Jin Man Vasiaa Sae Jan Sohae Hiradhai Naam Vasaaeae ||3||
जिन मनि वसिआ से जन सोहे हिरदै नामु वसाए ॥३॥
Those whose minds are filled with the Naam are beautiful; they enshrine the Naam within their hearts. ||3||
ਘਰੁ ਦਰੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਸਿਉ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਣੈ ॥
Ghar Dhar Mehal Sathiguroo Dhikhaaeiaa Rang Sio Raleeaa Maanai ||
घरु दरु महलु सतिगुरू दिखाइआ रंग सिउ रलीआ माणै ॥
The True Guru has revealed to me the Lord's Home and His Court, and the Mansion of His Presence. I joyfully enjoy His Love.
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ॥੪॥੬॥੧੬॥
Jo Kishh Kehai S Bhalaa Kar Maanai Naanak Naam Vakhaanai ||4||6||16||
जो किछु कहै सु भला करि मानै नानक नामु वखाणै ॥४॥६॥१६॥

Manasaa Manehi Samaae Lai Gur Sabadhee Veechaar ||
मनसा मनहि समाइ लै गुर सबदी वीचार ॥
The desires of the mind are absorbed in the mind,contemplating the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਵੈ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਨ ਵਾਰੋ ਵਾਰ ॥੧॥
Gur Poorae Thae Sojhee Pavai Fir Marai N Vaaro Vaar ||1||
गुर पूरे ते सोझी पवै फिरि मरै न वारो वार ॥१॥
Understanding is obtained from the Perfect Guru, and then the mortal does not die over and over again. ||1||

मन मेरे राम नामु आधारु ॥
My mind takes the Support of the Lord's Name.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਭ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुर परसादि परम पदु पाइआ सभ इछ पुजावणहारु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
By Guru's Grace, I have obtained the supreme status; the Lord is the Fulfiller of all desires. ||1||Pause||
ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥
Sabh Mehi Eaeko Rav Rehiaa Gur Bin Boojh N Paae ||
सभ महि एको रवि रहिआ गुर बिनु बूझ न पाइ ॥
The One Lord is permeating and pervading amongst all; without the Guru, this understanding is not obtained.
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥੨॥
Guramukh Pragatt Hoaa Maeraa Har Prabh Anadhin Har Gun Gaae ||2||
गुरमुखि प्रगटु होआ मेरा हरि प्रभु अनदिनु हरि गुण गाइ ॥२॥
My Lord God has been revealed to me, and I have become Gurmukh. Night and day, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||
ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਹੋਰ ਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਪਾਹਿ ॥
Sukhadhaathaa Har Eaek Hai Hor Thhai Sukh N Paahi ||
सुखदाता हरि एकु है होर थै सुखु न पाहि ॥
The One Lord is the Giver of peace; peace is not found anywhere else.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਨ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਦਾਤਾ ਸੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਹਿ ॥੩॥
Sathigur Jinee N Saeviaa Dhaathaa Sae Anth Geae Pashhuthaahi ||3||
सतिगुरु जिनी न सेविआ दाता से अंति गए पछुताहि ॥३॥
Those who do not serve the Giver, the True Guru, depart regretfully in the end. ||3||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਧਾਇ ॥
Sathigur Saev Sadhaa Sukh Paaeiaa Fir Dhukh N Laagai Dhhaae ||
सतिगुरु सेवि सदा सुखु पाइआ फिरि दुखु न लागै धाइ ॥
Serving the True Guru, lasting peace is obtained, and the mortal does not suffer in pain any longer.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੪॥੭॥੧੭॥

नानक हरि भगति परापति होई जोती जोति समाइ ॥४॥७॥१७॥
Nanak has been blessed with devotional worship of the Lord; his light has merged into the Light. ||4||7||17||

ਬਾਝੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਗਤੁ ਬਉਰਾਨਾ ਭੂਲਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਈ ॥
Baajh Guroo Jagath Bouraanaa Bhoolaa Chottaa Khaaee ||
बाझु गुरू जगतु बउराना भूला चोटा खाई ॥
Without the Guru, the world is insane; confused and deluded, it is beaten, and it suffers.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ਦਰ ਕੀ ਖਬਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੧॥
Mar Mar Janmai Sadhaa Dhukh Paaeae Dhar Kee Khabar N Paaee ||1||
मरि मरि जमै सदा दुखु पाए दर की खबरि न पाई ॥१॥
It dies and dies again, and is reborn, always in pain, but it is unaware of the Lord's Gate. ||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾ ॥
Maerae Man Sadhaa Rehahu Sathigur Kee Saranaa ||
मेरे मन सदा रहहु सतिगुर की सरणा ॥
O my mind,remain always in the Protection of the True Guru's Sanctuary.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਸਦ ਲਾਗਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੇ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਣਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Hiradhai Har Naam Meethaa Sadh Laagaa Gur Sabadhae Bhavajal Tharanaa ||1|| Rehaao ||
हिरदै हरि नामु मीठा सद लागा गुर सबदे भवजलु तरणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
Those people, to whose hearts the Lord's Name seems sweet, are carried across the terrifying world-ocean by the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||Pause||
ਭੇਖ ਕਰੈ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਡੋਲੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
Bhaekh Karai Bahuth Chith Ddolai Anthar Kaam Krodhh Ahankaar ||
भेख करै बहुतु चितु डोलै अंतरि कामु क्रोधु अहंकारु ॥
The mortal wears various religious robes, but his consciousness is unsteady; deep within, he is filled with sexual desire, anger and egotism.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਸਾ ਭੂਖ ਅਤਿ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਭਉਕਤ ਫਿਰੈ ਦਰ ਬਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
Anthar Thisaa Bhookh Ath Bahuthee Bhoukath Firai Dhar Baar ||2||
अंतरि तिसा भूख अति बहुती भउकत फिरै दर बारु ॥२॥
Deep within is the great thirst and immense hunger; he wanders from door to door. ||2||
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥
Gur Kai Sabadh Marehi Fir Jeevehi Thin Ko Mukath Dhuaar ||
गुर कै सबदि मरहि फिरि जीवहि तिन कउ मुकति दुआरि ॥
Those who die in the Word of the Guru's Shabad are reborn; they find the door of liberation.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥੩॥
Anthar Saanth Sadhaa Sukh Hovai Har Raakhiaa Our Dhhaar ||3||
अंतरि सांति सदा सुखु होवै हरि राखिआ उर धारि ॥३॥
With constant peace and tranquility deep within, they enshrine the Lord within their hearts. ||3||
ਜਿਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਵੈ ਚਲਾਵੈ ਕਰਣਾ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
Jio This Bhaavai Thivai Chalaavai Karanaa Kishhoo N Jaaee ||
जिउ तिसु भावै तिवै चलावै करणा किछू न जाई ॥
As it pleases Him, He inspires us to act. Nothing else can be done.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੮॥
Naanak Guramukh Sabadh Samhaalae Raam Naam Vaddiaaee ||4||8||18||
नानक गुरमुखि सबदु सम्हाले राम नामि वडिआई ॥४॥८॥१८॥
O Nanak, the Gurmukh contemplates the Word of the Shabad, and is blessed with the glorious greatness of the Lord's Name. ||4||8||18||

Houmai Maaeiaa Mohi Khuaaeiaa Dhukh Khattae Dhukh Khaae ||
हउमै माइआ मोहि खुआइआ दुखु खटे दुख खाइ ॥
Lost in egotism, Maya and attachment, the mortal earns pain, and eats pain.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਲੋਭ ਹਲਕੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਭਾਰੀ ਬਿਨੁ ਬਿਬੇਕ ਭਰਮਾਇ ॥੧॥
Anthar Lobh Halak Dhukh Bhaaree Bin Bibaek Bharamaae ||1||
अंतरि लोभ हलकु दुखु भारी बिनु बिबेक भरमाइ ॥१॥
The great disease, the rabid disease of greed, is deep within him; he wanders around indiscriminately. ||1||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸੈਸਾਰਿ ॥
Manamukh Dhhrig Jeevan Saisaar ||
मनमुखि ध्रिगु जीवणु सैसारि ॥
The life of the self-willed manmukh in this world is cursed.
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਨਹੀ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਿਆਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Raam Naam Supanai Nehee Chaethiaa Har Sio Kadhae N Laagai Piaar ||1|| Rehaao ||
राम नामु सुपनै नही चेतिआ हरि सिउ कदे न लागै पिआरु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
He does not remember the Lord's Name, even in his dreams. He is never in love with the Lord's Name. ||1||Pause||
ਪਸੂਆ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਕੂੜੋ ਹੋਇ ॥
Pasooaa Karam Karai Nehee Boojhai Koorr Kamaavai Koorro Hoe ||
पसूआ करम करै नही बूझै कूड़ु कमावै कूड़ो होइ ॥
He acts like a beast, and does not understand anything. Practicing falsehood, he becomes false.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਉਲਟੀ ਹੋਵੈ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੨॥
Sathigur Milai Th Oulattee Hovai Khoj Lehai Jan Koe ||2||
सतिगुरु मिलै त उलटी होवै खोजि लहै जनु कोइ ॥२॥
But when the mortal meets the True Guru, his way of looking at the world changes. How rare are those humble beings who seek and find the Lord. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਸਦ ਵਸਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣੀ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ॥
Har Har Naam Ridhai Sadh Vasiaa Paaeiaa Gunee Nidhhaan ||
हरि हरि नामु रिदै सद वसिआ पाइआ गुणी निधानु ॥
That person, whose heart is forever filled with the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, obtains the Lord, the Treasure of Virtue.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਇਆ ਚੂਕਾ ਮਨ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੩॥
Gur Parasaadhee Pooraa Paaeiaa Chookaa Man Abhimaan ||3||
गुर परसादी पूरा पाइआ चूका मन अभिमानु ॥३॥
By Guru's Grace, he finds the Perfect Lord; the egotistical pride of his mind is eradicated. ||3||
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ॥
Aapae Karathaa Karae Karaaeae Aapae Maarag Paaeae ||
आपे करता करे कराए आपे मारगि पाए ॥
The Creator Himself acts, and causes all to act. He Himself places us on the path.
