सतिगुरि सेविऐ सहज अनंदा ॥
Serving the True Guru, one obtains intuitive bliss.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਆਇ ਵੁਠਾ ਗੋਵਿੰਦਾ ॥
Hiradhai Aae Vuthaa Govindhaa ||
हिरदै आइ वुठा गोविंदा ॥
The Lord of the Universe comes to dwell within the heart.
ਸਹਜੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਾਇਦਾ ॥੪॥
Sehajae Bhagath Karae Dhin Raathee Aapae Bhagath Karaaeidhaa ||4||
सहजे भगति करे दिनु राती आपे भगति कराइदा ॥४॥
He intuitively practices devotional worship day and night; God Himself practices devotional worship. ||4||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਤਿਨੀ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
Sathigur Thae Vishhurrae Thinee Dhukh Paaeiaa ||
सतिगुर ते विछुड़े तिनी दुखु पाइआ ॥
Those who are separated from the True Guru, suffer in misery.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
Anadhin Maareeahi Dhukh Sabaaeiaa ||
अनदिनु मारीअहि दुखु सबाइआ ॥
Night and day, they are punished, and they suffer in total agony.
ਮਥੇ ਕਾਲੇ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦੁਖ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੫॥
Mathhae Kaalae Mehal N Paavehi Dhukh Hee Vich Dhukh Paaeidhaa ||5||
मथे काले महलु न पावहि दुख ही विचि दुखु पाइदा ॥५॥
Their faces are blackened, and they do not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence. They suffer in sorrow and agony. ||5||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥
Sathigur Saevehi Sae Vaddabhaagee ||
सतिगुरु सेवहि से वडभागी ॥
Those who serve the True Guru are very fortunate.
ਸਹਜ ਭਾਇ ਸਚੀ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥
Sehaj Bhaae Sachee Liv Laagee ||
सहज भाइ सची लिव लागी ॥
They intuitively enshrine love for the True Lord.
ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਿ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸਚੈ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥
Sacho Sach Kamaavehi Sadh Hee Sachai Mael Milaaeidhaa ||6||
सचो सचु कमावहि सद ही सचै मेलि मिलाइदा ॥६॥
They practice Truth, forever Truth; they are united in Union with the True Lord. ||6||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਚਾ ਦੇਇ ਸੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Jis No Sachaa Dhaee S Paaeae ||
जिस नो सचा देइ सु पाए ॥
He alone obtains the Truth, unto whom the True Lord gives it.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥
Anthar Saach Bharam Chukaaeae ||
अंतरि साचु भरमु चुकाए ॥
His inner being is filled with Truth, and his doubt is dispelled.
ਸਚੁ ਸਚੈ ਕਾ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥
Sach Sachai Kaa Aapae Dhaathaa Jis Dhaevai So Sach Paaeidhaa ||7||
सचु सचै का आपे दाता जिसु देवै सो सचु पाइदा ॥७॥
The True Lord Himself is the Giver of Truth; he alone obtains the Truth, unto whom He gives it. ||7||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
Aapae Karathaa Sabhanaa Kaa Soee ||
आपे करता सभना का सोई ॥
He Himself is the Creator of all.
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
Jis No Aap Bujhaaeae Boojhai Koee ||
जिस नो आपि बुझाए बूझै कोई ॥
Only one whom He instructs, understands Him.
ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਪੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੮॥
Aapae Bakhasae Dhae Vaddiaaee Aapae Mael Milaaeidhaa ||8||
आपे बखसे दे वडिआई आपे मेलि मिलाइदा ॥८॥
He Himself forgives, and grants glorious greatness. He himself unites in His Union. ||8||
ਹਉਮੈ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥
Houmai Karadhiaa Janam Gavaaeiaa ||
हउमै करदिआ जनमु गवाइआ ॥
Acting egotistically, one loses his life.
ਆਗੈ ਮੋਹੁ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
Aagai Mohu N Chookai Maaeiaa ||
आगै मोहु न चूकै माइआ ॥
Even in the world hereafter, emotioal attachment to Maya does not leave him.
ਅਗੈ ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਲੇਖਾ ਲੇਵੈ ਜਿਉ ਤਿਲ ਘਾਣੀ ਪੀੜਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥
Agai Jamakaal Laekhaa Laevai Jio Thil Ghaanee Peerraaeidhaa ||9||
अगै जमकालु लेखा लेवै जिउ तिल घाणी पीड़ाइदा ॥९॥
In the world hereafter, the Messenger of Death calls him to account, and crushes him like sesame seeds in the oil-press. ||9||
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
Poorai Bhaag Gur Saevaa Hoee ||
पूरै भागि गुर सेवा होई ॥
By perfect destiny, one serves the Guru.
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਸੇਵੇ ਕੋਈ ॥
Nadhar Karae Thaa Saevae Koee ||
नदरि करे ता सेवे कोई ॥
If God grants His Grace, then one serves.
ਜਮਕਾਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਮਹਲਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥
Jamakaal This Naerr N Aavai Mehal Sachai Sukh Paaeidhaa ||10||
जमकालु तिसु नेड़ि न आवै महलि सचै सुखु पाइदा ॥१०॥
The Messenger of Death cannot even approach him, and in the Mansion of the True Lord's Presence, he finds peace. ||10||
ਤਿਨ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਏ ॥
Thin Sukh Paaeiaa Jo Thudhh Bhaaeae ||
तिन सुखु पाइआ जो तुधु भाए ॥
They alone find peace, who are pleasing to Your Will.
ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਲਾਏ ॥
Poorai Bhaag Gur Saevaa Laaeae ||
पूरै भागि गुर सेवा लाए ॥
By perfect destiny, they are attached to the Guru's service.
ਤੇਰੈ ਹਥਿ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥
Thaerai Hathh Hai Sabh Vaddiaaee Jis Dhaevehi So Paaeidhaa ||11||
तेरै हथि है सभ वडिआई जिसु देवहि सो पाइदा ॥११॥
All glorious greatness rests in Your Hands; he alone obtains it, unto whom You give it. ||11||
ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਰਗਾਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥
Andhar Paragaas Guroo Thae Paaeae ||
अंदरि परगासु गुरू ते पाए ॥
Through the Guru, one's inner being is enlightened and illumined.
ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਮੰਨਿ ਵਸਾਏ ॥
Naam Padhaarathh Mann Vasaaeae ||
नामु पदारथु मंनि वसाए ॥
The wealth of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, comes to dwell in the mind.
ਗਿਆਨ ਰਤਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧੇਰੁ ਗਵਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥
Giaan Rathan Sadhaa Ghatt Chaanan Agiaan Andhhaer Gavaaeidhaa ||12||
गिआन रतनु सदा घटि चानणु अगिआन अंधेरु गवाइदा ॥१२॥
The jewel of spiritual wisdom ever illumines the heart, and the darkness of spiritual ignorance is dispelled. ||12||
ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਅੰਧੇ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
Agiaanee Andhhae Dhoojai Laagae ||
अगिआनी अंधे दूजै लागे ॥
The blind and ignorant are attached to duality.
ਬਿਨੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਡੁਬਿ ਮੂਏ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥
Bin Paanee Ddub Mooeae Abhaagae ||
बिनु पाणी डुबि मूए अभागे ॥
The unfortunates are drowned without water, and die.
ਚਲਦਿਆ ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥
Chaladhiaa Ghar Dhar Nadhar N Aavai Jam Dhar Baadhhaa Dhukh Paaeidhaa ||13||
चलदिआ घरु दरु नदरि न आवै जम दरि बाधा दुखु पाइदा ॥१३॥
When they depart from the world, they do not find the Lord's door and home; bound and gagged at Death's door, they suffer in pain. ||13||
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
Bin Sathigur Saevae Mukath N Hoee ||
बिनु सतिगुर सेवे मुकति न होई ॥
Without serving the True Guru, no one finds liberation.
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਧਿਆਨੀ ਪੂਛਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
Giaanee Dhhiaanee Pooshhahu Koee ||
गिआनी धिआनी पूछहु कोई ॥
Go ask any spiritual teacher or meditator.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥
Sathigur Saevae This Milai Vaddiaaee Dhar Sachai Sobhaa Paaeidhaa ||14||
सतिगुरु सेवे तिसु मिलै वडिआई दरि सचै सोभा पाइदा ॥१४॥
Whoever serves the True Guru is blessed with glorious greatness, and honored in the Court of the True Lord. ||14||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੋ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
Sathigur No Saevae This Aap Milaaeae ||
सतिगुर नो सेवे तिसु आपि मिलाए ॥
One who serves the True Guru, the Lord merges into Himself.
ਮਮਤਾ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥
Mamathaa Kaatt Sach Liv Laaeae ||
ममता काटि सचि लिव लाए ॥
Cutting away attachment, one lovingly focuses on the True Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਵਣਜਹਿ ਵਾਪਾਰੀ ਨਾਮੋ ਲਾਹਾ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥
Sadhaa Sach Vanajehi Vaapaaree Naamo Laahaa Paaeidhaa ||15||
सदा सचु वणजहि वापारी नामो लाहा पाइदा ॥१५॥
The merchants deal forever in Truth; they earn the profit of the Naam. ||15||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ॥
Aapae Karae Karaaeae Karathaa ||
आपे करे कराए करता ॥
The Creator Himself acts, and inspires all to act.
ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ॥
Sabadh Marai Soee Jan Mukathaa ||
सबदि मरै सोई जनु मुकता ॥
He alone is liberated, who dies in the Word of the Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸੈ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੫॥੧੯॥
Naanak Naam Vasai Man Anthar Naamo Naam Dhhiaaeidhaa ||16||5||19||
नानक नामु वसै मन अंतरि नामो नामु धिआइदा ॥१६॥५॥१९॥
O Nanak, the Naam dwells deep within the mind; meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||16||5||19||

ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਕਰਣਾ ਸੋ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

जो तुधु करणा सो करि पाइआ ॥
Whatever You do, is done.
ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਆਇਆ ॥
Bhaanae Vich Ko Viralaa Aaeiaa ||
भाणे विचि को विरला आइआ ॥
How rare are those who walk in harmony with the Lord's Will.
ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੋ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੧॥
Bhaanaa Mannae So Sukh Paaeae Bhaanae Vich Sukh Paaeidhaa ||1||
भाणा मंने सो सुखु पाए भाणे विचि सुखु पाइदा ॥१॥
One who surrenders to the Lord's Will finds peace; he finds peace in the Lord's Will. ||1||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਭਾਵੈ ॥
Guramukh Thaeraa Bhaanaa Bhaavai ||
गुरमुखि तेरा भाणा भावै ॥
Your Will is pleasing to the Gurmukh.
ਸਹਜੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
Sehajae Hee Sukh Sach Kamaavai ||
सहजे ही सुखु सचु कमावै ॥
Practicing Truth, he intuitively finds peace.
ਭਾਣੇ ਨੋ ਲੋਚੈ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਆਪਿ ਮਨਾਇਦਾ ॥੨॥
Bhaanae No Lochai Bahuthaeree Aapanaa Bhaanaa Aap Manaaeidhaa ||2||
भाणे नो लोचै बहुतेरी आपणा भाणा आपि मनाइदा ॥२॥
Many long to walk in harmony with the Lord's Will; He Himself inspires us to surrender to His Will. ||2||
ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨੇ ਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਆਏ ॥
Thaeraa Bhaanaa Mannae S Milai Thudhh Aaeae ||
तेरा भाणा मंने सु मिलै तुधु आए ॥
One who surrenders to Your Will, meets with You, Lord.
