ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ਸਮਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
Guramukh Naam Samaae Samaavai Naanak Naam Dhhiaaee Hae ||12||
गुरमुखि नामि समाइ समावै नानक नामु धिआई हे ॥१२॥
The Gurmukh is immersed and absorbed in the Naam; Nanak meditates on the Naam. ||12||
ਭਗਤਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਹੈ ਬਾਣੀ ॥
Bhagathaa Mukh Anmrith Hai Baanee ||
भगता मुखि अम्रित है बाणी ॥
The Ambrosial Nectar of the Guru's Bani is in the mouth of the devotees.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀ ॥
Guramukh Har Naam Aakh Vakhaanee ||
गुरमुखि हरि नामु आखि वखाणी ॥
The Gurmukhs chant and repeat the Lord's Name.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਮਨੁ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
Har Har Karath Sadhaa Man Bigasai Har Charanee Man Laaee Hae ||13||
हरि हरि करत सदा मनु बिगसै हरि चरणी मनु लाई हे ॥१३॥
Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, their minds forever blossom forth; they focus their minds on the Lord's Feet. ||13||
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Ham Moorakh Agiaan Giaan Kishh Naahee ||
हम मूरख अगिआन गिआनु किछु नाही ॥
I am foolish and ignorant; I have no wisdom at all.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਪੜੀ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
Sathigur Thae Samajh Parree Man Maahee ||
सतिगुर ते समझ पड़ी मन माही ॥
From the True Guru, I have obtained understanding in my mind.
ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
Hohu Dhaeiaal Kirapaa Kar Har Jeeo Sathigur Kee Saevaa Laaee Hae ||14||
होहु दइआलु क्रिपा करि हरि जीउ सतिगुर की सेवा लाई हे ॥१४॥
O Dear Lord, please be kind to me, and grant Your Grace; let me be committed to serving the True Guru. ||14||
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਾਤਾ ਤਿਨਿ ਏਕੁ ਪਛਾਤਾ ॥
Jin Sathigur Jaathaa Thin Eaek Pashhaathaa ||
जिनि सतिगुरु जाता तिनि एकु पछाता ॥
Those who know the True Guru realize the One Lord.
ਸਰਬੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ॥
Sarabae Rav Rehiaa Sukhadhaathaa ||
सरबे रवि रहिआ सुखदाता ॥
The Giver of peace is all-pervading, permeating everywhere.
ਆਤਮੁ ਚੀਨਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥
Aatham Cheen Param Padh Paaeiaa Saevaa Surath Samaaee Hae ||15||
आतमु चीनि परम पदु पाइआ सेवा सुरति समाई हे ॥१५॥
Understanding my own soul, I have obtained the Supreme Status; my awareness is immersed in selfless service. ||15||
ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਆਦਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Jin Ko Aadh Milee Vaddiaaee ||
जिन कउ आदि मिली वडिआई ॥
Those who are blessed with glorious greatness by the Primal Lord God
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥
Sathigur Man Vasiaa Liv Laaee ||
सतिगुरु मनि वसिआ लिव लाई ॥
Are lovingly focused on the True Guru, who dwells within their minds.
ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਜਗਜੀਵਨੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਹੇ ॥੧੬॥੧॥
Aap Miliaa Jagajeevan Dhaathaa Naanak Ank Samaaee Hae ||16||1||
आपि मिलिआ जगजीवनु दाता नानक अंकि समाई हे ॥१६॥१॥
The Giver of life to the world Himself meets them; O Nanak, they are absorbed in His Being. ||16||1||

Maaroo, Fourth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਦਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
Har Agam Agochar Sadhaa Abinaasee ||
हरि अगम अगोचरु सदा अबिनासी ॥
The Lord is inaccessible and unfathomable; He is eternal and imperishable.
ਸਰਬੇ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਘਟ ਵਾਸੀ ॥
Sarabae Rav Rehiaa Ghatt Vaasee ||
सरबे रवि रहिआ घट वासी ॥
He dwells in the heart, and is all-pervading, permeating everywhere.
ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਸਰੇਵਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
This Bin Avar N Koee Dhaathaa Har Thisehi Saraevahu Praanee Hae ||1||
तिसु बिनु अवरु न कोई दाता हरि तिसहि सरेवहु प्राणी हे ॥१॥
There is no other Giver except Him; worship the Lord, O mortals. ||1||
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਰਾਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥
Jaa Ko Raakhai Har Raakhanehaaraa ||
जा कउ राखै हरि राखणहारा ॥
No one can kill anyone
ਤਾ ਕਉ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਾਕਸਿ ਮਾਰਾ ॥
Thaa Ko Koe N Saakas Maaraa ||
ता कउ कोइ न साकसि मारा ॥
Who is saved by the Savior Lord.
ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
So Aisaa Har Saevahu Santhahu Jaa Kee Ootham Baanee Hae ||2||
सो ऐसा हरि सेवहु संतहु जा की ऊतम बाणी हे ॥२॥
So serve such a Lord, O Saints, whose Bani is exalted and sublime. ||2||
ਜਾ ਜਾਪੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਿਥਾਊ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
Jaa Jaapai Kishh Kithhaaoo Naahee ||
जा जापै किछु किथाऊ नाही ॥
When it seems that a place is empty and void,
ਤਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ਸਮਾਹੀ ॥
Thaa Karathaa Bharapoor Samaahee ||
ता करता भरपूरि समाही ॥
There, the Creator Lord is permeating and pervading.
ਸੂਕੇ ਤੇ ਫੁਨਿ ਹਰਿਆ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਚੋਜ ਵਿਡਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Sookae Thae Fun Hariaa Keethon Har Dhhiaavahu Choj Viddaanee Hae ||3||
सूके ते फुनि हरिआ कीतोनु हरि धिआवहु चोज विडाणी हे ॥३॥
He causes the dried-up branch to blossom forth in greenery again; so meditate on the Lord - wondrous are His ways! ||3||
ਜੋ ਜੀਆ ਕੀ ਵੇਦਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
Jo Jeeaa Kee Vaedhan Jaanai ||
जो जीआ की वेदन जाणै ॥
The One who knows the anguish of all beings
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੈ ਹਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੈ ॥
This Saahib Kai Ho Kurabaanai ||
तिसु साहिब कै हउ कुरबाणै ॥
Unto that Lord and Master, I am a sacrifice.
ਤਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਜਨ ਕਰਿ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਜੋ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖਾ ਕਾ ਦਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੪॥
This Aagai Jan Kar Baenanthee Jo Sarab Sukhaa Kaa Dhaanee Hae ||4||
तिसु आगै जन करि बेनंती जो सरब सुखा का दाणी हे ॥४॥
Offer your prayers to the One who is the Giver of all peace and joy. ||4||
ਜੋ ਜੀਐ ਕੀ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥
Jo Jeeai Kee Saar N Jaanai ||
जो जीऐ की सार न जाणै ॥
But one who does not know the state of the soul
ਤਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਕਿਛੁ ਨ ਕਹੀਐ ਅਜਾਣੈ ॥
This Sio Kishh N Keheeai Ajaanai ||
तिसु सिउ किछु न कहीऐ अजाणै ॥
Do not say anything to such an ignorant person.
ਮੂਰਖ ਸਿਉ ਨਹ ਲੂਝੁ ਪਰਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੫॥
Moorakh Sio Neh Loojh Paraanee Har Japeeai Padh Nirabaanee Hae ||5||
मूरख सिउ नह लूझु पराणी हरि जपीऐ पदु निरबाणी हे ॥५॥
Do not argue with fools, O mortals. Meditate on the Lord, in the state of Nirvaanaa. ||5||
ਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਚਿੰਤ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਰਤੇ ॥
Naa Kar Chinth Chinthaa Hai Karathae ||
ना करि चिंत चिंता है करते ॥
Don't worry - let the Creator take care of it.
ਹਰਿ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਜੰਤਾ ਸਭਤੈ ॥
Har Dhaevai Jal Thhal Janthaa Sabhathai ||
हरि देवै जलि थलि जंता सभतै ॥
The Lord gives to all creatures in the water and on the land.
ਅਚਿੰਤ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਕੀਟ ਪਖਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Achinth Dhaan Dhaee Prabh Maeraa Vich Paathhar Keett Pakhaanee Hae ||6||
अचिंत दानु देइ प्रभु मेरा विचि पाथर कीट पखाणी हे ॥६॥
My God bestows His blessings without being asked, even to worms in soil and stones. ||6||
ਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਆਸ ਮੀਤ ਸੁਤ ਭਾਈ ॥
Naa Kar Aas Meeth Suth Bhaaee ||
ना करि आस मीत सुत भाई ॥
Do not place your hopes in friends, children and siblings.
ਨਾ ਕਰਿ ਆਸ ਕਿਸੈ ਸਾਹ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਕੀ ਪਰਾਈ ॥
Naa Kar Aas Kisai Saah Biouhaar Kee Paraaee ||
ना करि आस किसै साह बिउहार की पराई ॥
Do not place your hopes in kings or the business of others.
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਾਰੰਗਪਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Bin Har Naavai Ko Baelee Naahee Har Japeeai Saarangapaanee Hae ||7||
बिनु हरि नावै को बेली नाही हरि जपीऐ सारंगपाणी हे ॥७॥
Without the Lord's Name, no one will be your helper; so meditate on the Lord, the Lord of the world. ||7||
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥
Anadhin Naam Japahu Banavaaree ||
अनदिनु नामु जपहु बनवारी ॥
Night and day, chant the Naam.
ਸਭ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੈ ਥਾਰੀ ॥
Sabh Aasaa Manasaa Poorai Thhaaree ||
सभ आसा मनसा पूरै थारी ॥
All your hopes and desires shall be fulfilled.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਭਵ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Jan Naanak Naam Japahu Bhav Khanddan Sukh Sehajae Rain Vihaanee Hae ||8||
जन नानक नामु जपहु भव खंडनु सुखि सहजे रैणि विहाणी हे ॥८॥
O servant Nanak, chant the Naam, the Name of the Destroyer of fear, and your life-night shall pass in intuitive peace and poise. ||8||
ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Jin Har Saeviaa Thin Sukh Paaeiaa ||
जिनि हरि सेविआ तिनि सुखु पाइआ ॥
Those who serve the Lord find peace.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥
Sehajae Hee Har Naam Samaaeiaa ||
सहजे ही हरि नामि समाइआ ॥
They are intuitively absorbed in the Lord's Name.
ਜੋ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਪਤਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਜਾਇ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Jo Saran Parai This Kee Path Raakhai Jaae Pooshhahu Vaedh Puraanee Hae ||9||
जो सरणि परै तिस की पति राखै जाइ पूछहु वेद पुराणी हे ॥९॥
The Lord preserves the honor of those who seek His Sanctuary; go and consult the Vedas and the Puraanas. ||9||
ਜਿਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
Jis Har Saevaa Laaeae Soee Jan Laagai ||
जिसु हरि सेवा लाए सोई जनु लागै ॥
That humble being is attached to the Lord's service, whom the Lord so attaches.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਭਰਮ ਭਉ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Bharam Bho Bhaagai ||
गुर कै सबदि भरम भउ भागै ॥
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, doubt and fear are dispelled.
ਵਿਚੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਸਦਾ ਰਹੈ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਜਿਉ ਕਮਲੁ ਰਹੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Vichae Grih Sadhaa Rehai Oudhaasee Jio Kamal Rehai Vich Paanee Hae ||10||
विचे ग्रिह सदा रहै उदासी जिउ कमलु रहै विचि पाणी हे ॥१०॥
In his own home, he remains unattached, like the lotus flower in the water. ||10||
