरै मीठा ॥
Whatever He does, seems sweet to my mind.
ਤਾ ਇਹੁ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਨੈਨਹੁ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੧॥
Thaa Eihu Acharaj Nainahu Ddeethaa ||1||
ता इहु अचरजु नैनहु डीठा ॥१॥
And then, these eyes behold the wondrous Lord. ||1||
ਅਬ ਮੋਹਿ ਜਾਨੀ ਰੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਇ ॥
Ab Mohi Jaanee Rae Maeree Gee Balaae ||
अब मोहि जानी रे मेरी गई बलाइ ॥
Now, I have become wise and my demons are gone.
ਬੁਝਿ ਗਈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਮਮਤਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਲੀਓ ਸਮਝਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Bujh Gee Thrisan Nivaaree Mamathaa Gur Poorai Leeou Samajhaae ||1|| Rehaao ||
बुझि गई त्रिसन निवारी ममता गुरि पूरै लीओ समझाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
My thirst is quenched, and my attachment is dispelled. The Perfect Guru has instructed me. ||1||Pause||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਰਾਖਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਰਨਾ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Raakhiou Gur Saranaa ||
करि किरपा राखिओ गुरि सरना ॥
In His Mercy, the Guru has kept me under His protection.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪਕਰਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨਾ ॥
Gur Pakaraaeae Har Kae Charanaa ||
गुरि पकराए हरि के चरना ॥
The Guru has attached me to the Lord's Feet.
ਬੀਸ ਬਿਸੁਏ ਜਾ ਮਨ ਠਹਰਾਨੇ ॥
Bees Bisueae Jaa Man Theharaanae ||
बीस बिसुए जा मन ठहराने ॥
When the mind is totally held in check,
ਗੁਰ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਏਕੈ ਹੀ ਜਾਨੇ ॥੨॥
Gur Paarabreham Eaekai Hee Jaanae ||2||
गुर पारब्रहम एकै ही जाने ॥२॥
One sees the Guru and the Supreme Lord God as one and the same. ||2||
ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕੀਨੋ ਹਮ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ॥
Jo Jo Keeno Ham This Kae Dhaas ||
जो जो कीनो हम तिस के दास ॥
Whoever You have created, I am his slave.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥
Prabh Maerae Ko Sagal Nivaas ||
प्रभ मेरे को सगल निवास ॥
My God dwells in all.
ਨਾ ਕੋ ਦੂਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਬੈਰਾਈ ॥
Naa Ko Dhooth Nehee Bairaaee ||
ना को दूतु नही बैराई ॥
I have no enemies, no adversaries.
ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਚਾਲੇ ਏਕੈ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥
Gal Mil Chaalae Eaekai Bhaaee ||3||
गलि मिलि चाले एकै भाई ॥३॥
I walk arm in arm, like brothers, with all. ||3||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਏ ਸੂਖਾ ॥
Jaa Ko Gur Har Dheeeae Sookhaa ||
जा कउ गुरि हरि दीए सूखा ॥
One whom the Guru, the Lord, blesses with peace,
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਲਾਗਹਿ ਦੂਖਾ ॥
Thaa Ko Bahur N Laagehi Dhookhaa ||
ता कउ बहुरि न लागहि दूखा ॥
Does not suffer in pain any longer.
ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਸਰਬ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
Aapae Aap Sarab Prathipaal ||
आपे आपि सरब प्रतिपाल ॥
He Himself cherishes all.
ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਤਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੪॥੫॥੧੬॥
Naanak Raatho Rang Gopaal ||4||5||16||
नानक रातउ रंगि गोपाल ॥४॥५॥१६॥
Nanak is imbued with the love of the Lord of the World. ||4||5||16||

मुख ते पड़ता टीका सहित ॥
You read the scriptures, and the commentaries,
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਰਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਰਹਤ ॥
Hiradhai Raam Nehee Pooran Rehath ||
हिरदै रामु नही पूरन रहत ॥
But the Perfect Lord does not dwell in your heart.
ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਲੋਕ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ॥
Oupadhaes Karae Kar Lok Dhrirraavai ||
उपदेसु करे करि लोक द्रिड़ावै ॥
You preach to others to have faith,
ਅਪਨਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਆਪਿ ਨ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
Apanaa Kehiaa Aap N Kamaavai ||1||
अपना कहिआ आपि न कमावै ॥१॥
But you do not practice what you preach. ||1||
ਪੰਡਿਤ ਬੇਦੁ ਬੀਚਾਰਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥
Panddith Baedh Beechaar Panddith ||
पंडित बेदु बीचारि पंडित ॥
O Pandit, O religious scholar, contemplate the Vedas.
ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਪੰਡਿਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मन का क्रोधु निवारि पंडित ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Eradicate anger from your mind, O Pandit. ||1||Pause||
