ਧਨ ਅੰਧੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਚਪਲੁ ਸਿਆਨਾ ॥
Dhhan Andhhee Pir Chapal Siaanaa ||
धन अंधी पिरु चपलु सिआना ॥
The body-bride is blind, and the groom is clever and wise.
ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਕਾ ਰਚਨੁ ਰਚਾਨਾ ॥
Panch Thath Kaa Rachan Rachaanaa ||
पंच ततु का रचनु रचाना ॥
The creation was created of the five elements.
ਜਿਸੁ ਵਖਰ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਆਏ ਹਹੁ ਸੋ ਪਾਇਓ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੬॥
Jis Vakhar Ko Thum Aaeae Hahu So Paaeiou Sathigur Paasaa Hae ||6||
जिसु वखर कउ तुम आए हहु सो पाइओ सतिगुर पासा हे ॥६॥
That merchandise, for which you have come into the world, is received only from the True Guru. ||6||
ਧਨ ਕਹੈ ਤੂ ਵਸੁ ਮੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
Dhhan Kehai Thoo Vas Mai Naalae ||
धन कहै तू वसु मै नाले ॥
The body-bride says, ""Please live with me,
ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੁਖਵਾਸੀ ਬਾਲ ਗੁਪਾਲੇ ॥
Pria Sukhavaasee Baal Gupaalae ||
प्रिअ सुखवासी बाल गुपाले ॥
O my beloved, peaceful, young lord.
ਤੁਝੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਹਉ ਕਿਤ ਹੀ ਨ ਲੇਖੈ ਵਚਨੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੭॥
Thujhai Binaa Ho Kith Hee N Laekhai Vachan Dhaehi Shhodd N Jaasaa Hae ||7||
तुझै बिना हउ कित ही न लेखै वचनु देहि छोडि न जासा हे ॥७॥
Without you, I am of no account. Please give me your word, that you will not leave me"". ||7||
ਪਿਰਿ ਕਹਿਆ ਹਉ ਹੁਕਮੀ ਬੰਦਾ ॥
Pir Kehiaa Ho Hukamee Bandhaa ||
पिरि कहिआ हउ हुकमी बंदा ॥
The soul-husband says, ""I am the slave of my Commander.
ਓਹੁ ਭਾਰੋ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਾਣਿ ਨ ਛੰਦਾ ॥
Ouhu Bhaaro Thaakur Jis Kaan N Shhandhaa ||
ओहु भारो ठाकुरु जिसु काणि न छंदा ॥
He is my Great Lord and Master, who is fearless and independent.
ਜਿਚਰੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਤਿਚਰੁ ਤੁਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਹਣਾ ਜਾ ਸਦੇ ਤ ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੮॥
Jichar Raakhai Thichar Thum Sang Rehanaa Jaa Sadhae Th Ooth Sidhhaasaa Hae ||8||
जिचरु राखै तिचरु तुम संगि रहणा जा सदे त ऊठि सिधासा हे ॥८॥
As long as He wills, I will remain with you. When He summons me, I shall arise and depart.""||8||
ਜਉ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਬਚਨ ਕਹੇ ਧਨ ਸਾਚੇ ॥
Jo Pria Bachan Kehae Dhhan Saachae ||
जउ प्रिअ बचन कहे धन साचे ॥
The husband speaks words of Truth to the bride,
ਧਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸਮਝੈ ਚੰਚਲਿ ਕਾਚੇ ॥
Dhhan Kashhoo N Samajhai Chanchal Kaachae ||
धन कछू न समझै चंचलि काचे ॥
But the bride is restless and inexperienced, and she does not understand anything.
ਬਹੁਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਪਿਰ ਹੀ ਸੰਗੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਓਹੁ ਬਾਤ ਜਾਨੈ ਕਰਿ ਹਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੯॥
Bahur Bahur Pir Hee Sang Maagai Ouhu Baath Jaanai Kar Haasaa Hae ||9||
बहुरि बहुरि पिर ही संगु मागै ओहु बात जानै करि हासा हे ॥९॥
Again and again, she begs her husband to stay; she thinks that he is just joking when he answers her. ||9||
ਆਈ ਆਗਿਆ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ॥
Aaee Aagiaa Pirahu Bulaaeiaa ||
आई आगिआ पिरहु बुलाइआ ॥
The Order comes, and the husband-soul is called.
ਨਾ ਧਨ ਪੁਛੀ ਨ ਮਤਾ ਪਕਾਇਆ ॥
Naa Dhhan Pushhee N Mathaa Pakaaeiaa ||
ना धन पुछी न मता पकाइआ ॥
He does not consult with his bride, and does not ask her opinion.
ਊਠਿ ਸਿਧਾਇਓ ਛੂਟਰਿ ਮਾਟੀ ਦੇਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਥਨ ਮੋਹਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੦॥
Ooth Sidhhaaeiou Shhoottar Maattee Dhaekh Naanak Mithhan Mohaasaa Hae ||10||
ऊठि सिधाइओ छूटरि माटी देखु नानक मिथन मोहासा हे ॥१०॥
He gets up and marches off, and the discarded body-bride mingles with dust. O Nanak, behold the illusion of emotional attachment and hope. ||10||
ਰੇ ਮਨ ਲੋਭੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ॥
Rae Man Lobhee Sun Man Maerae ||
रे मन लोभी सुणि मन मेरे ॥
O greedy mind - listen, O my mind!
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਸਦੇਰੇ ॥
Sathigur Saev Dhin Raath Sadhaerae ||
सतिगुरु सेवि दिनु राति सदेरे ॥
Serve the True Guru day and night forever.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਚਿ ਮੂਏ ਸਾਕਤ ਨਿਗੁਰੇ ਗਲਿ ਜਮ ਫਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੧॥
Bin Sathigur Pach Mooeae Saakath Nigurae Gal Jam Faasaa Hae ||11||
बिनु सतिगुर पचि मूए साकत निगुरे गलि जम फासा हे ॥११॥
Without the True Guru, the faithless cynics rot away and die. The noose of Death is around the necks of those who have no guru. ||11||
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥
Manamukh Aavai Manamukh Jaavai ||
मनमुखि आवै मनमुखि जावै ॥
The self-willed manmukh comes, and the self-willed manmukh goes.
ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਵੈ ॥
Manamukh Fir Fir Chottaa Khaavai ||
मनमुखि फिरि फिरि चोटा खावै ॥
The manmukh suffers beatings again and again.
ਜਿਤਨੇ ਨਰਕ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਭੋਗੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਲੇਪੁ ਨ ਮਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੨॥
Jithanae Narak Sae Manamukh Bhogai Guramukh Laep N Maasaa Hae ||12||
जितने नरक से मनमुखि भोगै गुरमुखि लेपु न मासा हे ॥१२॥
The manmukh endures as many hells as there are; the Gurmukh is not even touched by them. ||12||
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸੋਇ ਜਿ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
Guramukh Soe J Har Jeeo Bhaaeiaa ||
गुरमुखि सोइ जि हरि जीउ भाइआ ॥
He alone is Gurmukh, who is pleasing to the Dear Lord.
ਤਿਸੁ ਕਉਣੁ ਮਿਟਾਵੈ ਜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪਹਿਰਾਇਆ ॥
This Koun Mittaavai J Prabh Pehiraaeiaa ||
तिसु कउणु मिटावै जि प्रभि पहिराइआ ॥
Who can destroy anyone who is robed in honor by the Lord?
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਕਰੇ ਆਨੰਦੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਰਪਾਉ ਪਇਆ ਗਲਿ ਖਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੩॥
Sadhaa Anandh Karae Aanandhee Jis Sirapaao Paeiaa Gal Khaasaa Hae ||13||
सदा अनंदु करे आनंदी जिसु सिरपाउ पइआ गलि खासा हे ॥१३॥
The blissful one is forever in bliss; he is dressed in robes of honor. ||13||
ਹਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ॥
Ho Balihaaree Sathigur Poorae ||
हउ बलिहारी सतिगुर पूरे ॥
I am a sacrifice to the Perfect True Guru.
ਸਰਣਿ ਕੇ ਦਾਤੇ ਬਚਨ ਕੇ ਸੂਰੇ ॥
Saran Kae Dhaathae Bachan Kae Soorae ||
सरणि के दाते बचन के सूरे ॥
He is the Giver of Sanctuary, the Heroic Warrior who keeps His Word.
ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਵਿਛੁੜਿ ਨ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਜਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੪॥
Aisaa Prabh Miliaa Sukhadhaathaa Vishhurr N Kath Hee Jaasaa Hae ||14||
ऐसा प्रभु मिलिआ सुखदाता विछुड़ि न कत ही जासा हे ॥१४॥
Such is the Lord God, the Giver of peace, whom I have met; He shall never leave me or go anywhere else. ||14||
ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
Gun Nidhhaan Kishh Keem N Paaee ||
गुण निधान किछु कीम न पाई ॥
He is the treasure of virtue; His value cannot be estimated.
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ॥
Ghatt Ghatt Poor Rehiou Sabh Thaaee ||
घटि घटि पूरि रहिओ सभ ठाई ॥
He is perfectly permeating each and every heart, prevailing everywhere.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਹਉ ਰੇਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਦਾਸਾ ਹੇ ॥੧੫॥੧॥੨॥

नानक सरणि दीन दुख भंजन हउ रेण तेरे जो दासा हे ॥१५॥१॥२॥
Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Destroyer of the pains of the poor; I am the dust of the feet of Your slaves. ||15||1||2||

सिरि साहा कै सचा साहिबु अवरु नाही को दूजा हे ॥१॥
The True Lord and Master is above the heads of all kings; there is none other than Him. ||1||

हरखवंत आनंत दइआला ॥
He is joyful, blissful and merciful.

प्रगटि रहिओ प्रभु सरब उजाला ॥
God's Light is manifest everywhere.
ਰੂਪ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਿ ਪੂਜਾ ਹੇ ॥੨॥
Roop Karae Kar Vaekhai Vigasai Aapae Hee Aap Poojaa Hae ||2||
रूप करे करि वेखै विगसै आपे ही आपि पूजा हे ॥२॥
He creates forms, and gazing upon them, He enjoys them; He Himself worships Himself. ||2||
ਆਪੇ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਵੀਚਾਰਾ ॥

आपे कुदरति करे वीचारा ॥
He contemplates His own creative power.
ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸਚੁ ਕਰੇ ਪਸਾਰਾ ॥
Aapae Hee Sach Karae Pasaaraa ||
आपे ही सचु करे पसारा ॥
The True Lord Himself creates the expanse of the Universe.
ਆਪੇ ਖੇਲ ਖਿਲਾਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਭੀਜਾ ਹੇ ॥੩॥
Aapae Khael Khilaavai Dhin Raathee Aapae Sun Sun Bheejaa Hae ||3||
आपे खेल खिलावै दिनु राती आपे सुणि सुणि भीजा हे ॥३॥
He Himself stages the play, day and night; He Himself listens, and hearing, rejoices. ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਤਖਤੁ ਸਚੀ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੀ ॥
Saachaa Thakhath Sachee Paathisaahee ||
साचा तखतु सची पातिसाही ॥
True is His throne, and True is His kingdom.
ਸਚੁ ਖਜੀਨਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹੀ ॥
Sach Khajeenaa Saachaa Saahee ||
सचु खजीना साचा साही ॥
True is the treasure of the True Banker.
