Sunn Samaadhh Gufaa Theh Aasan ||
सुंन समाधि गुफा तह आसनु ॥
They sit there, in the cave of deep Samaadhi;
ਕੇਵਲ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪੂਰਨ ਤਹ ਬਾਸਨੁ ॥
Kaeval Breham Pooran Theh Baasan ||
केवल ब्रहम पूरन तह बासनु ॥
The unique, perfect Lord God dwells there.
ਭਗਤ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੋਸਟਿ ਕਰਤ ॥
Bhagath Sang Prabh Gosatt Karath ||
भगत संगि प्रभु गोसटि करत ॥
God holds conversations with His devotees.
ਤਹ ਹਰਖ ਨ ਸੋਗ ਨ ਜਨਮ ਨ ਮਰਤ ॥੩॥
Theh Harakh N Sog N Janam N Marath ||3||
तह हरख न सोग न जनम न मरत ॥३॥
There is no pleasure or pain, no birth or death there. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ॥
Kar Kirapaa Jis Aap Dhivaaeiaa ||
करि किरपा जिसु आपि दिवाइआ ॥
One whom the Lord Himself blesses with His Mercy,
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Saadhhasang Thin Har Dhhan Paaeiaa ||
साधसंगि तिनि हरि धनु पाइआ ॥
Obtains the Lord's wealth in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਦਇਆਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

दइआल पुरख नानक अरदासि ॥

The Vedas do not know His greatness.

ब्रहमे नही जानहि भेद ॥
Brahma does not know His mystery.

Incarnated beings do not know His limit.

The Transcendent Lord, the Supreme Lord God, is infinite. ||1||

अपनी गति आपि जानै ॥
Only He Himself knows His own state.
ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਅਵਰ ਵਖਾਨੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सुणि सुणि अवर वखानै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Others speak of Him only by hearsay. ||1||Pause||

Sankaraa Nehee Jaanehi Bhaev ||
संकरा नही जानहि भेव ॥
Shiva does not know His mystery.
ਖੋਜਤ ਹਾਰੇ ਦੇਵ ॥
Khojath Haarae Dhaev ||
खोजत हारे देव ॥
The gods gave grown weary of searching for Him.
ਦੇਵੀਆ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨੈ ਮਰਮ ॥
Dhaeveeaa Nehee Jaanai Maram ||
देवीआ नही जानै मरम ॥
The goddesses do not know His mystery.
ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਅਲਖ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥੨॥
Sabh Oopar Alakh Paarabreham ||2||
सभ ऊपरि अलख पारब्रहम ॥२॥
Above all is the unseen, Supreme Lord God. ||2||
ਅਪਨੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਕੇਲ ॥
Apanai Rang Karathaa Kael ||
अपनै रंगि करता केल ॥
The Creator Lord plays His own plays.
ਆਪਿ ਬਿਛੋਰੈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲ ॥
Aap Bishhorai Aapae Mael ||
आपि बिछोरै आपे मेल ॥
He Himself separates, and He Himself unites.
ਇਕਿ ਭਰਮੇ ਇਕਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਏ ॥
Eik Bharamae Eik Bhagathee Laaeae ||
इकि भरमे इकि भगती लाए ॥
Some wander around, while others are linked to His devotional worship.
ਅਪਣਾ ਕੀਆ ਆਪਿ ਜਣਾਏ ॥੩॥
Apanaa Keeaa Aap Janaaeae ||3||
अपणा कीआ आपि जणाए ॥३॥
By His actions, He makes Himself known. ||3||
ਸੰਤਨ ਕੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਚੀ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
Santhan Kee Sun Saachee Saakhee ||
संतन की सुणि साची साखी ॥
Listen to the true story of the Saints.
ਸੋ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਜੋ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਆਖੀ ॥
So Bolehi Jo Paekhehi Aakhee ||
सो बोलहि जो पेखहि आखी ॥
They speak only of what they see with their eyes.
ਨਹੀ ਲੇਪੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਨ ਪਾਪਿ ॥
Nehee Laep This Punn N Paap ||
नही लेपु तिसु पुंनि न पापि ॥
He is not involved with virtue or vice.

I have not tried to do anything through knowledge.

सुरति मति नाही किछु गिआनि ॥
I have no knowledge, intelligence or spiritual wisdom.
ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਸੀਲ ਨਹੀ ਧਰਮ ॥

जाप ताप सील नही धरम ॥
I have not practiced chanting, deep meditation, humility or righteousness.
ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਨਉ ਕੈਸਾ ਕਰਮ ॥੧॥

किछू न जानउ कैसा करम ॥१॥
I know nothing of such good karma. ||1||

I dwell in the village of corruption and sickness.

करणहार मेरे प्रभ एक ॥
O my One Creator Lord God,

नाम तेरे की मन महि टेक ॥२॥
Your Name is the support of my mind. ||2||

Sun Sun Jeevo Man Eihu Bisraam ||
सुणि सुणि जीवउ मनि इहु बिस्रामु ॥
Hearing, hearing Your Name, I live; this is my mind's consolation.
ਪਾਪ ਖੰਡਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

पाप खंडन प्रभ तेरो नामु ॥
Your Name, God, is the Destroyer of sins.

तू अगनतु जीअ का दाता ॥
You, O Limitless Lord, are the Giver of the soul.

जिसहि जणावहि तिनि तू जाता ॥३॥
He alone knows You, unto whom You reveal Yourself. ||3||

जो उपाइओ तिसु तेरी आस ॥
Whoever has been created, rests his hopes in You.

सगल अराधहि प्रभ गुणतास ॥
All worship and adore You, God, O treasure of excellence.
