बडै भागि साधसंगु पाइओ ॥१॥
By the highest destiny, you found the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਨਾਹੀ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥
Bin Gur Poorae Naahee Oudhhaar ||
बिनु गुर पूरे नाही उधारु ॥
Without the Perfect Guru, no one is saved.
ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਏਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੨॥੧੧॥
Baabaa Naanak Aakhai Eaehu Beechaar ||2||11||
बाबा नानकु आखै एहु बीचारु ॥२॥११॥

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਚਾਰਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਹਿ ਨਾ ਤੂ ਮਾਨਹਿ ॥
Chaar Pukaarehi Naa Thoo Maanehi ||
चारि पुकारहि ना तू मानहि ॥
The four Vedas proclaim it, but you don't believe them.
ਖਟੁ ਭੀ ਏਕਾ ਬਾਤ ਵਖਾਨਹਿ ॥
Khatt Bhee Eaekaa Baath Vakhaanehi ||
खटु भी एका बात वखानहि ॥
The six Shaastras also say one thing.
ਦਸ ਅਸਟੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਏਕੋ ਕਹਿਆ ॥
Dhas Asattee Mil Eaeko Kehiaa ||
दस असटी मिलि एको कहिआ ॥
The eighteen Puraanas all speak of the One God.
ਤਾ ਭੀ ਜੋਗੀ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਲਹਿਆ ॥੧॥
Thaa Bhee Jogee Bhaedh N Lehiaa ||1||
ता भी जोगी भेदु न लहिआ ॥१॥
Even so, Yogi, you do not understand this mystery. ||1||
ਕਿੰਕੁਰੀ ਅਨੂਪ ਵਾਜੈ ॥
Kinkuree Anoop Vaajai ||
किंकुरी अनूप वाजै ॥
The celestial harp plays the incomparable melody,
ਜੋਗੀਆ ਮਤਵਾਰੋ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Jogeeaa Mathavaaro Rae ||1|| Rehaao ||
जोगीआ मतवारो रे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
But in your intoxication, you do not hear it, O Yogi. ||1||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਥਮੇ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਤ ਕਾ ਖੇੜਾ ॥
Prathhamae Vasiaa Sath Kaa Khaerraa ||
प्रथमे वसिआ सत का खेड़ा ॥
In the first age, the Golden Age, the village of truth was inhabited.
ਤ੍ਰਿਤੀਏ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਭਇਆ ਦੁਤੇੜਾ ॥
Thritheeeae Mehi Kishh Bhaeiaa Dhuthaerraa ||
त्रितीए महि किछु भइआ दुतेड़ा ॥
In the Silver Age of Traytaa Yuga, things began to decline.
ਦੁਤੀਆ ਅਰਧੋ ਅਰਧਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
Dhutheeaa Aradhho Aradhh Samaaeiaa ||
दुतीआ अरधो अरधि समाइआ ॥
In the Brass Age of Dwaapur Yuga, half of it was gone.
ਏਕੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਤਾ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ॥੨॥
Eaek Rehiaa Thaa Eaek Dhikhaaeiaa ||2||
एकु रहिआ ता एकु दिखाइआ ॥२॥
Now, only one leg of Truth remains, and the One Lord is revealed. ||2||
ਏਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਏ ਮਣੀਏ ॥
Eaekai Sooth Paroeae Maneeeae ||
एकै सूति परोए मणीए ॥
The beads are strung upon the one thread.
ਗਾਠੀ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ ਭਿਨਿ ਤਣੀਏ ॥
Gaathee Bhin Bhin Bhin Bhin Thaneeeae ||
गाठी भिनि भिनि भिनि भिनि तणीए ॥
By means of many, various, diverse knots, they are tied, and kept separate on the string.
ਫਿਰਤੀ ਮਾਲਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਭਾਇ ॥
Firathee Maalaa Bahu Bidhh Bhaae ||
फिरती माला बहु बिधि भाइ ॥
The beads of the mala are lovingly chanted upon in many ways.
ਖਿੰਚਿਆ ਸੂਤੁ ਤ ਆਈ ਥਾਇ ॥੩॥
Khinchiaa Sooth Th Aaee Thhaae ||3||
खिंचिआ सूतु त आई थाइ ॥३॥
When the thread is pulled out, the beads come together in one place. ||3||
ਚਹੁ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੈ ਮਟੁ ਹੈ ਕੀਆ ॥
Chahu Mehi Eaekai Matt Hai Keeaa ||
चहु महि एकै मटु है कीआ ॥
Throughout the four ages, the One Lord made the body His temple.
ਤਹ ਬਿਖੜੇ ਥਾਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਖਿੜਕੀਆ ॥
Theh Bikharrae Thhaan Anik Khirrakeeaa ||
तह बिखड़े थान अनिक खिड़कीआ ॥
It is a treacherous place, with several windows.
ਖੋਜਤ ਖੋਜਤ ਦੁਆਰੇ ਆਇਆ ॥
Khojath Khojath Dhuaarae Aaeiaa ||
खोजत खोजत दुआरे आइआ ॥
Searching and searching, one comes to the Lord's door.
ਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਮਹਲੁ ਘਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥
Thaa Naanak Jogee Mehal Ghar Paaeiaa ||4||
ता नानक जोगी महलु घरु पाइआ ॥४॥
Then, O Nanak, the Yogi attains a home in the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. ||4||
ਇਉ ਕਿੰਕੁਰੀ ਆਨੂਪ ਵਾਜੈ ॥
Eio Kinkuree Aanoop Vaajai ||
इउ किंकुरी आनूप वाजै ॥

Raamkalee, Fifth Mehl:
ਤਾਗਾ ਕਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਾਈ ਥਿਗਲੀ ॥
Thaagaa Kar Kai Laaee Thhigalee ||
तागा करि कै लाई थिगली ॥
The body is a patch-work of threads.
ਲਉ ਨਾੜੀ ਸੂਆ ਹੈ ਅਸਤੀ ॥
Lo Naarree Sooaa Hai Asathee ||
लउ नाड़ी सूआ है असती ॥
The muscles are stitched together with the needles of the bones.
ਅੰਭੈ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਡੰਡਾ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
Anbhai Kaa Kar Ddanddaa Dhhariaa ||
अ्मभै का करि डंडा धरिआ ॥
The Lord has erected a pillar of water.
ਕਿਆ ਤੂ ਜੋਗੀ ਗਰਬਹਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
Kiaa Thoo Jogee Garabehi Pariaa ||1||
किआ तू जोगी गरबहि परिआ ॥१॥
O Yogi, why are you so proud? ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਾਈ ॥
Jap Naathh Dhin Rainaaee ||
जपि नाथु दिनु रैनाई ॥
Meditate on your Lord Master, day and night.
ਤੇਰੀ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਦੋ ਦਿਹਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Thaeree Khinthhaa Dho Dhihaaee ||1|| Rehaao ||
तेरी खिंथा दो दिहाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
The patched coat of the body shall last for only a few days. ||1||Pause||
ਗਹਰੀ ਬਿਭੂਤ ਲਾਇ ਬੈਠਾ ਤਾੜੀ ॥
Geharee Bibhooth Laae Baithaa Thaarree ||
गहरी बिभूत लाइ बैठा ताड़ी ॥
Smearing ashes on your body, you sit in a deep meditative trance.
ਮੇਰੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਾ ਧਾਰੀ ॥
Maeree Thaeree Mundhraa Dhhaaree ||
मेरी तेरी मुंद्रा धारी ॥
You wear the ear-rings of 'mine and yours'.
ਮਾਗਹਿ ਟੂਕਾ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
Maagehi Ttookaa Thripath N Paavai ||
मागहि टूका त्रिपति न पावै ॥
You beg for bread, but you are not satisfied.
ਨਾਥੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਚਹਿ ਲਾਜ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥
Naathh Shhodd Jaachehi Laaj N Aavai ||2||
नाथु छोडि जाचहि लाज न आवै ॥२॥
Abandoning your Lord Master, you beg from others; you should feel ashamed. ||2||
ਚਲ ਚਿਤ ਜੋਗੀ ਆਸਣੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥
Chal Chith Jogee Aasan Thaeraa ||
चल चित जोगी आसणु तेरा ॥
Your consciousness is restless, Yogi, as you sit in your Yogic postures.
ਸਿੰਙੀ ਵਾਜੈ ਨਿਤ ਉਦਾਸੇਰਾ ॥
Sinn(g)ee Vaajai Nith Oudhaasaeraa ||
सिंङी वाजै नित उदासेरा ॥
You blow your horn, but still feel sad.
ਗੁਰ ਗੋਰਖ ਕੀ ਤੈ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
Gur Gorakh Kee Thai Boojh N Paaee ||
गुर गोरख की तै बूझ न पाई ॥
You do not understand Gorakh, your guru.
ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਗੀ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਈ ॥੩॥
Fir Fir Jogee Aavai Jaaee ||3||
फिरि फिरि जोगी आवै जाई ॥३॥
Again and again, Yogi, you come and go. ||3||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੋਆ ਨਾਥੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ॥
Jis No Hoaa Naathh Kirapaalaa ||
जिस नो होआ नाथु क्रिपाला ॥
He, unto whom the Master shows Mercy
ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਗੋਪਾਲਾ ॥
Reharaas Hamaaree Gur Gopaalaa ||
रहरासि हमारी गुर गोपाला ॥
Unto Him, the Guru, the Lord of the World, I offer my prayer.
ਨਾਮੈ ਖਿੰਥਾ ਨਾਮੈ ਬਸਤਰੁ ॥
Naamai Khinthhaa Naamai Basathar ||
नामै खिंथा नामै बसतरु ॥
One who has the Name as his patched coat, and the Name as his robe,
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋਗੀ ਹੋਆ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ॥੪॥
Jan Naanak Jogee Hoaa Asathhir ||4||
जन नानक जोगी होआ असथिरु ॥४॥
O servant Nanak, such a Yogi is steady and stable. ||4||
ਇਉ ਜਪਿਆ ਨਾਥੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਨਾਈ ॥
Eio Japiaa Naathh Dhin Rainaaee ||
इउ जपिआ नाथु दिनु रैनाई ॥
One who meditates on the Master in this way, night and day,
ਹੁਣਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੨॥੧੩॥
Hun Paaeiaa Gur Gosaaee ||1|| Rehaao Dhoojaa ||2||13||
हुणि पाइआ गुरु गोसाई ॥१॥ रहाउ दूजा ॥२॥१३॥
Finds the Guru, the Lord of the World, in this life. ||1||Second Pause||2||13||

ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਸੋਈ ॥

करन करावन सोई ॥
He is the Creator, the Cause of causes;
ਆਨ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
Aan N Dheesai Koee ||
आन न दीसै कोई ॥
I do not see any other at all.
ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸੁਜਾਨਾ ॥
Thaakur Maeraa Sugharr Sujaanaa ||
ठाकुरु मेरा सुघड़ु सुजाना ॥
My Lord and Master is wise and all-knowing.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਨਾ ॥੧॥
Guramukh Miliaa Rang Maanaa ||1||
गुरमुखि मिलिआ रंगु माना ॥१॥
Meeting with the Gurmukh, I enjoy His Love. ||1||
ਐਸੋ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਮੀਠਾ ॥
Aiso Rae Har Ras Meethaa ||
ऐसो रे हरि रसु मीठा ॥
Such is the sweet, subtle essence of the Lord.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Guramukh Kinai Viralai Ddeethaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
गुरमुखि किनै विरलै डीठा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
How rare are those who, as Gurmukh, taste it. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੋਤਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ॥

निरमल जोति अम्रितु हरि नाम ॥
The Light of the Ambrosial Name of the Lord is immaculate and pure.
