त्रितीअ बिवसथा सिंचे माइ ॥
In the third stage of life, he gathers the wealth of Maya.
ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਆ ਛੋਡਿ ਚਲਿਓ ਪਛੁਤਾਇ ॥੨॥

बिरधि भइआ छोडि चलिओ पछुताइ ॥२॥
And when he grows old, he must leave all this; he departs regretting and repenting. ||2||
ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਪਾਈ ਦ੍ਰੁਲਭ ਦੇਹ ॥

चिरंकाल पाई द्रुलभ देह ॥
After a very long time, one obtains this precious human body, so difficult to obtain.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਖੇਹ ॥
Naam Bihoonee Hoee Khaeh ||
नाम बिहूणी होई खेह ॥
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, it is reduced to dust.
ਪਸੂ ਪਰੇਤ ਮੁਗਧ ਤੇ ਬੁਰੀ ॥
Pasoo Paraeth Mugadhh Thae Buree ||
पसू परेत मुगध ते बुरी ॥
Worse than a beast, a demon or an idiot,
ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਬੂਝੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਏਹ ਸਿਰੀ ॥੩॥

तुमहि छडावहु छुटकहि बंध ॥
If You emancipate the human, then his bonds are broken.

Joining the elements together, the robe of the body is fashioned.
ਤਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਇਆਨਾ ਰਾਚਿ ॥
This Sang Rehiou Eiaanaa Raach ||
तिसु संगि रहिओ इआना राचि ॥
The ignorant fool is engrossed in it.
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਾਰਿ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥
Prathipaarai Nith Saar Samaarai ||
प्रतिपारै नित सारि समारै ॥
He cherishes it, and constantly takes care of it.
ਅੰਤ ਕੀ ਬਾਰ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
Anth Kee Baar Ooth Sidhhaarai ||1||
अंत की बार ऊठि सिधारै ॥१॥
But at the very last moment, he must arise and depart. ||1||

नाम बिना सभु झूठु परानी ॥
Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, everything is false, O mortal.

Those who do not vibrate and meditate on the Lord of the Universe, but instead are imbued with other things, - all those mortals are plundered by Maya. ||1||Pause||

Bathing at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, filth is not washed off.

करम धरम सभि हउमै फैलु ॥
Religious rituals are all just egotistical displays.
ਲੋਕ ਪਚਾਰੈ ਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਹੋਇ ॥
Lok Pachaarai Gath Nehee Hoe ||
लोक पचारै गति नही होइ ॥
By pleasing and appeasing people, no one is saved.
ਨਾਮ ਬਿਹੂਣੇ ਚਲਸਹਿ ਰੋਇ ॥੨॥
Naam Bihoonae Chalasehi Roe ||2||
नाम बिहूणे चलसहि रोइ ॥२॥
Without the Naam, they shall depart weeping. ||2||
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਨ ਟੂਟਸਿ ਪਟਲ ॥

बिनु हरि नाम न टूटसि पटल ॥
Without the Lord's Name, the screen is not torn away.

सोधे सासत्र सिम्रिति सगल ॥
I have studied all the Shaastras and Simritees.

सो नामु जपै जिसु आपि जपाए ॥
He alone chants the Naam, whom the Lord Himself inspires to chant.

सगल फला से सूखि समाए ॥३॥
He obtains all fruits and rewards, and merges in peace. ||3||

सगल सुखा प्रभ तुमरै हाथि ॥
All peace and comforts are in Your Hand, God.

Whatever He does makes me happy.

मनु असमझु साधसंगि पतीआना ॥
The ignorant mind is encouraged, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਚੂਕਾ ਠਹਰਾਇਆ ॥

डोलन ते चूका ठहराइआ ॥
Now, it does not waver at all; it has become stable and steady.
ਸਤਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਲੇ ਸਤਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
Sath Maahi Lae Sath Samaaeiaa ||1||
सति माहि ले सति समाइआ ॥१॥
Receiving Truth, it is merged in the True Lord. ||1||
ਦੂਖੁ ਗਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਇਆ ॥
Dhookh Gaeiaa Sabh Rog Gaeiaa ||
दूखु गइआ सभु रोगु गइआ ॥
Pain is gone, and all illness is gone.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਨੀ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ਭਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

Whatever exists is good.
ਜਹ ਰਾਖੈ ਸੋਈ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਥਾਨੁ ॥
Jeh Raakhai Soee Mukath Thhaan ||
जह राखै सोई मुकति थानु ॥
Wherever He keeps me, that is the place of liberation for me.
ਜੋ ਜਪਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੨॥

जो जपाए सोई नामु ॥२॥
Whatever He makes me chant, is His Name. ||2||
ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਜਹ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਧਰਹਿ ॥

अठसठि तीरथ जह साध पग धरहि ॥
That is the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage, where the Holy place their feet,
ਤਹ ਬੈਕੁੰਠੁ ਜਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਚਰਹਿ ॥
Theh Baikunth Jeh Naam Oucharehi ||
तह बैकुंठु जह नामु उचरहि ॥
And that is heaven, where the Naam is chanted.
ਸਰਬ ਅਨੰਦ ਜਬ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
Sarab Anandh Jab Dharasan Paaeeai ||
सरब अनंद जब दरसनु पाईऐ ॥
All bliss comes, when one obtains the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan.

आपे घटि घटि रहिआ बिआपि ॥
The Lord Himself is pervading in each and every heart.

दइआल पुरख परगट परताप ॥
The glory of the Merciful Lord is radiant and manifest.

Kapatt Khulaanae Bhram Naathae Dhoorae ||
कपट खुलाने भ्रम नाठे दूरे ॥
The shutters are opened, and doubts have run away.
