ਤਿਸੁ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਕਰਾਰਾ ॥
This Vich Varathai Hukam Karaaraa ||
तिसु विचि वरतै हुकमु करारा ॥
The nether worlds, realms and worlds of form.
ਹੁਕਮੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਢਾਹੇ ਹੁਕਮੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥
Hukamae Saajae Hukamae Dtaahae Hukamae Mael Milaaeidhaa ||5||
हुकमे साजे हुकमे ढाहे हुकमे मेलि मिलाइदा ॥५॥
By the Hukam of Your Command, You create, and by Your Command, You destroy. By Your Command, You unite in Union. ||5||
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੁ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ॥
Hukamai Boojhai S Hukam Salaahae ||
हुकमै बूझै सु हुकमु सलाहे ॥
One who realizes Your Command, praises Your Command.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੇ ॥
Agam Agochar Vaeparavaahae ||
अगम अगोचर वेपरवाहे ॥
You are Inaccessible, Unfathomable and Self-Sufficient.
ਜੇਹੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋ ਹੋਵੈ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
Jaehee Math Dhaehi So Hovai Thoo Aapae Sabadh Bujhaaeidhaa ||6||
जेही मति देहि सो होवै तू आपे सबदि बुझाइदा ॥६॥
As is the understanding You give, so do I become. You Yourself reveal the Shabad. ||6||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਆਰਜਾ ਛਿਜਦੀ ਜਾਏ ॥
Anadhin Aarajaa Shhijadhee Jaaeae ||
अनदिनु आरजा छिजदी जाए ॥
Night and day, the days of our lives wear away.
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਦੁਇ ਸਾਖੀ ਆਏ ॥
Rain Dhinas Dhue Saakhee Aaeae ||
रैणि दिनसु दुइ साखी आए ॥
Night and day both bear witness to this loss.
ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਮੂੜਾ ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਰੂਆਇਦਾ ॥੭॥
Manamukh Andhh N Chaethai Moorraa Sir Oopar Kaal Rooaaeidhaa ||7||
मनमुखु अंधु न चेतै मूड़ा सिर ऊपरि कालु रूआइदा ॥७॥
The blind, foolish, self-willed manmukh is not aware of this; death is hovering over his head. ||7||
ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
Man Than Seethal Gur Charanee Laagaa ||
मनु तनु सीतलु गुर चरणी लागा ॥
The mind and body are cooled and soothed, holding tight to the Guru's Feet.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ਭਉ ਭਾਗਾ ॥
Anthar Bharam Gaeiaa Bho Bhaagaa ||
अंतरि भरमु गइआ भउ भागा ॥
Doubt is eliminated from within, and fear runs away.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸਚੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
Sadhaa Anandh Sachae Gun Gaavehi Sach Baanee Bolaaeidhaa ||8||
सदा अनंदु सचे गुण गावहि सचु बाणी बोलाइदा ॥८॥
One is in bliss forever, singing the Glorious Praises of the True Lord, and speaking the True Word of His Bani. ||8||
ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਜਾਤਾ ਕਰਮ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥
Jin Thoo Jaathaa Karam Bidhhaathaa ||
जिनि तू जाता करम बिधाता ॥
One who knows You as the Architect of Karma,
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
Poorai Bhaag Gur Sabadh Pashhaathaa ||
पूरै भागि गुर सबदि पछाता ॥
Has the good fortune of perfect destiny, and recognizes the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਜਤਿ ਪਤਿ ਸਚੁ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸੋਈ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥
Jath Path Sach Sachaa Sach Soee Houmai Maar Milaaeidhaa ||9||
जति पति सचु सचा सचु सोई हउमै मारि मिलाइदा ॥९॥
The Lord, the Truest of the True, is his social class and honor. Conquering his ego, he is united with the Lord. ||9||
ਮਨੁ ਕਠੋਰੁ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਲਾਗਾ ॥
Man Kathor Dhoojai Bhaae Laagaa ||
मनु कठोरु दूजै भाइ लागा ॥
The stubborn and insensitive mind is attached to the love of duality.
ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਭਾਗਾ ॥
Bharamae Bhoolaa Firai Abhaagaa ||
भरमे भूला फिरै अभागा ॥
Deluded by doubt, the unfortunate wander around in confusion.
ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
Karam Hovai Thaa Sathigur Saevae Sehajae Hee Sukh Paaeidhaa ||10||
करमु होवै ता सतिगुरु सेवे सहजे ही सुखु पाइदा ॥१०॥
But if they are blessed by God's Grace, they serve the True Guru, and easily obtain peace. ||10||
ਲਖ ਚਉਰਾਸੀਹ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ॥
Lakh Chouraaseeh Aap Oupaaeae ||
लख चउरासीह आपि उपाए ॥
He Himself created the 8.4 million species of beings.
ਮਾਨਸ ਜਨਮਿ ਗੁਰ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
Maanas Janam Gur Bhagath Dhrirraaeae ||
मानस जनमि गुर भगति द्रिड़ाए ॥
Only in this human life, is devotional worship to the Guru implanted within.
ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਵਾਸਾ ਬਿਸਟਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥
Bin Bhagathee Bisattaa Vich Vaasaa Bisattaa Vich Fir Paaeidhaa ||11||
बिनु भगती बिसटा विचि वासा बिसटा विचि फिरि पाइदा ॥११॥
Without devotion, one lives in manure; he falls into manure again and again. ||11||
ਕਰਮੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਏ ॥
Karam Hovai Gur Bhagath Dhrirraaeae ||
करमु होवै गुरु भगति द्रिड़ाए ॥
If one is blessed with His Grace, devotional worship to the Guru is implanted within.
ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ ॥
Vin Karamaa Kio Paaeiaa Jaaeae ||
विणु करमा किउ पाइआ जाए ॥
Without God's Grace, how can anyone find Him?
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
Aapae Karae Karaaeae Karathaa Jio Bhaavai Thivai Chalaaeidhaa ||12||
आपे करे कराए करता जिउ भावै तिवै चलाइदा ॥१२॥
The Creator Himself acts, and inspires all to act; as He wills, he leads us on. ||12||
ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
Simrith Saasath Anth N Jaanai ||
सिम्रिति सासत अंतु न जाणै ॥
The Simritees and the Shaastras do not know His limits.
ਮੂਰਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਤਤੁ ਨ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥
Moorakh Andhhaa Thath N Pashhaanai ||
मूरखु अंधा ततु न पछाणै ॥
The blind fool does not recognize the essence of reality.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
Aapae Karae Karaaeae Karathaa Aapae Bharam Bhulaaeidhaa ||13||
आपे करे कराए करता आपे भरमि भुलाइदा ॥१३॥
The Creator Himself acts, and inspires all to act; He Himself deludes with doubt. ||13||
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥
Sabh Kishh Aapae Aap Karaaeae ||
सभु किछु आपे आपि कराए ॥
He Himself causes everything to be done.
ਆਪੇ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਧੰਧੈ ਲਾਏ ॥
Aapae Sir Sir Dhhandhhai Laaeae ||
आपे सिरि सिरि धंधै लाए ॥
He Himself joins each and every person to his tasks.
ਆਪੇ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
Aapae Thhaap Outhhaapae Vaekhai Guramukh Aap Bujhaaeidhaa ||14||
आपे थापि उथापे वेखै गुरमुखि आपि बुझाइदा ॥१४॥
He Himself establishes and disestablishes, and watches over all; He reveals Himself to the Gurmukh. ||14||
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰਾ ॥
Sachaa Saahib Gehir Ganbheeraa ||
सचा साहिबु गहिर ग्मभीरा ॥
The True Lord and Master is profoundly deep and unfathomable.
ਸਦਾ ਸਲਾਹੀ ਤਾ ਮਨੁ ਧੀਰਾ ॥
Sadhaa Salaahee Thaa Man Dhheeraa ||
सदा सलाही ता मनु धीरा ॥
Praising Him forever, the mind is comforted and consoled.
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
Agam Agochar Keemath Nehee Paaee Guramukh Mann Vasaaeidhaa ||15||
अगम अगोचरु कीमति नही पाई गुरमुखि मंनि वसाइदा ॥१५॥
He is inaccessible and unfathomable; His value cannot be estimated. He dwells in the mind of the Gurmukh. ||15||
ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਾਲਮੁ ਹੋਰ ਧੰਧੈ ਲੋਈ ॥
Aap Niraalam Hor Dhhandhhai Loee ||
आपि निरालमु होर धंधै लोई ॥
He Himself is detached; all others are entangled in their affairs.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
Gur Parasaadhee Boojhai Koee ||
गुर परसादी बूझै कोई ॥
By Guru's Grace, one comes to understand Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੩॥੧੭॥
Naanak Naam Vasai Ghatt Anthar Guramathee Mael Milaaeidhaa ||16||3||17||
नानक नामु वसै घट अंतरि गुरमती मेलि मिलाइदा ॥१६॥३॥१७॥
O Nanak, the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to dwell deep within the heart; through the Guru's Teachings, one is united in His Union. ||16||3||17||

जुग छतीह कीओ गुबारा ॥
For thirty-six ages, utter darkness prevailed.
ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Thoo Aapae Jaanehi Sirajanehaaraa ||
तू आपे जाणहि सिरजणहारा ॥
Only You Yourself know this, O Creator Lord.
ਹੋਰ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥
Hor Kiaa Ko Kehai K Aakh Vakhaanai Thoo Aapae Keemath Paaeidhaa ||1||
होर किआ को कहै कि आखि वखाणै तू आपे कीमति पाइदा ॥१॥
What can anyone else say? What can anyone explain? Only You Yourself can estimate Your worth. ||1||
ਓਅੰਕਾਰਿ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਈ ॥
Ouankaar Sabh Srisatt Oupaaee ||
ओअंकारि सभ स्रिसटि उपाई ॥
The One Universal Creator created the entire Universe.
ਸਭੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਤਮਾਸਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Sabh Khael Thamaasaa Thaeree Vaddiaaee ||
सभु खेलु तमासा तेरी वडिआई ॥
All the plays and dramas are to Your glory and greatness.
ਆਪੇ ਵੇਕ ਕਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੰਨਿ ਘੜਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
Aapae Vaek Karae Sabh Saachaa Aapae Bhann Gharraaeidhaa ||2||
आपे वेक करे सभि साचा आपे भंनि घड़ाइदा ॥२॥
The True Lord Himself makes all distinctions; He Himself breaks and builds. ||2||
ਬਾਜੀਗਰਿ ਇਕ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥
Baajeegar Eik Baajee Paaee ||
बाजीगरि इक बाजी पाई ॥
The Juggler has staged His juggling show.
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਈ ॥
Poorae Gur Thae Nadharee Aaee ||
पूरे गुर ते नदरी आई ॥
Through the Perfect Guru, one comes to behold it.
ਸਦਾ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੀ ਸਾਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੩॥
Sadhaa Alipath Rehai Gur Sabadhee Saachae Sio Chith Laaeidhaa ||3||
सदा अलिपतु रहै गुर सबदी साचे सिउ चितु लाइदा ॥३॥
One who remains forever detached in the Word of the Guru's Shabad - his consciousness is attuned to the True Lord. ||3||
ਬਾਜਹਿ ਬਾਜੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਆਕਾਰਾ ॥
Baajehi Baajae Dhhun Aakaaraa ||
बाजहि बाजे धुनि आकारा ॥
The musical instruments of the body vibrate and resound.
ਆਪਿ ਵਜਾਏ ਵਜਾਵਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Aap Vajaaeae Vajaavanehaaraa ||
आपि वजाए वजावणहारा ॥
The Player Himself plays them.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪਉਣੁ ਵਹੈ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੀ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਵਣੈ ਸਭ ਵਜਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥
Ghatt Ghatt Poun Vehai Eik Rangee Mil Pavanai Sabh Vajaaeidhaa ||4||
घटि घटि पउणु वहै इक रंगी मिलि पवणै सभ वजाइदा ॥४॥
The breath flows equally through the hearts of each and every being. Receiving the breath, all the instruments sing. ||4||
