If you hear the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you feel like you have been stung by a scorpion. ||2||
ਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਝੂਰੈ ॥
Maaeiaa Kaaran Sadh Hee Jhoorai ||
माइआ कारणि सद ही झूरै ॥
You continually yearn for Maya,
ਮਨਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਕਬਹਿ ਨ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਕਰੈ ॥
Man Mukh Kabehi N Ousathath Karai ||
मनि मुखि कबहि न उसतति करै ॥
And you never chant the Lord's Praises with your mouth.
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥
Nirabho Nirankaar Dhaathaar ||
निरभउ निरंकार दातारु ॥
The Lord is fearless and formless; He is the Great Giver.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨ ਕਰੈ ਗਵਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

People are intoxicated by emotional attachment, entangled in doubt and family life.

Night and day, I chant the Lord's Name.
ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਉ ਥਾਉ ॥
Aagai Dharageh Paavo Thhaao ||
आगै दरगह पावउ थाउ ॥
Hereafter, I shall obtain a seat in the Court of the Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਸੋਗੁ ॥

सदा अनंदु न होवी सोगु ॥
I am in bliss forever; I have no sorrow.

The disease of ego never afflicts me. ||1||

खोजहु संतहु हरि ब्रहम गिआनी ॥
O Saints of the Lord, seek out those who know God.

You shall be wonderstruck with wonder at the wonderful Lord; meditate in remembrance on the Lord, O mortal, and obtain the supreme status. ||1||Pause||

गनि मिनि देखहु सगल बीचारि ॥
Calculating, measuring, and thinking in every way,
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਕੈ ਨ ਤਾਰਿ ॥
Naam Binaa Ko Sakai N Thaar ||
नाम बिना को सकै न तारि ॥
See that without the Naam, no one can be carried across.
ਸਗਲ ਉਪਾਵ ਨ ਚਾਲਹਿ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
Sagal Oupaav N Chaalehi Sang ||
सगल उपाव न चालहि संगि ॥
Of all your efforts, none will go along with you.
ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰੀਐ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥
Bhavajal Thareeai Prabh Kai Rang ||2||
भवजलु तरीऐ प्रभ कै रंगि ॥२॥
You can cross over the terrifying world-ocean only through the love of God. ||2||
ਦੇਹੀ ਧੋਇ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੈਲੁ ॥
Dhaehee Dhhoe N Outharai Mail ||
देही धोइ न उतरै मैलु ॥
By merely washing the body, one's filth is not removed.
ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਫੈਲੁ ॥
Houmai Biaapai Dhubidhhaa Fail ||
हउमै बिआपै दुबिधा फैलु ॥
Afflicted by egotism, duality only increases.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅਉਖਧੁ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਖਾਇ ॥
Har Har Aoukhadhh Jo Jan Khaae ||
हरि हरि अउखधु जो जनु खाइ ॥
That humble being who takes the medicine of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har
ਤਾ ਕਾ ਰੋਗੁ ਸਗਲ ਮਿਟਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥

ता का रोगु सगल मिटि जाइ ॥३॥
- all his diseases are eradicated. ||3||

Pain and darkness are gone from my mind;
ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਰਾਚੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥੨॥

दुरमति बिनसै राचै हरि नाइ ॥२॥
My evil-mindedness is dispelled, and I am absorbed in the Lord's Name. ||2||

गुर पूरे की निरमल रीति ॥
The lifestyle of the Perfect Guru is immaculate and pure.

भउ भागा निरभउ मनि बसै ॥
My fear has run away, and the fearless Lord dwells within my mind.

कोटि जनम के काटे फाहे ॥
The nooses of millions of incarnations are cut away.
ਪਾਇਆ ਲਾਭੁ ਸਚਾ ਧਨੁ ਲਾਹੇ ॥
Paaeiaa Laabh Sachaa Dhhan Laahae ||
पाइआ लाभु सचा धनु लाहे ॥
I have obtained the profit of the true wealth.
ਤੋਟਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਅਖੁਟ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥
Thott N Aavai Akhutt Bhanddaar ||
तोटि न आवै अखुट भंडार ॥
This treasure is inexhaustible; it will never run out.

Khaath Kharach Kashh Thott N Aavai Anth Nehee Har Paaraavaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
खात खरचि कछु तोटि न आवै अंतु नही हरि पारावारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Consuming and expending it, it is never used up. The Lord has no end or limitation. ||1||Pause||
