ਕਿਸੁ ਭਰਵਾਸੈ ਬਿਚਰਹਿ ਭਵਨ ॥
Kis Bharavaasai Bicharehi Bhavan ||
किसु भरवासै बिचरहि भवन ॥
What supports you in this world?
ਮੂੜ ਮੁਗਧ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੰਗੀ ਕਵਨ ॥
Moorr Mugadhh Thaeraa Sangee Kavan ||
मूड़ मुगध तेरा संगी कवन ॥
You ignorant fool, who is your companion?
ਰਾਮੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥
Raam Sangee This Gath Nehee Jaanehi ||
रामु संगी तिसु गति नही जानहि ॥
The Lord is your only companion; no one knows His condition.
ਪੰਚ ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ਸੇ ਮੀਤ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਹਿ ॥੧॥
Panch Battavaarae Sae Meeth Kar Maanehi ||1||
पंच बटवारे से मीत करि मानहि ॥१॥
You look upon the five thieves as your friends. ||1||
ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਮੀਤ ॥
So Ghar Saev Jith Oudhharehi Meeth ||
सो घरु सेवि जितु उधरहि मीत ॥
Serve that home, which will save you, my friend.
ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਰਵੀਅਹਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Gun Govindh Raveeahi Dhin Raathee Saadhhasang Kar Man Kee Preeth ||1|| Rehaao ||
गुण गोविंद रवीअहि दिनु राती साधसंगि करि मन की प्रीति ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, day and night; in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, love Him in your mind. ||1||Pause||
ਜਨਮੁ ਬਿਹਾਨੋ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਿ ਅਰੁ ਵਾਦਿ ॥
Janam Bihaano Ahankaar Ar Vaadh ||
जनमु बिहानो अहंकारि अरु वादि ॥
This human life is passing away in egotism and conflict.
ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਾਦਿ ॥
Thripath N Aavai Bikhiaa Saadh ||
त्रिपति न आवै बिखिआ सादि ॥
You are not satisfied; such is the flavor of sin.
ਭਰਮਤ ਭਰਮਤ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Bharamath Bharamath Mehaa Dhukh Paaeiaa ||
भरमत भरमत महा दुखु पाइआ ॥
Wandering and roaming around, you suffer terrible pain.
ਤਰੀ ਨ ਜਾਈ ਦੁਤਰ ਮਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
Tharee N Jaaee Dhuthar Maaeiaa ||2||
तरी न जाई दुतर माइआ ॥२॥
You cannot cross over the impassable sea of Maya. ||2||
ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
Kaam N Aavai S Kaar Kamaavai ||
कामि न आवै सु कार कमावै ॥
You do the deeds which do not help you at all.
ਆਪਿ ਬੀਜਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਖਾਵੈ ॥
Aap Beej Aapae Hee Khaavai ||
आपि बीजि आपे ही खावै ॥
As you plant, so shall you harvest.
ਰਾਖਨ ਕਉ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
Raakhan Ko Dhoosar Nehee Koe ||
राखन कउ दूसर नही कोइ ॥
There is none other than the Lord to save you.
ਤਉ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ਜਉ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
Tho Nisatharai Jo Kirapaa Hoe ||3||
तउ निसतरै जउ किरपा होइ ॥३॥
You will be saved, only if God grants His Grace. ||3||
ਪਤਿਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
Pathith Puneeth Prabh Thaero Naam ||
पतित पुनीत प्रभ तेरो नामु ॥
Your Name, God, is the Purifier of sinners.
ਅਪਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਨੁ ॥
Apanae Dhaas Ko Keejai Dhaan ||
अपने दास कउ कीजै दानु ॥
Please bless Your slave with that gift.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਗਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Prabh Gath Kar Maeree ||
करि किरपा प्रभ गति करि मेरी ॥
Please grant Your Grace, God, and emancipate me.

ਇਹ ਲੋਕੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Eih Lokae Sukh Paaeiaa ||
इह लोके सुखु पाइआ ॥
I have found peace in this world.
ਨਹੀ ਭੇਟਤ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
Nehee Bhaettath Dhharam Raaeiaa ||
नही भेटत धरम राइआ ॥
I will not have to appear before the Righteous Judge of Dharma to give my account.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਸੋਭਾਵੰਤ ॥
Har Dharageh Sobhaavanth ||
हरि दरगह सोभावंत ॥
I will be respected in the Court of the Lord,
ਫੁਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਬਸੰਤ ॥੧॥
Fun Garabh Naahee Basanth ||1||
फुनि गरभि नाही बसंत ॥१॥
And I will not have to enter the womb of reincarnation ever again. ||1||
ਜਾਨੀ ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾਈ ॥
Jaanee Santh Kee Mithraaee ||
जानी संत की मित्राई ॥
Now, I know the value of friendship with the Saints.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦੀਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਸੰਜੋਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Dheeno Har Naamaa Poorab Sanjog Milaaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
करि किरपा दीनो हरि नामा पूरबि संजोगि मिलाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
In His Mercy, the Lord has blessed me with His Name. My pre-ordained destiny has been fulfilled. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਚਰਣਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
Gur Kai Charan Chith Laagaa ||
गुर कै चरणि चितु लागा ॥
My consciousness is attached to the Guru's feet.
ਧੰਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ਸਭਾਗਾ ॥
Dhhann Dhhann Sanjog Sabhaagaa ||
धंनि धंनि संजोगु सभागा ॥
Blessed, blessed is this fortunate time of union.
ਸੰਤ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥੇ ॥
Santh Kee Dhhoor Laagee Maerai Maathhae ||
संत की धूरि लागी मेरै माथे ॥
I have applied the dust of the Saints' feet to my forehead,
ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਸਗਲੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਥੇ ॥੨॥
Kilavikh Dhukh Sagalae Maerae Laathhae ||2||
किलविख दुख सगले मेरे लाथे ॥२॥
And all my sins and pains have been eradicated. ||2||
ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸਚੁ ਟਹਲ ਕਮਾਨੀ ॥
Saadhh Kee Sach Ttehal Kamaanee ||
साध की सचु टहल कमानी ॥
Performing true service to the Holy,
ਤਬ ਹੋਏ ਮਨ ਸੁਧ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥
Thab Hoeae Man Sudhh Paraanee ||
तब होए मन सुध परानी ॥
The mortal's mind is purified.
ਜਨ ਕਾ ਸਫਲ ਦਰਸੁ ਡੀਠਾ ॥
Jan Kaa Safal Dharas Ddeethaa ||
जन का सफल दरसु डीठा ॥
I have seen the fruitful vision of the Lord's humble slave.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਵੂਠਾ ॥੩॥
Naam Prabhoo Kaa Ghatt Ghatt Voothaa ||3||
नामु प्रभू का घटि घटि वूठा ॥३॥
God's Name dwells within each and every heart. ||3||
ਮਿਟਾਨੇ ਸਭਿ ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ॥
Mittaanae Sabh Kal Kalaes ||
मिटाने सभि कलि कलेस ॥
All my troubles and sufferings have been taken away;
ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਉਪਜੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵੇਸ ॥
Jis Thae Oupajae This Mehi Paravaes ||
जिस ते उपजे तिसु महि परवेस ॥
I have merged into the One, from whom I originated.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟੇ ਆਨੂਪ ਗਵਿੰਦ ॥
Pragattae Aanoop Guovindh ||
प्रगटे आनूप गोविंद ॥
The Lord of the Universe, incomparably beautiful, has become merciful.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਖਸਿੰਦ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੪੯॥

प्रभ पूरे नानक बखसिंद ॥४॥३८॥४९॥
O Nanak, God is perfect and forgiving. ||4||38||49||

ਗਊ ਕਉ ਚਾਰੇ ਸਾਰਦੂਲੁ ॥
Goo Ko Chaarae Saaradhool ||
गऊ कउ चारे सारदूलु ॥
The tiger leads the cow to the pasture,
ਕਉਡੀ ਕਾ ਲਖ ਹੂਆ ਮੂਲੁ ॥
Kouddee Kaa Lakh Hooaa Mool ||
कउडी का लख हूआ मूलु ॥
The shell is worth thousands of dollars,
ਬਕਰੀ ਕਉ ਹਸਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੇ ॥
Bakaree Ko Hasathee Prathipaalae ||
बकरी कउ हसती प्रतिपाले ॥
And the elephant nurses the goat,
ਅਪਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥੧॥
Apanaa Prabh Nadhar Nihaalae ||1||
अपना प्रभु नदरि निहाले ॥१॥
When God bestows His Glance of Grace. ||1||
ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
Kirapaa Nidhhaan Preetham Prabh Maerae ||
क्रिपा निधान प्रीतम प्रभ मेरे ॥
You are the treasure of mercy, O my Beloved Lord God.
ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਾਕਉ ਬਹੁ ਗੁਨ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Baran N Saako Bahu Gun Thaerae ||1|| Rehaao ||
बरनि न साकउ बहु गुन तेरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I cannot even describe Your many Glorious Virtues. ||1||Pause||
ਦੀਸਤ ਮਾਸੁ ਨ ਖਾਇ ਬਿਲਾਈ ॥
Dheesath Maas N Khaae Bilaaee ||
दीसत मासु न खाइ बिलाई ॥
The cat sees the meat, but does not eat it,
ਮਹਾ ਕਸਾਬਿ ਛੁਰੀ ਸਟਿ ਪਾਈ ॥
Mehaa Kasaab Shhuree Satt Paaee ||
महा कसाबि छुरी सटि पाई ॥
And the great butcher throws away his knife;
ਕਰਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵੂਠਾ ॥
Karanehaar Prabh Hiradhai Voothaa ||
करणहार प्रभु हिरदै वूठा ॥
The Creator Lord God abides in the heart;
ਫਾਥੀ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਕਾ ਜਾਲਾ ਤੂਟਾ ॥੨॥
Faathhee Mashhulee Kaa Jaalaa Thoottaa ||2||
फाथी मछुली का जाला तूटा ॥२॥
The net holding the fish breaks apart. ||2||
ਸੂਕੇ ਕਾਸਟ ਹਰੇ ਚਲੂਲ ॥
Sookae Kaasatt Harae Chalool ||
सूके कासट हरे चलूल ॥
The dry wood blossoms forth in greenery and red flowers;
ਊਚੈ ਥਲਿ ਫੂਲੇ ਕਮਲ ਅਨੂਪ ॥
Oochai Thhal Foolae Kamal Anoop ||
ऊचै थलि फूले कमल अनूप ॥
In the high desert, the beautiful lotus flower blooms.
ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ॥
Agan Nivaaree Sathigur Dhaev ||
अगनि निवारी सतिगुर देव ॥
The Divine True Guru puts out the fire.
ਸੇਵਕੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਲਾਇਓ ਸੇਵ ॥੩॥
Saevak Apanee Laaeiou Saev ||3||
सेवकु अपनी लाइओ सेव ॥३॥
He links His servant to His service. ||3||
ਅਕਿਰਤਘਣਾ ਕਾ ਕਰੇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
Akirathaghanaa Kaa Karae Oudhhaar ||
अकिरतघणा का करे उधारु ॥
He saves even the ungrateful;
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਰੁ ॥
Prabh Maeraa Hai Sadhaa Dhaeiaar ||
प्रभु मेरा है सदा दइआरु ॥
My God is forever merciful.
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
Santh Janaa Kaa Sadhaa Sehaaee ||
संत जना का सदा सहाई ॥
He is forever the helper and support of the humble Saints.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੪॥੩੯॥੫੦॥
